Battery - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

Hey fellas.
I just want to know which is the best settings for governer and i/o scheduler so that i get more battery life.
Im using Ussr v5 and i' ve set max frequency 624MHz and min 312MHz.

use gov:conservative i/o sched:deadline
this wud save ur batteryy..

Droidwall is a much better app than juice defender, it saves a lot more juice than juice defender does and that too without any RAM and battery consumption.
Best Power Saving Governors
Best for Screen ON: Ondemand
Best Screen ON + performance: SmartassV2
- Good choice if you need a performance governor with some power saving
What about when my Screen is OFF?
Best Governor for Screen OFF
Without Deep Idle: Same as Screen ON > Ondemand
With Deep Idle: Any governor

U need root access for droid wall.. And juice defender is fine for un rooted devices.. Was talking about an unrooted phoneView attachment 1320249

The OPs phone was rooted..btw juice defender might save some battery but it takes a lot more since it runs background all the time, monitors every system function (wifi disabling per app settings) which needs more juice than normal, it depends whether it saves battery or not, for an aggressive user who shifts to wifi, 2g very frequently, it definitely saves, but for those who use 2g/wifi rarely or not actively, it wont matter much on the battery

How to setup droidwall after downloading to save battry....ihave downloaded it but cant undestand waht to do

Its because galaxy y stock kernel does not support droidwall.
Use a custom kernel which supports droidwall.

Does merruk kernel supports it?

Hmm.. I don't use merruk kernel, so m not sure. I just checked its features which says "NETFILTER Compatibility with DROIDWAL." so thought it supports.
Though it also have a to do list listing "DROIDWALL App Fully Working"

Smartassv2 and vr

from my experience governor give very small impact on battery live. if your phone mostly in sleep, like mine, i find best governor is performance. performance does not save power but it's maximize suspend (aka deep sleep). faster cpu working, faster it's job done, faster it's go to sleep. for moderate usage like browsing, any governor that design to work with android phone will work. the different is not too much. for heavy work, none governor can save your power.
for i/o scheduler, it does not have any impact to your battery.

no -volting.
its something different and for saving some battery juice or extra power.
many other (newer) phones/kernels support it.

if you know how overclockers clock their pc-s , then you should know about volt-mods/overvolting (vdimm, vdroop and etc.)

i think the only "undervolting" our phone can do is change the stock frecuency from 245 to 122 lower is unstable....up is 806 some people a little more or a little less...thast regarding the cpu frecuency in terms of Voltage i think is more than imposible due to inestability.
here is full overview of overvolting and so. : link
but shortly:
overvolting gives more voltage to hardware (cpu in this case) .
more voltage=more overclock , but also alot more heat.
undervolting decreases voltage of cpu, to save battery juice for longer time, but instability occurs @ same clock.
(need to lower cpu clock for more stability).
and also cpu is cooler.

[Q] screen turn off

please ...some one help me .....i using galaxy y n i have install the cod rom , n then my screen will automaticly turn off when my battery percentage have reach to 10...........
That happens to everyone? I haven't reached the 10% battery personally yet but my friend has and I've noticed the same (stock rom). Guess it's a powersave feature.

[Q] Effective CPU Settings for Battery Saving

Hello guys,
I just want to ask some cpu settings that will increase battery life,
Im contented in my tweaks , customizations but my problem only is the battery llife,,
hope you guys can help me
Thank you very much
Use battery saver pro. Adjust the battery saver meter acc. to ur wish, but remember that battery saving is directly proportional to lagging.
The higher the battery saver level, the more laggy the phone will be. Its ur choice...

Remember this will underclock your device. So dont try to run heavy games with these settings (they may lag). Alternately be an advanced user of Tasker, and you can save a lot of battery.

[DISCUSSION]Governors and Schelduers

Okay,so i made this thread so that development thread become less spammed with your questions.
Please, share your opinions here and ask questions, someone will answer you,and share your screenshots of battery life.
I personally use PegasusQ+VR,it gives great performance and good battery life.
My second choice would be Abyssplug+SIO,especcialy for the hotplug feature.
(In case you dont know what Hotplug is,its the feature that turns off the second core when your phone is not in use.)
I cant decide wich is better, tommorow ill test Hotplug+sio, and ill post screenshots of both tommorow.
Please,ask any questions here,dont spam Benz's threads.
Thank you

Hi, can you tell me the best combination of governors to use. I'm using latest cm
10.1 maclaw build with hotplug and noop, but i think CPU its not sleeping cause i loose about 5% battery in 2hours withought using my fone at all. Thanks
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda app-developers app ?
Hotplug governor is indeed a joke, at least in Maclaw's CM (not surprised). There is no way to set it up for low battery drain /and/ reasonably smooth functionality. Right now I am using Ondemand + CFQ while playing with the powersave bias and up threshold parameters. The only thing I wish I had from Maclaw/Benz's kernel is the vr/sio schedulers.
You have VR and sio schelduer in Benz's kernel, and Abyssplug governor with real hotpulg feature, when you dont use the phone cpu shuts down one core and the remaining core runs on 200Mhz and 1% usage.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I would gladly use that kernel if it didn't have the dirty flickering fix. And if it didn't require CM10.1 reboot edition.
Also, when I was on CM i ran a logcat with hotplug activated. The second core would often reactivate even if the phone wasn't doing anything, with the screen turned off, then soon turn off and after a few seconds repeat the process. Maybe this phone really needs the core.
What flicketing fix? I got no flickering on the latest Maclaws cm and benzs kernel..and it shuts down the core, you can see with system monitor when your screen is on..dunno for screen off,but i get like 1% drained for a hour with screen off
Sent from my GT-I8190 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The 63 fps refresh rate, which "fixes" the UI flickering.
And yes, I saw the second core turning off myself. However, I am not sure if it keeps being off enough time.
Well in maclaws rom i dont have flickering, but in olivers i had. I dont know,i got decent battery life. Not good as stock, but its ok

Based on what I read, my best guess would be Abyssplug. I'll run some tests and will post my results.

And what exactly is so wrong with 63 fps refresh rate? Will your screen fry because of it? No it won't because it can't. Will your phone explode while being used? No it won't because it can't. What's the issue here then? Tell me.

Have you considered the battery drain implications? The battery is weak enough as it is, a higher than normal refresh rate only wastes more GPU power thus more battery.
