[Q] Phone wont turn on without being plugged into power - HD2 General

Hi Guys,
Im a total noob here, first time flasher, but ive recently flashed my phone to Typhoon Cyanogen mode 7 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951)
Before this HSPL 2.08 was installed, radio was installed and magldr was installed.
I went through bootloader, used ad recovery and installed from the zip, the phone seems to work great and normal, until i unplug it from power.
THE PHONE JUST WONT TURN ON WITHOUT BEING PLUGGED INTO POWER! In which it says its full battery when plugged in.
How do i fix this?

bent battery pin?

Nah its never had any issues and doesnt have without being plugged in normally. Have i missed a step in flashing?

no, , problem like that is hardware, nothing to do with what's on the phone.
so its gotta be a dead battery, a bent battery pin, or something broken on the actual mainboard.
if you're sure all three pins are sticking out 90degrees square from the casing, then your next step has to be checking the battery. got a multimeter? test the battery output, , know anyone else with an hd2? or a shop that has one that may let you test the battery?

When you click power button to try switching it on, nothing happens? No vibration, nothing on screen?
Do you have someone with HD2 to try second battery? Maybe it is not bricked but only battery died.
Well to be honest Icdo not think your HD2 is bricked, it sort of sounds like you may have a dead battery. With MAGLDR you can only charge your HD2 while you have the ROM you are using booted up and running. Also try this just in case your battery os not dead but your power button is malfunctioning. Take the back cover off and press the small reset button on the back, it will be red, yellow, or green. Also make sure to have your charger connected to your HD2 in case the battery is low, it will start charging about half way through the boot up process. I will check back in on thos thread later today.
follow T-Macgnolia advice, if you can find another battery just to try if phone does boot up... after making sure that its not a battery problem ( i hope it does ) than could be that your phone is bricked and for now only jtag method could fix it.
I've never, ever heard about a really bricked HD2 unless a faulty hardware... In you case it might be the battery or a hardware issue.
HD2 is almost impossible to brick.

Unless you flash the wrong radio, that's basically it.
OP, make sure none of your pins bent when you did your battery pull. Sometimes one of the pins gets bent and it won't turn on, you have to make sure all 3 pins are touching the battery.
I think the answer to his question is between the lines :

Since Android doesn't/never brick devices and he hasn't flashed anything and his battery was working fine, Simply it's a bent pin
orangekid is correct.
Thanks for yours answers friends.
Pins are Ok.
I try to hard reset but nothing.
So when baterry is empty i cant charge it with MAGLDR i didnt know that.
Maybe is only batery empty.
I dont know no one with HD2 .
Is the same batery with Desire HD ?
Can i mesure voltage on batery i have multimetar at home.
Im having wall charger for my bluetooth headset with LED when charging its light RED,so i put HD2 withaout batery its green(no charging) and put batery in HD2 its light RED(charging).
P.S: Sorry for all this questions but im use to conect to net over HD2,
now im on dialup and this is very slow way for surfing and googling around.
Ok, So the phone is turned off. When you plug it in, don't you see the orange light even for 1 second?
Also, was the phone really hot when it freezed?
No there is no orange led turn on,phone is cold,i even try to charge batery direcly, voltage on batery is 3.75V.

Head down to your nearest T-Mobile store, most likely they have a battery or two you can test it with. If that ends up being the case, theres also chargers you can get pretty cheap that charge batteries stand-alone, along with a spot for a usb cord to charge a battery and phone at once. Got mine off ebay for 4$
Yeah, I can't see how you can brick your device without actually flashing something.
I, on the other hand, flashed a bunch of things like an idiot and I think I really may have bricked my poor HD2. It gets no power, and I've tried a second battery and that doesn't work either although it does turn on with external power.
Here's a link to my thread if anyone has any insight for me.
I meant the moment it froze, was the phone hot?
Ye the phone was hot i played drag racing on line with wi fi conected when it froze.

