The school of thought here is "thin but strong".
If you go tape, 2mm, is good. You can find a 3M brand 2mm double-sided tape for about $7 on Amazon. You can also find 2mm digitizer tape specifically for MT4G for an extra $2....but why use tape when...
Silicone, super glue, and a few other things have been used with success. Me? I'd go silicone, if you can find a small tube of Liquid Nails, even better (that stuff is awesome but I've only used it in a caulk gun for heavy duty use). Loctite is a brand that comes to mind as being reliable for silicone.
There's a few ways to go, it's up to you, just be sure you get something that can withstand temps and probably some moisture. Like I said, silicone is the way to go, it's used in bathrooms, kitchens..... I've done some work in construction and if it was up to me, that'd be my choice. The tape is what it had before, and the tape is also just as effective, so please don't feel like pressured.
As long as it's a quality product then the end product should be satisfactory.
On the subject of silicone, RTV is the best. If you can't find any clear RTV, see if you know someone who installs/services security systems. They use silicone a LOT, and usually RTV.

Aight will look into the silicone.. Its more readily available then finding the tape...
Just need a dab of silicone for it..
Now I've seen the tape used all around the digitizer. But is it needed or just around the top as I seen in another video. ?
What precausions do I need to take when using silicone?

RTV is actually really solid stuff, perfect for this type of application.
If you don't want to use it or can't find it, you need to make sure it can bond glass and it isn't conductive, waterproof and decent temperature resilience. Stuff like krazy glue isn't strong enough.
Loctite
Permatex
2 brands worth looking into.

Sounds good where did you get it from?
I know the main issue with magnets near computers is that they can wipe the disk, because hard drives use magnitism to store bits. Flash doesnt, and is non-volitile. so you wont be messing with any of the memory. Also, it messed with old tv's because magnets were how they aligned the image (i think).
The nexus uses neither of these. Also, it has built in functionality that USES the magnet, as well as a decent amount of EMI shielding.

I myself have a i-BLASON case came int he mail about 1 week after my nexus
works good yet I notice that the left side tends to "hug" the 7 a little to much so I have to push the case back so
I can get the touch to work on left edge. When i bought it there was a kick ass stylis in the picture just to get a
cheesy 3 for a buck stylis.
Bah it still works,
But the funny thing is I closed it up day and put it on my desk with out thinking. Later on I picket it up
and it felt heavier. I look and there was my screwdriver heads and a few other magnets stuck to it HA.
In the title : I dropped my n7 and the headphone "stem" broke off inside the jack. Is it possible for me to crack this thing open myself? Please help, I use my headphone jack everyday.

the headphone jack is angled at the back can u use anything sharp to get a wedge on the stuck plug? like try sliding a pin 1mm between the plug n jack then pivot to try n pry it out?

Just to re-itterate, the only way to get it out is obviously trying to pry it out.
As stated above try to wedge it with a pin.
If not, do what I did with my Wildfire S, crack it open (VERY SIMPLE WITH THE N7)!
Go from the back of the jack and push it up.

Go from the back of the jack? I don't understand what you mean.
Sent from my Nexus 7
Well with the back off, you can see the internals of the jack, I pushed from the bottom out. Basically the reverse of putting it in, you push down.
Wereas you need to take back off, flip the tab and push up.
I hope that makes sense
Just to add...
A pair of tweezers (if you happen to have a pair).. or a powerful magnet might draw it out.
Edit...
Just had a look inside my Nexus 7, and the socket is completely enclosed... so you won't be able to push out from the other side, as I think Wilks3y was alluding to...but with the back off , and my own headphones plugged in, I note that more of the jackplug is exposed... if you have some needle nosed pliers, you should, with care, be able to extract it.
The back of the Nexus 7 just unclips... I use my fingernails - start at the top (the camera end) and slowly work your way around.
After, restore the back in the reverse order... bottom first (near the charger port) - and make sure everything, on all sides, clips into place.
Rgrds,
Ged.
One set of precision screwdrivers, and an impressive amount of cursing..... Problem solved! Thanks for help everyone.

I asked same question:
https://plus.google.com/u/0/111286251302377428260/posts/ZK5h4fdNCZf
I'm currently using this case: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0096XAUSY/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1361417190&sr=8-1&pi=SL75. The phone slips right in & out without a case. I usually use it with this case: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00AHHDG4I/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1361417430&sr=8-1&pi=SL75. It is an exact fit with this case, but will still slip out pretty easily once you get the hang of it. If the case was not "grippy", it'd be no work at all. This arm band will not fit a bulky, protective case like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00B5SCCOI/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1361417869&sr=8-2&pi=SL75. As far as function, it's kinda hard to read the screen in daylight due to glare on the plastic screen cover. The back is neoprene and some people have complained that sweat from their arm dampens it, causing condensation inside, adding the risk of liquid damage, but I have not experienced this. Also, the top flap closes over the headphone jack, so I neatly snipped a piece of it off to make room for my headphone plug. Overall, I think it's a good quality arm band for the price.

