whats happen if one country block IMEI of the phone and you will take this phone to another country???
will work or not?
?
Why'd it get blocked? Blocked IEMI numbers are usually because they are stolen.

TC,
I will tell you the answer after you return the stolen phone.
Good day.
ok why already everyone think that is stolen??? be honest with you guys i have no idea why they blocked my phone... i send to service they conformed that the phone is blocked becouse it was stolen... on my question why they decided to block it after i was using it for 8 months they couldnt give me answere...
quuestion is what i can do about it if i bought phone on ebay??? i have all the detiles of transaction and they guy detiles, shall i go on the police station to say that they guy is selling stolen goods?
Relax man.
It is not your fault you bought an stolen device.
This things happen. However it is quite unpleasant to have your phone stolen.I think you would agree.
Since you can not use the phone you might as well give it back to the owner.
The phone was blocked probably because someone reported the phone to be stolen. The police will take the phone for sure, and maybe the seller from ebay did not know it was stolen. But who knows.
Did you get any documents,an invoice or something , when you got the phone on ebay?
Good luck.

As stated above I would return device as it sounds like its stolen. I would also report it to ebay as you appear to have a legit case which should be investigated by them. If you have kept copies of ducoments/trasnactions etc you could also possibly get refunded
Well don't return it unless you get a refund first. If you paid by PayPal try to file a dispute and tell them it's a stolen phone. If they refund your money, you can either take the phone to a local carrier store and let them return it to the original owner, or just sell it on eBay yourself. If you don't get a refund, just sell it on eBay so you can recover your wasted money.
As far as taking it to another country, I don't think they'd be able to block it internationally, that doesn't really seem plausible.

Sorry, I definitely don't support stealing or helping people steal. I'm just saying if there are no other options, he might as well sell it or else he's lost $600+ for nothing.
OK but still no answere for my question how came that someone (orange) blocking "stolen" phone after 8 months????

If it's stolen I'd assume it can be blocked indefinitely.

It's quite likely that the seller himself has reported the phone lost/stolen in order to make an insurance claim. It's even more likely if you bought it boxed and with the charger and all other bits. This is always a significant risk when buying a mobile phone from ebay. I suggest you contact the seller first of all and see what he says.
As people said here the right thing to do would be going to the police, which obviously means submitting the phone with no refund. And possibly helping to catch another thief (God knows we hate them!)
And if you go abroad (e.g. Poland) then yes your phone will work.
I sold a phone on Ebay to somebody in Cyprus.
The buyer claims he never received it and filed a claim, I lost 300 bucks and a mint HD2.
I found out the buyer now sold a similar phone on Ebay too, approx 3 or 4 weeks after I shipped mine. I was able to get my IMEI number from T-Mobile (very helpful, I was impressed).
Can I find out where my phone is ?
Buyer ID was " closedosier " now he changed to "gericy"
IMEI 357779030232175
Kinda sounds like they pulled a fast one on you and actually got the phone then sold it but told you they did not get the phone. Could T-Mobile not track it with the IMEI? I wish I knew of a definite way for you to track it via the IMEI. I did find this on Google though, here is the whole list Google pulled up. best of luck man.
Did you tell tmo to block the imei too while you were on with them? That's about all you can do, since its involving separate countries.the main prob with that is most countries have their own blacklists, so it may not do anything, but with a hint of luck the buyer gets it blocked and complains. You don't get it back but at least the seller loses out and gets a dodgy seller review.
Just gonna have to claim on your postal insurance, (please tell me you sent it "signed for",, if not,, well,, no comment)
TMobile cannot block it since it is not their phone anymore, I already asked, I have to file a Police Report.
I mailed it Priority with tracking, but it stops at when it leaves the USA, no tracking to Cyprus. Insurance was declined since USPS does not publicize well they don't have insurance for some countries, and guess what....Cyprus is one of them.
If the guy that bought the phone from by buyer/thief has actually my phone, I feel sorry for him too, he'll get a surprise very soon since the IMEI will be reported as stolen, and he'll get scammed.
Blimey, I think I'd go into the theft business too,, no proof of delivery?? Its a wonder anyone sends anything there at all!
All hail the British post office!

