[Q] Key Mapping Onlive Controller - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I wondered if anyone had had any joy using their onlive controller with standard apps?
It obviously works perfectly with Onlive, and I've also been using it pretty well with N64oid and GBoid. I loaded up Dead Trigger though, and all hell broke loose, and not in the way I wanted it to. It's clear the keys aren't mapped correctly, but I can't see any way of doing it manually, nor can I find any details on the web (although I may be being blind)
If anyone has any info that can help get it sorted to play, or if someone can point me in the right direction, that would be brilliant.
Thanks all.
Matt

Anyone using an emulator (like MAME) to play old video games?

I downloaded MAMECE3 and it works pretty good with a couple of games. I have some old ROM images that seem to work pretty good on the Artemis. I've been playing this old game called Tempest (1982) that has a rotary action and I've been trying to fine-tune the movement of the scroll wheel/Roller-R. The MAME emulator doesn't really have an option for a rotary control, just up, down left right. Anyone know of any other emulators that may work better with the Artemis' Roller-R controller?
Please put me in the correct forum if I'm in the wrong one.

Wii remote for controller?

I was thinking of an easier way to play games on my titan/mogul. So i thought hey, the wii remote uses blue tooth right??
Well, the phone found it, and added it. The first passcode was null. But then it asks for a secure connection from the wiimote to the phone and asks for a passcode, but null and 0000 doesn't work. Any ideas? I doubt it would be that easy to get it to work...
But how about if someone could whip up a program so we can get wiimote functionality onto the ppc platform? Wouldn't that be cool? At least better than using the keyboard for games.
Let me know what you guys think.
Did you try no passkey? Apparently from what I have read the WII does not require a passkey, to get it working in Windows you just click skip pairing, not sure if that is an option on WM5 or 6. It should be identified as an HID and I am not sure if you need drivers or not, from what I read it will work in Windows as a mouse or as a controller with drivers that others have made. Hope that helps.
Good idea!!
I'll try to see if I can't get this to work when I get home tonight.
yep i did!
From the phone, i started searching for a new device
on the wii controller, i pressed the sync button
the phone finds the "Nintendo RVL-CNT-01 "
I select it to add as a wireless input device and it asks for a passcode, i leave it blank and hit ok
The phone then says nintendo rvl-cnt-01 is trying to connect, allow? and i click yes and it asks for a passcode
And that's as far as i can get. I am wondering if the drivers on PCs are to connect it, or allow to function as whatever. I am guessing whatever because bt should connect regardless of driver support, no?
Anyhow, let me know what else you guys think we can do.
thanks for your input

This thread has the announcement of the project. It is real, but it apparently wont surface until June.
*Edit* Whoa, apparently that post was last year. So......Maybe it IS dead lol.
Another post about it:

After looking at the project page, I saw this post:

The developer has released it to the public so the source is all there. I would mess around with it if I had more experience. I'm very interested in this though. All I want is to be able to use my wiimote to play ppc games/emulators. I don't need motion controls. Just button mapping and that's it. There's gotta be somebody out there that can figure this out.
anyone have any news on this front?
So any update on this? I tried to get the Wiimote with my laptop, but it still wouldn't work. I'd love to get it on my Tilt.

Xperia as remote Keyboard & Touchpad for PC?

Hi all,
I just had an idea: I was wondering, if it is possible to connect the X1 either by bluetooth, WLAN or USB to the PC and use the X1 keyboard as a keyboard for the PC.
I was also thinking, that the touchscreen could be used as a kind of touchpad (like on notebooks) to control the mouse pointer on a connected PC.
So I was searching the Internet if anybody wrote a software that can just do this, but had no luck. So my question is: Does anybody know a software that can just do this?
Cheers,
foo
P.S.: I know there are some remote controls for winamp & co but this is not what I'm looking for. Actually I'd like to have something like this for a much more smaller amount of money by using my xperia and a special software.

There's something on this very forum for a VERY small amount of money - all you have to do is learn how to search and it's yours. I'll even give you a clue - it' in the "Development & Hacking" section.
Go here http://t2remotetouch.blogspot.com
Is there a thing like that that use bluetooth only? like a usual bluetooth keyboard or mouse.
like that: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/features/bluetooth.mspx
Thanks kostis60, this goes in the right direction, though it lacks the touchpad feature which I'd need really badly. This app is more like "Windows Remote Desktop" or VNC.

nueUSBkeyboard is what I use - nt bothered about track pad - I think there is something that works with this but not sure of name.
And there's a paid for prg that works over bluetooth aswell but again its name slips my mind
Check out Pebbles. It allows controlling of the PC via Touchpad and Keyboard (Hard- and Softwarekeyboard). It is for free and works via Bluetooth and Wifi.
Nice Gadget but a wireless mouse and keyboard is more convenient from my perspective.
You could also use MS Remote Desktop Client to atke remote control of your PC.
Also LogMeIn works even better.
I think he is more looking for software to make the device a mouse/keyboard, not remote desktop software. These are two very different things. +1 for nueUSBkeyboard though.
Mobileremote by mobilesrc is what you are looking for.
Works like a charm for me.

