Shame the XDA app forces closed on Xoom... does anyone have a workaround?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
this is a known issue and hopefully someone is working on it.
Tapatalk is basically the same app and works fine
i have the same and I paid for the app.......is anybody actively fixing this?
I have been using the XDA app since day 1. The only thing I have found I have to do is exit fully when done. I.e. I hit the back button till the app closes. If I leave it open for any significant time in the background it either gets stuck on the splash or whatever page I was on last. At that stage I force close and reopen it.

for some unknown reason the app works fine on the verizon xoom, but FCs for wifi-only; someone reported the same problem on the wifi-only transformer, so its got something to do with honeycomb without mobile data (some kind of id# or something?)

Wow. Really? So THAT'S why it crashes on tablets? I had always assumed it had something to do with the resolution being much higher than on a phone, but since you say the Verizon XOOM works, that blows that theory out of the water... I am going to see if my superiors have any idea why this is happening or if they can contact Tapatalk to fix the problem.
Fyi this problem does not exist on tapatalk.. has to do with something xda does differently
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
I have the Verizon xoom as well and I never had a force close. It does act weird sometimes, but it does on my nexus one as well.

Also goes along with what I've heard in the past... From what I've read, Tapatalk's standard client used to have this issue, but then it was fixed. Perhaps the XDA app can be rebased to the newer Tapatalk.
I have had no FC's on my WiFi only Canadian MZ604.
What I do have, though, is a weird scrolling issue on certain threads where the text will copy itself onto every pixel it crosses until I stop scrolling and the screen refreshes.
I did note that it seems to happen mostly with hyperlinked text. Another possibility is text that has had it's color changed. Will have to play around with it some more to confirm this.
i just use the browser now. Its no big deal with the bigger screen.
It would FC on my Nook Color as well, which is wifi only. I was hoping for a better experience once I got my Xoom wifi (I also got the paid app) but it behaves exactly the same: as soon as I log in it FCs.

This happens to me on both xda and tapatalk, I think its a combo of hyperlinks and long texts... weird thing is, it happens in quoted text too, but not in the post that quotes the text

I would agree with you, but vBulletin forums (like XDA) are unacceptably laggy in typing posts on the Xoom.
That, and it's good to have options.

What are your uschescheniya from Motorola Xoom Android 3.2?
Speed and so on?
I have a feeling that runs less smoothly than before the upgrade.
I get the opposite feeling. The keyboard pop and retraction iw super fast and smooth. Everything on the desktop and in app drawer is incredibly smooth now.
When I got 3.1 a lot of people said it improved so much but mine ran worse. I had horrible keyboard lag too, so I did a reset on the device and it worked just fine after. So that is a suggestion you could try.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
after few times of soft resets, it runs much more smoothly than 3.1. even home screen in portrait mode run smoothly now =) although sdcard is just readable, i dont mind it too much as i use the internel storage always.
anyway, i did notice that it eats more ram when i enable the auto screen rotation, and the benchmark decrease too - thats weird, cause the overall performance increase greatly
It seems to run a bit smoother for me, though it may be a placebo effect. Network throughput on wifi also seems to be improved with the same caveat.
Netflix stopped working which only bothers me because this would be the easiest way for me to test the qualitative nature of the wifi performance.
I have not had a chance to mess with the sdcard yet. I am interested in the implementation details.
I also have noticed an improvement in battery performance, and that apps load faster and that graphics across the board are far more improved and impressive. The app drawer is amazingly smooth now along with the desktop.

Netflix ain't working!? Well now that makes for even more reason not to update! SD card can't be read by apps, Netflix not working, I suppose it auto rents movies too! What kind of crap is this?

Yeah I think the app for otg mount needs to be rewritten. I am going to work on getting my hdd back when I get off work today. Not too big a loss right now, but it will be in the future. After all the rants I am still gonna get the wife a xoom. My typing lag is gone and still can access the USB flash cards, so that keeps me happy. I also understand this update has the 4g radio software. All we need now is the radio.

I just migrated a bunch of my movies to my SD card so I'm happy, always love more room.

I reinstalled Netflix and it is working again. In my case the video performance over wifi is noticeably improved.
Overall the more I use it, the more I am of the belief that 3.2 is a marked performance improvement. Not huge but things definitely seem to be running smoother.
So does OTG still work on 3.2 ?
OTG works for some things. Not my usb hdd any more.

OTG also works with external mice and keyboards but given you can't dock the Zoom and use the micro USB that's hardly useful.

