what is the fastest ROM for my defy? - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

what ROM is the fastest and stable in games for my defy?
Cm7? Miui? wich version?
my defy: 1Ghz chipset + RED lens camera + 1530mah battery = they changed my chipset and camera at warranty...

I found MIUI a bit slower than CM7...
CM7 is for sure the fastest and most stable... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033654
you can try the WhiteRabbit build as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510063

I also recomend you WIUI stable or the latest one. Is fast enough, much more than standard MIUI.

I think
hi,
i you are only crazy about games then go for CM7 and if you want a lot of customizations on your defy and go for MIUI 2.4.13/WIUI latest version for Defy.
Thanks

In my experience, MIUI Pikachu Edition was faster than WIUI GB.
Still, I think the fastest are CM7 KANG's by FuZZ But not a big difference between them and Pikachu.

Rom's For Defy
Im also having defy....
I have used many roms....
Deiffrent roms containt different variety or features.....
In my opinion....
Pikachu Rom - Fastest rom i have ever seen, it has aroma installer, v6 supercharger:victory:
(link) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498843
CM9 fast edition - based on ICS 4.04,much stable and fast....(note) - it is for red lens and defy plus only, because in green lense your camera will not work.....It also has Aroma installer......
(link) http://www.grupoandroid.com/topic/45682-ics-404-cm9-fast-edition-v50-new-age-1705/
CM 9 Moto Ice Gun - Stable and good....but not so much faster.....
(link) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1781658
CM 10 - This rom contains Some awesome features.....its really good and my favorite.....But not stable yet......work in progress....There are 2 devs who are developing CM 10 bases rom Epsylon3 And Quarx.....since Epsylon is busy with Galaxy R, you should go for quarx build........
(link) http://www.longren.org/cyanogendefy/
Thank You.....

CM7 is only good for certain games, like Skies of Glory. It's not the fastest ROM.
MIUI and WIUI aren't fast in any way. I don't know what you're talking about.
CM9 is slow, but Moto Ice Gun and Defy+++ are all very fast. They are based off of Quarx's
CM9 builds and have V6 supercharger and kickass kernelizer. I have no idea if Bravia Engine is just
a placebo effect or not.
CM10 is fastest for games, but doesn't mean that all games are compatible with it. Regular performance
isn't that great.
Stock froyo and GB are good for games, surprisingly. try CEE Deblur 3.4.2-179 or 4.5.1-134 DFP 231

FuZZ's CM7 builds are indeed really fast. I'm impressed!

I have done a speed comparison of various ROMs for the Defy and posted in the German Android forums, you guys might be interested int that.
Google for "Benchmark verschiedener ROMs für das Defy", because I am new here I am not allow to post links yet (argh).

Does Fuzz do any CM9/10 builds? I'm new to the device so I don't know all of the devs yet. His CM7 isreally good and I wonder if he has recent newer builds to try.

He use to do CM9 KANG's, but then stopped as Gingerbread was his choice and his priority and he couldn't keep up maintaining both CM7 and CM9 kangs for both DEFY and DEFY+... He might jump back to that, though... As you might have assumed already, his CM9 KANG's were the fastest CM9 builds at the time, yeah

It seems that you are only talking about gaming performance, so I don't get the point of your question.
Why I said that Pikachu MIUI was the fastest ever for me - no redraws of anything at anytime, instant start of any app, multitasking at its best (music playing in the background, playing a HD game, while switching to messaging and then back to the game without it reloading)... Stuff like that. I was really truly happy with my phone at that time, it looked awesome and worked great. Then ICS and JB showed up and now I just can't live without all those tiny new features :/ I miss Pikachu, nevertheless.

Thank you very much for the info!

The most stable rom and pretty fast out there is MS2Ginger 4.0
It even includes 720p video rec!

