Hey guys. Is there is a way to install Cyanogenmod 9 on my r800x without unlocking the (mostly) unlockable bootloader?

Nope. Requires custom kernel which requires unlocked bootloader. Sucks, but it's worth it

I actually have no problem paying the $20 to get it unlocked, but I'm 16 and don't have a paypal account with a credit card or bank account... or even money for that matter.
Though, I did manage to root it by downgrading to 2.3.3 and using SuperOneClick. I still really want Cyanogenmod.
Why not find a friend or family member with cc or dc & have them do it. Just pay them for it. paypal is easy to set up. Just a thought. Definitely worth it.

Is there anyway to relock the bootloader
i just bought this for my mom, and it came unlocked
and i want it to be as stock as it can be
10.1 us version 16gb
If you haven't done anything to it then it is stock... They are coming unlocked from the manufacturer, so there isn't really any need to have it locked.
thanks
so ill be able to update it, an use all of the stock services?
Of course. Why would Samsung cripple their device like that right out of the gate?

why you need to lock it ? it come with unlock. let it unlock

Just got the Dev edition - purchased mainly to stay on the unlimited plan and didn't expect to root until I'm bored with stock (~6 months).
Although, I would unlock if it means it will allow removing the bloat. Anyone know if this is possible when unlocked? I'd try but want to stay under warranty for as long as possible.
Warranty is voided with an unlocked boot loader anyways. What do you mean u are still under warranty? What was the point of getting the dev edition if your not going to unlock it?

The Dev edition is not shipped 'unlocked' - It still requires you to unlock it yourself. Therefore I'm still under a warrenty from motorola.
If I could remove bloat it would give me a good reason to void that warranty.
What else will unlock give me at this time? No ROMs yet.... and don't expect quality support of a rom for some time.
As I stated, the main reason for the dev edition was staying on the unlimited plan and the bonus of future ROM support (fingers crossed). The dev edition cost was the same as from verizon without contract. And as a bonus I have that little "Development Edition" signature on the kevlar back
Whattt! How'd you get it for the same cost?! I thought it was full retail price?
Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
He said "same cost from Verizon without contract". The developer edition is the same price as the retail version at full, non subsidized price.
That's what happens when I read too fast and go on this at work when I'm not supposed to lol.

If you unlock the bootloader you can do what you please with the device. If you decide to unlock then you will want to visit me @ www.aosp.us and download a recovery (both ClockworkMod and TWRP) and also get a full XML file made for the dev edition.

Dev edition same amount of bloatware as retail?
Does the Razr M developer edition have the same bloatware as the retail version? Since it is purchased direct from Motorola, I presumed VZW did not pack their garbage on there.
Thanks.
Verizon was sure to pack it with a bunch of apps. Just about everything can be disabled except media sync and backup assistant.

Is it branded too? with the verizon logo on the bottom?
Yes it has Verizon logo on front. It also has a Developer Edition logo on the back below the other Verizon 4G LTE logo.

I have a Dev Edition and I have not unlocked it yet either for one simple reason....
I want Moto JB first with all the bugs worked out. I can still get the OTA if I unlock the boot loader first but I'm not much for tempting fate. Once my phone is on JB and stable, the boot loader is getting unlocked, I'm rooting, and pulling all the Vz bloat and spyware off my phone.
I'm not really waiting for KLP from Moto.
Does anyone have an RSD image for the RAZR M? I keep one for the Atrix 4G just in case. I love insurance.

Yep - I saw it after I asked... and there is now a very handy how-to page live as well.
So what is the best process to remove or disable bloat ware once unlocked etc?

The latest KingRoot now can root the ATT Moto X on 5.1 (for real this time). I had to factory reset my phone before KingRoot was successful.
First backup your stuff. Then download the latest KingRoot apk from their website and install the app. Open the app and click on root. It may take several tries but it will work. Once you have root download Sunshine and click through the prompts, allow root access, etc. Enter payment information and unlock the boot loader!
So many times have I been let down by this ... I don't know if I should try it and get my hopes up. I'll be devastated if it doesn't work. xD
Edit: Well, looks like I am going to have to find a magical unicorn to gift you for this information. Indeed it works! Thanks much!
Congrats guys! I'm really happy for you.
Finally you can unlock your bootloader either!
just rooted, unlocked bootloader and installed cm13, thanks so much!!
How did you unlock the bootloader? Did you use sunshine after rooting, or some other method?

