just like the title says,
flashboot flash beta.zip
is that right, or do i need something else?
(I used mramirez's auto-script to unlock it, if it makes a diff)
and does anyone know for sure if CM7 has that f%&! motoblur removed?
i know how to use search, but i'm tired and i've been reading all night to get this far, just hoping for a couple of quick answers. If anyone knows i'd appreciate it...
Thanks
impatience is what kills devices.
what exactly do you think CM7 is? of course it has nothing motoblur in it!
as for your flashboot command....ummmm no
follow the directions for flashing a ROM and for the love of pete, read and actually understand what you are doing. dont just blindly follow some damn walkthroughs and expect to be able to get out of any jam
Yes it has ALL motoblur removed. To install do the following
*NOTE* BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING BACKUP YOUR APPS USING TITANIUM BACKUPS, YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA
1. Download Rom manager from the market.
2. Flash Clockwork mod recovery image(first option in the app)
3. When you successfully flashed the recovery(it'll tell you) click the the second option "Reboot in recovery"
4. MAKE BACKUP! In backup and restore ( use volume keys to go up and down and power button to select.)
5. When backup finishes, choose Wipe data/factory reset, then wipe cache, then in the advanced menu, wipe dalvic cache.
6. Choose install zip from sd, and choose beta.zip and gAPPs.zip.
7. Then reboot system now and you should boot in to cm7.
haha, i was actually trying to edit my post when you replied cuz i realized that that was a stupid question. my head is tired.
but yo man, i'm doin pretty good for never having picked up a droid until a few hours ago, so i don't wanna hear it. im a big boy if i wanna brick my phone i'll brick my phone.
now starting over...
its the .sbf file i need, and rsdlite, correct?
the problem seems to be that i cant seem to find any .sbf file anywhere related to any of the cm7 beta posts
do you know which post i should be downloading it from?
thanks the info on cm7 tho. thats what i thought cm7 was, i just didnt remember it saying that specifically, but at the time i read it, i didn't really even understand what motoblur was because i had never used a droid before.

aww, dude javi, yer the man...
those were the steps i was looking for for where i am in the whole process
i think i just kinda lost my place
My advice to you is to be careful with yer phone. Flashing stuff, especially if it's CM7 which is not based on anything that the other ROMs are based on, is not something to do lightly. It's in beta, and it has bugs. If you want a working ROM that's similar to stock but deblurred and fast, run Homebase. CM7 is in a testing stage and even though it's a great ROM, and is my daily driver, it's going to have things about it that may bother you if you just want a ROM that works like stock.

have you unlocked your bootloader yet??
thats the first step.
you are definitely quickly on your way to a brick, if you are going completely out of order
and this isnt a 'droid'. its an android phone/device. 'droid' is the name that verizon gave some of their android devices...and has forever tainted the rest of the android devices lines....people keep calling them 'droid' without knowing what it means.
yeah man, i know what i'm doing for the most part. i'm comin from a windows mobile view of things, so its a bit of an adjustment. What about alien? how does that fit in in the whole spectrum of whats available?

step 1. unlock bootloader
step 2. flash recovery (use the fastboot flash recovery method to bypass having to root it)
step 3. flash ROM
step 4. get bored with ROM, flash new ROM
step 5. see step 4
dude, yeah, its unlocked, and yeah, i know what android was. i tried to put it on my htc620 a few years back but couldn't ever get it to boot right with harrier
i do appreciate your concern tho and am grateful for the advice and info i have gotten from u guys already and if ya have anymore please share
sorry: i meant what android is, obviously, not was, and i have actually been around here for a while, i was away for a cpl years and now i cant remember what my screenname was, and my old work email i registered under is disabled, so back to 4 posts, lol
'droid' is one of those pet peeves i have.....one of many
you need to read up on what motoblur is, understand what options the different roms provide you, and pick for yourself.
personally, my atrix sat around collecting dust for months, while i waited on unlocked bootloader and CM7. its running CM7 and i have gone back to using the atrix as my daily phone for now. i couldnt stand motoblur
well, yeah, prob is i wanna get this phone up as quick as possible and yall know it takes a lot of time to go through every suggestion on wut the best method is and then havin to weed through the problems ppl had and try to determine which are actualy problems and which r ppl just bein dumb, and thats just before u start even doing anything.
so just tryin to see if anyone felt like helpin me save some time

hey, its been a while, aiight?
I'll be waiting for this guys first post in the Q & A reading : "FU%K plz help me I bricked my phone!?!" ...I know that's kinda mean, but the fact that the thread is titled Flashboot instead of Fastboot started me thinking.