Suggesting a good rom for Defy
Most of the best roms have come out of either Epsylon3 or Quarx... so they are the best developers... Apart from their good roms..
If you want GB - WIUI GB (v2.5.27)is the best according to me, great looks, customization, smooth... (based on MIUI) by Wajk
if you want ICS - JIUI4 / WIUI 4 equally good for reasons same as above... by Janeindiran / Wajk... Also try Moto Ice Gun(stopped updates??) / Paranoid Android ICS... by Brajesh Sharma...
if you want JB - I would suggest Paranoid Android... the latest version i guess... I am on version 1.992 downloading the 2.0 version... pretty neat i must say.... by Brajesh Sharma...
Having said that, you will need to explore and find which one suits you the most...

fastest and best looking rom i have ever used on the defy is the white rabbit. based on cm7 kang but it has the go launcher installed by default so it looks very cool and there are loads of free themes available in the market so you can customise it so it is exactly how you want it. it also has a few nice extra apps installed that help with keeping the rom up to date. honestly i have been blown away and have had no force closes or issues. it is also very quick and everything just feels pretty damn snappy with most apps opening in a second or less.
i would avoid cm10. i tried it and is was a lag fest. dont get me wrong it looked great and for a port it is very impressive but it is slow with apps taking an age to open even after i had disabled virtually every app from the hwa settings. bottom line is the defy is old and the hardware was far from high end even when it was released so we cant expect miracles.
anyways that is my experience and others may have found cm10 to be perfectly useable. i didnt though and therefore cant recommend it. try the white rabbit... whats the worst that can happen... you dont like it and have to try something else... so what 5 minutes of your time maybe ten at a push.

Try Mokee last version

cm9
I never installed a lot of roms for Defy, but i tried this CM9:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432100
and is pretty fast and stable, everything works fine.
but i will try some of roms posted here and give my feedback

Thanks, I'm going to try out white rabbit.

Most stable Desire Z ROM?

Hi
Currently Im on Cyanogenmod 7.2.0 RC1 nightly 414 and while OK, the other day it had a HORRIBLE (unbearable) slowdown period. Even multiple restarts didnt help. Finally it seems it fixed itself but Ive looking for something new. I use Go Launcher if that makes any difference. Im into speed but I think Im going to go with stable over speed this time.
What ROM do you recommend? Also nothing broken (automatically discards all CM9 ROMs)
If you are into Sense UI, go for Virtuous ROM, stock ROM tweaked + enhancements. If CM7 works if you are into vanilla ROMs.
I have been using virtuous glite 2.0.1 its stable I had no issues at all and I get great battery life, plus its slightly overclocked. Gslim1.6 is also very good but I had better battery life with glite. Both roms are based on GB 2.3.4. Here is a good rom index thread it lists all G2-Desire Z roms

Yes, Im aware of the list but I wanted user feedback.
(Im not talking to any of you or anyone else Dont take this the wrong way at all as it is not a insult to any of you). Its funny: People ***** (a lot) when their ROMs go bad but when they are great, they dont say anything at all.
WOW G-lite is VERY old...
and i like ROMs with features; stripped down versions are not for me
sound like you will be most happy with elitemod, the cm7 based rom although i have been testing out nik3r's ics rom and like it better than most ics roms, i would go with his gingerbread rom. should be all you are looking for and great support from nik3r as well

Damn I'm still happily running it! If it works great why worry how old it is. It's a testament to how well it works as it sits. anyways I'm waiting for a stable cyanogen 9. Then maybe, frankly I don't want to mess with it too much I want plain Android and I can customize it from there

I don't think you have tried much of the Sense ROMs back then, or maybe you were doing something wrong. I have had quite a few stable and fast sense ROMs. Of course they were not as fast as vanilla ones, but it works, knowing that you are the type who wants more features in ROMs.

Have you tried a CM9 Rom lately? Don't let the Beta name scare you, I have found the latest andromadus audacity extremely reliable, and everything works. I actually think it has less bugs then my stock htc GB rom.

Same, though I'm still tweaking my SetCPU settings and such, I like EliteMod's ICS rom the most right now particularly in terms of features and responsiveness. I was trying the unofficial CM9beta13 for a couple days and that thing was eating battery like no-body's business. EliteMod seems to be much more tweaked as it's the same setup Nik3r is using for his own personal Desire-Z.
But far as stability goes, I would agree that going with a Ginger rom would be the best bet, ICS right now is still too experimental in my opinion.
I've never tried the CM7 version of EliteMod, only the official CM 7.2.0 which was ok-ish for me. The EliteMod ICS Rom to me feels much faster and responsive than even the stock CM7rom, and I much prefer QuickPix app the EliteMod uses over that slow-arse Gallery app in CM7.
I would recommend andromadus mimicry (ics) its pretty stable and everything works (for me at least). It has the ics specific flaws like scrambled text in app drawer but launcher restart fixes it. Using this rom for 2 weeks and had this text issue 1 time. Battery is good also
Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk 2
You should try Elitemod cm7 it has never failed me, all the features you need, speed and stabiity plus amaizing battery life. If you wanna go ICS get the cm9 elitemod, but it is still a bit buggy.
I tried a lot of roms, and I always came back to ILWT CM7 (not new versions). Sense roms are quite good but not on Desire Z (too small amount of ram memory, multitasking on sense roms are poor - even on sense 2.1 roms with supercharger script). I waiting for stable CM9 (and yes i tried all versions of CM9 but text glitches and manually change apn to send/receives mms, makes me nervous).
That is only my subjective opinion
Anything CM7 based is very stable. Probably the most stable of all. Stay away from CM9 or anything ICS on this phone for another few months in terms of stability.