Does Kingroot keep failing for anyone else? Tried factory reset, should I not be signing in after that reset? This is try 6 or 7 I think for me, failing each time.

I didn't sign in or set up my device other than WiFi to download KingRoot as I was just going to reset and install CyanogenMod right after unlock. KingRoot will probably take many tries before success, it took me about 10 tries.
awesome news for sure but unfortunately i cant afford the $25 price tag to get it unlock, hopefully i can get it unlock someway other
Is it only for AT&T? if so, VZW Moto X XT1060s will never be able to have BL unlocked or rooted..

Verizon has notified Motorola that XT1096 bootloaders can now be unlocked via Motorola process. This has been discussed here:

I too can confirm that this works. I just unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP Recovery, and I'm on my way to flashing a custom ROM. YAY!
Side note: Paying to unlock the Bootloader is Bologna!!!

I was about to go buy a new phone so $25 was the much more affordable option.
could i get marshmallow?
Could I flash the x1095 pure firmware to get marshmallow by ota??
I was browsing the threads here and it seems the verizon htc 10 can be rooted, s-off, and bootloader unlocked via the Sunshine program. However, can I do it myself or do I have to mail the phone to someone?
Also, does the device have to have a certain build # to be able to root, soff, and unlocked? As I will ask the person I am selling what build they are using if so.
Thank you!
Hi,
I just got this phone yesterday and just went through this process. Upon immediately getting home from Verizon, I ran sunshine and it worked right away. I believe my firmware was something low like 1.19 or so. From what it sounds like though is that sunshine will work at even more recent firmware versions. Sunshine is just an app you can run yourself. All you have to do is enter your credit card and it will run. Hope this little bit of info helps.
Sunshine will work until Android N.
Verizon won't update us again til N
Pulled same crap with M9.

Opt for s-off locked. No need to do unlocked.
Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
Just to reinforce what others have said, the phone can be rooted with any current Verizon firmware versions, and you will be required to run Sunshine for S-Off/Locked status. As has been said Sunshine is a breeze to use and the developers certainly deserve the mandatory donation, lol. Though the carriers were quick to lose interest in the 10 I've been very happy with the purchase all around, I would definitely recommend it as a daily driver that's fairly safe to tinker with (due to s-off)!
Yes, you can do it by yourself but I haven't tried it yet. It is a kinda long procedure and in between the process if you press the wrong key or did something wrong then you end up with bricking your phone. Rest of all you can read here :- http://www.tekpirates.com/verizon-htc-10-unlock-bootloader-root-system-gain-s-off-install-cwm-twrp-recovery/.

With the latest version of sunshine, you can do it directly from the app. You don't have to mail your device anywhere.

Nope. Any variant of the HTC 10 should work.
Is the bootloader unlockable on the Sprint varient of the HTC 10?
Edit: while in asking, will an unlocked HTC 10 work on sprint? Does LOS 14 work on the Sprint htc 10?
Bootloader is unlockable both officially on htcdev.com and unofficially with Sunshine ($25). I assume an unlocked HTC10 would work on Sprint as long as it has CDMA capabilities. And for the last question, it does indeed work but with some modifications.

Just curious, what's Sunshine for when you can go through Htcdev? I've unlocked the bootloader on older htc phones thru Htcdev with no problems. Have they changed the process?

Ah okay. Will s-off be needed for LOS? I had no problems installing CM 10.1 on my HTC EVO 4G LTE with s-on. But to get cm 12 I had to update the bootloader which did need s-off.

In order for LOS to run on Verizon/Sprint variants, you have to flash a file in fastboot to modify the radio. The partition that's in is protected by S-ON so yeah you have to S-OFF. Sadly, in order to use Sunshine, you have to pay $25. I bit the bullet and bought it so I could run LOS which imo is too much for an app.
