Was in Tmobile store here in Scotland enquiring about when the 4G version on Galaxy S3 would be arriving in store , much to my shock and happiness on hearing this news that Tmobile will be pushing and over the air OTA update to enable 4G in UK for Samsung Galaxy S3 , but with the nano-sim problem still to be sorted ,i was informed by the store manager that Samsung have made the phone ready already for 4G but just needing the update to fix , If this is indeed true then why are we hearing about an LTE 4G version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 to be released soon in Europe ? maybe the UK version is indeed 4G compatible , if this is true its awesome will not need to buy the new LTE version plus it will put a a big steakknife into the slimy greasy apple ****ephone5

why would I invent such a story and why would the store manager who also has a Galaxy S3 and has been told his phone is 4G compatable
I think they kept this all hush just to serve an ace to Apple
time will tell Samsung knew 4G was around the corner in Uk and europe and they must have made the phone ready haha
Ebenezer Good strikes again!
The phone is not physically 4G compatible. That's why it is nonsense. It doesn't have the required basebands in the spec.

But to clear the matter up its simple give us the evidence to believe the tale .
If one manager knows then it will be all over the place and leaked to every TDH .

On a more positive note
You'd still have to live in one of the 16 cities that EE is rolling 4G out to, to benefit from it. Seeing as 70% of the population don't, I don't mind waiting 2 years before I upgrade. Majority of smartphone users download stuff through their home Wifi, not out and about.
I personally wouldn't want to use EE's 4g network now if this turns out to be true, they have a monopoly on a new technology, therefore they can charge a fortune.
And don't expect reasonably priced unlimited data, expect about 1GB for about £35 if you are lucky (this is just speculation) so your 4g will be pretty much useless.
LOL this is the funniest thing i have ever heard next thing you will hear is there is no need to upgrade to the gt-i9305 because we can also activate an extra gb of ram.

That is from the site you posted, meaning it was the 4g version which we all know is coming anyway, if it was the GT-I9300 it would just say that they were using the galaxy S3, not a specific 4g version.
It just shows CNET got hold of one to test EE's 4g network on.
I would pee myself with excitement if this was true.

Nope, you will only get 2G (EDGE).
t-mobile and at&t use different 3G frequencies, so if you unlock it you will only get EDGE speeds. Not worthy IMO, you have lots of options in your country, i would recommend to wait for the samsung galaxy s II phone.
Will work on the network but data will be at Edge speeds, not 4G.

On the new Nexus S - if you run out of internal storage - what size memory card can you add? Oh, wait they left off the SD card slot on that model. But those super AMOLED screens are really easy on the battery right? Oh wait, if the screen is black they use less juice but not otherwise.
Sorry, had to pick on you. Suffered with the captivate for 8 months..... yeah i drank the Koolaid - now i know better - but samsung sure can spin it.

That code process is to unlock the phone to enable it to be used with networks other than AT&T. But that doesn't get you data speed any faster than 2G/Edge using an Atrix on T-Mobile's network.
I'm a little confused here. You guys are saying that the Atrix will only get 2G/EDGE speeds on TMobile because the frequencies are different.
I am currently using the Nexus One.. how is it that I'm getting 3G speeds with a phone that is compatible with both AT&T and TMobile then??
Doesnt this mean that the Atrix should be able to get 3G speeds as long as it has the appropriate software? or am I not understanding something..
There are 2 kinds of nexus ones.. one with AWS bands (tmobile) and one with the regular 850/1900 (ATT). That's why you see them work on both tmobile and att. But a single device won't work on both bands.
It is a hardware issue. No software flashing will be able to fix it. If you bought the wrong one then you're stuck with it.

False. There's not a chance in the world that is true. T-Mo USA and AT&T use mutually exclusive bands. No carrier-branded phones carry both bands. The only modern phone that carries bands necessary for 3/4G on either network would be the upcoming, not-for-sale/developer-only Nokia N950.

The Nokia N8 and E7 also have the 3G frequencies necessary for both At&t and T-mobile, as well as Europe/Asia (850/900/1700/1900/2100). However, I agree with you that no At&t/T-mobile branded device carries all the needed bands.

Ah, I see. I didnt realize that there are 2 types of the Nexus One.
I had assumed that since they are not branded by any carriers that they were all the same device.
Thanks
I was really hoping to have my TZones internet plan, which runs at 3G speeds on the Nexus, run on an unlocked Atrix but that doesn't look possible.
Are there any phones newer than the Nexus One that will work with Tmobile 3G and are unbranded by Tmobile?
The branded Tmo android phones lock out my Tzones.

Here's a list of phones that will work with tmobile 3G. Take your pick. You may have to source it from somewhere else if you wish to buy it unlocked and unbranded.
The Nexus S is unlocked and unbranded even if you get it from tmobile. But since you are coming from the Nexus One, it is up to you if its worth the upgrade. Other than the Nexus S, have a look at dual core phones.

I have a thought as if you could change the phone frequency settings with sqlite editor i mean if you can disable the entitlement_check to enable theathering with AT&T's 2gb plan then we should be able to figure out how to change the frequency ratings of the phone to be able to run on t-mobiles 4g ... I wish that someone with a little more Knowledge could help out with this..

