So this is my old phone and my friend tried to root it about a year ago and now it only gets stuck on the splash screen! I can get into hboot and flash boot mode but that's all I know how to do.
I have a Droid Razr and I've rooted and flashed it so I know about the process' but not for the MyTouch.
I've seen it makes a difference if I'm 32a or 32b so for reference I'm 32b. I'd just like to hopefully get it un-softbricked. And preferably without having to connect to a computer, but if need be I will ( I don't have a USB for this phone, but I can manage the micro-SD with my Razr.
Please help!!!

ok so i flashed those two items like u said and my hboot successfully changed...it is now 1.33.2010-----how do i flash the new recovery? this is what i have as far as the file. ive tried booting in hboot and nothing happens. changing to fastboot mode and nothing happens. flashing in recovery requires a zip and this file is an .img file. Im really sorry for all the questions this phone is much more complicated then my Razr and since im not the one who messed the phone up i dont have the slightest clue where to begin,

Well my boy since u said it flashed sucessfully the rest should now be cake.
I'm aasuming u have the android sdk on your computer with fastboot installed?
The next step now is to flash a new recovery which u already downloaded and how u do that is to put that .img file into your android sdk fastboot directory boot your phone into fastboot mode and open a command prompt in your fastboot directory and type these
Fastboot devices (to make sure its connected)
Fastboot flash recovery "name of your file"
If u have a sucess here u have flashed your new recovery and should be able to boot into it.
The next step now is to flash a new radio
AND THE LAST THING TO DO IS FLASH A SPL THAT CAN WORK WITH YOUR PHONE..
Post your info again the updated info.
ALTERNATIVLY TO ALL THAT DOWNLOAD A PROGRAM NAMED FASTBOOT COMMANDER BUT IT NEVER PICKS UP MY PHONE SO I DONT USE IT BUT IT MAKES ALL THAT EASIER...TRY IT

I have successfully flashed the new recovery via the program you recommended. Currently searching for the radio you mentioned and then next would be the SPL. After all that will I have to flash a ROM as well?
Right now my phone info is:

Edit: I have successfully flashed the new radio, updated my phone info to reflect. Currently figuring out the whole SPL thing, then my previous question of the custom ROM still applies lol
Edit #2: Successfully changed SPL i believe, updating phone info to reflect the change. Now im assuming i flash a ROM and i should be set???
Edit #3: I flashed that CronMod ROM you mentioned and when i boot, it sits on splash for like 10 secs and then reboots and its a continious loop. Im assuming that is probably just a bad flash? Im not used to AmonRa recovery. Is CWM still supported??

Do you know of a thread that explains how the perfected SPL is protected?
Like what keeps us from flashing say http://rapidshare.com/files/26747561...010-signed.zip
From CM1.4
aside from following the gold card instructions elsewhere and the link i got, i would like to know what keeps me from flashing another SPL from a rooted phone with a recovery image (i understand i can not fastboot boot recovery.img as in the link)
but what mechanism is in place that would let the step 5 fail once you are past step 3 of getting into a recovery image)
Since the guide is a way to do it on a phone that apparently does not have a recovery image you can boot into and "apply any zip" from, in which case perfected SPL would keep you from ever booting the recovery image.
I seem to be missing something because in my simplistic thinking i wonder why not put the update-spl-signed.zip onto sdcard, home+power into cm1.4, apply any zip, reboot, voila.
If the recovery image is doing all the erasing and flashing and SPL itself is not there to protect itself, why not?
What am i missing that it seems so simple?
And gold card or not, i see .1009 and .2010 recommended, which one? coin toss?
Thanks in advance for anyone who can clear this up for me,
Daniel
i used this to bypass perfect spl, beware it says g1 but it worked on my 32b board! i dont guaruntee it will work with ures! I found the link on these forums i suggest you do the same
Mods move this to qna. But regardless simple answer for simple ques. If you used one touch root assuming you did. Bc your making this way to difficult. Yes download the spl amon ra has a list of spls you can download its prob on 2nd 3rd or 4th page. Then pick what spl you want put to root of sd and install in recovery as update.zip or as pick ur update. You really shouldnt need a diff spl from 2006 it already is an eng spl. But 2005 does run hero roms better.
There is a newer version of flashrec than that one.

