please stop talking that nonsense. broadcom already release their source through samsung. at least for gingerbread. you won't get any custom kernel if they didn't do it. you got what you paid, a phone with gingerbread with (almost) monthly update with all gpl source code opened with unlocked bootloader. you see, nothing stop you to studying their source code and make your own os (ics or jb maybe). the only thing that lack is someone who will do it.
if you wonder why development of non kitchen-based custom rom for sgy (like cm) going so slow, it's because lack of collaboration. everyone try to do the big thing but mostly ended with nothing.
if one developer can do one small thing and share source code or how he/she do it, other developer can make improvement. look to my cpufreq patch for example. i only make it with 3 frequencies, but i release my source code so savie can make 4 frequencies version and marcotoo make underclock version.

first, the don't release all source code. they only release source code which cover by gpl. they don't have to release android source code because it's covered by (afair) apache license which allow them to use in close source application. afair no other big vendor fully open their source code.
about your question, please remember, to make update to ics or jb, samsung must paid someone to do it. sgy is cheap low-end phone. that means their margin also low. but porting job to ics or jb for sgy is not easier compared to porting job for high-end device like galaxy s series. so, they must paid almost same amount of money for developers.
the question is, how they paid their developers if their margin is low ? of course with make people buy new phone with new series and new os. high-end device get better after sales service because they already get bigger margins.
agree ^
SGY is a low end phone
samsung markets SGY in a low expectancy rate
they have already financial forcasts of how much sales will be,
and believe me (comming from a business bachelor) samsung will never forecast after 6 month period of saturation because its a low end phone, whereas SGS 3 has a forecast of 2-3 years,
they already expected SGY to die within 6 months and its not a problem to them

Probably because I have also tested FXP (FXP109), and 3D graphic is really good, but everything else is not so great..as in roms like Feralab..But, we don't know, FXP is still developing CM7.2 and CM9 (they are in alpha phase)..

We already have it since FXP 104. (see above post for changelog). Performance are definitely improved, rendering is a lot faster. And 3D FPS cap is removed, only on CM9 though.

LOOOOOOOL
yes - fxp has had it for a while, the difference was quite staggering too.
not sure if any stock based Roms have implemented them yet, i have not seen them mentioned on any other changelog - which is where i would expect it to be as it is a major selling point for any Rom.
it needs to be BUILT FROM SOURCE...and i think you guys know what that means? only achotjan and fxp ROMs hav it.
you can pull just /lib/egl folder from them and see how stock rom will lag like hell on new libs....lol
they depend on other libs so whole ROM needs to be compiled

Because Galaxy Young is not a high end device that even Samsung won't bother porting ICS to it.

It is possible.... but is going to take time... keep in mind how long this device has been on the market. ICS requires a minimum of basic kernel mods at the worst a complete kernel rewrite. Along with this we will have problems with Sensors camera radio classes etc etc etc. There is much more as well. Relax this will take time.

Hi all.
I have started a petition for Nvidia to provide us the ICS drivers for venatana board so that if our manufacturers are unable to provide us ICS, our devs can make a ICS build with full H/W acceleration by using those drivers and if we will get those drivers we will surely get latest Jelly Build also (actually i trust in our devs more than our manufacturers).
This petition is not for only Galaxy R but for each and every device based on ventana board and their users suffers lacks of H/W acceleration with ICS (like Lg Optimus 2x, moto atrix).
kindly sign this petition and show your support also spread this to your friends so that they can also support in our petition against nvidia and so that we can show to nvidia that how we care about our devices and we want drivers from you.
if u guys think that anything should be added or edited in petition leave a reply here or PM me i will do it.
rate this thread and also provide it as a news tip so that we can spread this thread on whole xda by xda-portal
Thanks.

Kinda tempted to try this on ICZaraki
So it means, that our developers started to work on this. Be patient, and don't ask stupid things like:

'When will it come to our device'
THERE IS NO WAY NOW and AFTER OUR DEVELOPERS MADE IT
And thank it to the developers! With the button!
And for developers. It might help.

If we dont get an offical update, the Only possible thing we could do is port Samsung's 4.2.2,but it's hell of a job. And i dont understand why would someone even want that,Touchwiz is the stupidest and most bloated thing in whole android industry, followed by Timescape and sense and such. Use CyanogenMod,that's real android power, not stupid manufacturer-bloated roms. We should concentrate on cracking the bootloader and porting AOSP and CM10.2. Then we will see the true power of our phone.