Going to install the Beta14 right now, the ALPHA 1 month ago had a lot of issues... but that was 1 month ago. Will post back...
Try Quadrasense! Not true that rom based on CM9 is not stable....
Quadrasense is very fast and stable
inviato da HTC Desire Z
For most stable overall rom I would recommend the latest ILWT CM7. For most stable ICS rom I would recommend the Andromadus Mimicry rom.

[Q] CM10 is it worth to install?

Hello,
I want to ask you just like it's mentioned in the thread title, is CM10 worth to install right now? Are the differences big between CM9 and CM10?
I am currently on CM9 latest nightly from Epsylon. And whose CM10 is better for now? Epsylon's or Quarx's?
Thanks in advance for answering...
Hi there,
Yes the current CM10 is quite stable and very usable.
The biggest attraction to CM10 is how smooth it is over the current CM9 - Installing Apex Launcher makes it even better.
The new features that were introduced as part of JB are all there and functioning .. eg. two finger swipe and Project Butter.
The JB default browser is the best and responsive browser I have ever used .. flick-scrolls through heavy pages effortlessly ..
I am using the Froyo based build right now though I have a Red lens defy.
Personally I couldnt last on CM9 for more than a day before switching back to MIUI ..
but now i'm hooked on the CM10 and even the dev are focussing all their attention on it..
in short -- most definitely worth the Install
About JB - Only basic things are functioning properly. But, if you ask me, i am using it as my daily ROM, as i use my defy as a phone
About ICS - Its almost fully functional, you won't feel like changing ROM after using it.
Thanks a lot guys. Downloading CM10 then...
I will wait a few more weeks so it's more stable. Satisfied with CM9 right now. (I'm always using Quarx' builds, Defy+)
title
i am using it as my daily ROM,it's developing very fast, but not stable as cm9
Yeah, it's not so stable as CM9, and honestly, not so fast. Epsylon's CM9 was really really fast. CM10 is in my opinion something biggest which our phone can't hold on.
After installing all my applications which I am using there is only about 50MB free ram. After one day of using there is even less and phone needs to be restarted because of hard lags in launcher.
I am going back to CM9, differences are not so big. But I'll miss the notification bar.

[Q] Defy ROM's

Hi, to be honest, my Defy+ isn't rooted, but at some point of this year (or next by sure) I will, and I will install a ROM in a really short period, so, i want your recomendation, what ROM should i choose? I don't want any theme or nothing, i'm choosing: CM7, CM9 or CM10, CM10 by that time will be improved, so it's practically CM7 or CM10, it's obvious that CM10 is better (JellyBean, duh ), but from what i heard, it uses a lot of RAM and performance is "Good-Meh" so I don't know if go to CM10 for JellyBean, CM7 for performance and gaming or multiboot both... (Answer me like if I were rooted, I want to do it but... I will see if I hurry me)
Sorry for bad english

I will go for CM 7.2, the last stable build works very smooth, opening apps, scrolling, etc, you must flash a camera fix for this build, replacing the Camera.apk and the overlay.omap3.so.
For sure the CM10 is a attractive choice, but in my opinion isn't more smooth than CM 7.2 yet, you have some features in Jelly Bean like Google Now, and some UI improvements, for example in the notification bar, where you can read messages, call contacts, etc, the called Project Butter, and more, so if you are a smooth paranoic i recommend CM 7.2, if not, give CM 10 a chance!

