Can't fix 1st HTC Boot Screen - Desire HD General

Hi guys I kinda stuck here.
I tried to Unlock and flash my HTC Desire HD but I think something went really wrong.
Here's my actual status:
I unlocked my Bootloader using HTCDev to flash the 4EXT Recovery
After unlocking in I tried the Ace Advanced Hack Kit (also with a re-locked Bootloader as suggested on the webpage) but it never worked
for some reasons all the PD98IMG.zip seem not to be applied on my device, they get parsed by the HBOOT but I never get a "Install?" question
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.00.0029
RADIO-26.14.04.28_M
4EXT Recovery is installed and I can access it
I think I have no ROM installed, atleast I can't access the system
I tried to instal several ROMs (like Sabsa Prime, Nik Project X and Android Revolution HD)
I also tried to "flash back" a original RUU using fastboot mode (booted in fastboot, started RUU.exe), the process starts but it aborts at ~20%
I also tried the fullwipe scripts (as I learned that most of the roms expect a 4ext system)
I'm really out of ideas how to get back on ANY rom.

maybe u can refer to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30020025&postcount=7
edit: ur phone is S-ON so must flash boot.img on fastboot...use the guide that i provided

I guess you're pointing to the
"Flashing a custom Rom with HTCDEV" part in the guide?

OK man. You helped me out, it worked. Thanks!

no problem...hope it helps and dont forget to thanks the author of the guide...

Clockworkmod does not work!!!

I'm really at a stage now where i wanna just throw my htc desire hd at the wall!!!! I am trying to just install a custom firmware, not much to ask considering the mammoth amount of hacking you have to do to even downgrade the firmware. I have done absolutley everything that needs to be done to root this device, i have downgraded the firmware i have rooted it, switched off eng s-off and radio s-off i have full root acess with terminal emulator, i put the update zip on the sd card it says something about installation invalid thats because first time i did not disable radio s-off then it went slightly further but then said some other error i have tried everything, i tried rom manager and selected reboot in recovery mode but now it just makes the phone freeze on the htc boot screen when selecting recovery from the boot menu, can someone please please help, how hard can it be just to install coredroids firmware, why can't it just be as easy as the pd98img firmware
help much apprieciated
clockworkmod recovery works fine. Something has just gone wrong with your installation.
To avoid complications later on, you haven't "switched off ENG S_OFF" you've made made S-ON S-OFF and added ENG S-OFF.
You talk about update.zip, is this for a ROM (CoreDroid?)? Which ROM? Did it tell you to rename it to update.zip? If a ROM then it had nothing to do with Radio S-OFF as you only need that for flashing radio.img files and if it was a radio you were trying to push you should use fastboot not recovery. Are you using the right version of recovery (it's very specific about the version required)?
When everything has been installed correctly and instructions followed it is VERY easy to install coredroid's ROM.
hi thanks for the reply, i just follwed the instructions for installing a custom rom as it asks u to chang it to s-off but the guide also says you need to install the update.zip for clockworkmod to get to choose the custom flash rom you want to use but all i get when i select update.zip from the recovery menu is e:signature verification failed installation aborted
Ok, they don't make it very clear do they?
Have you got ROM Manager installed?
Have you got clockworkmod recovery installed? If so what version is it. If not then use ROM Manager to flash it and flash 2.5.1.3 version (as that what it says).
Get the above. Then let me know.
hi mate its version 4.2.0.2 if i select flash clockworkmod recovery it completly causes the recovery menu in bootloader to just hang on the htc startup screen

Sorry, I meant recovery version but it looks like you still need to do that.
In that case push the recovery.img file (grab from the Coredroid thread) using fastboot.
Normally issues are because people miss things but you've confirmed you have ENG S-OFF, Radio S-OFF and root.
ok i tried running this image file in fastboot from this thread http://android.modaco.com/content/z...led-tft-30-nov-2-5-1-3-clockworkmod-recovery/
its written ok but when i select recovery from bootloader it just hangs on the htc startup screen grrr this is just impossible.
That's not for the desire HD.
Grab a 3.x.x.x version from clockwork 3.0.2.8 thread and try that (you can downgrade easily once we got something working).

