LH9 kernel dump [818 Free RAM!] - Galaxy S III General

LH9 Jellybean kernel dumped from the latest leak.
The special feature it has is more ram available for user: 818 Mb.
It is for those who want to have more ram, but are fed up with LH9 issues.
So now you can flash previous leak and enjoy bigger memory.
Instructions:
While having any JB leak on your device, unpack the downloaded zip and flash the boot.ini (with mobile odin).

Enjoy

Working nicely on LH8, good idea, much appreciated.

Look in the dev section for custom roms. The 2 popular ones to start with would probably be Darky or Docs. There's install instructions inside of those threads...

Docs Rom is not longer "Docs Rom", not it's called Rom kitchen, haven't tried the latest versions, but last time I used was very stable and reliable.
You can also try Ramad's deodexed stock roms.
You will need Odin, cf-root if you haven't rooted, and the files for the custom rom you want, most custom roms are flashed through CWM, which you get once you are rooted.

[Q] stuck at gogogo by using any Dorimanx's kernel

hey,guys, i need help...
it's ok with the tytung's Kernel, but the hwa rom is based on Dorimanx's Kernel,i just cant use any Dorimanx’ Kernel or any rom with this kernel, i really dont know why...
anyone know what is the problem?
and thank u so much
I there,
I have the same problem. I think it has something to do with the hwa driver...somehow some hd2 must have hardware diferences between them.
All the other ics roms withou hwa works grate. Hope someone help us
Sent from my Nexus One using xda premium
i hope it is not wrong with my hd2,but the kernel is..
What rom are you using? Do you have any bad blocks? Any version works before ? More details will help like what version of the kernel you are using did you place your from init
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA
all other roms work great. I used before the AOKP 34 and tytung 1.6 ics rom without problems. Since the release of ics with hwa i cant boot. I tryed cm9 and aokp and both cant boot.
Sent from my Nexus One using xda premium
I do have the same problems with kernels higher than 5.7 . I just tried flashing kernel 6.5D but I'm again stuck at GO GO GO...
I use Dorimanx 3.1.6.2, working well with 5.7.
Luke the newer kernel got hwa so the libs changed so you need to wait till tytung updates his tom as for aokp or miui au ics or cm9 you need to put the init.gz in the custom folder and update hope it works

no problem always here to help ( a click on the thanks button will be highly appreciated)
first get your rom extract it
go to the kernel folder and extract the init.rd
download the dorminax kernel also extract it ( PS it has to be higher than 6.6c)
you should see a folder called initrd-Custom and paste the init.rd there and zip all the files use a zip manager ( i use 7-zip)
place the file on sd card and install it through recovery like usual
enjoy it should work

Great ROM for me now..
Was on Kingdroid 1.6, superb rom but had little microlags in scrolling settings other than that everything was silky smooth.
tnx for letting us know. was looking for fast sammy rom. i'll try it now
Yes, it's FAST but...
First of all let me say that I', delighted with these ROM (1.6 and 2.0), they are FAST (and I mean it!) and they have implemented TW UX which is awesome! but.... I don't know if it's just me, but I in both versions I've experienced this wakelock (or whatever is called), It was solved with the method of taking off the battery for 10 seconds and then restart, though. I was just a little sad because in the changelog they say they took off the script was causing this.... any way... I love this rom and YES, IT'S FAST, REALLY FAST!!
2 downsides.
1. Chineese crap shows up when you call
2. Only english keyboard is supported swedish wont work

Cute enough :>
Problems for me:
* With 250 DPI Google Chrome force closes.
* Always low free ram. And more you use the phone, less free ram (even after you clear memory, still low free ram)
I cant have full root on 2.0... how did you guys install it? (to have full root)

Just follow these steps:
Fool proof instruction from LPF (Ketan)
First get these to files on SD(cant post links, google pls):
CF-Root-SGN_ZS_OZS_LPF-v5.3 (get the .tar since Mobile Odin can not flash .zip)
AbyssNote kernel 4.2 Final RedPill Touch Original Logo (.zip vers.)
and the Kingdroid Rom
Download Mobile Odin(pro) and flash CF-Root-SGN_ZS_OZS_LPF-v5.3
Now Boot into recovery and flash AbyssNote kernel, still in CF-Root go to advance and reboot recovery (so now you are in abyss recovery)
In Abyss first Wipe Data/Factory after that wipe Cache and then wipe Dalvik
Now install from SD and chose Flash Kingdroid rom
Thank you sir. I will try that later today

My favorite Rom is the TiramiSlim Rom. Bevor i flash that Rom, i change my Roms again and again.
The Rom TiramiSlim is very smooth and fast and very stable.
When you want to flash a Rom, try out the TiramiSlim Rom.
you can try cm9..slim...but i personally would go
for aokp...

