Some S-Notes Syncing Tips - Galaxy Note 10.1 General

For those of you experiencing some consternation regarding syncing your S-Notes with Evernote or Google Docs, here is some insight.
If you have attempted to do this, you will see that the .snb file which is your S-Notes file will appear in Evernote and Google Docs as an attachment. You cannot view the contents of this attachment nor can you launch your S-Notes app from Evernote or Google Docs to view the attachment.
So, you may ask yourself, what's the point?
Well, the point is that although neither of these apps can read an S-Note file, they both do provide a garage of sorts in which to park them. By syncing with your Evernote or Google Docs account, any device which has S-Note on it will be able to load all of the notes from your other device. You cannot open them directly from within Evernote or Google Docs but syncing them does make them show up.
So, to summarize. Yes, syncing your S-Notes is helpful in that it provides you common area in which to store your notes which devices using S-Notes can access through syncing.
Hope that was helpful.
P.S., From what I can tell, if you delete a note on your SGN10.1 and perform a syncing operation, the deleted note is NOT also deleted from Evernote or Google Docs. This means that if you delete notes then perform a Syncing operation, your deleted notes will re-appear if they have been synced previously. Swell, right?
To test this. Create a new note, sync it then delete the note. If you then sync again the note you have deleted re-appears.
The only way to permanently delete notes is to go to Evernote or Google Docs and delete them manually.
If I am wrong about this, someone please let me know. I don't claim to be an expert, simply passing along my observations.

If you do want your notes to appear in Evernote / Google Docs where you can actually see them, you can share individual notes as .pdf files with Evernote / Google Docs. However, any other device syncing with Evernote / Google Docs will only load the .snb files into their S-Notes program. So, if you want to share notes through syncing, you must sync the .snb file also. This can be done by either syncing or directly sharing.

Evernote is a MESS.
The more I look at the Android Evernote app the more I realize it is NOT ready for primetime. How the heck does something like this get released to the public?
Problems:
1) There is no option to choose which client controls the content. For instance, should the contributing client control the content and delete any notes from Evernote which no longer exist on it, or should Evernote control the content and even if the contributing client has deleted files, return those to the client? The second method is how Evernote does it. The PROBLEM with this is deleting notes from S-Notes is pointless since Evernote will just return them when you sync your account. There should be an option in Evernote that says, if the contributing client no longer has a file, delete it here as well or, keep the file here but do not sync that file back to the contributing client. Major fail here.
2) There is no way to delete folders from the Android Evernote app. You can only delete individual files which can take quite a while. Again, huge fail.
3) In the Evernote viewing panel, the thumbnails at the bottom will show the user the contents of a .pdf file; however, the viewing screen itself is blank. The only way you can view the note is to open the attached .pdf in a pdf viewer. Why the heck would they have the viewing pain if it does NOTHING? If the ca show the file contents in the thumbnail, why not the viewing pain? Mind blowing fail.

Ok, the heck with Evernote and Google Docs.

Update on S-notes to Evernote
Bumping this old thread. OK, the latest update to JB now allows converting the S-note with four options prior to sharing with evernote. Now you it will be sent as a jpg, pdf, snb (s note file), or text only. If I choose the pdf option to share with evernot it is sent as an attachment. If sent as text only it will appear in the body of the evernote as written text. This helps stream line the evernote integration, but not a real sync as with in S-notes.

I'm new to this forum, what is JB? I'm on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition and I'm trying to figure out how to view my s notes that are synced with evernote on my windows 7 computer. They are automatically synced in the s note format and I can't find a program that will let me view the s notes, other than the fuzzy preview evernote gives. If I could tell it to sync as a pdf that would be incredibly helpful.

PWI Problems

ok so im out on site and i scribble down a note on "note" on my HD, i then email it to the office, they cant open it!!
active sync is not installed on this desktop, and i do not sync with this PC, all my notes will be emailed thru to them.
Is there a way for them to open them and view them as an image??
no one!
Why dont you get a screen capture program for your phone and then email the notes as Jpeg images? They cant view the notes on the other end because the file format is different.

quick way to view email (office) attachment?

searched and didn't get any results. my friend owns this phone so I have no idea how to work it through.
basically she is asking how she could directly open email attachments (mostly office documents and pdf files), I find it only offers option to save to sd and then open it with documents to go or pdf viewer, etc.. I don't understand why there is no pre-installed document viewer? but hopefully you guys can prove me wrong or some better solutions.

