Do you have the appropriate drivers installed on your pc for rsd? You have to be able to flash an sbf, a failed Cm update flash won't brick your Defy, it's much harder to brick it...

lexer98: Yes I tried it... It is same.
bone101: I can not enter to any recovery.
sa3e1: Yes, I have all drivers.
I try the other.
Turn off defy, then hold power and vol+ button for 5-10 sec, when you release the buttons, your phone will power up in Stock bootloader. Does it work until this point?

When I do that, on screen show: Battery Low - Cannot program.
But all is OK because I bought universal charger and now I'm charing battery..:cyclops:
Next I flash correct SBF file via RSD Lite. Is it ok?
And the phone isn't charging when it's off?? I hope it will be ok after charging battery with external charger! Then go to stock bootloader and flash a stock sbf, or if you want to go straight to CM10 try Easy Recovery sbf:

My Defy is working now....
Thanks for your help.
I did it as follows: I chared my battery with universal charger. Then I went to stock bootloader (power+volume up) and conected my phone to PC. After it I flash two SBF files* via RSD Lite. Then I went to recovery and wiped all. Now my phone working well....
* first: Froyo_CEE_2.2.2.zip
second: CM7RC1.5_16_09_11_custom.sbf
(I will upload this files to some File Hosting and I'll post here links)

Only 1 is enough
Also AICS that is older version of CM7…
Flash froyo and root it...
Install 2ndInit and using cwm install CM10

I tried to flash a custom rom to a defy, but after flashing i got a bootloop.. After that i have tried everything to get a normal working installation but everything failed.
Now i am stuck with a phone that does not want to boot and even cannot get into the bootloader... So i cannot flash using RSD Lite.
Is there another way to unbrick this phone? Or is it end of story?

1) Remove battery
2) Plug phone to PC
3) launch rsdlite (make sure rsdlite driver's is already working properly)
4) Press power and vol+ , and insert battery.
5) Defy screen might still blank but rsdlite would show status connected.
6) flash back your default sbf
7) boot into stock recovery and do factory reset.
8) reboot.
Note: if your defy is in full flash over gingerbread sbf, you're in trouble. Flash again any gingerbread sbf might help for quick resurrection. If your defy is in froyo, try flashing only froyo, otherwise if you're desperate, gingerbread sbf would help. You're warned for no possibility of downgrade.
Note 2: Battery must at least 80% and above to safely flashing and recovering process.

Your battery is fully loaded?
What happens when you plug in the loader (powercord with adapter in AC plug) when phone is off, is there a battery loading icon appearing?

If there is no white led or anything im afraind you have to send it for repair.
In the Netherlands i have a very good experience with:
http://www.gsmrepareren.nl/eindgebruiker/
Last thing you can try is to turn the phone on with vol down but i think you have allready tried that.

I have the same problem. I come from 2ndinit cm10 and wanted to revert back to cm7.2 but my defy failed to boot. After that I flashed FIXED.French.3.4.2-164.RETAIL.sbf
I hoped that might flash the kernel (home, back buttons were dark due to cm10). I got the red M back and a bootloop.
So I tried some sbf's I had on my hdd. Now the battery is at 3,3v and rsd lite doesn't get the phone. When I apply 5v (like the McGyver hack) the voltage drops to about 4v because the battery is being charged (dangerously I know).
Anyway rsd lite sees my defy again, I am able to flash. But when it should reboot, rsd sais PASS and the screen stays dark.
Connecting usb causes the charging led go on.
How can I bring the device back to life?
Thanks
Dennis

I had this problem, try different sbf's. The first 2-3 that I tried which gave me a blank screen were too old (from 2010) and the last one was from 2011 which was successful. Try with sbf from 2011.
Do you still know what sbf's you have tried and which one did it's job?
Thank's for your answer though!

there is some kind special fixed SBF on the link
[GUIDE] All-in-One Defy Beginner's guide
Method 2: (BIG thanks to Jebrew again for this one)
NOTE: You are going to need CM7 for this one. CM7 Stable version recommended.
Download this SBF and Flash it.
Root your phone.
Download 2nd Init 1.4.2 and Install ClockworkMod Recovery.
Reboot to CMW recovery, and wipe Data/Cache.
Install CM7 then install Google Apps.
Reboot an go into Stock Recovery (using the vol- button, not from Bootmenu).
Do a Data/Cache Wipe or you won't have any space when you're done.
Flash this Fixed SBF
Reboot into your nice new rom.
Do not Wipe Data anymore or you will have to start again.
You WONT be able to install full SBFs of any Éclair or Froyo since these Androids have lower CG Versions.

and puts me in RDSLite "Finished" and "PASS"
Defy but does nothing ... and when I press the power button is switched off, give it back, turn again as "Bootloader" with the following error

Which stock ROM were you on? If you flash the same ROM again, you should not have this problem. This happens mostly if you flash a ROM with lower BL than the current one on your phone.

