hey,guys, i need help...
it's ok with the tytung's Kernel, but the hwa rom is based on Dorimanx's Kernel,i just cant use any Dorimanx’ Kernel or any rom with this kernel, i really dont know why...
anyone know what is the problem?
and thank u so much
I there,
I have the same problem. I think it has something to do with the hwa driver...somehow some hd2 must have hardware diferences between them.
All the other ics roms withou hwa works grate. Hope someone help us

i hope it is not wrong with my hd2,but the kernel is..
What rom are you using? Do you have any bad blocks? Any version works before ? More details will help like what version of the kernel you are using did you place your from init

all other roms work great. I used before the AOKP 34 and tytung 1.6 ics rom without problems. Since the release of ics with hwa i cant boot. I tryed cm9 and aokp and both cant boot.

I do have the same problems with kernels higher than 5.7 . I just tried flashing kernel 6.5D but I'm again stuck at GO GO GO...
I use Dorimanx 3.1.6.2, working well with 5.7.
Luke the newer kernel got hwa so the libs changed so you need to wait till tytung updates his tom as for aokp or miui au ics or cm9 you need to put the init.gz in the custom folder and update hope it works

no problem always here to help ( a click on the thanks button will be highly appreciated)
first get your rom extract it
go to the kernel folder and extract the init.rd
download the dorminax kernel also extract it ( PS it has to be higher than 6.6c)
you should see a folder called initrd-Custom and paste the init.rd there and zip all the files use a zip manager ( i use 7-zip)
place the file on sd card and install it through recovery like usual
enjoy it should work

Guys,
Due to the fact that I can't find the right way how to apply this I'm opening this thread. Personally I don't like to open threads but I think this could be usefull for other users.
So actually I'm facing the following problem.
I'm a big fan of this rom LeoRCMix S v.1.9
But there are still some things wich don't work properly like wifi/data switch and the glitches. A new kernel should fix this...
I don't know which kernel I will find out but.....
For example a kernel like this... TYTUNG_R14
I have to change the ... initrd.gz... how does this works and what are the actual steps to make? I flashed a lot of roms... but this is abracadabra for me
Is here someone who can help me out?
Thnx in advance grtz John

Yeah oke, that's not the point... flashing is daily bussines
But in the kernel threads they are warning that the initrd.gz.... is different and it wil not boot. So I have to change something with that initrd.gz...thing but I don't know what

Unzip the ROM you have then go to the boot folder. There will be a file called Initrd.gz. Copy it over and replace the initrd.gz of the Kernel you are trying to flash. By the way, I think that Tytung r14 is for CM7 and MIUI isn't it? Why not just use Marc1706's kernel for GB/Sense ROMs (stickied)?
Thans for your reply! This makes everything a more clear! I just suggested a kernel. Maybe the v6 kernel of sbryan could be a good one ;-)
I'll flash a few and test around.

Do you get a logcat? Have you tried having the initrd.gz a part of the kernel's zip? Or the kernel and the modules a part of the ROM (build a boot.img)?
The CM7 nightlies ate currently using rboot in magldr, which means no more zImage and initrd.gz, but a single boot.img... I had posted a long post in the ROM thread, check a few pages back...

You know which kernel it is only after installing the rom if the rom download page or developer doesn't provide information about the kernel. After you finish flashing the rom, go to settings>about rom or about phone, you will see the kernel version.
Hit thanks if I helped you.

You are absolutely right. His question is - how shall I know which kernel it is without installing the rom? That is why I told him that he won't know which kernel it is without installing the rom i.e. from the boot image and that he needs to install the rom to know which kernel it is.

i encountered your problem and found out my error :
-must be ROOT
-PARTITION SD CARD (optional)
-install ROM's via CWM
-download again the .zip rom
Questions :
1. Did u use CWM ?
You should PM the CONTRIBUTORS/THEMERS/ETC.. about your problem.

just flash via CWM

you need to be on an ext file system and use a cm compatible kernel
if your base rom is bieltv cm7 then you would need to use his kernel
there are plenty of guides out there that tell you how to port a rom
Delete the boot.img file no need for it..
If using Biel cm7 as base flash specific kernel
If using Percy cm7 flash CM#2 kernel.

like I said boot.img is the kernel
you dont want to flash another phones kernel on your phone so you just delete it or replace it with one from your phone buts its probably better to just delete it and leave the rom kernel free as unless you have permission and the kernel source you cant post it and most people like to choose what kernel they use
you can remove the line for boot.img from the updater script if you want to
when porting a rom you are just looking at the system folder and then if there is anything extra in the updater script you can look at that
