I have a Verizon galaxy tab. During the installation of CWM, my tab was locked up.
I used the recovery image that was mad by Clockworkmod during the process to get back to where I had started. When doing so, I ended up with no gps or 3g functions. The airplane mode is always on, and cannot be turned off.
I have tried installing a stock rom for the US verizon tab, with the same result, no 3g or gps and airplane mode locked on.
I am not sure what got lost in the recovery, and have not been able to find a answer in any searches I have done.
Any help on getting these functions back would be appreciated.
Same issue with Sprint Tab
I had the same issue with my Sprint Tab after installing a basic "Relax and Sleep" app. I fought it for 5 days with the help of Samsung and Sprint. We master reset and data wiped. We tinkered with multiple settings under the secret codes. In the end, Sprint said that they don't cover or service the device. They refused to swap out the device or do anything. Samsung said that I had to send it to them to repair and they would return it in 5-10 business days.
After multiple phone calls, I sent an email to every corporate email address I could find at Sprint. If I hadn't bought my Tab at a Third party vendor (Radio Shack), Sprint was willing to let me out of my contract. In the end I had to settle for 2-3 weeks without my 35 day old toy and a one month credit.
If you find a solution or the root of this problem, I would love to know.
What do you see when you type *#1234# into the phone dialer?
No phone dialer on a verizon tab, so I can't enter that.
Still looking for help in understanding what turned my radio off and how I can get it back.
Some additional information.
I reflashed the stock rom again to my tab. After doing so, I proceeded to re-download some of the apps I had on prior to the flashing. One of these is Z4root. When I opened the app to root the tab, it said the tab was already rooted.
This makes me wonder, is there any area of the file system that is not getting touched when I flash the new rom to the tab? If so, is this where the problem I am having with the radio being off, located.
Any thoughts?
I bought my housemate a used epic to replace his palm pre until we can look at the note or galaxy nexus later this year. So far registration with sprint has gone fine - they said the ESN was clear and it's been bound to his account without a problem.
The issue is that the data connection is stuck saying 'error 67: username/password may be incorrect'. Looking through "phone settings -> about phone -> system status" shows his phone number and MSID according to what sprint told us, but the 'user name' is still apparently the previous user and a factory reset via the menus and even a full wipe/repartition back to EC05 via odin doesn't get rid of this.
Is there anything we can do here at home or is the only option going to be to go into a sprint store directly?
Try updating Profile. If that don't work then Sprint will have to walk you through a hard reset. You will need advanced tech support for that.
The profile update failed twice on the phone with tech support, took about 5 minutes and timed out with username/passwd failure. We also tried dialing in some numbers on the keypad ##somenumbers#, edit the phone number and MSID by hand, saved and rebooted.
It is definitely a provisioning error. Make sure you are in a strong 3G signal area and try the profile update a few more times. If the tech can't make it stick you probably have to bring it in to a store.
Nevermind.. it's been about half an hour since the last attempt, we tried again with updating the profile and it went through that time. We're all good here! Thanks for the feedback though :]

Glad you got it working.
Make sure is old device is powered off. Power his new novice off for more than 60 seconds to clear the VLR (this is network side). Power device in and then dial ##72786#, follow on screen prompts. You will need your msl. You used this to program your msn and MSID earlier. This will clear your device radio without wiping all user data. After it is done it will try to iota. If it times out again, esn swap to another device wait 5min and the swap back to his epic. You can do the swap on the website. This should get you going. Hopefully you won't have to do the swaps. Also make sure your signal strength is better than -101dbm.
Edit - guess you got it before I finished typing. Glad it's working.

Hey all, I just got my GN3, still am using the GN2 though BC Verizon can't get the phone to activate to my phone number? Actually Verizon says it show the GN3 activated, but l have no service/phone/data/anything at all. They tried 5 different GN3's and 13 different SIM cards before they gave up trying to activate. My number works/activates just fine on my GN2. So they gave me a temporary number yesterday to see if it was a problem with my particular phone number and sure enough, my GN3 activated on the temp number. When I switched back to my reg # it wouldn't connect...again. Then I went to work which was about 10 miles away and the GN3 activated on my reg#. I called my wife, made a few texts, surfed the net, etc... for about 2 hours, when I got about 8 miles from home, I lost all connection again... What gives here? It's the weirdest problem I've ever seen. I'm home now, and tried activating it again with no luck. Any thoughts??
I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum for this thread, if so please move??
Mine wouldn't activate for the first 20-30 minutes or so. I removed the sim card, reinstalled then went on the website and updated the Note 3 in formation for my line. Had keep refreshing my lines info on the Web page about 2 more times and hit accept before it Finally activated. Took about 5 additional minutes after removing the sim. Not sure if that will help, but hope you get it working.