I still prefer the previous one, coz the new one couldn't flash the cusom recovery rom. It only allows you to download CM1.4 and flash it!
I can't seem to find the guide for this. I know it can be done....or am I crazy. I rooted a friends phone this weekend. Tried to use unrevoked but it wouldnt work until I down graded froyo. He's rooted now. But still want to downgrade his hboot. And for the life of me I can't find the guide.

I think maybe this is what you want. It installs the eng hboot and amon ra recovery in one shot. The updated file with ra 1.8 is in post 18 in that thread. There's a guide in the first post. The only thing I can think to add is that you'll want to have a rom on the sd card ready to go. The reason being, it might boot loop after the install (mine did) and the only way I know to get out of it is to flash a new rom (or reflash the current one).
I can't post the link or i would just do that.
In the EVO 4G Android Development section, the post you want is called 'ENG bootloader (0.76 needed for CM6) extended fastboot commands'
How to successfully downgrade to eng hboot .76.2000

Zikronix, I have just downgraded my HBOOT from .97 to 0.76.2000. (In fact done this a couple times both from 2.02 and .97). In case you still need this.. below are the steps.
1. Got my replacement EVO today (hboot .97, 3.29.651 build, 1.71 PRI)
2. Rooted it with this method using default (clockworkmod recovery)
3. Rebooted and flashed Amon_ra recovery (optional.. my preference)
4. Copied the correct Eng hboot file (renamed as PC36IMG.zip) to my sdcard, rebooted to bootloader, Eng hboot zip was flashed, I accepted update, done. Rebooted into recovery.
5. Flashed my favorite root ROM (this is necessary bcos the change on hboot does something funky to your existing rom, so you can only reboot into bootloader ... not sure why, some dev should be able to explain more)
6. Done.
I have a rooted mytouch 3g but when i install the rom and press the reboot now button the phone stays on the "mytouch 3g" screen which goes on and off on and off like it reloops any help please???

Out of curiousity... do you have a 3.5 headphone jack on the top of your phone?
HBoot-1.33.0013 is the spl type for the 1.2 device... but you're using the newer radio. Also if so... I'm curious as to why it says 32B S-ON instead of 32A.
I also had this happen when trying to flash a 2.6.35.10 kernel. After updating to the newer radio, I tried to flash the 32a kernel and got stuck in a bootloop. It turned out that since the mytouch 1.2 with headphone jack is only 32a in terms of memory, all I had to do was flash pershoot's 32b kernel and now it works like a charm. The radio and kernel MUST be compatible for the phone to boot. Save a 32b kernel to ur SD card, hold down home+power to boot into recovery, then apply zip from SD card and find the correct update.zip file for the kernel. This should work, if not just boot into recovery and use nandroid to revert to a usable setup. Hopefully u made a backup before rooting and updating the radio... I wonder why recovery wont find your update.zip file though. Are u selecting apply update.zip from the first menu or are u actually going to the update file by selecting apply zip from SD card and finding the file in the list? If you renamed the file so you could apply as update.zip, make sure it didn't save as update.zip.zip on your card. If not, make sure there are NO spaces in the file name. If you downloaded the file twice, it will save the second as
filename (2).zip and if that's the one you moved to ur card it will still have the space before the extension and recovery wont find it.

thanx for the replies i downloaded the CM rom but when i plug in usb doesnt recognize on comp so theres no way to get on sd. also could it be possible to just add the sappimg on sd and install since it says not found
U could by installing the sdk/adb drivers on ur comp, save the files u want to push in the same folder, and then cd to the sdk tools folder in a command prompt and type "fastboot devices" to connect your phone. I always use recovery and rom manager for all my modding so I'm not too familiar with the rest of the commands, but since ur stuck in bootloop I would either get a usb card reader to transfer the files or do a search on xda for the guide "adb for dummies". The new rom might fix ur problem since they usually have a kernel update built in.

