Users with JellyBean - Nexus S - Nexus S General

hi people, I will buy a Nexus S smartphone, and I want to poll the people with Nexus S and JellyBean update Remote in your divice, for example:
you should answered:
"I have a Nexus S (i9020T) with jellybean installed remote"
or
"I have a Nexus S (i9020A) with jellybean installed remote"
It is a poll, that will give me a reason to buy a Nexus S, and what is the model I need.
thanks you guys!

If ur in north america u probably have the jellybean update... I hear the Australians are having trouble getting it but there's a simple way to force the update to u if the phone is only coming with gingerbread 2.3.6 or less...
I have a 9020a and I have jellybean

[INFO] Official ICS 4.0.4 is faster! | On GNex

Look the post here:

Hope it does the same with Nexus S.
Cheers for Google.
4.0.4 for Nexus S, When is due out?
The leaked version is faster for 4g.
is 4.0.4 out for the Gnex? if so when will it be for NS?
Yes Galaxy Nexus owners are getting the OTA update. Not sure when it will come out for Nexus S.

faster for 4g
Cant wait till they release the OTA for NS. (I think that the roms based on 4.0.4 will be muchhh better in performance..)
Galaxy nexus was only on 4.0.2 officially.
Older builds we had were lackluster also but then we got 4.0.3 and was a huge difference in terms of performance and smoothness
the jump from 4.0.2 makes sense
not sure though about us i think its mainly bug fixes..ect we will notice
nice to see its rolling out hopefully ours is not far behind
It'd be nice if they released something, anything for the 4G :/ The 4.0.4 leak is really really good but something official just so we know Google still <3's us :'(

I need links as people get them. I will post the direct Google links in this thread and the OTA files will be mirrored at http://www.randomphantasmagoria.com/firmware/nexus-s for posterity.
These are the links I have so far. If anyone gets OTAs from any other builds or devices not listed here, please post so I can add them here.

So now that it's official that the Nexus S is getting Jelly Bean, here are my guesses for release:
I9020T/I9023 - Mid july as stated
I9020A - Early August once it's been verified there are no problems with the OTA.
D720 - Giving Sprint two months to test Google's ROM and approve it for release, I say mid September
M200 - Total wild card, but I'd be shocked if it was before October.

Wrong. That's the SDK dump. He was asking for a dump of the actual Jelly Bean Galaxy Nexus OTA that was issued to some people at Google I/O today.
They are not receiving their Galaxy Nexi until 4 PM PST (7 PM EST)
Wow Nexus S get Jelly Bean!!
This device is amazing!
Still the best Nexus device IMHO.
I'm sure the URL of tonight's OTA for the Galaxy Nexus can be grabbed by logcat and then downloaded. Then it's just a case of waiting for it to be ported to the Nexus S.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

No you're right. ICS will have had the smallest life ever. What, like 6 months? :|
I'm fairly certain we're gonna see a port of the gnex rom or of the SDK before the official release.
Honestly, I can't wait! Although, I'm gonna miss Nyandroid in Settings->Info...

I still can't believe Nexus S is cheaper than Galaxy S at dealers in my country. Two of my friends got Galaxy S, while I got Nexus S for lower price, and I'm the one laughing in their faces now.
Really, Nexus S is now probably the official king of it's competitors. Pure Google, first in update line, hardware is still not outdated, and it's cheap!
Best phone I could have ever bought.
My take on things.
Cyanogenmod devs are at the conference am I right? Also they are giving out phones with 4.1 beta software. I wouldnt be surprised if we had 4.1 image on our phones by friday

Jelly Bean Update for VZW Xoom coming "Q4 2012"

The official Motorola Android Update page has been updated and it lists the VZW Xoom's Jelly Bean update as Q4 2012. It claims it'll be an upgrade to "Android 4.1.1" but I highly doubt that. I guarantee it'll be 4.1.2/JZO54K.
Owning a Verizon Xoom and a Verizon Galaxy Nexus is so frustrating from an update standpoint. Even though updates come directly from Google, Verizon's testing and approval requirement takes forever. We know Verizon had been testing the JRO03H ROM (the same 4.1.1 ROM that the WiFi-only model got) as far back as early August. Obviously they couldn't get it approved before 4.1.2 came out, so I'm sure now they're testing 4.1.2 instead. Regardless, assuming Verizon can't find anything to ***** about with the update, we should have it soon.
Once the update rolls out, I'll update the first post here with a link to the OTA file so we can all flash it manually and not have to wait.

