Hello guys ...
I have recently bought an S3 ( box packed ) with a Touch screen starter kit as well ... which came as a gift along with my phone .. there are few very handy things inside .. will post the pics of em soon ....
The set is from UK and is an international version ...
The confusing part is .. i am getting the score 3693 on quadrant .. which is u know almost 1000 less then the HTC One X ..
My phn has
android 4.0.4
Baseband I9300XXLG8
Build number I9300XXBLG8
Can any one help in this ??

how many times did you try quadrant?
Please for god's sake stop using quadrant.
Does the phone feel good to you? If yes enjoy it, if no get a new one.
Check if power safe mode is enabled.
Running jb leak no oc, but had almost the same, I'd not even a bit better at ics tw roms.
But the scores don't matter anyway, if it works flawless, don't care about the score, quadrant isn't really reliable.

HOw's the temp in the area you're testing? I've seen my score drop from 14k in Antutu to 7K if the temp of my device went above 35 degs. It might be due to throttling if the cpu is getting above certain temp. My scores on o/c 1800 are in my sig.
That's the reason why noone shouldn't trust quatrant scores, because some people thinks that higher scores means more powerful phone. There is many things affecting those scores, software, kernel settings, android version etc...
Nothing to do with phones real gaming performance.
I can't believe that after years of xda there are still a lot of people taking care of benchmarkig score.

Every benchmark on a phone is useless. But maybe that's just me and my already big virtual penis...
Precisely. Benchmarks are useless I strongly agree. And this is coming from a One X user. The joke is that Quadrant shows the dual core Snapdragon S4 with a higher score than our Exynos/Tegra quad core, which is bull**** conaidering our real life quad core performance thrashes the **** out of the dual core S4. What matters most is that we know SIII and One X are the most powerful phones on the market. Period.

It's like benchmarking a gaming console: useless. Would you benchmark your Xbox/ps3 and think it's better than the other one, because it got higher points? But how come the other console still performs better on some games? Like I said: useless.
Hi,
@ salmanghiyas , stock/custom rom? Stock/custom kernel?
In case of custom kernel: mainly governor used? Other settings?

Not exactly. Comparing benchmarks from different phones is useless. Comparing 5%-improvements-in-benchmark from different ROMs is useless. Comparing kernels using (only) 5% differences in benchmarks is useless. Claiming your phone is better because you have bigger scores is just idiotic. However, a very low benchmark score does point to something being wrong (thermal throttling happening too soon, governor problems, tasks using up the CPU when they shouldn't, etc.)
Imagine that your car has a problem with the axles. This causes many hard-to-notice problems, such as stability problems, some noises, increased heat, extra fuel usage, etc; none of those problems are easy to diagnose. However, if this axle failure makes your Ferrari unable to go faster than 200km/h, you will see clearly that there is something wrong. Even though you wouldn't go faster than 200km/h on your daily commute, this "benchmark" showed you that your car had a big problem.
Benchmarks are a tool. You need to understand how it works, why it works, and how to use it. Bragging about 50000+ points on Antudrant 3D Plus 2018 is ridiculous. Wondering why you get 5000 points when phones identical to yours get 20000 is a very valid question.
(incidentally, wondering why you get 18000 points when everybody gets 20000 is almost as ridiculous as bragging for getting 25000)

Nope used as a test they are very useful as a bench mark .
Tells me a lot about LH1 LH4 and LH6 as to build completion .Likewise kernels scripts and other modifications can be bench tested .
Used to show who has a bigger score is useless .

1. How are you doing a quadrant benchmark? Mine errors out at "decoding video". (10/12)
2. I am working on a 1.2 ghz overclock kernel. So far a lot of bugs, maybe that's why quadrant failed... if I succeed, I will try 1.4... if I can even out the major bugs I will release it.
Also, just want to add that on said kernel I got a 6752 overall in Chainfire...

You're likely getting an error at "decoding video" because you have used your camera. In order to get quadrant to work properly, you have to run a benchmark before you've opened the camera and caused it to force close.

I'm not sure how many times you've tried the test, but I did it about five times in a row and each time my score raised by about 150 until it steadied at 4200 or so. Make sure to free as much RAM and extra processor usage as possible using a task manager or similar. Also, are you at 1.1Ghz? That's what I'm at with the kernel that came with the CM7 pre-beta install. I believe it is faux's kernel.

Hi everyone!
Last night I was sitting with a friend of mine and tried to tell him that the Nexus 4 was faster than his Galaxy S3. He wanted to test it out and we both downloaded Quadrant Standard and ran the test...
Let's just say that I had to eat my words. I had a fresh install of CM10.1's latest nightly installed. The strange thing was that I was expecting the CPU to max out at 1500~MHz but it still stated 1100~ whilst the S3 was around 1400Mhz.
I went into the Performance menu and set it to PERFORMANCE but still the score was lower. My friend's S3 also had a custom ROM so was thinking that maybe the extra 1GB of RAM in the N4 may give a higher score.
What happened?
so because the s3 scores higher in quadrant, youre thinking that its a faster phone?
Quadrant scores literally mean nothing. You can't compare scores from different hardware on different versions of android running different rooms.
The s3 is a great all around performer that scores above average in all categories. The Nexus 4 scores higher in some categories (mostly hardware and software) but scores lower in others (camera, speaker)
thermal throttling

The Nexus 4 has got some heavy thermal throttling problems, search for this term on these forums and you'll find plenty of info about it. Basically, the Nexus 4 is the only phone that is unable to keep running at the stated max clock frequenzy for more than ~5-10 minutes, because it would overheat. After a few minutes, it will throttle the performance. This is also the reason it sucks so hard on benchmarks, compared to other phones with exactly the same hardware.

