Is there a way to consolidate all the problem threads? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It seems like half of every page in General and Q & A is nothing but problems and fixes. I've been on XDA for quite a few years but I've never had such a hard time finding the right content. I understand people are having problems but it seems it's the same stuff getting posted over and over. Can't there be just an issues section or something?

Yes there is a way. Make a new thread "Nexus 7 Problems/Solutions Consolidation Thread" and link to the individual threads. Do it well and you might get a sticky

Reasons to root

My Nexus One will be here tomorrow, and I am wondering what the Pro's and Con's of rooting are.
I've rooted before. I had a G1, but I bricked it, accidentally. Won't stop me from rooting the Nexus, but just give me some reasons why.
I obviously know about cooked roms, etc. I've read about the Desire rom with Sense UI, is it worth it?
Just want your input.
The "search" function of the forums is a great feature. I've seen several threads about this very subject already.
Its definitely worth it! I enjoyed the phone stock, but when i rooted and went with cyanogen 5053. I couldnt happier. I thought the phone was fast already, but with the ROM, its a step above!
And plus some apps from the market are only for rooted phones. SetCPU (underclocking app) is one of them, and has helped me out with battery life. moderate use, i got about 18 hours yesterday with still 35% left on the battery.

Its great how we have members that spam other members topics with unuseful replys just to get there post count up.
This is exactly why I don't post alot.
@stuff: I rooted my n1 and flashed cyanogen 5053 and gotta say it's alot faster! If your the kind of guy that gets alot of apps and games like me there is another feature of rooted phones called apps2sd. Apps2sd allows you to set a partition size of your choosing on your sd card for use of storing installed apps and games. That way you are not limited to the internal phone memory. Also as h2opoloplyr_11 stated there are some apps that require your phone to be rooted. Thats all I can think of right now as I am new to android and the n1 but I'm sure there are more reasons and more reasons to come as devs get creative.

It has nothing to do with getting our post counts up and everything to do with having a clean, uncluttered and efficient forum. No one likes to see the same questions asked every few days. The point of a forum is for it to serve as a repository of information to help and educate future enthusiasts. This guy isn't special and somehow entitled to create another redundant thread instead of using the search function like the rest of us do.. Not to mention he said in his original post that he rooted his G1.

Why the hell isn't there an official stickied topic listing the pros and cons of rooting your device. The first thing people would see before they go asking repeated questions would be that thread.
Good question...the info was stickies in the G1 forum..probably still is.

Which is why the op's question should have either been answered or his topic reported. What could have been very simple has turned to a two page topic with only a few post that actually answer the question and it's not because of the op. It's because of all the other post within the topic that are completely of topic including this one.

Every time someone asks THIS question. It's about 10 pages of people giving different great benefits. What difference is 2 pages telling the guy to Lrn2Surch
If someone is too lazy to SEARCH for benefits. Who would ever expect them to accomplish rooting, and the various benefits without further questions that have been seen 100's of times.
It seems like I've seen this topic before.

Is there someway we can have one thread for all the complainers?

I do want to know about legitimate problems with the phone but having it all on one thread would help everyone out to know they could click on ONE thread to find all problems and of course the complainers would have somewhere to vent without pages and pages of the same complaint
Or maybe make a poll
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I think the short answer is no.
Depends, can complaining about the complainers be moved there too?
Telling everyone to search would kind of suck if all issues are moved into one big thread. The default search is just titles IIRC.
Actually, putting all of the complaints, problems, and questions regarding this phone into ONE thread would make things 1000 times harder. The key is putting these threads in the appropriate 'section'. Questions, complaints, or basically ANYTHING not related to the development of the phone belongs in the 'general' section. Its keeps the forum organized and helps people find what they're looking for a lot faster. If you were to put everything into one thread, you're basically eliminating the 'search' feature, which first searches thread titles.
A moderator could really clean shop in here. I could pay a mod to delete about half the thread created today. People who are new to android, and/or this forum clearly don't understand what XDA is about... I know I ask what may seem like dumb questions, but I also help others who are genuinely seeking help, but if I are crying over the Internet about your phone (which some on here do not even own), well I could get banned for telling you what I think of you.
A new forum section would make more sense.

There are always a select few that just love to complain and act like the few people that have their same issues equals "everyone". I've seen it everywhere and right now, it's more tiring than anything.
Refer them to my post!
LOL! On one hand it is great to have all these new people excited about Android and purchasing the devices.
On the other hand it sure would be nice if they could join a couple of forums and put all the "General" discussion on the other forums and come here to discuss development, modding, and themeing.... But, it just ain't going to happen!

too many stickies?

