To get your warenty on Staples you must have your receipt but you also have the Google 1-Year warenty wich doesn't require a receip just call them number is on google.com/nexus

You'd need the receipt in order to return the unit to asters for a refund within their standard 14-day return period. You don't need a receipt to get warranty coverage from ASUS/Google.

I more prefer a local store than asking Google/Asus for repair as the would take more Time...
So just tell me one thing would the local staple be able to repair it I'm even ready to give additional charges...... I just have few dent marks on the steel frame around the nexus I just want to get it changed so is it possible to do that if I take it to the staples
Of course not. They are a supplies store, they don't have computer repair shops

It's not a steel frame, it's a silver painted plastic. It will get scuffed if you're not careful with it.

I don't think so yet. I think until the tablet is out longer, and there are spare parts, I just don't see how they could repair it since it's plastic. Have you considered finding a nice case that covers the bezel?

Or if the marks are dark, you could maybe get silver car paint and lightly paint over them?
The only other suggestion I have, though it's a long shot, is finding a local store that repairs iphones or computers, and show them and ask what they can do. I doubt they can repair it though, but that is where you would go to get the glass on your iphone replaced, for example...

The bezel will be hard to repair since its glued and hard to remove. You would have to seperate the bonded glass and LCD. At least that what it looked it to me when I disassembled mine first tablet trying to fix the screen lift. Its very easy to break the glass even for a pro so even if you get a pro or Asus to do the work it will be expensive since if the replace the entire front panel. Just get a hard shell to put on it and you wont even see the bezel. Sounds like you just have cosmetic damage anyways

I've used a product like that on my headlights before, it's basically a polish compound for plastic. I think it will ruin the finish of the bezel and won't do anything for your dents. Only way to make the bezel like new is to replace it or you can just ignore it since it's only cosmetic.

Actually they are scratches not dents.........but there may be other polishes which would certainly do the Job....any suggestions
And second,y I cannot ignore it.....
Just for info, in the UK they scan the barcode when they sell you a product, receipt or no receipt they have a record of your purchase and can confirm this without a receipt, if it wasn't scanned then that might be a problem.
Don't know if this helps.

Guys can you please tell me an alternative to my problem and tell me fast
since its not a defect the fastest solution would be to buy another tablet . GET the one you have fixed later and sell it on ebay .. Or well send it to me. Giggles..t
there is not quick pc /phone / tablet repair facility ..
These things are meant to be disposable..
Even if it takes days from Google or ASUS it is alright since you send your broken tablet once you received the new one

I don't have the link, but google kindle fire teardown to see if it would be easy for you to do yourself. If you think it might be, DON'T USE REPAIR UNIVERSE FOR THE REPLACEMENT! Horrible items, slow shipping even if you pay extra for next day, horrible customer service and no phone support. Good luck and im interested to know how your kiddo did that too.

Wouldn't put it past a 4 year old to find a way to shatter inch thick steel.
My three yo knocked mine off a table, 24", on day 3 and broke the glass. I called Amazon and they offered me a replacement for $100. I figured it was a decent deal considering the amount of time it would take me to procure replacement glass and to tear apart/put together the device.

Its like the warranty on my pelican case, covers everything except shark bites, bear attacks, and children under 5.
Amazon will sell you the Square Tade 2 year warranty for $45 and you get 3 replacements during the term. Obivously you don't tell them the screen is already shattered when you call in to order it. Co-workers 5 year old brother got one for chirstmas and broke the screen 3 days later. She bought the warranty about two weeks ago and made the claim this week and Amazon overnighted her a new Kindle.

I think 2-4 year old kids are one of nature's most destructive forces. Imagine if they somehow organized and decided to focus that power!
As Toonakan said, Amazon offered a replacement for $100. Half the price of new seemed a bit steep to me. There are some 3rd party repair places but they are all about $130. Ebay has some parts for about $50 - $70. I will probably just go with that if I can find a seller that looks trustworthy. I have replaced screens on a few phones and gaming systems over the years, so I am not too worried about doing it myself.
The problem with a less expensive device, is repair costs seem a lot more expensive relative to the initial purchase price.
Just a word of caution when changing covers. Do not press to hard on the screen when pushing the cover on. I know have a cracked screen and absolutely heart broken. So to that end, anyone suggest any good insurance companies in the UK?

ah that's sad news sorry to hear that
I don't know if you are in the UK but if you are then many bank accounts give free insurance for phones, etc.that option might be there in other countries too.but you need the right type of bank account for that.my bank account gives me free travel insurance, break down cover for my car and phone insurance among other things.a lot cheaper than getting these separately.
Cracked screen
I dropped min today from 20cm height and first 5 minutes later it cracked in 2 pieces so I feel your pain. I checked what the spare part costs, and it was 285 euro's for the AMOLED+Glass apparently it is glued together so everything has to be replaced, and then you need to add the work costs. So it probably will be cheaper to buy a used one and sell yours for parts
Just broke my screen the other day. Getting out of my car, note was between me and car door. Didnt end well. 250 for lcd combo on ebay.
It reminds me of my first scratch on my vehicle, dont want to touch it.

