Hey guys, I'm taking a long distance international flight with my Nexus 7 and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on back-up power, best battery saving kernel, set-up, etc. Thanks!
Hi,
I'll let you know how long it lasts...I'll flying on Wednesday about 11h...watching movies...with my GT 10.1 it was no problem. Otherwise buy an batterie pack and let it charge during you're using it. They're not so expensive and worth it..

Hi,
I would recommend a power pack for the trip. Depending what you're going to do... for sure with the screen on the battery drains like the hell and an intercontinental flight takes too long...

It could be for a number of reasons. For one, is 3g on a lot? Do you game? Read Twitter, Facebook or Google+? Live WP, ect. We need more details please.

I agree with kilometers4. Better battery stats & cpu spy work well. I also suggest you download a battery calibration app. When I updated to Jelly Bean on my S3, the battery life sucked. But once I calibrated for a few cycles, it's great now. Same for my Nexus 7.
try switching to official CM10.1. Im getting 9hrs screen on time with it

I'm gonna hafta concur with this guy. However, I was having the same problem.
I used my keyboard to type into the search bar "bad battery life",
I looked at some similar titled threads and decided to look through this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1783390&page=3&highlight=nexus+7+not+charging
I followed the directions.
I did profit.
Next time use the search bar, and don't get butthurt when someone teases you a little. It's called the internet get used to it. And your a senior member you should know that.
When my nexus was brand new, i also had a few battery issues. But got it fixed after fully discharging the device a few times. Make sure it charges to 100% inbetween.

If you are running 4.2 i would reccomend you switch back to 4.1
Inverro route
Try to disable NFC
It has to be a rogue app, I'm getting way over that on my stock n7 32gb, stock 4.2.1

I find it kinda strange you only getting 3 hours out of it. On my Nexus 7 I can get little over 24 hours on a full charge. That's with basic web surfing, xda app, twitter and few YouTube videos.
Course if I do something more demanding like playing games I get less runtime on the battery.

I flashed Francis kernal and Cm10.1. Right now battery is 43% with 2 hours on screen time. So I format it and restore my apps using titanium backup?

With every electronic gadget using Lithium-ion batteries nowadays, it doesn't really matter how/when you charge it.
Some would argue to make sure to allow a full discharge from a full charge from a battery calibration point of view, so the battery meter is more accurate. It wouldn't affect the health of the battery itself either way.
Things like memory effect doesn't apply to lithium-ion. How often you charge it and how much you charge it (full or partial charge etc.) doesn't affect it much either. The only 2 things that can potential kill a lithium-ion is high temperature and letting it discharge far too low to the point that it cannot be charged up again. Note that all electronic devices will power off way before it even reaches this threshold.

Read this in a different thread when i was unboxing my nexus 7, i let mine sit for a while on the charger before i turned it on, but it came charged already. So far i have not let my nexus drain to 0% and the battery life on it is great, it can go for a entire day.

I too just got one. May be came out of the box with 4.2. After I signed in I checked for an update manually, and it immediately upgraded to 4.2.1. I then rooted immediately! Battery has been impressive so far.

No luck for me i guess it shows that there is an update it downloads it and boot into recovery attempts to install but then an android robot laying down whit his chest open and a red triangle appears ?

Sounds like it may be a corrupt download. Unless you plan to remain on the stock ROM just unlock/root it and then install what ever ROM you like.

Some app or service is draining your battery. Get BetterBatteryStats to narrow it down.

Like someone said before it's a rogue app and the only way your going to get the battery drain issue to go away is to figure out which app is doing it and then get rid of it.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
I think the best solution for you is to factory reset or re-install android on your device once.
It will be easier than finding out where is the problem. as screen snap shows most of the battery is drained by "android OS".
It was just my opinion you can take it if you want.
My battery usage. Even though my screen on time was only about 2 hrs most of the battery was drained by the screen. So there music be something very wrong in your case.
I don't know about android virus but that might be an option.

Gonna follow along and disable my daydream as well since I'm having the same problem you are with it actually draining while on the charger (Stock ROM, Franco Kernel, OEM wall wart with gold tipped USB cable). Tis quite annoying to have to either keep the screen off or power down completely in order for this bad boy to charge...
Can anyone post a screenshot on battery life with screen on ? I jus want to know how many hours screen on do u get on your nexus 4.. Right now, I'm using Galaxy nexus which has 3hour screen on time. I jus want to upgrade.! I don't care if the damn battery is too bad in nexus. But I prefer only nexus.. jus curious to know

This depends on many factors. But I get 4 hours with 3g all day, or 6 with wifi. But people say my phone is crippled so whatever

OP as pointed out there is a thread in place >>>Here. Thanks
Hi all.
I have recently bought (about a month ago) a Nexus 7 32 gb WiFi model. After putting it down with a slight bump on the top right quarter of the back cover it just went off. When I put it back on the battery indicator was on 0% but it was on 80% when I put it down. Scoured the Internet, but couldn't find any one with the same problem. Warranty is still valid. Any one with the same problem and if so, do you think It will be covered by Asus? Any answer would be appreciated, thanks.

To me it sounds like a loose battery connection or broken component. RMA it. Yeah it sucks but it shouldn't be doing that.