Important question about Nexus 7 tablet UI?
I know there is a "mod" about density changes to make it look like a tablet but is it really like a tablet OS. I mean that does apps that are ment to tablets work on that like for example an app called Elisa viihde (it´s only for tablets).
I would like to buy nexus 7 but I want a "real tablet".
The Nexus 7 uses a new hybrid tablet UI, as you've probably noticed, the homescreen is larger and the notification bar does not take up the whole screen.
only 7" tablets are going to use this UI, and it's up to the app developers to tell the app to use the tablet UI or the phone UI.
For example, during the keynote, Google showed the Google+, Youtube, and Gmail apps.
Youtube loaded the phone version. Google+ and Gmail loaded the tablet version.
So most likely the developer has to add into his app to enable support for this new UI/Screen size to use the tablet UI. Otherwise it will probably default to the phone, and it's possible that tablet only apps won't work.
Maybe you'll get lucky and someone with an I/O version can test that app for you. Otherwise feel free to send me a message in a couple weeks when mine comes in and i'll test it for you.
If it doesn't work, you can always email the dev asking them to enable support for 7" JB and your device. And sometimes you can extract the APK and instal it and then it will work. People did that with Photoshop Touch and the NFL tablet app and got them to work on the galaxy nexus and galaxy note.
Okay thanks i'll see.
I have also thought about a transformer infinity...

I have not watched the keynote as of yet, but from all the reviews I have seen, the youtube app is all new and obviously not formatted for any smaller than an 7" screen

One thing to neok44 I just saw that you can't test that app unless you live in Finland and have that "account" which costs, but thanks anyways.

Has anyone compared the Nexus 7 to the Galaxy Tab 7.7? The Tab 7.7 is just about the perfect density for me.
I played with a Toshiba Excite 7.7 and they have the density too high for me. (Widgets are huge on the screen and there isn't much screen real estate.) That was one of the few things I didn't like about the device.

You could have asked this in my thread , but yes when you change the dpi it causes the nexus 7 to support all tablet apps even the one you said. Changing the dpi isn't changing the looks it changes how the Nexus 7 operates. Theres some con in this with a changed dpi, apps that run specifically for the phone may not run on the Nexus 7 in tablet ui. If the Nexus 7 is in its original 7inchphablet ui it runs both phones apps and tablet apps pretty smoothly. This can be fixed on the tablet ui just by editing the market to recognize the nexus 7 in the more compatible dpi. I'll see if i can do this after work.

As an app dev, I know that the play store asks about what screens o
It an app can work on. And will only be available in the market for those screens. If you properly change your tablet to tablet UI, the market will know it is a tablet and offer you tablet apps.

Ok im sorry for the seemingly obvious question, but am i to understand that because of this in my opinion crazy decision to make this phablet UI, if i want it to work in the tablet UI mode i have to take my new tablet and lower the screens density, the exact density that is one of the main points that attracted me to it, is there no way to enable the UI without lowering the quality? This is irking me so much because im not a developer, no where near so im actually having to study this and put a bit of thought into this whole deal and the number of changes i will have to make upon recieving this tablet just to make it what i feel like it should have been to begin with are getting to be numerous. Thanks guys sorry for the rant
Is anybody else getting a "Device Not Compatible" error with their Nexus 10? I kept getting a download error, then it began reporting that it wasn't compatible.
If so... Or if not... Does anybody know of a way to sideload it? I have purchased it legally and am looking for a legal way to do so- if there isn't, then don't worry about it.

It's laggy as hell on the nexus 10 so maybe that's why they made it incompatible. Anyways its so laggy you wouldn't even be able to Play it so I wouldn't bother trying to put it in it unless you get one of the older versions before the lag started

Its no longer reporting incompatible, gives this error when updating: "Update for "Asphalt 7: Heat" could not be downloaded due to an error. (Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-5:AEC-0])". Googling now, but I've tried these solutions already
EDIT: It simply... Started installing. Finally. Here's hoping the performance is fixed- no reason my old Acer a500 should outperform my N10. I half wish I hadn't sold that thing.

Very easy trick! Hope this works for all....
1) Keep your Wi-Fi on in your Phone
2) From (Pc/Mac) desktop browser go to https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftA7HM&hl=en (The main Asphalt 7 Google Play page, and make sure you Login on Pc with the Id you purchased it with)
3) Click Installed (Yes Installed, not Install as the game is already there and needs to be updated right?! )
4) Select the Device
5) Click Install and you will see the additional files being downloaded automatically on your Phone!!!
Enjoy and Press Thanks!! Cheers!!

Agreed and if we don't get it soon I'm about to give up hope on the OUYA team and will be looking at Cyanogenmod for the future--this necessarily precludes further spending in the OUYA store, as I'll be using the Google Play store instead... No sense in throwing my money away.
Thankfully there seems to be a Google Play version of the games I like, too bad I can't get a refund for the ones I already bought.
