Do you get a logcat? Have you tried having the initrd.gz a part of the kernel's zip? Or the kernel and the modules a part of the ROM (build a boot.img)?
The CM7 nightlies ate currently using rboot in magldr, which means no more zImage and initrd.gz, but a single boot.img... I had posted a long post in the ROM thread, check a few pages back...

I think the thread with the MDJ Build and kernel was deleted for non compliance to XDA forum rules or something to that effect?

his kernel and roms were removed for non compliance with the GPL
for not sharing his source
any links to his rom or kernel are not allowed
hmm oke, understandable, can anyone explain to me then how i can rip a kernel from a build (rafdroid 2.3) and make it a zip file so i can install it through CWM?

i disagree. i tested lot of kernels.
rafpigna 1.9 don't use lot of battery.

Quarx 2.6.29 v0.3 or mmxtrem's boot 666

Which kernel is better and why?
I google, but can`t found diference of this two.
Quarx for V20B/MMXTREM's for V20C
patry95juve is correctt .
MMXTREM 666 kernel actually works for many 2.1 versions if not all. Tested on v20e, 20b, 20d, 20c I haven't tested on v20a but should work. This kernel is the #1 right now

I read that it is #1, but can not found why.
bouth have iptables, suport ext3/4, swap, good overclocker...
I'm wondering about this as well, actually. My gf's phone has a rooted stock v20a (if i remember correctly), and Quarx's 0.3.1 kernel installed, but if mmxtrem's 666 would work and would be a better alternative.. why not? I'd test it myself, but with exams and everything, I'm not sure when i'll be able to.
EDIT/NOTE: They mention something about a battery boost of like 20% with mmxtrem's kern, that's why I'm considering it.
Battery should be better with the Infernal Kernel. Also it supports init.d scripting (don't think Quarx does). Oh & it was compiled using LG's latest source (v20c).

I'm asking because I'd like to flash best kernel to EleganceSwift 5.0 (Eclair).
Or is EleganceSwift 5.0 already using mmxtrem's boot 666?
How can I deteced that?

in the settings install the rom and under android version theres somewhere the kernel
Just that easy. Was confused about all the versions and where to look it up.
So when I'm using boot 666 (which should support swap) with EleganceSwift 5.0 I'm able to enable swappiness? If yes, how can I do this?
Yes... after flashing kernel download script from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19814203 and copy it to etc/init.d folder, set permision and reboot.

I flashed MMXTREM boot 666 with init.d support, created swap partition via cwm and moved the swapon file into right direction.
But after restart swap seems not not work (terminal shows 0). Where could be the problem?
Edit: With Swapper 2 swap works, so I think the Rom should support it. But why not nativly?

have you made a swapfile on your sd card or used the partition when doing it with swapper 2 ?

Swapper 2 creates a swap file by itself.
For nativ support by swapon script I created a partition.

[Q] Dualboot CM9 + CM7 ?

Can I use CM9 as my main ROM and CM7 as virtual? If yes, then how can I create File Systems for that?

Just follow my guide, it works and has 20 000+ views:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1375156
P.S. instead of installing CM9 as the virtual rom, install CM7 on the "latest recovery". Same steps but the other way around.

[Q] stuck at gogogo by using any Dorimanx's kernel

hey,guys, i need help...
it's ok with the tytung's Kernel, but the hwa rom is based on Dorimanx's Kernel,i just cant use any Dorimanx’ Kernel or any rom with this kernel, i really dont know why...
anyone know what is the problem?
and thank u so much
I there,
I have the same problem. I think it has something to do with the hwa driver...somehow some hd2 must have hardware diferences between them.
All the other ics roms withou hwa works grate. Hope someone help us
Sent from my Nexus One using xda premium
i hope it is not wrong with my hd2,but the kernel is..
What rom are you using? Do you have any bad blocks? Any version works before ? More details will help like what version of the kernel you are using did you place your from init
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA
all other roms work great. I used before the AOKP 34 and tytung 1.6 ics rom without problems. Since the release of ics with hwa i cant boot. I tryed cm9 and aokp and both cant boot.

I do have the same problems with kernels higher than 5.7 . I just tried flashing kernel 6.5D but I'm again stuck at GO GO GO...
I use Dorimanx 3.1.6.2, working well with 5.7.
Luke the newer kernel got hwa so the libs changed so you need to wait till tytung updates his tom as for aokp or miui au ics or cm9 you need to put the init.gz in the custom folder and update hope it works

no problem always here to help ( a click on the thanks button will be highly appreciated)
first get your rom extract it
go to the kernel folder and extract the init.rd
download the dorminax kernel also extract it ( PS it has to be higher than 6.6c)
you should see a folder called initrd-Custom and paste the init.rd there and zip all the files use a zip manager ( i use 7-zip)
place the file on sd card and install it through recovery like usual
enjoy it should work

[FIX] "type password to decrypt storage" message on JB roms

This happens when you flash any Kernel that support JB or ROM from EXTERNAL SD CARD, so, if you're getting this message at boot, you'll need to re-flash it from INTERNAL SD.
I hope if this help.
I will apreciate any thanks. :good:
This is silly. I've tried flashing dream 2.6.6 from internal and from external. Both brings to decrypt screen when finishes boot.
The solution is to flash 2.6.5 back. Perhaps you flashed 2.6.5 so it was fixed, not 2.6.6

Useful! Went back to my nandroid after that error. Will reflash everything today. Its kind of funny that I can record video on a preview jb build but not on a full stable rr. 2.6.1. Still working on that.

this is just kernel related (v2.6.6)doesn.t matter you flash from external or internal.i tryed 2.6.5 , 2.6.6 , 2.6.7 , v2.6.7 has battery huge drain, v2.6.5 seems stable.