Well seeing as how I got mine on 10OCT2013 at 10 am and it still hasn't activated, I think it's not going to at this point. I may sadly have to go back to my GN2 and return the GN3 altogehter. :crying:
Mine seemed stuck on activation, ended up using my old sim card, activated almost instantly.
Update: just got off phone with Big Red and they said that for some reason when I'm on my "home" towers, my activation has trouble letting go of the GN2?? Maybe it really is hard to say good-bye...
They are working on it now...
I've always had an issue activating my old number on a new phone with a new SIM.... I've always just switched my old SIM card in and it's worked perfectly lol
Make sure the SIM card has been linked correctly to your phone number. The easiest way is to look on the VZW paperwork that came with the phone and make sure it's your phone nbr and not another person's on your plan.
I am having more or less the same issue.
To make a long story short, whenever I leave the "home" cell tower that the phone was activated on, it will not connect to any kind of network whatsoever. It just shows a circle with a line through it, and at the same time it reboots itself, randomly and frequently, even when it isn't being touched. All of these problems go away as soon as I get back home to that cell tower. I wonder if the original poster activated his phone at work the first time, and that's why it only works when he returns to work?
I have tried 3 different SIMS to fix this: the one that came in the GN3, the one from my old Galaxy Nexus, and a brand new one from a Verizon store. I have done half a dozen factory data restores.
My next step is to try an in-store swap. A local store around here first refused to hold a phone for me to swap, then when I got there (or rather when a family member got there), we were told that there was a master ticket for this issue and there was a freeze on doing any exchanges until Samsung released a "fix". My subsequent conversations with Verizon tech support have confirmed that the whole story about a master ticket and not doing exchanges was a complete lie. The stores are actually required to uphold the 14 day worry free guarantee no matter what. Obviously this store didn't want to give up a phone to me that they could sell to someone else. They weren't just being unhelpful, they were running interference on resolving my problem for their own greed.
I had an activation problem in store yesterday when swapping my note 2 for note 3. The sales rep entered the sim card info that was on the sticker on the box for the sim card that comes with the phone.
It all ended up causing major activation / service connectivity issues because the sim card info on the box did Not match the actual sim card number for the sim pre-installed on the phone.
This is apparently an issues for some other people as well. If the sim card in the phone is not reconciled with the info on the box prior to entering the info into Verizon's system.... You will be in for a time consuming headache

Switching your device or SIM will not work. I have now gone through 6 GN3's and almost 20 different SIM cards. It's the towers/service from Verizon. They have noted that this is a problem and are working diligently to fix it...lol Meanwhile, I've returned my GN3 and will wait until they fix this disaster. This rollout is almost as bad as Obamacare...haha

Mine kept trying to activate on the phone and would continually fail.
I thought I had a faulty device and was going to go to the store. Something told me to login to MyVerizon online on my computer [since I kept my old phone off as directed via the on-screen instructions] and poke around and see if there was anything there that might be able to help me.
I clicked on my line, and the Manage My Device link on the left hand side of the screen and ended up being able to complete the activation via the website. Re-booted the phone, and then voila~! Activation complete.
FYI, I was migrating from an iPhone 5 to the GN3.

Yeah I tried that as well. I'm not sure there is anything I haven't tried. I've returned my device and decided to stick with my Note 2. Maybe when Verizon gets their heads on right and fixes this, I'll come back.
I followed all the steps that I could find about flashing to T-mo and I have Voice/SMS/MMS but HS+/3G data. I tried the all things service mode steps, but I'm not rooted. Pretty leery about that, having never done it before and don't want to brick the only phone I have at present. When I restart the phone it cycles through the VZW start up 3-5 times, but it does finally boot and show service as Tmobile. Which made me wonder if I should go ahead and root and use Tmo's latest ROM. Also when I plug my phone in to my laptop I get nagged by Kies to update, so far I haven't but should I do so? I have the voice mail indicator from VZW and it won't go away, and all of my numbers I dial out have the +11 in front of them. I changed the dial setting to stop it from being dialed but it continues to happen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
So i've been trying to track down the infamous bug that's been cutting peoples service off, and making calls and text stop working.
This is related to your NAM programming and is a direct result after flashing a AOSP rom and returning back to the stock rom.
I was able to re-create this using "lineage" but it also happened on AOKP and possibly will happen flashing other builds for the V20.
There are 2 seperate issues here, the 1st one is your programming is being wiped out, or really its just being hidden and can be re-added back by a few steps ill list below. The other issue is the ERROR CODE 16 that some will receive when trying to make a call out. This one here is on sprints end not the device. In short Error code 16 is network security, and its a special department that handles devices getting onto the network incorrectly and being dinged for suspicious activity. In short, Sprint thinks you have 2 devices running on 1 phone number simultaneously. This causes the error-code 16 to be placed on your acct until you allow the call to complete and speak to a rep.
To fix ERROR CODE 16: Call any number, it will re-direct you to the department you need to reach, it will ask you to enter your 10 digit phone number to continue, do as it tell you then someone will pick-up and ask these questions. Have them ready!
They will need your Phone #, Name on Act, Pin # and Model of your device. They will clear the block, and ask you to hang up, power cycle the phone and update prl and profile once it turns back on. This HAS TO BE DONE TO GET SERVICES BACK! The block is on sprint end and its designed to keep your device from being cloned, and people to steal your service for free...
I already knew what this error was but most of you may not, and seeing it effected me and atleast 1 other person its time for some community info to explain this.
For the No talk or text issue,
your ptn is missing and your msid is missing or labled "unknown"
you need to go here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20...7-v20-t3557676
and follow the steps. Try just clicking each item instead of changing the values, when i did it today to get my service back my info was already there, it just needed to be clicked and OK hit. once done you must re-boot and talk&text will work again. This is just simply manual programming for your phone and somewhere along the lines sprint hid the option to do this using your msl. Probably to curb phones getting put on pre-paid or being cloned etc. Oh well, this link will show you how to manually program your device using a app from the play-store!
Good luuck
Damn now I'm scared to flash back to your rom