Anyone else thinking there's some use-less stickies here??
General section specifically.
There's the Nero v4 add on's and what-not.
Why not organize them and put them all into 1 sticky like they did on some other sections?
im pretty sure the "understanding samsung's firmware numbers" doesn't need to be stickied, yes it super interesting, but it doesn't need to be stickied.
Half the first page is with stickies....
I agree, we should erase the Nero v4 addons thread, the tmobile whine thread, the thread deletion thread, and the Samsung's version numbers thread.
Kills me too, like half the first page in general is stickies. I wish they could do tabs like how the xda app is set up.

I'll gladly add links to most of these threads to the General Sticky, I don't want to insult/upset anyone though.
If you search through the nexus one forums (I had before I traded it), nothing except for noob guides and posting guidelines are stickied.
Samsung Version Numbers?: This is XDA!
Tmobile whine threads: We got froyo already.
GPS hardware fix: use the search bar
Why threads are deleted: again how to post thread
Nero v4 addons: themes and apps and search bar, and Nero v4 is outdated
Why not make 1 thread called STICKIES and put all of these in there?
As someone who TRIES to keep his sticky updated, I would hate to have to go to a stick thread, click a link and then edit mine because the General Sticky (mine) would go to the bottom since it's not posted in too much.
Good idea, but I would not prefer that personally.
I offered to link to some of these, but until a mod tells me their going to be un-stickied, no real point. And again, I am not trying to insult/annoy someone.
Ugh god the stickies truly are annoying, especially when you are using the browser on your phone to visit xda and half the first page is all stickies.
why the heck are samsung version numbers posted as a sticky?

half the first page in general is 15 (total= 30) thread; stickies is 8 thread's.
But, I promise, with your help and this thread, reshape not only generally, but the developers section.
First, I'll edit my thread sticked to:
This section's main thread!
And I'll put the link of the thread's that are sticky
Amended ....
please put your suggestion here of threads and formatting of this topic:
Main discussion lists in the General section
Removed other sticky threads!
While I appreciate and agree there were too many stickies, I am a bit upset that mine is now in a link nobody is going to click on....
Perhaps there are not many new people who need my general sticky, but I know if there are, they certainly are going to have a harder time finding it.

Im referring to the fact that there now seems to be topics that seem to be unnecessarily stickied.
Why do we need 5 kernels to be stickied? We could have a single sticky with links to important kernels in there. There just isn't any need for all these on same page.

Lol, I wasn't suggesting just 1, or implying that's what you meant. I simply added a worthless post to a pointless thread.
No matter what you sticky and what you don't, there will be people saying it should be otherwise.
As with most things in life, It is what it is, live with it, or if it matters so much (and your angry response suggests it annoys you quite a bit) then work at becoming an admin and then you can decide what should and shouldn't be stickied, just like this forums mod and the winmo dev section mod decided on the current sticky list.

Just cos you don't have a use for a sticky doesn't mean someone else doesn't either.
maybe this forums mod is playing with kernels and wanted them all handy? His / her prerogative to sticky them if (s)he wants.
I agree, too many stickies. When using a browser I have to scroll half way down the screen before I can actually see new and active topics. It's not so bad on tapatalk.
One sticky with a link to the various kernels would suffice, right now it just looks messy imho.
Lets not end up with a fight again, at the end, someone will get banned..
I agree, way to many stickies....
I agree that there are too many stickies.
The NAND forum is pretty old now, and there's a wealth of information kinda scattered about.
It does seem that it's time for some housekeeping, it would be nice to have the most frequently needed info re-organized into a few sticky threads that have links to their related resources.
One of the big reasons we have so many 'Please help me I'm a noob' threads is because new members are overwhelmed by the tons of info that is there to help them, but so hard to navigate that they give in and ask for help.
(I know they should use the search function, you know it, but they're panicking because their phone is bricked and they can't think of the correct keyword for the life of them.)
It doesn't seem so disorganized to the experienced members because we've been here forever and are just used to it.
You go into a hoarder's house and ask where the toilet paper is, and they tell you 'Duh it's in the foyer where it's always been'.
If it is ultimately decided that any of the HD2's fora need to be re-organized, I don't mind with helping out.
At least the xda app separates the stickies on to a separate tab. I've been using it more and more now
Made a compilation thread

hope you like it

Having important dev topics stickied is greatly important to the ongoing development of android on the hd2.
Are you still certain those stickies are useless?

Forum suggestion

So every day it seems we have new threads about rooting instructions or basic issues that seem to get fixed over and over. Would it be better to have a section called 'back to basics' or something to try and group those together and chuck the stickies in there. I know ultimately if everyone just used the search tool there would be no problem. But I just thought it might help to clean up the forums a bit as it feels this forum has doubled in size since the sgs2 was released.
