[Petition] We want ICS drivers - Atrix 4G General

Hi all.
I have started a petition for Nvidia to provide us the ICS drivers for venatana board so that if our manufacturers are unable to provide us ICS, our devs can make a ICS build with full H/W acceleration by using those drivers and if we will get those drivers we will surely get latest Jelly Build also (actually i trust in our devs more than our manufacturers).
This petition is not for only Galaxy R but for each and every device based on ventana board and their users suffers lacks of H/W acceleration with ICS (like Lg Optimus 2x, moto atrix).
kindly sign this petition and show your support also spread this to your friends so that they can also support in our petition against nvidia and so that we can show to nvidia that how we care about our devices and we want drivers from you.
if u guys think that anything should be added or edited in petition leave a reply here or PM me i will do it.
rate this thread and also provide it as a news tip so that we can spread this thread on whole xda by xda-portal
Thanks.

Didn't Nvidia already released ICS drivers? I'm typing from my Sony Tablet with ICS 4.0.3, and it also runs on the same HW as the Atrix. Also Motorola already gave ICS to other Tegra phones.

Not again...
While those devices are Tegra 2 devices, the Atrix uses a different chipset than those. Therefore, those drivers are near useless. Now if you took 5 minutes to read the other threads...

Signed and sent. Hope it'll help.

We should make O2X users sign this petition too. As well for others Tegra 2 AP20H based devices users. I'm posting it on other forums.
EDIT : Seems like it's already done.

Signed as well. I hope this helps, although I will admit: the prospects seem rather dubious... darn nvidia! Also, pretty sure that the drivers are in no way impacted by the fact that the KERNEL is licensed under GPL...
Hopeful nonetheless

Let's put it this way, the Nexus S will be getting ICS, and the Atrix basically has twice the specs. So the Atrix on paper can support ICS.
The bigger question is how the carriers are going to allow this?
Bottom line, whether it's OTA or CM7 we will see ICS in some fashion on the Atrix...

Agreed, I know that the Atrix will get this in some sort of fashion, the only thing that I "worry" about is the finger-print scanner. I wonder if this will delay the Atrix from getting it sooner, since it is a completely unique device. I just hope the FPS doesn't get left out.

I know google had mentioned that devices currently running gingerbread would be able to run ICS (hardware-wise). Its still up to the manufacturers to create those OTA updates...
Of course will be totally compatible with Atrix! Nexus doesnt have a hardware so different to Atrix! This is the difference between Apple and Google. When Apple says about iOS, they put a date and always launch a public final one week later. Now, Android its a blah blah, all depends of third person, its a shame an OS that grows up like this and have like half of customers in world, they treat us like this. shame!

Wrong. Just like how honeycomb's designated SoC was Tegra 2, the designated SoC for ICS is the OMAP 4. IE Google determined that they were the best SoC available at the time and built their flagship device using that particular processor. It has nothing to do with porting android to various SoCs.

Android 4.1 Jellybean in AOSP

Google developer Jean-Baptiste Queru, also known as JBQ, has announced on Google Groups that they are now releasing the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean source code to Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
Jean-Baptiste Queru said:
We're releasing Android 4.1 in AOSP today.
The name of the tagged release is android-4.1.1_r1.
The name of the development branch is jb-dev.
We recommend that you create new clients, even if you're working in
the master branch. It'll make your clients smaller and faster to sync.
Proprietary binaries are available for Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus. Nexus
S and Xoom will follow.

No, I am serious......without NVidia playing ball we have no true ICS. You said it yourself.....not fully functional! We have pseudo ICS with features that don't work properly, and sub optimal OS. This isn't a slam against any dev. Just stating what I believe is fact. We had the kernels, etc., before any ICS porting started. We lack what the devs require for a true ICS OS.
So you can say its ICS but its crippled. That's why I say like a themed GB.

-> Implying that a BMW engine is better than Ford.
Anyway I get what you meant, but it's not fair to say that it's a themed GB, especially not fair to the devs that have worked so hard to get a working version. The only things that aren't working (at least for me) are HW Libs, Camera is a little jerky, and Browser rotation on most browsers. I think that's pretty good and can only get better once we get a finished kernel.

And by saying this, I'm not criticizing the hard work of the developers that are trying to port ics to our beloved device... it's just normal without proper libs/drivers/whatever

Nvidia,never again

Looks like all tegra ii phones will never take any ics update at all , all other phones already got it.
dont be silly , quit waiting for an update and buy a snapdragron chip

1) Motorola is working on ICS for the Atrix 4G... Why don't you look on Moto's forum ?
2) When ICS is released for the Atrix the ICS drivers will be used for JB
3) Stop raging and just be patient... I paid 300€ for a phone that kicks many more expansive phones, with a badass dock. I'm waiting for the ICS update, but you can fully enjoy it with a stock/Blur ROM.

Once you try JB it is very hard to go back to any previous Android OS. So, even if ICS gets officially released, I will not go back to any ICS based ROMs. I really hope whatever the devs can scavenge out of this official firmware can be used to make JB based ROMs even better.

Not necessarily.
Today I installed CM10 because I had to do some testing. I did a nandroid backup of my current setup (CM7.2-based) and I did a restore as soon as I was done testing. Don't get me wrong, everything worked fine, I think it was just a too big of a leap for me and I didn't feel comfortable on it as I do on a GB ROM. So yeah, just like everybody else I'm also waiting and hoping there will be an official ICS release, but I definitely won't be the first one to jump to it.
Sorry for off-topic.

Indeed it's coming soon so it may be easier to use Moto's drivers than using ZTE's drivers that will not provide any support for the Lapdock. The new Webtop is just the tablet mode on a bigger screen so it should be portable to make an AOSP for the Atrix.
also sony is releasing a walkman(f800) with ics and tegra 2., but don't know if is the same
hmm yes here http://www.androidcentral.com/zte-announces-grand-x and here http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/review/2192722/zte-grand-x-handson-review it seems it runs the same soc as the atrix, but it uses adifferent modem (from nvidia actually), so it might be useful.

Exactly. I mean Moto did assist with the kernel development and officially/unofficially leaked the ICS build to us. Outside of HDMI support, the ICS Blur based ROMs are generally operating at normal level. Sure there's the usual bugs, but they're getting better.

I don't really think it's useful.
What Motorola can do ? The Atrix 4G is not anymore in their website.. (since google got motorola).
They don't have any stable ICS version, they already gave us what they did and i don't really think they continue to work on that...
The only thing what could help would be somme ex-employe from Motorola coming here to help us !

Motorola doesnt care us

Exactly. And the petition didn't help with the release of the ICS leak or with the development of the kernel. It took our devs to ask and work with Moto to be able to get us where we are now. Why ask for something we already have, even if its a public developer made version and not a Moto developer version? Why ask for something that is outdated? ICS is great, don't get me wrong, but JB rev 1, 2, and soon 3 are the current up to date projects. Plus we have KitKat which was just announced and that will greatly put GB and ICS in the past.
