Not sure if this is the right section but I just gotta ask. Can Nexus 7 make GSM calls? Or is there any mod that can enable GSM calls on Nexus 7?
No, there is no gsm chip. There was a mod for wireless data via dangle, but no gsm voice or anything.

Hello guys
So I flashed the all in one LTE zip. It works fine as I have it set to gsm/LTE/CDMA and usually I get hspa. When I change it to LTE only I get a LTE but for some reasons I am not getting calls. I can call out, but I get nothing when I call myself. Any ideas as to why ?
Because your ROM and radio must match. If your ROM and radio don't match you won't get call audio.

no, its because the kind of lte that we use is for data only, not phone calls. change it to lte/gsm, gsm is for phone calls.
Sometimes I drop to 3G in my home 4G area. Turning the phone off and back on usually does the trick but is there another way to keep the 4G connection?

I believe you can set the phone to only receive CDMA and LTE in the Mobile Networks option of the settings (in the more section)
You can also set it to receive only GSM, GSM and CDMA, or all available networks.

CDMA=3G, LTE=4G. Right? Since I am on the Verizon network, the only circumstances that I would connect to GSM is if I left the USA, right? I wonder if there's a way to isolate LTE connectivity and turn off 3G all together..

You on stock or a custom ROM?
That sounds like a radio problem tbh.
You can't use LTE only - in fact, LTE requires a CDMA or GSM base for stuff like phone calls so it always has to be connected to 3g or 1x.
There's a possibility that switching airplane mode or pulling your SIM out would force LTE to reconnect
Solution: Yes you can force lte
I'm not a engineer or a radio analyst but I do believe what the previous post says about LTE needing CDMA is completely wrong - it certainly doesn't need to have CDMA or any other radio band to effect LTE. That being said, LTE is BASED off of 3G CDMA. But again, I may be inaccurate, however I think the "proof is in the pudding"......HOW TO FORCE TO LTE (ONLY)
1. Open up your phones dial pad
2. Dial *#*#4636#*#* (An app with the title "Testing" should open automatically... but not 100% sure. If it doesn't open auto hit dial....
3. Select "Phone Information"
4. Scroll down the phone information page, you should see the first button that says "Turn off radio"..... We want to focus on the item right above that. By default it's set to "LTE/CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA"
5. Click on that which should provide a drop down list, with specific radio bands.
6. In your case select "LTE Only"
7. Profit!
FYI: IN "LTE Only" mode you will not be able to make or receive calls - this is good for DATA only. You can manually reset back to default mode but regardless every time your phone reboots it will go back to default.
Well yeah that's true. Not really sure if vzw will let you connect though. But yeah no calls or text

Anyone experienced that the phone just stop receiving any call at all but the signal bars are full?

I read these but it mentioned N5 only,
but I did experienced this problem couples of time in different days and it last for so long that I didn't know at all
(only found out when someone did leave me voice mail and it popup)
I am using 4.4.2 rom with hybrid modem LTE enabled,
I am trying with LTE disabled right now and see if the issue fixed.
If you dial *#*#4636#*#* it'll bring up a menu. Click phone information and make sure if you wanna use LTE make the selection to LTE/GSM auto not LTE Only. I've has that problem and i could receive calls or texts. If you wanna go back to HSPA+ use WCDMA Preferred. Hoped that helped

I use LTE/GSM auto already and this still occurs.
I am turning LTE off right now cox missing calls is more serious than having higher speed

It could be your radio, hopefully switching to use LTE every time you want to use it isn't that much of a pain

Hey all,
I know there's been some discussion about whether this device supports band 12 on T Mobile. LTE Discovery reports that my OP2 running 2.0.2 shows in fact connect to band 12. It drops down to HSPA when I make a voice call, but otherwise connects to band 12 for data.

Hey, what network are you on?~
I know in the UK if you're on Three, this device doesnt support VoLTE, so it will drop to 3G to make a phone call. Just how the phone will work as you can't make calls over LTE because the network provider either doesn't support it or doesn't support the device.
That's what I've found.
There's a thread with a clear title on this very subject in the OP2 General section. It's been active since Sept. 11.

Hi there! I'm looking for a possibility to make/receive calls over a GSM signal. It's possible? I'm not interested about things similar to VOIP and SIP. I have a Nexus 7 3G with Autodroid ROM. I've tried with the framework_res edited file, but It did not work. Or maybe it's a way to direct calls/sound from my phone to tablet over WiFi/Bluetooth? Thanks