the best rom for daily use is Ms2ginger 4.0 ...... stable , fast , has the best battery back up , high quadrant , 720p and paronama .
After testing several roms on my phone (and friends defys :silly "close stock" roms works better
Thanks :highfive: maybe I will try them three (Ms2ginger, CM7 and CM10) because id I flash one my "fear" of flashing will be gone and that way I can compare, but I think that for stable at least in a period of time will be Cm7 OR Ms2ginger, i will wait for  Master Quarx  to fix a couple of bugs before staying in CM10.

defy + choosing rom

Hi there, I'm new to the defy+ scene (not the android scene though) and after browsing for a while through the defy android development section I couldn't really tell which are the main-most popular custom roms for the DEFY+ (plus) ICS or JB versions (no GB) also AOKP/AOSP.
I'm looking for a rom that is very stable smooth (not necessarily the most powerful-fastest) and has good battery life.
Could anyone please help me out listing the pro & cons of the most popular custom rom for defy+ (like MS2Ginger, MIUI, CM9, aokp aosp..this list is by no means complete, so in case i'm missing some others, please let me know) thank you very much and sorry for the noobish request :silly:

This question has been asked so many times :silly:
Just take your time and search this forum. For example look here
I'm using myself this ROM. Different people, different wishes
My advice: download and try some of these ROMs and if you don't like it, try another one
in first place, a topic like this sounds like fishing for me...:cyclops:
mate, try miui v4 by stefan brown.
i've tryed many others roms before, and for sure this is the most stable, fast and trustable one so far.
i've tryed CMX for a while, but it lags a lot and still got random reboots.
Thanks guys for the suggestions, and what about CM9 ICS for defy+?
If you want speed, good battery life and true android experience ,you must try [CM10] Jelly Bean Cannon v8.1.1 .
And if you like MIUI style , there is Moto Ice Gun Edition V2.02 (CM10). But its not updated frequently ..thats the only disappointment
Then there is [ICS] CM9.1 Android 4.0.4 by Epsylon3 ..which is being reported by its users as most stable ics rom ..although i have never used it :silly:
But as far as my experience goes, the most logical thing right now is to stick with CM7.2 because cm9 and cm10 uses a lot of RAM , and no matter how much you tweak it , it will be the same (laggy, low battery life, slow app switching rate).
And the most stable and performance based rom according to me is [CM7] WhiteRabbitNextGen Edition 2.1.1..i myself am using it right now...its best for games which tend to lag a lot in cm9/10...temple run2 plays without any lag...and we can switch app to app instantly...try it and u'll never turn to any other rom

Best firmware for the average joe?

Hi there, I have a Defy and have been into flashing and CFWs for a long time. I love custom ROMs and stuff, and don't mind dealing with bugs or features missing to have an updated Android version on my phone. Question is, a friend of mine, who has a Defy+, wants to revamp her phone. She says it's buggy, sluggish and stuff on her 2.3 stock. So, I'd like to know you guys' opinion on the best ROM for "usual people"? I've been thinking of installing CM9 on her phone, since it gives all 4.x goodies without the cost of having Google Now eating up our phone's CPU and RAM (that's what has been happening with mine on CM10.1), and MS2Ginger might be a good option, too, but I think she won't be happy with a 2.3 ROM, since she wants to get rid of Gingerbread. Anyway, I'd like to hear your suggestions.
Thanks in advance
CM9 the way to go
I would have said CM7.2 or MS2ginger, but I didn't read the post fully:laugh:
Yes, I would recommend CM9/9.1, which is stable enough for daily use by an average joe. Everythings working fine (except maybe Wi-Fi tethering). But which dev's build, that's upto you.

Yeah, I'm divided exactly between MS2Ginger or CM9. I think MS2Ginger is stable, fast and offers nice features (like 720p recording), but 2.3 is jut too outdated by now (plus, my friend has a Defy+ and wants something better than stock GB, and I think putting even a highly customized GB on her phone will give a reverse-placebo effect: she'll ignore most of the performance improvements because the Android version is the same). CM9 seems to be OK, though, but i'll have to check on this "different devs" issue (I didn't even remember this issue existed, I've had Quarx's CM10/10.1 in my Defy for a loooong time now, since all features were useable).
Actually Epsylon's and Quarx's CM9 builds are almost the same, though it seems Epsylon stopped developing for the defy.
Epsylon added the 2ndboot feature in his CM9
