Changing Boot animation? - Continuum General

How would I go about changing my boot animation? I have tried with rom tool box but it doesnt work and I cant seem to find the file in a root explorer.

flash imnuts custom kernel in dev section. Then romtoolbox should work
Sent from my SPH-M580BST using Tapatalk 2

This still didn't work for me. I flashed I400_CWM. Rebooted. Opened ROM Toolbox and selected a new Boot Animation. Rebooted. Same old boring stock boot animation came up.

Are the bootzips in the right folder?
Clear cache/dalvik...

Also did not work!
This also did not work for me I still have the stock boot animation and i have that kernal installed.

Build = SCH-I400.EC09
ROM = The one and only Ciscogee's EC09 Deodexed
I cleared cache, rebooted, used ROM Toolbox to install Animation, rebooted, and still stock animation. Do I need to manually move the files to another folder?

As I remember I used one of these kernels.

Everything I had heard was that the animation could not be changed now on EC09. I tried copying the new bootanimation.zip to \data\local, replacing the exiting one, but that didn't work. Still looking.

Ok, think I have it figured out. The bootanimation.zip in /system/media was removed with EC09. It was replaced by two files, bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg. These files are what need to be replaced.
I found a page with a few replacements Here

There is a manual fix in continuum forum somewhere. That's how I did it before imnuts hack. As for ec09 my bootani is cm9 so I do believe I did the manual work around

Ps. Just checked my i400. Bootanimation.zip as well as bootsamsungloop.qmg and bootsamsung.qmg

Jagger,
The ec09 kernel you are on hasn't been hacked for boot animations. Imnuts never got around to it. The EC07 kernel ciscogee posted has, but you'd be back to the 'appy sdcard:update.zip" method of getting into cwm. So, it's going to be a matter of which one you want more. The fix you referenced should work for you, though.
I would, however, extract the bootani.qmg and samsungbootloop.qmg and place them manually, as opposed to flashing the zip, though. Or, at the very least, make a nandroid before flashing (which you should be doing, anyway).

So

So this means if I want the cyborg boot animation I have to replace the two files with it? And yes I have always been making a nandroid backup when flashing new files.

[AnyKernel][MOD] Tbolt Kernel Updater

Ihtfp69 tip toes in and closes the door
I realized after releasing a ROM that no one was using Koush's AnyKernel method for flashing kernels. This poses a problem for ROMs with custom ramdisks. Someone mentioned the AnyKernel method did not work on this phone. So I did some investigating. With a few changes to the script, I have it working perfectly.
Credits here, of course, go to Koush. I just modified his script. The kernel zip attached here contains the kernel from the latest leak. Because this uses the AnyKernel method, you can flash this on ANY GB Sense ROM and it will work and not break WiFi.
EDIT: I guess Ziggy did a version as well a few months ago. Here is a link to his: Ziggy's AnyKernel MOD

Hmmm ... it shouldn't matter, but I will wake a look and see if I can duplicate it. Make sure the file you downloaded is around 3.4 MB. If not, grab it again.

oh, yeah, forgot to mention that I copied the 2 files (bcm4329* and sequans*) from the target ROM into /system/lib/modules After I had flashed. Should I have copied it to the .zip first and then flashed it? does it sit anywhere other than /system/lib/modules?
The reason i didnt do it is because I assumed the existing files should work.

The bcm spits out at the end of compiling the kernel and it is specific to the kernel. Pull the zimage and the modules from the ROM, put them in the correct folders in the zip ... Wipe Cache and Dalvik for kicks and flash. Should be fine.

Nothing special, and this will be the only one I do.
I flashed it and it installs and runs fine, no problems so far.
Deodexed, zipaligned, rooted

It has
The new Boog KJ1 kernel 1, no init.d. Thanks Boog!!! You're a machine.
extended Power menu

crt animation
some color
translucent status bar pulldown
tethering
thats it...
Make sure you are on gingerbread boot loaders and have Boogs KJ1 Kernel tar installed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1294849

Hmmm, I added superuser.apk, maybe I will use a newer version, let me try it and I will post a fix in the first post soon.
For some reason the su binary isn't installing, I have to go get ready for work so I won't be able to mess with it until tonight.
I will have to remove the rooted part in the first post.
EDIT:Fixed, forgot to add busybox and su to system\xbin. I thought I did that, but obviously I didn't, all good now...
I also got the errors about my phone being rooted. When i went to update the superuser binary with the superuser app, it gave me a failure... I think the issue is with the binary. Flashed the fuguroot kernel, then re-flashed the boog kernel and all was well. Love the ROM, by the way. Especially the battery icon, and changing colors

[ROM][Beta] Everybody Rom

The idea behind this is that you download the rom and add tweaks to it and if its better than what I already have, that will replace the what's already up but remember it has to be based off of the orig. Once you have installed your tweaks/theme post a download link and sceenshots. I would like to have two different roms, one is ics based the other one is sense based.
[Edit] when you edit make sure you do not include miktweaks as i dont have permission to use that,if you do have miktweaks in there your rom will not be considered
Rom's current status:won't boot up past plash screen