Yeah it sounds like the person that bought/stole the HD2 knew of the no tracking and knew they could get away with it. That sucks that a world wide company like USPS can not do anything else for you. I think you should press the matter with USPS myself.

definitely....
USPS cannot do anything since there is no tracking and no insurance, I already went this route.
My only alternative, now that I have an IMEI is to file a theft report with the police dept. here then I can open a case with FBI and IC3 which are federal agencies working on international frauds.
I won't see my money back, but at least the phone will be listed as stolen, IMEI on blacklist, and will never be able to be registered.
I just feel sorry for whoever bought the phone from my buyer/thief

Shame those blacklists aren't global, if it goes outside of Europe/us it will probably work. Most stolen phones end up in Africa or the middle/far east where they couldn't care less.
As for the new buyer, did you email him to let him know to check the imei? (I already pointed him in the direction of this thread, fingers crossed it will black list and he'll complain about the seller.)
Next time be sure to inform the buyer that there is no insurance offered and no refunds. I've sold an hd2 to a similar place where insurance wasn't offered and made sure to tell him this.
It's not your fault if it gets lost in the mail. You sent it.
Also, if they didn't like it. You could have easily sold it to someone else.
Sent from my HD2 using XDA app
I found out the new Ebay ID for the guy is gericy
Beware of this person.
Apparently this guy does not know what the law is. Guess what, after I posted this thread on XDA he contacted me begging to remove, and claimed the fact that he "forgot" the claim, and he was "away" for a while.
He doesn't understand he broke the law and he should be punished. Try to rob a bank then when the cops find you return the money and say I'm sorry, you still go to jail. This is exactly what he did.
He refunded the money to me after making him reverse the neg feedback he left on Ebay, but then I found out he uses different IDs, probably to avoid consequences.
To all out there be careful if you buy anything from gericy
Cool, result!

Amen brother !! Don't underestimate the power of XDA !!!! It can catch thieves too.
Hah yea, shame it couldn't catch my burglar who took my xdaIIi and plasma telly. (tho it did get blocked so I assume it got thrown.)
AWESOME MAN!!!!
Glade you got your money back and keep pressing the issue. Dude should have to pay the consequences of his actions. Never under estimate the power of being persistence and the power of the internet.
Not sure you can do much other than what you already plan to do.
Also, I am not sure why would you risk sending your phone outside of US without the proof of delivery - $300 is $300 ... lot of money if you ask me...
Anyhow, best of luck and next time DO NOT SELL IT INTERNATIONALLY!
i just sent my nexus in to asus due to screen lifting last week, they shipped it back a day after it was received and told me "repair complete", i was pretty happy about the "quick turnaround" which turned out to be nothing but a lie, they just took out my tablet, put it in another package and sent it back to me!
does anyone know if there is anything i can do about this?(i did not buy it from google play, and my 30day grace period with the retailer i bought it from is over)
There are a few manual fixes flying about general section.
This is a development forum only
tried all except the glue one(not doing it since it will kill warranty(although thats useless))
ohg my wrong forum...anyone know how to delete?

GOOGLE/ ASUS have lost there mind..
I would say call them and demand that they send you a shipping label to ship it back to them because its NOT FIXED..
I am having a Huge issue with google and asus..
I sent in my 16 gb to asus for a refund due to a screen issue. Asus told google i sent them a 8 gb device . Google is refusing to refund my money or ship me a device back.. I have threatened them with filing fraud charges with my Bank..My bank told me to ship the 8 gb back and let staples BOX IT and verify the serial number and that that device is what is on the shipping label.. I will do this tomorrow. Then the bank wants me to bring the tracking information on both devices to them and they will ISSUE A Charge back on google.. They say im not the first customer with this issue from GOOGLE PLAY.
they have my hands tied . having to do this i will STOP Using google all together if this is not made right today. As its the Deadline my bank manager gave them in her Phone call to them...
So do not let them win.. huge companies do not care about one customer leaving leaving them.
Sorry to hear about your issue and Very sorry if my post to you is off topic .. But its related to the LACK OF SUPPORT from these two TECH Giants . I will sell my phone on ebay and move to ms PHONE. if i must.. I know it will not solve nothing but atleast i will feel better about no longer supporting a company who could care less about me..

finally got off the phone with asus, took 5 separate calls(first 3 ignored, the guys on the phone kept making excuses such as"i can't hear you", i even called myself after the 2nd one just to make sure there was no issue with my phone. on the 4th i finally got an rma number, and the fifth a shipping label(which they have yet to send to me, but i can wait.)
btw, should i pm someone specifically or keep waiting for a mod to move this thread(since i used the report button already)
oops i did not notice this was in the wrong forum area. If you reported it already they will move it to general.. I was just browsing from forum app.
it happens they will fix it and not scream to bad
good luck .
I have an opportunity to buy a Nexus4 16gb locally on craigslist for $400 which is the same price as my Google order that won't come in for another 5 weeks. The seller appears to be legit after getting his name and googling his name. The phone is in the original box with the Google seal stickers on untouched. I asked if I could open and put my SIM card to make a test call but, he stated no since it would devalue the phone if I decided not to buy, which I understood. I asked for his receipt but, he said all I needed for warranty issues was the imei number on the phone.
Please point out anything else I need to be looking/asking for as I will be picking it up tomorrow at 7pm cst based on feedback from all the awesome members in this forum.