I got this case: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007OUPXNS/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for my HTC One X and my Nexus 4 fits well in it using a TPU case. I was glad I didnt have to buy another.
I bought this mount for my old galaxy s4, , and it worked fine.
It is designed so that you put a piece of high carbon metal in between the phone and the case, then you place it on the magnet and it sticks. It is a truly awesome dock, but I have a question. My S4 would not stick to it without the metal plate in the case, this phone will stick right to it without a case or the metal piece. This worries me.
Has anyone used a similar dock to this one, or can somebody let me know if this will damage my phone? I would just use it, but I heard that the camera's image stabilization is magnetic or something? I am hoping that somebody can give me some info regarding this.
Anybody?

Definitely not putting any kind of magnet near my phone.
Lol there's a magnet in the Quickview case

I also found out that QI chargers, like my phone supports, also contain a fairly strong magnet to hold the phone in position. The reason my phone was sticking to the magnet dock is because the QI receptor on the back of the phone (inside the back plastic) is magnetic so it can stick to the QI charging base.
Based on my research and my own experience, I am going to assume that it is safe considering I know 3 people using the dock have not had issues and my SGS4 was fine after a few months. I guess I answered my own question. I guess I was just looking for somebody who has used the dock for a longer period of time.
Thanks
I was considering this exact car mount. Glad someone is testing it cuz i was scared about the same thing. Make sure to let us know how it is!

I use tetrax. Not sure if you have seen them. But I have been using them since my Iphone. And currently using it on my diztronic case.
However, you must place the magnet as closest to the buttons on the back side or your wireless charging wont work..
I recently purchased a similar mount that the OP posted, but with a suction mount. I haven't used it yet but will post back after using it.

Thanks arson. I don't use wireless charging, at least not yet. The dock I have has about a 1" by 2" super thin piece of metal to put in between the case and the phone. The dock technically stuck to the qi receptor, but I didn't want to do it that way. What I am trying to say is that my metal piece is going to definitely cover up some of the qi receptor, plus I'd rather thave the magnet farrtger away from my camera if possible

As long the magnet not near camera, it's fine.
I bought macro lens for smartphone and use magnet to stick on the camera. The result is, the OIS will be not working properly and the picture became blurry.
After that, I gave this lens to my little sister haha..

If the flap\cover on your case triggers the window widgets and wakes\suspends the phone then, yes, it does have a magnet in it.
Not sure how far back the practice goes, but my OG Droid used the same method to trigger Car Home when inserted into the car dock. I took the magnet out of the dock to prevent Car Home from launching.
Small high power neodymium magnets.

I have been using a Mountek (the guys who invented this) CD slot mount for three months or so, on Samsung Galaxy S3, Nexus 7 and LG G2.
No issues with magnets on any of the devices. You can wiki the topic.
Screen issues? No, we don't have CRT displays.
Storage? No, flash memory is not magnetic.
Compass? Maybe, hasn't affected me (Co-Pilot Standard, Google Navigation) YMMV
Location Services / GPS? No, GPS uses satellites.
Speakers? It has its own magnets.
Camera? If mechanical zoom, perhaps. Digital zoom, no.
While one can't believe everything on the internet, the consensus is overwhelming that magnets generally do no harm to modern smartphones. I'd be more worried about wireless charging, yet it's becoming mainstream.

You're right! I have located one small magnet
Now that I've used the iMagnet suction mount for a few days I can chime in. It didn't affect my GPS signal and it didn't affect my camera. I didn't purchase a QI charger for my Verizon G2 so I can't comment on its affect. But I do love the flexibility this mount provides since it doesn't use any gripping arms. I'm using an Incipio Dual Pro case with the round magnet between the inner and outer shell. It fits perfectly.
Sent from my VS980 4G using xda app-developers app
I have been using a QI charge rand the suction based mount like this.
Everything has been working flawless. No issues with GPS/DATA/ETC... everything still works.
No need to clip or adjust the holder for the mount. Its just put up and it works.
The only major downside? Well, two or three actually..
CONS:
1. The metal piece is small and thin. But it will still affect the way you use your case. Most cases are built to have nothing between case and phone. Even putting that slim metal piece makes it a little challenging to make just about any case sit flush. Including the Quick Window case, basic TPU case (which has worked the best), and my new incipio case.
2. Because of the metal, it usually affects NFC because it is right there. There might be a sweet spot to make it work with the metal there, but I usually have to take my phone out of the case or at least remove the metal. Main reason the cheap TPU cases work well. East on and off.
3. Pretty much the same as #2, but the metal also affects QI charging. Again, there might be a sweet spot, but I havent found it.
If you don't use NFC or use a QI charger and can deal with A LITTLE ill fitting on the case you own, then I think this is one of the best mounts out there.
I did not stick the metal I just have it loose in the case so I can remove it if necessary.
