[Q] Memory Leak Issue - Acer Iconia A500

After running a rooted stock ICS on my A500 for a while, I upgraded to JB using pjsports "ROM | WIP | CM10 JellyBean 4.1.2 Unofficial for acer a500 [Build 3]"
In the process, I used the AfterOTA tool to install the ICS V8 unlocked bootloader, as well as an updated kernel I believe.
Aside from a few glitches, the ROM worked okay, but I think I had the memory leak problem everyone talks about... My icons & widgets on the homescreen would disappear, forcing me to reboot. I ultimately flashed back to an ICS rom, but maintained the kernel and bootloader. To my surprise, the problem with the homescreen icons remained, forcing me to reboot at least once a day.
I ended up reflashing the stock ICS unrooted rom with stock kernel and bootloader, then went through the rooting process again.
The tablet has been running smoothly ever since with no memory leak issue.
So I'm wondering... Is the memory leak and homescreen icon problem really a problem with the Jelly Bean ROMs or is there possibly a problem with the bootloader or kernel?

[Q] Leaked 4.0.3 ICS Back to 3.2.1

I installed the leak after getting pissed about how long it took to get ics and how terrible honeycomb was. The leak has been incredible and made my tab sooth as butter... However I am afraid I won't get the official update which hopefully will be patched to include the ring.
How can I flash back to stock 3.2.1? I have I have looked all over and haven't seen a clear cut solution
Thx
if u r on hc bootloader all things bein equal then try a nand restore - worked for me.
if it doesnt or u on ics bootloader then its an EUU/manual apx downgrade procedure.
i've since flashed flexreaper, acer ring works perfect and so i'm sticking with it till the furore dies down and acer have their rom stable

[Q] What to do with PB liberty tab to have ICS

Hi guys,
I've a rooted Liberty Tab with Acer A500 HC 3.2.1 and a full nandroid backup to go back to PB stock ROM.
I would like to update to ICS, but I know that ICS requires a new bootloader, and as far as I understand, it's not possible to revert back to HC bootloader.
Is this right?
The first choice I have is to update my tablet with a modded A500 ICS rom, and I will loose (forever) my PB HC bootloader.
Otherwise I can go back to stock PB rom, accept PB 3.2.1 update and wait for PB ICS OTA (does it exists?)
Any other suggestion?
Is it stable to use ICS with HC bootloader? I didn't understand if it's ok or it's only a workaround but not stable.
Many thanks!
Hi,
you can use, as an example, the Flexreaper Rom with the HC Bootloader without any probs. The Rom has an autodetection for the bootloader and installs the right Kernel accordingly.
I did this from the beginning of the Flexreaper Rom until last R12.5.
Last week I decided to change the Bootloader to the ICS V3 patched. The same way I installed the V3 pathed ICS Bootloader, could be used also to flashe the HC bootloader back. But as mentioned, not really needed.
The Flexreaper Rom is excellent, give it a try.

Auto-rotation issue seems fixed with 1.054 based ROM

Version 1.041.00 of the OTA ROM was flat busted on my A500.
I've updated to a v1.054.00 based ROM and have not had any rotation issues since. The ROM is called FlexReaper-Relix_rev5 and is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517181 If you do not want a custom ROM then Civato has also placed a stock OTA of 1.054.00 (with Root) at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633907
I am thinking that perhaps 1.054 is the fabled fix that Acer is putting on devices sent into them for "repair"?
It would be good to know if someone who has received one back from Acer repair can say what specific ROM version is installed when they got it back. Go to Settings -> About Tablet, then report back the Build number and similar info. That would probably help the devs out a bit.
Also, I have the same v7 bootloader as with 1.041, so all that has changed was a version update to the ROM. I also briefly tried Civato's OTA 1.054 ROM and it was not having any issue. I usually had the issue on 1.041 within a few minutes of booting and running just a couple apps.
Knock on wood, hopefully my tablet will remain sane.
Good luck!

[Q] GT-P3113 - Uninstall Jellybean 4.1.1 to restore stock 4.0.4?

This may be a stupid question, but is there a way to restore the stock 4.0.4 rom to my GT-P3113 after installing the leaked Jellybean 4.1.1 update?
I had 4.0.3 (rooted) with CWM and finally updated to 4.0.4., but started messing around with a few different roms which made the tablet not perform to my liking. I found and installed the stock 4.0.3 rom and allowed the tab to do the stock software update to 4.0.4. With CWM installed, I performed a backup and decided to try the latest (at the time) 4.1.1. leaked Jellybean update. The idea was to try it out, but once that was done, I wanted to return to the 4.0.4 rom. The problem: I'm unable to use CWM now - it won't boot to allow me to restore my backup. When I try using the power + volume up, the tab boots into the Android system recovery (3e), which doesn't have the options that were present with CWM to allow a restore.
I'm am fairly new to playing with roms, so I'm not sure if there is a way in Jellybean to get the ability to boot into CWM to perform a restore back to 4.0.4.
My research into this hasn't been bearing much fruit. Might someone out there be able to point me in the right direction? Any assistance would be appreciated.
You can try by flashing a stock rom via odin (4.0.3 or 4.0.4) and then flash a kernel with cwm to restore your backup.
Hope this helps.
I was able to revert back to 4.0.4
I did the exact same thing. I'm a new user so I cannot post a link. But, there is a article by android authority with the title:
"Revert the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3113 to Android 4.0.4 ICS build UEBLH2"
If you google it you should be able to find it.
This is for the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (P3113)
Reverts back to ICS 4.0.4
This helped a great deal. Thanks Barktooth and Just-Steve for the info!

[Q] Official AOKP users

Hello,
Tried many custom roms but usually end up coming back to the offical AOKP rom for the N4. I like the options and speed of the rom, find it very stable and use the theme engine. I haven't tried their 4.3 roms as they are all nightlies and I am always led to believe these are a bit risky for using as a daily driver. I use my phone for work and important things.
I have stayed with 4.2, but the only issue I have found is that the camera flash does not work. I have tried the latest stable 4.2 release, but then under instruction by aokp him/herself flashed the last 4.2 nightly as I was told there was a camera fix for that release. This was a clean install, I wiped and flashed.
Unfortunately I still cannot get the camera flash to work. I know my phone is not faulty as the flash works fine in Beanstalk, CM and other roms.
Anyone else experienced this?
The nightly releases for AOKP 4.3.1 are stable. Just make s nandroid backup and install them.

ThemeManager crash with Franco/Hells kernel
Hi,
Did anyone had issue with ThemeManager. It's crashing always while restarting phone. I tried Franco/Hells kernel and it happens on both. It's working correctly on standard kernel. I tried to set up stock theme/clean data in application. Nothing helps.
