I'm one of the several who have the autorotate issues that Acers OTA 4.0.3 introduced.
Just curious if the custom roms suffer from the same autorotate problems that ACER's stock 4.0.3 1.033 build...? I found the link on here to the 1.054 build from acer that is the fabled fix for autorotate issues.... I am planning on rooting to install that in hopes it fixes my problem... but I'd be open to trying other roms... just wasnt sure if autorotate would work on those roms.

I was wondering if there is a gingerbreakBB for stock android 3.1? I just want to root my stock Android 3.1 without cwm and custom rom... I'm having so many issues with Prime 1.5 and MagnuSuprem3_ULTIMAT3-Series roms.. So I decided to stay with stock 3.1 to see if it resolves the issues that I'm facing... Example, random reboots, Sleep of Death (only on Prime 1.5), HDMI port not working ect..
No. That exploit was patched in one of the 3.0 updates.
Hi guys,
I think this has been discussed plenty of times, but I'm still having this wake up bug even on Ice Cream Sandwich, where the tablet just wakes up from sleep on its own without anyone touching of unlocking it every few minutes. Is there a fix for this anywhere? Thanks for the help.
Hi,
I have the same problem with the stock rom (3.2) !
I didn't find a solution.
Used to have this issue while on Taboonay 2.2 and 2.1 (HC 3.2) but since then I've used both Taboonay 3.0.1 and Flexreaper R10/R11 and the issue has stopped. What ROM (and version) are you running?
Today I installed CM7.2 following the instructions in the thread. I came from stock froyo 2.2.1 and everything worked fine but had some random reboots.
Since I have CM7.2 installed my wifi doesn't work anymore. If I turn it 'on', it doesn't search for available networks. It disables itself after +-30sec. I also noticed I don't have a Mac-adress anymore.
Is it possible that the problem is caused by doing no 'remove caches'. It wasn't in the instructions so I didn't do it. Should doing that fix the problem?
reflashing always works hehe
Tried it and it worked.
Sorry for the useless thread...
I am having this same problem with the newest Aurora ICS, but reflashing didn't fix it.
If you want a stable GB rom forget about the official roms and use any custom GB with .32 kernel. These are the most stable ones. I use ezet's.
Version 1.041.00 of the OTA ROM was flat busted on my A500.
I've updated to a v1.054.00 based ROM and have not had any rotation issues since. The ROM is called FlexReaper-Relix_rev5 and is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517181 If you do not want a custom ROM then Civato has also placed a stock OTA of 1.054.00 (with Root) at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633907
I am thinking that perhaps 1.054 is the fabled fix that Acer is putting on devices sent into them for "repair"?
It would be good to know if someone who has received one back from Acer repair can say what specific ROM version is installed when they got it back. Go to Settings -> About Tablet, then report back the Build number and similar info. That would probably help the devs out a bit.
Also, I have the same v7 bootloader as with 1.041, so all that has changed was a version update to the ROM. I also briefly tried Civato's OTA 1.054 ROM and it was not having any issue. I usually had the issue on 1.041 within a few minutes of booting and running just a couple apps.
Knock on wood, hopefully my tablet will remain sane.
Good luck!
After running a rooted stock ICS on my A500 for a while, I upgraded to JB using pjsports "ROM | WIP | CM10 JellyBean 4.1.2 Unofficial for acer a500 [Build 3]"
In the process, I used the AfterOTA tool to install the ICS V8 unlocked bootloader, as well as an updated kernel I believe.
Aside from a few glitches, the ROM worked okay, but I think I had the memory leak problem everyone talks about... My icons & widgets on the homescreen would disappear, forcing me to reboot. I ultimately flashed back to an ICS rom, but maintained the kernel and bootloader. To my surprise, the problem with the homescreen icons remained, forcing me to reboot at least once a day.
I ended up reflashing the stock ICS unrooted rom with stock kernel and bootloader, then went through the rooting process again.
The tablet has been running smoothly ever since with no memory leak issue.
So I'm wondering... Is the memory leak and homescreen icon problem really a problem with the Jelly Bean ROMs or is there possibly a problem with the bootloader or kernel?