Right there with you. I verbally corrected someone the other day because they kept saying it repeatedly. Very annoying.
Speedily sent from CM7 Beta
Root your phone without unlocking the bootloader. How? A new application called UnlockRoot does it all for you! Literally, all you need to do is download the UnlockRoot.exe, run it and enjoy your new rooted device. I can confirm that it is 100% working and took about 2 minutes from start to finish.
All you have to do is connect to your computer, enable USB debugging which is accessible through Settings>applications>devlopment>USB debugging
open UnlockRoot.exe and click root, after that it should take the comp. 1 min tounlock then 1 min to reboot then voila you have it rooted! You will then see the superuser app inside your app drawer. I recommend you to download busybox and titanium backup to have full control on your device. I've just rooted my xperia play and my wife's arc s using method. Both of them are running v2.3.4 so this should work on lower versions.
If there will be an instance wherein your device didn't reboot automatically, manually restart your device.

Is this in any way better than supetoneclick, zergrush?

I checked out the site and it doesnt say compatible with Xperia PLAY or any SE phones for that matter. Plus I am already rooted and unlocked bootloader. The site looks a little questionable like maybe the software could be virus filled. I dont know though. Only way to find out would be to try it, and for that I have no reason to. IT show support for the Kindle Fire. Anyone try it?

First of all that is not my site and i'm not a spammer. I only posted this method in two different forums, the other one is in the android general hacking tips. The only reason why i mentioned the site is because i'm having problems uploading the unlockroot.exe launcher in this thread. As you can see,i'm only a new member and i don't usually start threads. I'm just trying to help because i had a lot of frustrations using other rooting methods. I have a descent job and i'm not gonna benefit in spamming so don't accuse me. I just felt very excited to share this method as this worked like a charm for my xperia play. I'm not forcing you to try this so ban me if you feel like doing so.

I noticed that too but trust me,it worked for my xperia play and my wife's arc s. Both of them are running the latest android v2.3.4 that's why i'm very surprised that it worked. Other rooting methods didn't work for that version so i resorted to doomlord's method but i'm having problems installing the adb drivers as i'm using windows7. I'm so happy using this method because it's very safe,no need to unlock your bootloader. Best regards!

I'm curious, why not post directly to their site, instead of a link to a file host?
No, offense, but if you post directly to their home site, it makes it seem a lot more legit than just posting a link to your download account.

Sorry bro but i already did that when i started this thread. I just edited my post because that d31boy guy is accussing me of being a spammer and just promoting that site.
When I see a brand new poster posting a link to relatively unknown website for use of an unknown exe file, it's hard not to be suspicious. I mean, you obviously know the benefits of root and you know your way around this site. The site has absolutely no mention of how the root is applied (which isn't your fault provided you don't have an affiliation to the site ). It's a pretty big leap of faith.
However, I may have jumped in a bit too quick on this one. It would have been better just to report the post and allow a mod to make a more informed decision. For that, I apologise.
All this method is, is the zergRush method with a different name...
Here's what I did (quick run thought of what i did, attached screenshot for reference)
Downloaded it from the OP's post (http://unlockroot.com was running at 2000BYTES/SEC)
Installed it on my XP partition
rebooted, went to my linux partition
Mounted XP Partition
went to \Program Files\Unlockroot\tools\
Copied rootutility to /home/myusername/
adb shell rm -r /data/local/tmp
adb shell mkdir /data/local/tmp
adb push rootutility /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/rootutility
adb shell /data/local/rootutility
and got the attachment

Over the internet there are various guides teaching the lesson 'how to get out of a soft brick.' Some guides can be hard to follow and very hoarse leaving a noob feeling like he/she has destroyed their device. Fear Not.This is a comprehensive guide for less experienced users who happen to find themselves in a soft brick.
Dictionary - Soft brick - the phone can still boot, and be flashed easily but in its current state is unusable.
- Hard brick - the phone cannot boot and requires additional devices to do so (USB Jig, Riffbox).
This is the quickest escape route on the interweb and you will be done in no time. Here we go:
First Download Flashtool. Here (You may download any version from the previous versions tab.)
Install Flashtool.
Find the stock firmware for your device. For the x8
E15i android 2.1.1 http://www.multiupload.com/VKNI6Q6ET5 (2.1.1.C.0.0 latest firmware)
Dictionary - stock firmware - latest version of software released by the manufacturer
After downloading the firmware. Extract the file. You will be left with a firmware file with .ftf as the ending.
Go into 'my computer' then 'flashtool' folder then 'firmware'. Then copy the .ftf file into that folder.
Close the folder.
Now to make sure that your phone is recognized by flashtool, go into computer then flashtool then drivers.
Now Install the driver for the x8.
Connect your x8 to your computer.
open the Flashtool program.
Click the bolt icon in the top left.
Select the name of the firmware you downloaded (2.1.1.C.0.0) in the left panel. it will highlight blue.
Click ok (bottom right).
A box will appear telling you to put your device into flash mode. Follow the instructions it gives.
Once this is done the box will dissapear and firmware will flash.
Finally device will reboot and phone will be back to normal.
Congratulations you have unbricked your device.
I hope you found this useful. Please thank me using the button if you appreciate my efforts. #
This is my first guide. Tell me what you think. Anything I could improve.
Very good guide, cause didn't know yet about this..very thanks..