Downgrade to HBOOT from 1.02.0000 to 0.52.0000

Hi, everyone who have been waiting for a way to downgrade their HBOOT so that they can get S-OFF, cause they upgraded to the Official RUU Rom... I think I found a solution for you!
Also give you permanent ClockWork Recovery!
I haven't test it on any other Slide, cause I have only one. So, sorry if it didn't work for you.
Here is what I did, in case you're wondering, I downloaded the Official RUU from HTC Support website, extracted the 'rom.zip' file from Windows Temp folder that it creates, replaced the newer 1.02 HBOOT with 0.52 HBOOT, that I got from 'ESPRIMG.zip' (the Stock rom).
And also replaced the recovery.img with ClockWork Recovery img file.
Then I just renamed the 'rom.zip' file to 'ESPRIMG.zip'
Put it in the root of my memory card, powered off, rebooted into BOOTLOADER, and it detected the file and asked me if I wanted to update, I chose YES, and it went on without a hitch. Next thing I knew, I had 0.52.0000 HBOOT, with permanent ClockWork Recovery(so I dont have to use 'update.zip' anymore), and also the Official Latest 2.15.531.3 unmodified rom, (I like stock Espresso, that's why I bought it ) but you will LOSE ROOT but SuperOneClick method works for me to gain root - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Method:
1. Download this 'ESPRIMG.zip' file - http://www.mediafire.com/file/cuemg74en7kk0a3/ESPRIMG.zip
2. copy/paste it to your memory card, in the root, not on any folder.
3. Make sure your card formatted to FAT32 file system, or it won't detect it.
4. Do a Nandroid BACKUP, if you can, cause I don't know if this will work for you. But it will wipe all your data and setting. SO BACKUP!
5. First you need to wipe data and factory setting, and wipe cache and wipe davlik cache (Otherwise it bootlooped for me). So boot into recovery first!
You can do that by going into BOOTLOADER first then selecting Recovery ( for that remove memory card from mobile or else it will start update) or if you have ROM Manager then you can use that to reboot into Recovery, any recovery will do stock or clockwork.
6. Ok, so after Wiping from recovery. PULL battery, then insert back the memory card with ESPRIMG.zip file on it. Reboot into BOOTLOADER, and apply the update.
It should do a reboot automatically to downgrade the HBOOT.
You will see the change if it worked. After applying the update, reboot phone normally.
And if all done correctly, you should have 0.52.0000 HBOOT, and also a permanent ClockWork Recovery. Now you can root by using SuperOneClick method. And also get S-OFF (I didn't need it, cause I have permanent S-OFF! , at least that's how I explain it)
Im guessing it worked for me because I have a factory unlocked S-OFF HBOOT from HTC. Because, to try this out first, I updated my phone via the OFFICIAL RUU from HTC Support Website and it showed S-OFF on my 1.02.0000 HBOOT.
Then I tried this method and it did downgrade my HBOOT and I still had S-OFF without doing the AlphaREV method.
So I guess I have a kind of permanent S-OFF??! :S :?
Hit thanks if it helped.
I am no developer but I am learning
Any feedback would be appreciated.
And yes, my major is CS and I LOVE IT!
any one test this yet?
If i try this and it does not downgrade my HBOOT will my phone be bricked? Will I lose root? I would love to try, but would like a little certainty.....

I don't think that you phone will be bricked, it would just not downgrade it but the HBOOT will remain. Yes you will lose root, but that can be gained easily by SuperOneClick Root Method.
I not certain myself about the brick. Flash at your own risk.

Did it work?
has this worked for anyone?
I'll be trying it once the download finishes for me. I'll update you guys on whether or not it worked for me.
I'm using a full stock phone btw, factory reset and blank sdcard as well. Hopefully this works for me.
UPDATE:
Looks like this was a dud.
I applied the update 3 times to my phone, but my Hboot still didn't downgrade. It's still on 1.02.0000. Also didn't flash the permanent Clockwork Recovery that we were hoping for either.
I'm guessing your permanent s-off is what let you use this successfully. So for anyone who has S-OFF already this would probably work fine.
On the plus side, it didn't brick me =)

Well thanks for the feedback, yes I think its the permanent S-OFF too. So does that mean I have a phone that was permanently UNLOCK my T-mobile or HTC it self for testing purposes? Is there some way to use this to unlock that 1.02.0000 HBOOT?
any updates on how to downgrade?
i need to downgrade my Espresso, i have the latest official t-mobile update.
i have already followed instructions very carefully missing no details.
i have searched everywhere and tried everything. thank you.

