[Q] Etc/wifi folders from other FW versions? (-> WiFi problems Gingerbread) - Milestone 2 General

Hi guys,
I recently updated my (german retail) Milestone 2 from 2.2.2 to 2.3.4, original Motorola update.
Since then, I experience problems with my WiFi, a few times per day it seems to disconnect. It still displays WiFi connection, but no data transfer is possible, only switching off and on WiFi helps then.
I tried several possible solutions but none worked so far.
I found that quite a few people solved this kind of problems by replacing files in the etc/wifi folder with files from different Android versions. To me, it would make perfect sense to try the files from the stock ROM with Android 2.2.2 which worked flawlessly before. unfortunately, I have no backup from my phone.
Is there a possibility to get the etc/wifi folder from other MS2 Firmware versions, for example from the .sbf files? I have a few of them handy to try several ones...
I really appreciate your help!
Cheers
Tobi

maybe yo can decompile the 2.2 sbf with moto android depacker and try to mount on linux OS the CG66 (i think that is the system partition)
or maybe use the wifi files from CM7
Sorry for my english..

Thanks for your answer!
I did some experiments in the mean time, replacing singe files never helped. But I also found that the wifi files of custom roms are easily accessible. I first tried CM7 and replaced the complete wifi folder, seemed to work. At the moment, I'm trying the wifi folder from MS2Ginger 4 as it is also Gingerbread and the content of the folder looks more similar to the original Motorola 2.3.4 one. So far, no interrupts, I will report back if this was the ultimate fix.
Cheers
Tobi

Is it possible to run Cyanogen 4.2.6 on the SDK Emulator?

Is there a good way to get the current version of Cyanogen up and running on the SDK emulator? I have several people that complain about my application widget closing when they open or close the keyboard. The logs show nothing pertaining to my application and the only thing they all have in common is a stock G1 with Cyanogen 4.2.6 and no home screen manager. Many others with non-modded G1's do not have this problem.
I'd like to test it out in the emulator since I now only have a Droid
I found some instructions with an image file to use for this, but it was for a very old version of Cyanogen.
do a nandroid backup and then copy the files from it in to the directory of a virtual device you have already created
then all shall be good
Is there a good source to snag a existing nandroid backup of 4.2.6? I don't have a G1 or any other device to run a nandroid backup on. Too bad too cause I just shipped out my old HTC Magic a few days ago. Now all I have is my Droid.
I'll search around for one and report back if I locate one.
just did a dump for you
http://code.google.com/p/cyanogen-updater/downloads/list
itl be up in a few minutes
You just need to make a yaffs2 image of the /system folder from cyan's update.zip. The boot.img is already in the zip.
Search for mkfs.yaffs2.
That nandroid backup works perfectly in my AVD 1.6 emulator. Thanks so much for building that for me. I can test all my apps against Cyan now
Thanks goldenarmz too, I'll save this away for future versions. Does this work with Hero roms as well?

Yes, you can run anything on the emulator like that
I also found out that trick a few days ago. The only problem I have is that I do not get an Internet connection.
Does the SDK simulate wifi, 3G or is there just another fictive network device? I've got DroidWall and Y5 installed. Furthermore I've got sometimes problems to start my wifi after rebooting (problem by manual copied wpa_...cfg, I guess).
I am not really sure where to search. I will investigate the stuff in the paragraph above but perhaps you've got another few hints for me?
btw: I've got 4.2.13, but that shouldnt make a big difference, should it?
Anybody has found a fix for internet Issue for Cyanogen system.img file and Android SDK emulator?
Regards,
Oscar.