Fascinate stock email app & attachments

I have found that using the stock email app doesn't allow you to "open" or attach PDF files to emails.
I have three email accounts connected to the stock email app, Exchange, Gmail and Hotmail.
1) If I send an Excel or Word document to any of these accounts I get the option to "save" or "open" the attachment. However, if I send a PDF document to any of these accounts the only option is to the "save" the file. Then I have to go find it using a file manager before I can open it. I have tried Adobe PDF viewer & Thinkfree that comes on the device and neither will allow me to open PDFs in the email app.
2) The stock email application will not allow me to attach any files other than pictures. When I click attach it brings up the file manager (it appears to be the stock "my files" application) which allows me to view the SD card and won't show any other file types other than picture types. I have multiple PDFs on the SD card in various folders and NONE of them show up as being able to be attached to the email.
The weird part is that if I use the "Gmail" email application (the one that only allows gmail accounts) I can open PDFs straight from the Gmail application without saving first. I can also attach any file type using this application.
Does the stock email application suck this bad? My two co-workers with Dincs have no problem doing either of the above things.
I tried Touchdown, Maildroid & K9. They all attach all file types & open files directly from the email.
Does anyone elses mail app exhibit the same behavior as mine? Or did mine get messed up somehow.
The issue actually appears to be related to what program the email app will allow you to use to find attachments.
The stock mail program appears to use My Files, but it only allows you to see picture files. The Gmail program will only use "Gallery" to find attach files if you don't have a file explorer installed.
I have Astro installed and if you use the Gmail program and try to attach something it will ask you if you want to use Astro or the Gallery. I then went and uninstalled Astro and went back to attach a file through the Gmail App and it only allowed me to use the Gallery app to look for attachments.
So the problem actually DOES exist in the Gmail app, but the Gmail app will let you use other file explorers to look for attachments.
I just cant see how that got past whatever process they use in developing their app.... How can you design a mail app that doesn't allow you to attach anything but picture files.... I mean thats just ridiculous.
I would not recommend the Fascinate to be honest just because of this issue. Sure it can be worked around using other email apps and downloading file explorers. Its not that big of a deal if you only use Gmail, but if you heavily use exchange and have to rely on the mail app or a 3rd party mail app it sucks.
I ran into this just last night actually when I tried to open a pdf from an email.
So I emailed samsung to ask if this was intentional or not. They didn't give me a real good answer but here is what they said.
"Thank you for your inquiry. With the SCH-I500 mobile phone, you can only attach picture file types. If you would like to attach other files such as PDF files, you need to download an application through the android market for PDF application."
To me, that sounds like this was intentional and the stock mail app will never have the ability to attach anything other than pictures.

Out of curiosity, with all the great email apps that you mentioned having tried, why not just use one that does what you need it to do? That's one of the great things about Android: the stock apps are just there to get you started!
Maybe this is a bug due to the DB issues, but whenever I click "Read first unread" for this thread, it takes me here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8315757#post8315757

S Memo changes with new firmware

I thought I would start a thread about new changes to s memo with the latest firmware that came out ota today:
export to pdf (it exports to sd card only as far as I can tell so far)
sync with evernote-----it sets up a s memo notebook in your evernote and recognizes folders in s memo as subfolders (it did not do one of my folders though). ALSO---two way sync!!! The sync with htc flyer to evernote is one way. This is two. I synced all to evernote and then deleted a note in evernote. When I synced all again in s memo--that memo was deleted.
I am very excited about these changes and hope you all can help find more. I am also more optimistic that s memo might continue to improve. The ability to jot notes for reminders, to dos etc was my main reason for getting the note.
I might have been mistaken on the two way sync with evernote--getting different results as I experiment.
It seems like deletes do not sync in either direction but that additions or changes do sync?????
Also, does the S Memo allow to note only upto one page ?
No scrolling / multi page notes ?
Or does the update fix that ?

Evernote integration

I've been searching for detailed information about Evernote integration but so far I did not find anything useful.
Can someone explain how does the Evernote integration in new Note 3 works?
I am looking especially for answers to the following questions.
- are action notes synchronized to evernote?
- can I sync scrapbook notes to Evernote?
- can I choose which s-note notebooks sync to Evernote?
- can I choose the destination notebook in Evernote?
- what about tags? are they synchronized?

Action notes and Srapbook doesnt seem to sync with Evernote.
However Evernote has been Integrated quite well into S-note.
Actually, I think s-note is much easier and faster to use than the original Evernote app.