If it was really hot, then it could be a hardware failure.
Mine also got hot while running gps and now appears to be dead, have tried another battery but get no lights when pluggin in, no bent pins, is it the motherboard are they cheap/easy to fix?
Thanks, i thought i briked my phone , i leaft it to charge this night and when i wake up it won't turn on, i was very scared until i read here that could be a battery pin problem so i saw that i had the middlle pin to high, just lowered i little the pin and the phone booted up, thanks a lot.
But now i'm worried because here i read that if the phone get's to hot has changes that it will brick, what would be the best solution to not brick the phone: downclock or just pray and don't use android at full capacity?
Sorry for my english but i'm better at reading then writing
Bricking caused by HD2 beeing too hot ??? I doubt it...
Nevertheless it is not adviced to always overclock at full speed...
Bricking from an overheat is quite common, I've seen a good number come through my store with that issue.
For some reason alot people think the dashboard is a great place for their phone while driving around Phoenix o.0

I'll throw this suggestion out there. Most likely it's not the problem, but maybe you can try charging your phone in a different outlet.

[Q] Dead HD2 with no reason !

Hello there
I have a T-mobile HD2, with Energy Rom, and AmeriCanAndroid SD Rom
they have been working perfectly for about 2 months....
yesterday, I was having a call, using the android, when the call ended I couldn't hang up and the phone froze... I waited for about 10 minutes and nothing different with the phone, just freezing! I took the battery off and reinserted it, and here i am, with a stone dead phone, not hard or soft resetting, not charging, and yes, the battery is charged.....
The phone is not booting at all, not vibrating, just as if it has no battery !
what should i do !?
PLEASE HELP ME !!!
and thanks for reading...
See if you can enter bootloader (vol down and power on) if you can then extract a stock ruu and place the leoimg.nbh on the root of your SD card using a card reader or other method, then enter bootloader and follow instructions to factory reset your phone
Hope this helped

thanks for answering but I can't turn the phone on in any way, even in boot loader !!!!
that's why I am crying, I don't know if the phone is bricked, but I didn't do anything to brick it !
Check the battery pins.
thanks man...
but it's not the pins or the battery, because i tried something different, i plugged the charger in and left it, then later I put my battery in a different hd2, and it was 100%, in other words, it's charging but no led is lighting up on the phone when doing so....
the charging circuit on the phone is intact, but the phone is not getting electricity as I see it now...
any new suggestions please?!

the actual pins that are coming out of the phone and touch the battery. The battery might be fine but if the pins it touches on the phone are bent it won't turn on.
I don't think this will work if your battery is working in someone else's phone but, whenever I had that problem, after checking then pins were straight, I'd stick the battery under my armpit for 5 minutes, then back in the phone, then back on charge. Either way, good luck.
@Orangekid - I've checked the status of my phone with HTC and it says "under repair"...fingers crossed...

Dead HD2, no sign of life.

Hi
A good friend of mine gave me his old HD2 that he's not using anymore(he got an iphone..).
I tried to turn it on - nothin happens.
I tried to charge the battery(both computer and wall-charger) - nothin happens (not even the LED).
I tried an extended Battery from another friend and turn it on - nothin happens.
what can it be?
It could be..
A tmous hd2 (red/green send and end) that's been bricked by wrong radio - test, does your PC ask for qualcomm drivers when you USB it?
A bent battery pin
They're the two testable known causes of said symptoms.
Does your battery work in friends phone?
1. its a tmous UK phone.. but in germany? lol and my computer does not even recognize it..
2. tried to bend it to all directions. nothin happens
of course the friends battery works. He used it before..

That's not what I asked... YOUR battery in HIS phone, (tho of course its a fairly moot point since his battery doesn't work in yours,,, just a double check to confirm your battery works)
Sorry, but sounds dead.
(Oh and its a regular hd2, only t mobile USA is different)
hmm external charger says 100%.. so it DOES charge.. or am i wrong?
It sounds like the circuit isn't completed..
open the back, take the battery out and look at the pins that connect the battery to the phone.. they should be sticking out about 2mm, make sure those connect with the battery and check to see if there is no corrosion on them (they should be shiny)
if that all looks okay the problem is inside the phone and you won't be able to fix it without opening it
they are all shiny i'll send it to some specialists and let them analyze it for 20 bucks..