I don't like any of the custom ROMs available for the Xoom. They are all full of customization and features that I don't need or want. Plus I get squeamish about custom kernels written by people who have little to no documentation on the hardware. The stock ROM is simple, clean, and stable. As a daily driver, it's perfect for me. Less is more.

well, your opinion is yours opinion I prefer custom ROMS over the Stock (just don't know if will keep thinking like this after I get a HTC One X). Even Brazilian Stock ROM coming with some apps very useful (like the best file manager I used, quick office HD for free...), I think Stock ROMs are too slow and don't satisfy my personal needs of development

Yeah see I am a developer in my day job so I have no interest in doing it outside of work. I have my Android devices to use them in my day-to-day life and for me, the stock ROMs work best for that.

I am with you on ROM preference, Custom ROM run out of system space and stock don't. I turn my verizon 3g into a WiFi only for a pure jb experience. When the mood hit me I use cm10 for a custom feel.
On the bright side, we are already in the fourth quarter, so it could be any day.

How long will we have to wait for 4.2??

Hi all,
the nexus 7 is my first nexus device (although I am drooling at the nexus 4 ),
but I was just wondering if anyone else, who has owned a different nexus device, could tell me how long you normally have to wait for the next version of android?.
Thanks in advance

Some of the features will be available on the Nexus 7, some won't and you'll need to get a whole new device costing a small fortune to get the full update. It might break things along the way without giving you a way back.
....but then I remember it's Android and not Apple!

..... I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say here.
Being part of the whole Nexus line, there's a good chance we'll get 4.2 pushed out when the Nexus 4 and 10 get released. Google will be keen to have its flagship line all under the same version.

I agree. Google made it pretty clear (to me at least) that the Nexus line will be receiving the 4.2 update. There was absolutely no mention of Nexus 7 not receiving certain aspects of the update. I would say that Nexus 7 would receive the update the same day the 4 and 10 are released as well.

This is a joke for you guys who don't get it. All Nexus devices get updated I think. I think even old ones like the Nexus S and all that.
Lol well if he meant it as a joke it didn't read like one. Especially since a new device owner was asking about something he deemed a legit concern. If it was meant as a joke then my fault.

Google was supposed to release the 4,2 update on October 29th, but according to Asus it has been delayed ever so slightly.Asus says to expect an update to android 4.2 very soon.

Got a reliable source on that? I'm guessing no because it's not true. Google has never released an OS on the day it was announced, and when they announce a new device, they never release the OS for older hardware until the new device is available. So the correct answer is to expect the update in the weeks following the N4/N10 release. Hopefully it will be out within a week, but it can take longer.
Google has said they will start rolling out 4.2 from Nov 11th, 2 days before new devices release.

[Q] Thoughts on being updated to 4.4?

Though it's great that the Note 3 will come with Jellybean 4.3, Kit Kat 4.4 has already been announced. I see that 4.3 will be coming to the Note 2 and the GS3 sometime in October, I'm presuming to get everyone caught up to speed with the Note 3. How long would it be, before we could expect 4.4 to roll out on the Note 3? Just wanting general thoughts/opinions.

Nobody knows what 4.4 is about, nobody has much clue about GN3 performance till we start using it, and we have a thread about 4.4 on GN3. I couldn't care less about version of android as long as the phone works perfectly.
If someone is really fussed about 4.4, here's some facts:
It will take time to come to GN3, because note-series is not about latest android. It's about all proprietary stuffs stuffed into the handset.
If you want 4.4 at the earliest, get a Nexus - end of discussion.
You won't get 4.4 on GN3 for probably 4-5 months after release. You know this very well, infact everyone knows that. What more you would want to discuss here is a mystery to me. If I am totally honest here, there is nothing to discuss on this topic.
Everybody knows how this (update scenario) works, yet we spend countless time in unconstructive debate.

Moving to Q&A
A Nexus device is usually the only one to get the new OS for a couple of months. We will see devices announced at CES likely with 4.4 on them (maybe) but as to the GN3 getting it, late spring into early summer. Think April to June time frame depending on when it gets released. Verizon of course being DEAD LAST!