Wi-Fi Drivers, libs

I want to know have can i solve my wifi problems without installing new rom on it.
What is the wireless driver, where are they in my system files?
We can fix the camera issues with changing camera lib files. Can i do that for wifi?
Wifi Problem is ;
I can connect wifi, first it was work fine. After several minutes it dropped and not connect any internet, after several seconds it reconnectted. It always keep going this way.
Can you please help me on this?
What ROM version are you running?
B137 stock and modaco.com/content/huawei-u8800-ideos-x5-u8800-modaco-com/342205/23-june-b137-r3-flb-custom-rom-for-the-huawei-u8800-with-online-kitchen/
I have two of them on my clockwork recovery. Both of them have same issue. I want to try other roms, but its too hard for me to give the time for each rom. So i want to try other roms wifi libs, driver, firmwares.
Not a fan of 137s I've tried so far...You should try these versions:
- V100R001C00B136 (Overseas General version) 2011-05-17
- V100R001C17B160CUSTC17D002 (China Unicom) 2011-04-29
http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Huawei_Firmware_U8800
To install any of the ROMs, just download the Huawei Firmware you want and unzip it, there should be a folder called "dload" copy that folder and its contents to your sdcard.
Power off phone then hold both volume buttons while powering on the phone, the update should start.
I don't understand why you think it's easier to change a lib/driver and spend a huge amount of time trying to get it to work, when it takes 30 minutes to install a new ROM and all previous applications, if synced with a Google account. When I first got the phone, I've installed like 6-7 ROMs in a matter of hours...
So, in my opinion, you should try the B160 or B136 before you actually start fiddling around with libs.

Are you read my first post ? I Don'T want to try roms. Install new rom, try wifi, over and over. End when find it, wait for the all install downloaded. Chancge launcher and other apps to what you want. It is just boring. I try 4 different froyo roms and nothing seems worked. If i know the what file i must replace, i just have time. Many many more time.

) I've read your post, but if you think this is windows, where you can just change the wifi drivers, you're in for a treat . The newer ROMs wifi is fine, so whatever you're doing, you're obviously not doing it right or you have a faulty phone.

I don't understand a thing from your post. Are you understand me?
IF IS A WINDOWS, I CAN CHANGE DRIVER FROM SYSTEM32/DRIVERS. Or install new driver for it. Newer roms are for WHO ? Mine and other my friends in turkey, have same problem. Even they updated the B137 with updata.app from original sources.
Please if you don't know or understand my post, just leave it to be. Obviosly i can't decribe my problem to you.
The whole windows thing was a comparison...All I was trying to say is that upgrading drivers is NOT EASY, as the problem may not be in the lib file.
You better go and learn some ENGLISH, before you try and understand the answers you're given. ) quote "Are you understand me?"
Very very few people have wifi problems like you are experiencing. This isn't to say it doesn't happen as obviously you are having issues, but it's not a rom issues. It's likely that your problem is either a hardware issue with the phone or an issue with your router settings.
Currently there aren't any alternative wifi libs you can try since all the roms are using exactly the same wifi libs which are located in the kernel image, not the system.
I've been experiencing the same problem -international B136 ROM- however I think it may be the router that is the cause of it. Whilst in the main house with the new wireless g router, no issues, everything works fine. In my extension with the old wireless b router the problem happens all the time.
The problem doesn't really bother me to much, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents just in case you were after some more information on the issue =)

Definitely, if you've got something like B133, the first thing you have to do is upgrade to 136-137 or 160. You will see huge improvements in terms of Wifi.
is there any problem in b136 or b160? Which one should i apply?
In my view, the best of stock ROMs is B160. The battery lasts longer and it's got less problems.
how can i see my rom version? and do u send offical b160's link?
Go to Settings >>About Phone and scroll down to Build Number. It should look like this U8800V100R001C00B133SP01 and the bit that interests you is B133 or whatever version you've got.
Since Modaco Wiki is down, try this link:
http://www.filefactory.com/f/0f067250fb54623e/
B160 is called China Unicom in that list.
I've managed to get a cached version of Modaco Wiki that is currently down.

[Q] MIUI 1.8.5 vs 1.9.2

I'm currently running MIUI 1.8.5 installed on the Nook itself. It runs so well that I'm hesitant to try 1.9.2 because I've uninstalled and reinstalled ROMs before and had them act completely different. The only issue I have right now is with playing videos so I'm very happy with what I have. But does anyone know what changes were made in the new version that might make it worth trying?
The only difference that I saw was that the update seemed to run a lot 'snappier' for me. But after a couple of days use with 1.9.2, it started freezing up on me. Over and over and over. I tried re-installing it a couple of times, but in the end finally gave up. Back to 1.8.5 which still freezes on me occasionally.
I know people have varied results with each rom. If it hadn't done the freezing thing, I would have loved the update and stuck with it.
1.9.2 is running great for me o emmc but if ur running on sd card i think a bunch of ppl are having problems with any miui on the sd card
Thanks guys!