1. Great price, but I would be suspicious on his reasoning on selling it for $400, not much profit to gain (if at all).
2. Googling his name? What does this have to do with anything? Does he own a company or something? This part makes no sense to me.
3. Google seal stickers... very easy to reseal it with black tape.
4. There wouldn't be any devaluing if you were to test the device with a SIM card. This is bs IMO. The only devalue would be if it was truly sealed and then which I can believe him.
5. I'm not sure about the receipt and warranty but depending on when he bought it. Google Play gives you 12 days for a RMA with them before you take it to the manufacturer. I would take the receipt though, as he can easily just report the IMEI and then you get screwed in the end or something.

3. Google seal stickers... very easy to reseal it with black tape. I will have to inspect case and stickers when I go to buy it. If looks suspicious, will pass.

. Will ask for receipt for your reason mentioned.
See my answers above. Thanks for your input.
You can make a deal like, Open it and I will test a call and if works I take it otherwise wont. So opening it and not taking it is not an option
Yeah if he won't let you test it **** it. You can't find the phone anywhere opening the box will hardly devalue it at all, if even. Also you should try and get the receipt because AFAIK you need more than just an IMEI for the warranty.

I would not even consider buying it if you cannot test the phone. The phone might not even be in there for all you know.
THANKS to everyone who responded to my inquiry. Got back a little while ago with the new Nexus4. It is Beauty and the Beast. Already put the case on it and now downloading my apps. The seller was on the up and up, was able to test by making a call, go over the entire phone specially the front and back glass.
Now I get to sit and play with the new toy this weekend. Got to cancel my Dec 8th order and help someone else get theirs quicker.

Congrats. Glad it all worked out and nothing suspicious happened. Happy to hear that the seller changed his mind and let you test it.
I would research the S/N from the box with Google to see if it is stolen. Also if you buy it be sure to get a receipt from the seller to show you bought it and how much you paid.
I bought one from kijjiji $550.00 BNIB 16 Gb Didn't even put a sim in. Broke the seal looked at it that's it.. But I also got a receipt First thing called google had the warranty changed into my name they checked the imei and it was legit :good:
I suggest you get a receipt it has his name on it..
BTW he ordered nov 27 got it on the 29 I bought it dec 16..
Only problem is that only the original buyer can return the device to Google for an exchange if a problem occurs. And they do keep track of who bought them so without the original receipt your only option for the warranty is through LG. What LG does is have you send the phone back to them for repairs which can take a couple weeks and in teh meantime you have no phone. This has been discussed a number of times in several threads already as a few unlucky craigslist buyers found out when they wanted to do an exchange for a defective device.

Hi Guys, I have bought my nexus 4 from a friend wich is on Germany, and as most people here I tried to find how is the warranty handled?
Since I live in Portugal, I had to use a german proxy to contact google support (through email) and that is what I found (not googling inf forums, just answers from google support):
Warranty is only valid in the country of Purchase.
I guess this is one of the silliest moves I ever seen.Apple gives 1 year warranty and the 2nd year (products bought in the EU) is on the country of origin, why doesn't google do that?
People this days move around very often, this simply doesn't make sense.
The warranty can't be changed to a person who has an adress outside the country of the phone's origin, and only the original buyer (or the person on wich the warranty is now) can ask google to have the phone repaired
People change phones more often than trousers and sell them to other people, why can't google be like every other brand than only need the Proof of Purchase?
I know that some members here had lucky getting replacements even not being hte original owner, but this should be the rule not the exception.
The warranty can't handled by LG, if the device has been bought through playstore
I guess every other nexus had warranty with the maker, why this one is different?it would make things so much easier.
I am thinking about making a petition asking for changing this, do you think it's worth it?
From what I've seen in the mails from the playstore support they seem like they are doing this for the first time, and didn't even realise that this policy is very very bad.
Let me know what you think.
I would not waste your time. It seems pretty common.
November I was forced to send my Galaxy S2 back to Samsung and they required I upload a copy of the receipt. (USA)
Perhaps your friend can exchange it?
Good luck!

A copy of a receipt is fine, being the original owner is not.
I don't have any problems with it, but next year maybe he is going back to Portugal, and I am going to Romania, so if something happens...