nice and quick guide, i guess that what a paniced newbie search for!
suggestion:i think you should add about the installation of drivers,as many users come here telling that their phones is not recognized by flashtool
also change the 4-noobs at the title, is kidda disturbing...put "for" instaid of 4
There is about 100 threads about that. Just color of text and size is diferent!

Thankyou for everyone's support. I have changed the '4' to 'for' in the title as suggested by stamatis16.
also
As someone who studied psychology, I know that people learn in very different ways. A guide from someone else may not help a certain person. Different fonts evoke different responses and speeds of learning. Different colours do similar things too. So in response to the 'there are millions of guides' argument, I say . Everyone learns differently and this may help someone desperate more effectively than any other. I know that when I needed this help none of the guides were as simple as the one I have composed.
In addition to this, please remember, I am spending my personal time to aid others. So negative flaming saying that my posts are 'not really helping' is always a let-down.
Thankyou once again for the support.
Special thanks lyhengboy stamatis16 for comments.
Guys, think of it this way. Its better for someone to make a new thread which will prevent 2000 threads asking the same topic.
Hmm OP can we merge this topic with the existing one with Lucas? You can always PM him for ideas
For now I agree that it is somehow odd to create extra thread for the same purpose for noob knowing that there is already an existing one. Very nice purpose but we need to be organized as well hugs.

I can understand that but I have clearly highlighted in my post before this one why I made a new thread. Please read it if you have not.
Also I would like to have my own 'branding' if you like, of guides and reviews. I try to spice each one up differently to combat that argument.
Thankyou very much for being kind when posting. Sorry if I come across as rude, I do not mean to be this way.
Q:Hmm OP can we merge this topic with the existing one with Lucas? we need to be organized as well
A: I would be very sad if you were to delete or move or zap this thread for the reasons you mention above. I have spent great periods of time composing and tailor making this for certain users. As a RC I hope you can understand my reasoning.
Thankyou once again.
EDIT: I have changed the title to make it seem 'different'. I also want to mention my 'dictionary' feature. I think this is different and may help my argument.
I fully understand you. Thy will be done
Can someone with a soft bricked X8 let me know if its possible to boot into safe mode?
Hold menu when booting.
Thankyou. I was a bit scared when you said you wanted to remove this post and 'merge it with another.' Great to know you are so supportive.
Yes, please do not merge this. I have benefited allot from this post. Merging it I think will take out the time put into to this. Plus, other people may not see this. I am happy the op decided not to merge.

I don't have a soft or a hard brick. But I acknoledge you made a great guide and thank you anyway.
It was also useful because I am still considering if I should root my Galaxy Ace Duos GT-S6802 or not. And this made me realize that even if it bricks, it can be reverted. Do you have any idea if a hard brick is reversible? Also, in worst case scenario, can I simply download the software from samsung site and install it? Thanks. And sorry if I broke any rules here, I'm still a noob (still scared by the introdutory video haha)

1. YES!, if you really want to know what rooting does,
-rooting is the process of gaining superuser access or administrative access to all system files, that is why the typical stock roms from samsung are not rooted so that the normal user does not have administrative access to manipulate or change and system files including apps cannot change the system files, rooting can cause a software malfunction (soft brick) if you in any case wrongly do something and mess your system,
2. apps that require rooting are those that need to manipulate or change something inside the system files,
please we have google to search for such facts and answer,
if you want a quick answer right away the search for "what is rooting android" in google,
By staring at this post you have agreed to waive your right to privacy,

All I want to add is
1. Search before creating a thread.
2. Read and search to get info
3. Try to use search function.. it gets you info faster..
4. Don't be lazy.. be smart.. use search...
5. Dont create multiple threads for. Each questions.. use one thread of yours for all questions..
6. Search search and more search..
Lastly, did I say SEARCH?
I guess all I can tell you is search it..

First know why you want to root your phone, and if you follow the proper procedure with the appropriate update.zip file, your phone won't be bricked.
I think link2sd and root explorer are the first thing you will ask after rooting.
Finally there's an awesome button named SEARCH. just try it bro.

the chances that states the bat will break = chances phone getting brick...