I was running this on emmc.
I'm not too worried about it if there aren't any significant changes. I have 1.8.5 running on emmc, and it's running so well that I probably won't mess with it unless at some point there is a fix to improve the video playback.
Hi,
I am running a somewhat older version of MIUI on my NC. I run it off the emmc and it seems to work quite well. I got a friend at work interested, and he installed a newer version of MIUI, probably 1.916 or something like that (its the current release this week.) I also bought a nook color to haque for my mother to use.
Here is my question: I would like for both of mine to use the same ROM, but I have already laoded a bunch of games and other apps on mine. If I re-flash the ROM with the newer MIUI, I imagine that it wipes out everything. So...., is there a way to update the ROM and keep the programs and settings for wifi and the like ? I bet it requires renaming the file somehow, but I do not find any specific instructions for the MIUI roms.
Yea just minimally wipe your cache not factory reset then flash the ROM all your apps setting ect. Will be there

It is also a good idea to use the MIUI built-in Backup app to save all your settings and apps (just don't include contacts in the settings section as it seems to duplicate all of your contacts). This way, if you need to do a clean install, you can easily restore all of your stuff.
O.K., I took another microsd card and backed it up using the backup portion of CWM. No I am ready to install the newer miui. Question is...
I am sitting at the CWM prompt and I am thinking that I should somehow rename the MIUI.us-encore_1.9.16_eng_Deo_zipA_Signed_andmer.zip file into something like update.zip ??? Or, do I more siply pick that file name from the SD card and apply it as a zip ? on top of the MIUI 8.05 or whatever it was I already have ?

You can simply pick the filename from the SD card, no need to rename the file. Have you followed the directions for formatting, etc as well? What is on your Nook now?

Corrupted data file on Tytung's ICS SD

Hello everyone,
I have been using tytung's ICS SD build since the very beginning, I had about 120 apps installed and I was really happy with that build. Yeah, it did restart out of blue sometimes, but I was used to it.
But after I took the battery out yesterday (because the phone was lagging like a snail), it didn't turn back on. I left it on charger for the night, hoping it is just temporary, but I woke up to see the bootanimation again.
I have already tried to upgrade to 2.0 (I've used 1.5 then), but with no results. I mean, when I used a new data.ext4 file everything went smooth, no, damn smooth. Still, I would prefer to use my old data file. Is there any way of "repairing" it or at least copying the files from it?
Sorry if it was already mentioned, I've browsed through about 20 pages of threads and didn't find anything which could help me.
Thanks in advance!

[Q] No phone line in latests Quark's ROMs

Hi. As Quark's KitKat nightlies advanced a lot since the last time I've installed them, I decided to try the 10-02 ROM.
I installed the new bootstraper, then, after rebooting, resized the NAND. Afterwards, installed the ROM, booted it, and then rebooted to install the recommended GApps. Everything went just fine so far.
I allowed Google to restore some programs and configurations, and when it finished,
I switched the base band to be able to use the phone line.
I use America » Argentina » 6.14.7, which always worked well for me. But now, it may connect for a few seconds, and then, it won't connect for hours. It's not the phone company ("Personal"), 'cause everybody around me is using it without a problem.
I just installed the 10-03 ROM and it has the same issue for me.
The last ROM I've installed is from June or July. I can't remember.
Did something change in the way ROMs are flashed in this time I haven't read the thread so much?? New TWRP, or something??
I have read through the pages, but I wasn't able to find anything.
Prior flashing, I was making and receiving calls and SMSs normally.
I'll appreciate any kind of help.
Thanks in advance.

NVM, it began to work by its own... =/
I recommend you to use Claro baseband instead of 6.14.7 and try the metod of copy the baseband in /etc/motorola/basebands/ to sdcard with es file explorer or any of that kind, and then replace every file in /etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default everytime you switch ROMs
that works perfect for me