Another s-off question

Hi about 10 months ago I rooted my Wildfire with no problems using Turkeys ultimate guide from these forums.
I have got apps to sd, live wallpapers running, and all is good. However my phone is still S-on and the H Boot version is 0.80.0002.
When I was playing around with the settings in SetCPU it informed me that the binary was out of date and to update it, but when i tried it would not update as the phone is still S-on.
My question is can I S-off using Revolutionary as it is already rooted? Obviously I will back up using clockworkmod, but if I s-off the phone are there any obvious advantages apart from being able to update the binary in SetCPU?
Thanks
Are you talking about an outdated Superuser Binary? If so, you can download the latest binary here:
http://tinyurl.com/63tsg9c
And simply flash it in Clockworkmod Recovery. This will give you the updated binary and SetCPU should work fine again.
If you have to get S-OFF, then, you will have to apply the official Froyo RUU and update your HBoot to 1.01.0001 because Revolutionary doesn't support any other HBoots, including 0.80.x. Advantages include a writeable /system partition (Which enables you copy paste stuff in the /system folder on a running handset, one case in point is precisely what you described. This will allow updating of the binary), and the other advantage is enabling of Fastboot commands, which allows you to flash stuff like radio's, recoveries, nandroid backups etc directly to the phone without using Clockworkmod Recovery.
Tl;dr - You will have to completely format your device, install official Froyo, and only then can you obtain S-OFF
And simply flash it in Clockworkmod Recovery.
When you say simply flash it in Clockworkmod recovery, what do you mean? And when you say apply the official Froyo RUU and update the HBoot how can I do that as I am running Wildpuzzle ROM at the moment and it says there are no updates available, so can you explain in simple terms what steps to take?
Thanks
Flash in Clockworkmod Recovery - Same way as you installed your WildPuzzle ROM ZIP file. Turn off phone, start using Vol Down + Power, then navigate to RECOVERY, Press Power Button. Here, select "Install Zip from SDCard", then browse to "Select Zip from SDCard", and select the Zip file I linked above.
This entire process is called "flashing".
If you are still interested in getting S-OFF:
- Download the EXE WWE Froyo 2.22.405.1 RUU from here:
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Buzz
- Connect your Wildfire to your PC, run it. It will automatically proceed and perform the required steps.
- If you get s Customer ID 131, you will need to create a Goldcard using your SDCard. This an be done using GoldcardTool. The required steps and download can be found here:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/308798-pc-application-goldcardtool/
IMO, I would not recommend you to go for S-OFF since it doesn't seem you are too much inclined to stuff like these (It is not a necessity. Besides, once /system is writeable, it is a two edged sword. Messing something up there will likely cause your phone to not boot). Further, it breaks certain functions on Sense ROMs which needs an additional fix found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156713
hey man, you could also try the test version of unrevoked 3.2 and run that to s off your phone. it works on your h-boot ( i know as i have the same)
since i am new the forum wont let me post the link, its to sstop spamming :/ just search for unrevoked test 3.2 ( it has to be test 3.2 because the others wont work on the hboot to my knowlege. :/)
just download the program and run it and it should do it with no hassle.
good luck

That's totally incorrect. Rooting with Unrevoked =/= S-OFF. Besides, on the very first line the OP says he has rooted his phone using Unrevoked.
ah, sorry about that i was looking at unrevoked forever :/ just ignore me ........

[Q] I made silly mistake I know, but please help(if there's any hope)

I have a MT4G in which I unlocked the bootloader and tried to flash a custom ROM. Prior to that I did my level best to attain root by the available methods but could not achieve s-off. However the unlocked bootloader would not allow the custom ROM to boot and in my stupidity I did not make a nandroid before flashing. I am now stuck at the myTouch logo and thats it.
I tried to flash the stock roms but I keep getting mainver is older; update fail. I tried the 1.17.531.2 and the 2.19.531.1 but they both give me the same thing. Am I screwed or is there any hope for my phone?

Did you use htc dev to unlock it? Relock it and follow the steps in the dev section. So you can go into bootloader? Push PD[whatever].img and the bootloader will detect it
I did relock it but it keeps giving me the mainver is older message and saying that update failed.
Solved! Thanks
finally i was able to find the right .img and flash that through fastboot and got a working phone again! thank you for your help!
Its such a horrible feeling when you are trying to get S-OFF and get stuck with a bootloop. I'm glad you figured it out.
You can flash any custom Rom, but before you do, unzip the Rom , and place the "boot.img" from the custom Rom, in your adb/fastboot folder, and flash it like you did to get it working again. I did it for awhile until I decided to relock & root properly.
**by the way..I hate the topic title! You are not stupid..you just made a MINOR mistake, which is the best tool you can use to learn by! I know how it is to be impatient, & just jump in and start flashing and not reading in advance. But its no biggie..

now if i have relocked the bootloader can i unlock it again? What wuld the command to flash be? fastboot flash ???? boot.img?
If you have relocked it, there is a guide, just do a search for it, or I will in a lil bit, I'm in a meeting. But basically just go to the wiki section & follow the downgrade guide...then the Ultimate s-off guide. But make sure you have the files that are in the links within the guides b4 you start, put them in the proper place (adb/fastboot folder)

Stuck at splash screen!

So this is my old phone and my friend tried to root it about a year ago and now it only gets stuck on the splash screen! I can get into hboot and flash boot mode but that's all I know how to do.
I have a Droid Razr and I've rooted and flashed it so I know about the process' but not for the MyTouch.
I've seen it makes a difference if I'm 32a or 32b so for reference I'm 32b. I'd just like to hopefully get it un-softbricked. And preferably without having to connect to a computer, but if need be I will ( I don't have a USB for this phone, but I can manage the micro-SD with my Razr.
Please help!!!

Well my boy since u said it flashed sucessfully the rest should now be cake.
I'm aasuming u have the android sdk on your computer with fastboot installed?
The next step now is to flash a new recovery which u already downloaded and how u do that is to put that .img file into your android sdk fastboot directory boot your phone into fastboot mode and open a command prompt in your fastboot directory and type these
Fastboot devices (to make sure its connected)
Fastboot flash recovery "name of your file"
If u have a sucess here u have flashed your new recovery and should be able to boot into it.
The next step now is to flash a new radio
AND THE LAST THING TO DO IS FLASH A SPL THAT CAN WORK WITH YOUR PHONE..
Post your info again the updated info.