Nice to see this posted here. Alright so now with basic troubleshooting. I'm not very great at this as I'm a themer but maybe a dev will step in and help out too.
First off I need to ask how you "Created" this ROM. What apks did you copy from where. what apks did you modify, how you modified them because we don't have much to go on. And also If you could upload your ROM to media fire or dev host or something and post PUBLICLY because the PM thing will end in failure.
Let's try to get this ball rolling

TWICS

Captivate currently had TWICS. Its base code from cm9 with TW launcher and Samsung gs3 add on with devil kernel. Running this o my cappy. Super fast and stable. Just an outstanding rom.
Can someone port this to vibrant please!
What are you looking at shortbus......
*NOT SURE/CONFIRMED
But since it is in the line of the original galaxy s, I think you can just flash it, and then change modem/kernel/key layout, which is done by a script (forgot what its called in our development section)
ok, i found it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1623840
Using that, you SHOULD be able to flash any Galaxy S ROM (except the 4G)
If it doesn't work, nothing will go wrong, most likely you will
1) boot loop
2) key layout will be mixed up(easy fix)
3) no connection (change modem/kernel)
*you said this was TWICS, make sure it is ICS and not just themed to look like TWICS.
Link to rom please?

OK so I tried it from the captivate before I saw this post. Installed rom and before it gave install complete it auto rebooted. The rom was on my phone but up was down left was right ie screen was in landscape then when I turn it sideways it would go to normal view. Try to flash the Subzero kernel from here: (use build 80 not 128) http://rootzwiki.com/topic/22833-kernelics15-june-subzero-v14-build-128-brain-dead-and-loving-it/
If you already tried it from Subzero kernel; try the Glitch kernel, its on these dev sections.
Flash either of those to the ROM you currently have, and then try to flash it.
EDIT----------------
"if you are getting status 7 or getprop error then a little work from your side is needed
extract the rom to a folder then go to /extracted folder/META - INF/com/Google/Android from there open updater-script and remove all getprop lines
come back to META - INF folder and delete all three files
zip the file and flash it in recovery
NOTE:- to edit updater script use jota text editor(android), notepad (windows)"
It's in the patch's thread.
Do that.
I followed the thread exactly used jota changed everything and tried again. It just aborts install. I haven't given up. Gonna try again tomorrow. It beat me tonight but not for good! Thanks for everything x.

firstly I want to tell you that because of not having a vibrant to test the patch is in beta
what you can do is open updater script with jota text editor and remove all those getprop lines from the script and as a security step what you can do is press menu button then tap on file and tap on line break then select (lf for android/Linux) save the file go to meta-inf folder and remove all those cert files
zip the package again and flash no need to sign it again for further help you can ask me also in the patch thread

Thanks for input. I first tried it using a captivate port and it would install then I would run patch and it wouldn't boot past vibrant screen. Then I got the original galaxy s rom that the cappy rom was ported from. It gave the error so I proceeded to change the file as per op instructions. It would abort install with but no error status. I did it twice to make sure. If I changed all the get prop from i9000 to t959 would it work?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
you should not replace them instead just remove them
after flashing if it gives error then reboot device and with any root explorer app go to /cache/recovery and upload both the files I will see what the error is and then I can troubleshoot better
So guys I'm the twics porter to the cappy twics will soon be called remics I've been a part of a team that took over twics and I will soon be releasing to captivate

Do you think it'd be possible for you to release a version for Vibrant as well? Since not much will have to be changed from Captivate.
Just modem/kernel, and possibly build.prop

and what about uploading the error log from /cache/recovery
I took the twics add on from mr.mad for gs1 running cm9/slim and flashed on my vibrant running gummy 1.2.6 and it got stuck on boot . I reflashed gummy without wiping and now have all the apps from add on except for tw launcher. I guess that's a happy medium until we can get a port.

Just go to that file, copy it and paste it into your SD or something, and then upload it from there.
Because I have flashed a new rom and kernel the recovery log doesn't have the abort/error info...

Err_Connection_Refused after Bad Santa Root (LG-LS997)

I'm having issues with my browser giving me the error "ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED" on some sites. Tumblr in particular. I have tried to change DNS on my phone with no luck and tried to use a VPN with same results. I noticed this with the Tumblr app when I tried to login that it would give me an error saying I'm not connected to a network. Other sites seem fine like Google, Facebook, etc.. but with Tumblr, and more (dare I say) adult sites are giving me this error. Not sure how i would go about fixing this and everywhere I have looked so far has giving me no solution to this. Is this a result from rooting, or am I just oblivious to the solution. Anything the would help would be appreciated.
Are you using the custom rom or trying to use your stock one? The stock one is broken(for now)
If you are using the custom rom try formatting your data and see if that fixes it. Dirtysanta methods need to be done from a clean install only.

I followed the tut. from the dirty santa thread and used the LS997-deODEXd-signed as it was stated to be used on my sprint lg v20. Im still new to android device rooting and all so im not sure if it was a custom rom or stock one i used. I formated the data on my phone when doing this process byt ill do it again when im able to get to my pc.