Hello from Spain!
There are several users with this wonderful smartphone in my country.
It usually comes factory unlocked, running on Android KitKat 4.4.4.
I wonder whether there exists any root method for it. I've been told it won't work the method for the 360H model.
Any tips and help is very welcome, please.
Thanks a lot!

The application language is Chinese but is really easy , do not worry

I'm gonna take a look at the APK version.

I did it! I made the root to my Galaxy core prime LTE 360F . The application needed is called "Kingroot.apk". Can you find official website on google.
The application language is Chinese but is really easy , do not worry

anyone with a rooted G360F please do that command as root, we need it for unbricking his device,
so nobody is willing to help, no problem then i will repair it by warranty or by paying, but i will stop testing recovery mods for this phone. best of luck
Why is it desirable to delete or uninstall Knox. excuse my ignorance.

Its not as secure as people might think. It can cause issues/bricks when doing certain things with rooted phones. Most of all its partially developed and backed by the nsa which is one of the most shady surveillance entities in the world

It was meant to make phone more "secure" if u are not rooting or planning on flashing a rom then u can just leave it. Otherwise there are things u should know before disabling. What are your goals for this phone?

It IS rooted ... My immediate goal for this phone is to get Google Play Store to work again after one month of it hating me after I foolishly (better word than "accidentally" which most people seem to use)" uninstalled Google Play Store after rooting my phone last month.
Can't one just BEG Google to help them with copy of Google Play for a rooted phone after foolishly uninstalling it??? ... My account with Google is good in all other respects ... If so HOW?! and WHERE?!
HOW THE HELL can you get Google Play from GOOGLE PLAY when it crashes IMMEDIATELY EVERY TIME YOU TRY???
Talk about CATCH farking 22 !!!!
If I had the money I would take a FREAKING HAMMER to my phone and buy a NEW one and start ALL OVER AGAIN DAMMIT!!!
DAYAM ... a freaking month of hundreds of hours trying to fix a stupid error that punishes you MERCILESSLY whenever you try to do ANY FARKING THING Google except search ... DAMN !

I wouldnt know a custom recovery if it bit the entirety of one of my butt cheeks off.
Android version 4.4.4 ... I will send you a screenshot of my device "about" screen on my phone with PRECISE rom details when and if I decide NOT to set myself on fire with gasoline and calm down a bit.
I am currently tethered and therefore cannot access my phones files to fetch existing screenshot of that from my phone and have too much open on my PC via my phone internet wifi connection to bother to break it this minute
Thank you SO much for your obvious intention to help me btw ...
PLEASE do not think that ANY of my anger is directed at YOU.

No worries sir. A custom recovery is clockworkmod, team win recovery project, philz recovery. They give u more options than stock recovery that comes with phone. I access recovery by holding down power, volume up, and home until samsung logo pops up, then release power and continue to hold others until recovery menu pops up. But ur phone might be different. Its important to have custom recovery so in case ur phone gets messed up you can fix it from there, or flash a new rom. And u can make a backup of the exact state ur phone is in now so u could restore it later if things go bad. I will help u with all this but it will take me awhile so dont stress. Dont worry im poor and only use wifi too. I have 4 kids and disabled son, health problems, etc so i feel your pain. We will get thru this together in time. To attach screenshot hit the quote button under my post and then reply. Normal reply wont do it. Then below where u write u will see attachment options and can select from gallery the pic. Then hit upload and close that window. Then send message. I got your back

I am on a PC and do not see a quote button under your post nor have a "gallery" on my PC ... sheesh ... constant problems which are small but add up over months to the loss of the wish to go on living sometimes ...
One would think it should NOT be impossible to drag and drop or otherwise choose a photo on your PC to post in the forums here without having it posted on a website somewhere and having to supply a URL!
It is after midnight AGAIN here and NOTHING accomplished in my life today including eating or bathing or sleeping all because of this ******* phone and GOOGLE!
I cannot be the only one with such a problem in the world and I cannot believe that it has TOTALLY ruined over a month of my life to have uninstalled Google Play from my phone!
*whimper*

Oops i forgot u were on computer. Yeah gallery only on phone.
I always attach screenshots on my phone since thats where i take pics so i didnt know it was different on computer. Dropbox is probably easiest to use if u need url. Until u get everything set up this will be frustrating but then it will be awesome! Tomorrow we will try to get into ur recovery and if its not good enough then i will help u flash custom recovery and things will get easier. Then we will get ur google apps back no worries. U will not have problem like this again because we will back up ur phone properly and if mistakes are made after that it will be able to be restored the same day. Talk to u soon