You know the Epic 4G is just Sprint's variation of the Galaxy S? T-Mobile's is the Vibrant, AT&T's is the captivate, Sprint's is the Epic 4G, and the global GSM version is the Galaxy S. Sprint just made it fat with a keyboard.
ofcourse i knew it was a variant of the galaxy s. you also do realize that the epic is the only one with a keyboard and the look that i like.
that's why i got a DZ. it has a keyboard. My biggest prereq is that is HAS to have a physical keyboard

The reason why it has a keyboard is because Sprint stipulated that it had to. In other words, Samsung didn't want it to have a keyboard but made one as a Sprint exclusive. Aka Samsung wouldn't be able to sell a GSM version to the rest of the world because it was a 1-carrier build. Why is that Samsung's fault? Its Sprints fault for wanting the exclusive. Not to mention that Samsung would have never made a keyboard one if Sprint didn't ask.

I'm not sure what you're getting at here, but all I'm saying is that I'm not happy that Samsung did not decide to release a gsm version. It does not matter if it was sprint's stipulation or anyone else's for that matter. the point is that they never released a gsm version and that I would've bought it if it was for a gsm network.
No need to go defensive for samsung. Not to mention that it is not difficult for them to sell a gsm variant for the epic.
after all this is simply my view on what I would've gone for if I had a chance, but i'm unhappy that they didn't because it was such a nice phone.

When carriers ask for a customization for a phone, that phone doesn't exist anywhere else. It was clear that Samsung was going to sell their variant of the Galaxy S without a keyboard. They sold the i9000 version in Europe sans keyboard, that was their unlocked GSM version. Sprint requested the keyboard and got it. Samsung made that phone for Sprint, its not like they had it in the pipeline and Sprint stole it as an exclusive to keep it CDMA. Its pretty clear Samsung was willing to do whatever the US carriers wanted by re-designing the phone 4 times for all the major carriers, and even some regionals.
I'd understand your frustration if it was a GSM worldphone kept on lock to AT&T/T-mobile, but in reality they'd have to redesign it to be a GSM version, and whether Sprint wanted this to be the only keyboard Galaxy S or not, Samsung surely wasn't going to make a GSM version of it.
But regardless, this has absolutely nothing to do with OP's question...
Which is exactly why i dont understand why you were so intent on arguing this when its not related to the op. It simply seems to me that you are arguing for the sake of doing so

do what I did: switched to at&t from T-Mobile, signed a 2yr contract to get an iphone 4s for 199, SOLD the 4s for 500, put a little bit on top and got myself a white i9100
and now on a $10 unlimited data plan because they have no idea what phone im using
at&t's 3g is nowhere near as fats as tmobiles but you have a better selection of "unlocked" phones
Telus will let you buy it online outright for a whopping $779.
Bell has it at $729 but requiresa $30 mtm contract and $35 setup fee.
Does not seem to be available on Rogers yet.
I'm glad I ordered from Expansys. Almost $100 cheaper and unlocked. I hate these bas****s and am really want to get to the point where I am not locked into them by virtue of the hardware. Rogers is terrible - I have a family plan (four phones on it) so any time we do an HUP, the contract period on ALL the phones gets reset. I have stopped buying locked in phones and am a year away from making them work to keep my business. I regret having left Telus when the iPhone was first released by Rogers in Canada. They had gone out of their way to keep me as a customer - to the point where I had some amazing free customer loyalty freebies. Currently I have nada from Rogers in that regard.

Well now that they have been announced I have a questions are there any differences between them ? Will they both get the same Dev support ? I made the mistake of buying the galaxy 2 from tmobile and worse decision I ever did had to get rid of it and buy a gnex since the support for the galaxy s2 was the worst and always behind..... Since I have tmobile might ass well use one of my upgrades and save some money on the lg4 just making sure I won't be stuck getting late updates or have luck of support like some people with the Verizon galaxy nexus are having but I understand why since they are using lte which changes the phone around......
thanks for all the help in advanced
There literally is no difference other than the contract you sign.

NO! Pay $150 more to not have to worry about a contract, PLUS pay less with a Value or Pre-Paid Tmo plan.
It is too soon to tell if there will be a software difference. Anyone who says differently needs to provide a link showing proof.
The hardware will be the same.
Actually, it seems that the T-Mobile version will have 42mbps HSPA+, while the version in the google play store only goes up to 21mbps HSPA+.
Other than that, I would assume they would be identical.

FFS people. There are not two versions. It has 8GB or 16GB, those are the SKUs. They're both 42mbps HSPA+.
Google's own Play Store had a typo. It's even been fixed there: https://play.google.com/store/devic...wNV9uZXh1c1VTXzFfcHJvbW9fMTM1MTUyODMyNzI1OCJd
It's DC-HSPA+ 42mbps.

My bad, I saw the 21 earlier and I thought it was some deal between T-Mobile and Google. The Galaxy Nexus international and US unlocked versions were identical hardware-wise, and since there won't be a CDMA version, there shouldn't be any differences with the Nexus 4

Not hardware-wise, but there could be software-wise.
Look at all the yakju variants, which are identical hardware, but different software.

Im on a family plan and planning to keep tmobile since I have 3 lines in this account so wasting an upgrade doesn't really bother me
No offense but I think the best place to ask this question is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1908