No, this is wrong. Manufacturers lie about only way to replace glass+display. I broke the Galaxy S screen, and at samsung service they told me to replace everything, and that I have no chance to replace only screen. But I decided to try replace it by my self. I buy glass for Galaxy S on ebay for 9$. Then, using guitar pick I removed shards of glass. Then pasted on the sides of the glass with glue. And that's it! Fits perfectly. Works even better than before.
Yeah I need to upgrade current account to get it...don't have a problem doing it but was just unsure how long it will be before I can claim. But I also thought it might take longer to get it repaired than going for a mobile phone specialist insurer...also with the bank insurance..I know a while back my brother claimed and they didn't even ask for his old phone that was easily repaired!
Also just like to add...I really didn't apply that much pressure to the screen been, nursing this baby. So be careful. Wouldn't wish it on anyone to go through the pain I am.

Getting and claiming phone insurance after your phone is broken is fraud!
Either insure your phone beforehand, or deal with the consequences of not doing so, but don't break the law, and put the premiums up for people who had more foresight than you!

I think also like you !!!
;-)
I would strongly suggest you did not claim for it after the event as this is a criminal offence.
You may however, wish to check if your household (contents) insurance covers such damage and/or if your credit card covers accidental damage if you used it.

You can go to most shops and get your Galaxy S fixed for 90-100 euro where they only switch the glass but with the Note you can't find anyone, only to replace the whole thing. I have an insurance but was not sure if I was going to use it because it is my 2 device in 1 year that went busted. But it is painful to be remembered every time I turn it on so I will find out what the costs is going to be and use my insurance. I guess not using the insurance when you have it is to commit fraud
Long story short, I got in an accident, and my 3 day old N4's back glass got shattered. I always had a cover on but I installed my Skinomi and decided that I should leave it off for a day to let it set. Bad timing.
Anyway, so is there a source for replacement glass, back only? I can't send it back to LG, the N4 doesn't sell in my country yet.
I think so is a back glass will at the aliexpress. Not original, but at low price. If you want original back glass you ned go to the lg service for the factory refubrishing.

Hi Cyan,
Im also from India,Im planning to buy nexus from EBAY.....did you got the back glass...If so can you share the details....will be very helpful...
So, it happened to me. Just my luck.
Was at university walking and the phone slipped from my hand onto the floor. It seemed to have survived that fairly well. Then it slid off the stairs (no barrier at the edge of the staircase going up my university) and fell about 8-10 feet onto the stair case below. Screen is ruined and unresponsive.
The phone is rooted and has an unlocked bootloader so I know this voids the warranty but I can lock the bootloader again and flash the phone back to the stock rom via cwm.
I bought the phone from Carphone Warehouse for £400 back in December because I couldn't wait and now I'm left with a brick. I need a phone to handle uni life and contact my fianceé in the States. I don't really want to have to spend money I don't have on a replacement N4 so is there anything I can do guys?
Any help at all will be extremely appreciated.
(I'd post a link to an image of the screen but cannot do so yet).
Thanks
Sorry to hear that, however the only option I think would've been better if you had phone insurance and it would replace your damaged phone and it would cost like 5 pounds a month. On the other hand maybe you can send it to Carphonewarehouse and see what the estimate is to get it repaired. Don't think rooted or not makes much difference in this situation.
Anyway good luck and hope you find some solution

Ouch, nightmare...
The only cheap way is to repair it yourself. If the mainboard is ok, get a new front and back panel. From the teardown I've seen of the Nexus 4, it doesn't seem that difficult. I'm sure there is a vid on youtube you can use as guide. If you can't do it yourself, a new phone seems to be the only option. At least it will be cheaper this time... Did you have a case on it when it dropped?

See that seems doable but the only problem is is the (is it aluminium?) that goes around the phone also got dented as it fell. This is even worse considering I actually DID have a case on it. I was using the Ringke Slim case. If anybody is using this case I highly recommend them to rethink their purchase because even though the phone hit the floor side on, it didn't protect it. Imagine if it hit face down. I have another generic 'S' silicone case from eBay and that would have done a far better job at protecting the sides. Shoulda, woulda, coulda eh?
Im wondering if LG's manufacture warranty will work in my favour at all? I just don't have the funds to replace the phone comfortably but that's the only option I see unfortunately.
I don't think you'll have any luck with warranty repair. Sorry about your phone though.

At that point Id just order another phone and sell the first for parts.

Sell the phone for parts? How would that work? Im not very savvy with this side of phones. Do I sell the phone in its entirety to a company who buys things like that? Sell on eBay for really cheap trying to get whatever I can get?

I disagree. The only cheap way to do it is via insurance, 50 quid excess or whatever is a lot cheaper than the 150 pound screen is going to cost.
The screen won't respond to my swipes. I have another phone to switch to later, but for now is there any way i can forward my texts to my email? I can't even power the phone off as it is, only can do a soft reset.

My Nexus 4 met it's demise at Subway next to my work. I found a display/digitizer replacement for less than $90 including shipping and sales tax. Look around, you'll find cheaper places just make sure you buy from a reputable merchant.
Make sure the quality is good as well.

Yeah, it's known for the screen to not work after it cracks. Next time don't forget to get a case. You never know when your phone will fall and break. A good tpu case will provide protection during accidental falls.