I flashed a new ROM for the first time a few weeks ago.
I chose ICS333: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1618757
I followed the step by step flashing guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1637966) and everything went smoothly. I find battery life quite acceptable, better than with Gingerbread.
I am using tiramislim too. It is by far the best i have used & the customizations on this are amazing.
Very impatiently waiting for the final version.
Yes tiremislin v2 is good... Try it..

I also tried a few roms, I'm now with TiramiSlim 2.0 and so far... pretty good...:good:
CM9 latest nightlies + Devil or Semaphore kernel :good:
CM9 rc2 + devil kernel..so far satisfied..

TiramiSlim 2.0 & Sempahore kernel, fast-stable-smooth :good: the best
If you haven't chosen anything yet, I'll throw CM10 alpha in the pot. Really great for a Jelly Bean alpha build, you can really feel the butter .
SlimICS for me, I went from stock to Darky 9->11 I think, then Gamerz rom from 8->11 too and now I am on Slim ICS 4.2 and I have to say that it's light and smooth. Battery got a slight boost with proper tweaking too.

I think that the tutorial on androidauthority quite nice, I followed that to update my phone to slim ics.
Instructions are clear. Just go there (I can't post link yet I think) and search i9000 with root you should have plenty of tutorials, take one that ask you to upgrade to XXJW or something like that, then, it explain how to root it and install CWM. Once done, you have a based that can be flashed to any rom.
Thank you for the information, I'll check out the link and let you have the feedback!

Stock Kernel

Can someone point me in the direction of a flashable stock kernel? I can't seem to find one, and i prefer running custom roms, but with the stock kernel.
If I cant find one, does someone mind building one for me from source? I would really appreciate it. If you could build it, and send me the zimage with the libs, I could do the rest.
Also, would packing the boot.img from the stock rom into a flashable zip work on CM, AOKP or other custom roms? I know they change some things that make the stock kernel and components unusable, just curios.
I started to set up a build machine, but my pc does NOT have the resources necessary. I have to run linux on a VM and I only have 2gb of ram. Naturally, that makes things crawl.
Thanks for the help.
Dude... Look on the stickies. Use the search function or Google. Don't be lazy. You are obviously not a complete idiot, so use the resources available to you. This device has been around for awhile so there is a stock kernel here in the forums.

No need to be sorry. Most of us are more than willing to help. But you gotta make an effort to help yourself. Sorry I came off as a d**k. Just how I am. You can ask almost anyone from the E4GT forums about me.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Yeah, unfortunately I wasn't clear in what I wanted, or I didn't ask correctly. But I did do a little more research after posting and found what I wanted. Although I had to make it myself, as I couldn't find anything like it.
Most kernels are packaged with the kernel and the ramdisk (boot.img). If you run an aosp Rom, you can use the stock boot.img. if you run a CM Rom, you can run a CM boot.img (modified ramdisk).
Now, I want to run the stock android kernel, on a CM Rom. I couldn't find ANYTHING that has that. They all have CM kernels, or variants of, but no stock, from source kernel. Any kernel reset zips include the stock libs and ramdisk which is incompatible with CM (bootloop).
To solve this, I unpacked the stock boot.img (zImage and ramdisk), put the zImage together with Koush AnyKernel, modified the updater-script for the N7 and boom, it worked.
The reason I can run the stock kernel on a CM Rom, is because I didn't mess with the ramdisk. So I can now run ANY Rom with my stock kernel, because I don't mess with the ramdisk.
Make sense? Sorry I wasn't clear before.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Makes perfect sense. Although, I believe that most custom kernels, including stock based ones can run almost any ROM including CM especially if you are using multirom . Once I get my N7 fixed tonight I will be able to dive into it and find out exactly what I am using because I have no problem with the 6 or 7 ROMs I have on my device.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Thank you.
You're right, I can run any custom kernel on any Rom, but I could never get a stock kernel zip, to not throw CM into a loop. And all kernel devs, who have kernel reset zips, use a disclaimer saying you can't use on CM based roms. I don't fully understand why
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I see. I don't get it either. Quite perplexing.