HD2 dead !!

Hey folks, i have a HD2 which isn't turning on. I received a call and it just switched off. Now there is no activity in it at all. No led when connected to a charger. I had MIUI installed on the phone.
The repair people say that the motherboard needs to be replaced which would cost approx 12000INR.
Any way i could revive it back?
Please suggest. Thank you!

You can try the the freezer trick, put the device in a zip lock bag and put it in the freezer for a few minutes and then see if you can turn it on or charge it. You can also take a old USB cable and cut the mico USB end off and strip the wires back then touch the read to the + on the battery and the black to the - on the battery for a minute or two and then try to boot the device. I sorta souds like you were using MAGLDR and the battery died. You can not charge the device while it is off with MAGLDR. So I would try charging the battery first.
Thank you for replying. You're right i was using Magdlr. I'll try what you said

I've got the exact sam prob, the HD2 was using MAGLDR, and now it won't start (except for a few times it did), but I honestly can't figure how - since once it had been charged on an external batery charger, and then it turned on and worked for a while, but now it won't work with a charged battery...because I tried using it with another HD2 phone's battery which also has MAGLDR and which works (even with my phone's battery).
The pins have been changed, and it worked then also for a while I've been said, but it's not working again now.
Any help please?
TIA
P.S. I've tried ziplock...15min...nothing :/ How to try the USB? Which wires should I connect to which pins please?

something like this

or mini usb, or even an old usb printer cable, with the chunky end, , it doesn't matter which type.
Thanks samsamuel,
Seen the +/- signs on the back of the battery late, after having meassured the voltage, which is 4.14V (should I do the USB charge then even and how long is it safe since my battery powers up another HD2)?
TIA
if teh battery works in another device, then no, theres no point, its not that.
4.14 is fine, i think it goes up to about 4.2/4.3 when full, drops to the low 3.x when drained.
If the freezer trick didn't help either, then its gotta be either hardware, or something totally catastrophic, so if its an option for you, id try JTAG, failing that, id be considering using it for parts, , buying one with a cracked screen perhaps, and swapping your screen into it, ,
dont take my word for it, though, read learn and try things, you never know.

[Q] HD2 crushed suddenly (stuck in aMAGLDR v1.13 boot screen)

Hi, I have a problem with my HTC Leo. I have been succesfully using NAND Android (PacMan HD2) for over a year and now it suddenly crashed. When I try to boot it, it vibrates once on HTC screen (a white one) and than changes to aMAGLDR screen and vibrates 7 times. It does not show the menu, only labels at the top of the screen (aMAGLDR V1.13, build date and author).
Is there any possibility to fix it? The most important thing for me is not to lose my data, specially messages...
install magldr again. I did it, didn't erased anything. but try with your own risk.
sorry for my funny English
Thanks for advice, but... it won't be so easy any longer Yesterday when the phone was stuck on aMAGLDR screen I was trying to put it into bootloader (holding volume down and pushing reset button) to give you some more info about my HD2 and it has turnd off and never on again!;( Now it's not even possible to turn it on, it does not 'recognize' a charger (green LED not 'turning on' when I plug in a charger)... Do you think my Leo is now only a crap of sheet?:/

Whoa- there, slow down, buddy! You don't even know what's wrong with the device, you can't just "advise" him to JTAG his device!?
As shanman said, check the battery pins, one or all were likely bent during a battery pull or something. If that's the case, it's not serious and does not require a jtag to fix. Simply straighten the pins and your device should start working again (If the battery still has charge).
If that didn't work, try another battery, or recharge the battery externally.

Battery pins look pretty nice, I also checked the phone with second battery... But the point is that it does not even react for plugging a charger (I heard that HD2 boots up when you plug the cable and then pull the battery in). And what more the phone had crashed while I was trying to put it into bootloader, without pulling the battery out...