The first SBF i put, there rom_froyo.sbf (original from motorola i think)
before i try to upgrade to CM10-20120904 i have kernel 2.3.4 and i think that the same "rom_froyo.sbf", because i made only one time Flash with RDSLite...
from first and unique flash with RDSLite, only i made update from recovery mode - install zip from sd
only put cm7, cm9 and cm10, then the Gapps... and the last time when upgrade to cm10 i made, install cm10.zip, install kernel 2.3.4, and install gapps...
Any idea about the firmware version?

As you flashed ME722BL6.sbf, you are now on BL6 and I assume that's a Defy+ ROM, so no downgrade to Froyo. Try flashing the ME722BL6.sbf file again and don't flash froyo ROM on top of it. If it gets stuck on M logo, go to recovery and do a factory reset.
If you have a greenlens defy, you can no longer use the camera.

What defy you have: red, green or plus? You cant install lower rom than 188. If you have plus - you'll have all things working, red - battery can make work with batt fixes, green - camera will never work on BL7, only on CM10,CM9.1 or other roms with custom kernel. You're stuck on BL7 so try flash 231 sbf. Read this post, you'll find more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12419400&postcount=3

Hi Frnd,
How you solve this problem, I have the same problem...
Plz, help me.... in Advnc Thanx......
Attempting to update a US-Tmobile Defy (green lens) with CM7 to CM10
1. As a 1st step wanted to do a full Nandroid - but the backup repeatedly failed.
2. Next, installed RSD lite to unroot, revert to stock, 1st tried with "JORDN_U3_6.36.0_SIGNED_USAJRDNTMOB1B4B5DE1028.0R_JORDANTMO_P022_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf.gz"
After completion, the Defy was stuck in a boot loop
3. Finally, used RSD lite attempting to unroot & revert to stock using, "T-Mobile_MB525_6.19.0_1FF.zip"
After completion, the phone would not boot nor go into bootloader.
The battery was very low and I suspect that it may be the reason I cannot start the bootloader. The phone, in its current state does not seem to charge the battery.
Please help!
Doug

Do you get something like :
'battery ok in bootloader' ?
EDIT:
I see you are not able to see boorloader at all.
one thing you can do is :
connect the phone to your system
start rsd lite
take out the battery
insert it again
and immediately press power and volume up.
you may not see the bootloader on the screen but your device may show up on rsd lite.then you can flash your sbf.

You must charge your battery. The possible ways are:
1. with friend's defy or external charger
2. McGyver way - find in threads, but use with caution
Hello and happy holidays!
I have recently bought a Defy+ and i wanted to root after about 2 weeks of use mostly for removing some bloadware and killing ads and more thingies...
As you can guess from this thread title i freaking bricked it...
So let me tell you what i have done until now.
A)I followed this one
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/82806
so i can flash it because no program like SuperOneClick was working.
My baseband was somewhere in the mid of these 2 (something like 60 i can't recall anymore)
According to some posts there even another one with my baseband could follow the second procedure
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1595013 ) and end up with a rooted defy+.
I flashed it and was the screen stayed black... Well at the time i could thing that this was bad... I flashed the other 2 and i was waiting in vain...
B) after this complete failure came the funny part... I DONT REMEMBER anything about my stock sbf  ... Seriously it didnt cross my mind to write it down.
So i started trying to flash it with the Unbrick your Defy+ guides.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1828639
Tried the site http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_jordanplus/list.php
i even tried this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1820282 in case it had a good effect. Well it hadnt
Until now i am still in the company of a lovely black screen...
MY CONDITION NOW :
RSD 5.6 at first before B step went to 5.9.
1) Insert battery = black screen
2)Power button = black screen
3)Power button pressed with VOL + or - , insert battery = black screen!
4)My pc (win7) finds the phone + White Led
5)RSD detects it cause i can flash it. (about 10 times now...)
6)Phone can be charged (Thank you God)
7)Every single one sbf goes Finished- PASS...
Some more information.
- I am from Greece and the Rom used Greek(localization stuff)
- The Rom had Blur (God Damn it)
- Android was 2.3.6
/EDIT
-RSD report that i have Bootloader version v0x000910 on phone...
Android Play store reports my Defy+ as "Vodafone Motorola MB526". (Should i go for Vodafone singed packages?)
I have read almost any thread for the broken Defy+ but the real problem is that i can not recall my stock sbf
And the questions from here...
a) Is there a way to see my bootloader version while in this messed up state? (and does it even matter?)
b) If it was a Vodafone Blur there would some dinstict features i could have seen? ( so i can start flashing vodafone sbf again...)
c) http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_jordanplus/list.php has only full sfb right?
d) Suppose i had a v6 sfb,If i tried a higher sfb version wouldnt the phone worked?
e) I have tried all the http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_jordanplus/list.php that is Retail Central Europe (GR_SIGN) but i have failed should i tried them again?
-EDIT- (forgot questions after my chrome crashed)