MobileSRC MobileRemote Xperia Issues
Okay, is it just me or is anybody else having the following issue with the Xperia keyboard when using MobileSRC MobileRemote..?
When I use the keyboard all of the 'Blue' characters are displayed rather than the letters. The only button that also has a 'Blue' character assigned to it which works correctly is 'Q'.
The buttons without 'Blue' characters (A, S, D, F, G, @, Z, X, C, V, RETURN, TAB, DEL) work fine.
'W' gives me ", 'E' gives me /, 'R' gives me & and so on.
Shift doesn't work either.
I've tried pressing the blue button, Sym and everything else but no change.
Any ideas?
Regards
Sonny

I have the same issue, but the developer announced a new bugfix release in the next couple of weeks also including some bugfixes for hardware keyboards.
I had tried this application before. At that time, it didn't yet work well with the X1. Now, however, it's getting really close to being fully functional.. nice!
Current issues I find annoying:
- HW keyboard support (always in FN mode)
- Touchpad can't go fullscreen (except for LMB and RMB ofc)
- Connecting it is a bit awkward (though should be full auto in retail version)
I'll soon be buying a media center with my TV. I'm hoping I can get my X1 to be the HID. Little more fixes and this app will do all I need.

I bought the application and connecting works like a charm.
As I need the touchpad functionality most of the time, I bought it even with the keyboard problem - still worth the money for me
In case I have to enter something, I switch to the software keyboard.
try this
sailing clicker -
does exactly what you ask...with extra media player functions etc.

Aye, I'll be waiting for a proper release, might buy it then.

Onlive app.

Has anyone tried Onlive app from market place yet on the Streak?
I was able to download the app and started a trial game but not sure how to use it without a keyboard. Any ideas.
Cheers,
David.

There are only so many supported touch screen games...
Look for the finger (next to the pad or keyboard),
This means it has touch controls.
They are bringing out a bluetooth controller for it which will work with all games (due before christmas)
Thanks for that. Will a normal bluetooth keyboard work?
Not sure m8.

Dosbox Turbo - Mapping Triggers and Thumbsticks

Hi all,
This thread probably won't get much traction, but I'm pretty sure the developer for DosTurbo isn't very active anymore.
There are really two separate issues here:
1) The analog triggers are not mappable. The in-app mapper does not register them at all. I dug around quite a bit on this, and if I'm not mistaken, DosBox Turbo is really just an android port of Dosbox with some added features. Dosbox itself has it OWN mapper. Has anyone had success getting the triggers to work?
2) The thumbsticks. Now I don't know why the developer restricted the mapping here, but here are the options:
a) map a thumbstick to keyboard keys (like up, down, left, right)
b) map one thumbstick to mouse control, the other to "joystick"
You can only pick either a or b. No combination of both allowed. The problem with this is that I want one thumbstick to map to up, down, left, right and the other to map to the mouse control. You'd think (b) would work, but games without joystick support do not recognize the "joystick" so I'm stuck using the d-pad if I want mouse control on the thumbstick.
FYI, I'm trying to setup the controls of a modern shooter with Duke Nukem 3D. I am very close. The dpad control movements, the right thumbstick controls mouselook, triggers do nothing. I just want the left thumbstick to work like the dpad, and the triggers to work.
If anyone has any advice, please let me know. Like so much in the Android emulation world, things get so very close to perfect without ever reaching it.

That was actually the first emulator I tried for Dos (free version). I found it confusing because at the time I knew nothing about Dosbox. Anyway, last night I bought the full version and yes, the controller mapping is 100% compatible with the Shield Controller. Thanks!
Also it seems the developer for Magic DosBox is active, unlike all the other Dosbox ports. The UI is kind of weird... perhaps that's why I was so confused. Runecrafting and all these other references to fantasy RPGs is an unnecessary layer to the learning curve. That said, the help documentation inside the app itself is quite good.
Actually im interested as well.. can you make make a small guide, link or something for this?
I only found things in russian..