Yeah. Best bet would be to flash a custom recovery through fastboot and then reinstall the stock rooted rom or install a custom ROM.
And hopefully not make things worse botching the recovery flash

Yup, exacly what he said.. also, I don't think editing the statusbar from a stock is possible because its odexed, correct me if I am wrong though.. unless you really know what you're doing.. so now after flashing recovery, try again with a nandroid if you have yours if not with fastludeh's stock odex or deodex rom if you want to keep it stock.

You'll need to download this to your android-sdk tools folder:

Then go into fastboot and type
fastboot erase recovery
followed by
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.2-vision.img
From there you should put a custom ROM (probably CM6 or enomthers) or rooted stock as advised above on your SD card, boot into clockwork, wipe system/data and install the ROM (and gapps if you do CM6).
And please remember: nandroids are your friend

Wait, does he have engineering HBOOT installed? The HBOOT screen he listed says SHIP. Without the ENG HBOOT, he won't be able to fastboot the ClockworkMod Recovery.
To the OP, you probably will have to flash back to the official HTC ROM. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788489.
And yes, as others have stated, you should make a nandroid backup prior to messing with system files. You cannot edit the framework without DEODEX-ing the system first.

Are you sure he can do that? Because theres like a sticky in the dev section of the forums saying NOT to do that unless you know what your doing or only if you flash the EXACT same ROM that came shipped with your phone, or something like that.
EDIT: And if you do have to flash an RUU, could you please explain how? I would like to know how just in case I screw something up(which I probably won't because I have been on my computer searching the forum, asking for help and to double check that what I have learned is correct and what to do if something bad happens for the past week or two) and I can also use the information to help other users.

That was a warning because if you had S-Off and root it would put S-On and remove root. It was an issue because for a while it was impossible to root the DZ's 1.72 RUU but this has since been worked around and doesn't apply to the G2.

Ok,... So you have gone into your Hboot screen, select fastboot, then it says Fastboot on the screen yeah? Do:
fastboot devices
in cmd, do you get anything?
hi!
i found a shop in my area (slo) to unlock my phone. but i'm a bit confused. if i get my phone s-off-ed, as i understand this means full system root, which should men i should be somehow able to flash clockwork mod and then custom roms. this should be done by downgrading to 2.1 and hboot 0.8x.
i found a video tutorial on downgrading here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=981765
and my question: shouldn't i be able to flash clockworkmod directly (without downgrading), since i will have my phone fully unlocked? if possible, how?
I think the best is after the s-off, install and older RUU, then use unrevoked 3.14 thats the most easy and i think the safest way
Most efficient way

Hi
I have rooted wildfire with s-off (xtc clip) and Hboot - 1.01.0002 . I tried the above method but fastboot wont detect the zip file and says not found. I am unable to install clockworkmod using rom manager, whenever i do, i get the red traingle of death.
What to do now ?
Please help...
u donot need to downgrade with an RUU. and further doing so may make ur phone S-ON again (im not sure about this).
u have a simple process.
u can flash any "recovery image" via fastboot mode.
and that's all, after doing that u can flash any rooted custom rom from that recovery.
getting to S-OFF is an expensive task yaar (as far as now). try to keep it in S-OFF permanently.

have u done the "PC49IMG.zip" process with the file in the above link. it is the process for flashing clockwork mod "recovery image". once this is successful, then u can install any custom roms from the CWM recovery.
note: donot do the PC49IMG.ZIP process with any outside file (excluding the link above). if u do that, u might loose the S-OFF
Alternatively, u can flash other recoveries also (i dont know any others)
I got it eventually, I downgraded using ruu rom to hboot. 80 rooted it again and now have 2.3.3 over it
Thanks anyways ..

How will you lose s-off by flashing a PC49IMG.zip? XTC Clip wipes the secuflag in radio NVRAM, no way of getting it back via a normal update.
edit: never mind........