Well i tried about 6 sbf with dfp 231. From DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_CN that is used for bl7 root (the first one that made the black screen my lovable partner) to British/retail CEE/unknown/ o2 / vodafone /german / nordic and nothing happened. All Finish /pass and all black screen + white led.
RSD report that i have Bootloader version v0x000910 on phone. I hope this can help in some way...
I decided to try all the 2.3.6 sbfs... let's see...
Hm...
i just flashed
DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-312_TMOUK_SIGN_USADEFYEMARAB1B8TMDE011.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNGIBRTMDE_P029_A033_M008_Service1FF
and phone stuck at reboot manually your phone. and now is dead. Cant connect to pc. nice...
You may have ran out of battery. If the dfp 231 flashing resulted in a black screen after a data wipe then you should try selecting the blank flash option. Also try a different cable. If still there's a problem then it'd reckon it's hardware failure
About the boot loader code, yeah it's fine but unfortunately is no help

if you dont fix it yet
charge your battery and put this sbf with RSDlite
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/43690836/An...gerbread_2.3.6_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_CEE_CGv7.zip
after you charge the battery check if rsd see your phone when is in OFFmode and flash the sbf in this way
THANK YOU for your time and your responses.
What do you mean blank flash? Its the first time i come across this term.
My speculations was also that i am out of battery so i ordered an external battery charger from ebay just to be sure.( i have seen the mcgyer way but i am afraid to do it cause everything are going south at the moment so just to be sure )
I have also came across the idea of the factory cable. From the threads here in xda there is a user who actually tried one on a defy (MB525) so i am thinking of ordering one of these.
NEW INFO. Android Play store reports my darling dead Defy+ as "Vodafone Motorola MB526". I think i should turn to Vodafone Blur singed packages. What do you think?

I will change the usb and i ll reinstall the drivers.
Thank you for the info on the term!
I will wait for the power to charge and i will try again.

So i ll choose it before i flash.Ok i ll try it that too.
I am currently waiting my external battery wall charger and my factory cable from ebay.
I used the pc usb charge all night trick and nothing happened... :crying:
So i will wait to charge the battery by normal means and then if this also fails i will try for the factory cable.
Anyone has any thoughts on the factory cable?
Mcgyer trick is the factory cable, using which one can flash without battery

Wait.Factory cable loads directly the bootloader while Mcgwer trick just gives power to the phone.
And i think factory cable its safer when you use it because the phone is actually waits to be given a 5V supply in that pin and there is not a chance of frying anything,
I think... :S

The problem is that i can no longer boot to anything. THE only thing that my defy+ does is the white led when connected to pc. nothing else. nothing at all.
And the battery, power button, vol + or vol - doesnt work with nothing because i can only stare at the blank screen of my defy+...
:crying:
Pull battery out ,Hold vol. Up connect to usb ..push battery in

Yesterday i intalled the cm 10.1 on my defy, then, i wanted to go back to the cm 10 backup i did before installing the new one, so I did a wipe data and cache, and then restored the backup (i have done this hundreds of times before and never had any trouble).
The problem was, that in the middle of the restore, the phone died (an error message and then nothig, i had to take of the battery to turn it off) :S
Now, it doesn't start (it shows the google logo and then resets).
aaand, the boot menu (volume key when the light is on while booting) is complety broken: The options to open the custom recovery or the stock recovery doesn' t work (they do nothing when i select them, it just go back to the boot menu).
The option to enable adb neither works, so i cant fix it from the pc...
and the fatory recovery (power + volume) doesn't change anything.
Any ideas?
Start from flashing stock sbf

mmmmm
I've already tried doing this (were you talkin about that?): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537
But the problem is that the pc doesn't recognice the phone... I mean, the steps I followed where this:
- Download and install Motorola Defy driver
- Download and install RSD Lite
- Open RSD Lite
- Enter Bootloader Mode on you phone (Power+VolUp)
- Connect phone to you PC (USB)
- Open RSD - Lite
- Flash new SBF
But when I click "Start" or "Show Device" in the RSD Lite, it does nothing... am I missing something?
This might sound stupid but open rsdlite and then connect the phone. Also make sure the drivers are the latest version (6 I think) and open rsdlite with administrator privileges.
Edit - why open rsdlite 2 times?

nope.. still nothing :/
Hi, i've got almost the same problem. Defy (quarx cm10) died this afternoon and after reboot makes bootloop. Wiping cache and dalvik nothing change, exeprt that it make defy freezing on 'device is starting'. So then i wipe everything and started from stock sbf... I've flashed 3.42CEE and surprise... it's bootlooping... Any ideas?
I fixed it!!