No it isn't .. It doesn't use all the cores all the time for everything..
even if I fire up GTA 3 , straight away it isn't using all the cores, and in fact doesn't use cores 3 and 4 at any time in GTA3 , it isnt throttling here,
The only benchmark iv seen the Nexus 4 throttle on is glbenchmark when ALL the tests are ticked, which is like a 15-20 min test at full load
Dsmboost was correct in the previous post as well , hence why not all the cores are being used when in games.
Can pretty much bet anything that its not throttling in 1 run of quadrant ...

Hey Zarboz you planning on getting one of these?
btw I usually would put more emphasis on touch responsiveness and UI smoothness/consistent framerate as compared to benchmark scores However benchmark scores of this phone do show that it is in a whole other class compared to any other phone out right now... but I guess it is the first of the next generation, just like the One X was
We'll have to see what the rest are like, especially the GS4
For sure sg4 will be plastic as usually, with a bunch of stuff like multi windows, s vocie and so on that i turn off, just to save battery. Really, samy does it cheaper... Also twz is ugly and boring.
Or wait to X Moto phone

My experiences in Quadrant... Transform SDXed out: 500+, Evo Shift OCd 1500ish, EVO3d OCd 3900
Each phone was that much faster for games and real world use, mostly.
The outlier was the Transform, butter smooth on the UI. Better than the EVO3d on the homescreen stock. But totally crap for most anything games.
Yeah... I'm about to jump ship and come back to HTC.

Put it like this. Car A can travel at a maximum speed of 100km/h while car B can travel 150km/h
the numbers are the benchmarks. Car B is faster so car A wins.
The reason why they say benchmarks are useless because let's put Car B to real life use.
Car B has 150km/h speed but would you use it in driving the streets? If yes then good luck on the speed limit cameras.

Well... yes... but there can sometimes be an indirect effect on things like battery life. If a chipset is capable of doing more processing for the same amount of power, that likely means it can do the same amount of processing with less power, which means the battery will last longer.
Also, once apps start to become more demanding in the future - more complex 3D games that come out in a year or so - the phones that are faster in the benchmarks now will be able to play newer games for longer before hitting frame-rates that are too low to be enjoyable.
Think of it as car B having a more powerful engine, which lets it go up steeper hills while carrying the same load.

Your going to see a lot of variations with your score depending on the temp of your cpu. Our devices run hot and usually throttle under extended heavy loads. The KT kernel throttles at 70c, not sure about the stock kernel. My phone got 24,500 stock and actually sometimes scored lower after I OCed the cpu and gpu. Turns out the problem was throttling. After cheating at cooling my cpu down to 20c in the fridge I got a score of 27,000 :silly: obviously I don't keep my phone in the fridge all the time. The only time I run into throttling issues is when I'm benchmarking, I get the full 2.05ghz under normal use.
I'm a little confused, I have the SHV-E300S(octacore) version and my scores are 23000 - 24000. I think that this scores are a little bit low.
How can improve the scores?

It sound be around the 27000s ranges even for the Octa S4
Btw, here is my bone stock i9505 with 4.3 getting 29000s.

Clear everything in task manager and you will hit 29000s
I cleared everything with task manager and this was the results.
I repeat that the results are lower than media of the SHV-E300S.
Can anyone help me?

As you can see in the screenshot, my D802 is getting some pretty bad benchmark scores(20k). When I'm lucky I can get up around the 30k mark, then when I'm not so lucky, I fall down to performance lower than the GS4. I know, I know, benchmark scores doors not really matter in real world usage. But when it comes to crunching numbers, I expect the processor to perform its best!
Just some info about my setup:
-D802
-CyanogenMod 10.2 Nov 14 nightly.
-The "Custom G2" kernel by Wootever
-My device is overclocked to 2.5Ghz (saw a little performance increase, BTW this OC was done within the "performance" menu in cm10.2)
-Anything else important?
And just if anyone was wondering, all my scores are better with CM than on the stock LG firmware.
Any magic I can do to bump my bench scores? I have heard some people talking about a hidden dial menu, but I can't seem to access it..
Any help, or just feedback is appreciated!

When I first saw the Chart I thought to myself "CyanogenMod" then I read your post aaaand "CyanogenMod". Most people have been complaining about low bench scores on CM nightlies, some are better than others but Ive read post about people getting in the 17k with CM. Flash the stock Rom then post your scores and see how much that helps the cause.
Edit: Quick note, I dont think I have ever gotten over 23k with CM on this device so I have experienced this as well, not just reading up on it.

All the AOSP roms that dont have major bugs are all performing very well. They just dont score well, its not at all indicative of the hardware, its the Rom. But if your having very low scores on a stock Rom then you might need to get it replaced. Do you have shots of the stock scores? Also make sure that your not using your phone for about 5 min before benching at all or else you might thermal throttle.
Edit: Make sure your governer is set to ondemand or performance and make sure your at 2.2ghz. Some CM roms stay stuck at 1.7ghz and im not sure if this bug has been fixed yet either.

Thats also what i find kinda weird, CM is way smoother than the stock ROM, but is worse when it comes to crunching numbers.
Any way I can disable the throttling without doing damage to my device?

Even if you do that,it wont do you any good. The only way to get better scores atm is only the official roms...

A bounty for AOKP recently reached its goal and is going to be in development very shortly. Keep your eyes open AOKP Roms usually always bench better than CM. Its a great performance ROM with way more features than CM. Keep an eye on the original android thread. Developers name is rohan.

I have just always preferred the more professional look of CyanogenMods website and other services, and I guess that is what made me think it would be one of the best out there. I will keep an eye on AOKP from now on.

Many manufacturers are known for favoring benchmark apps in their ROMs to achieve better scores. I don't know if this is the case with the G2 but, if it is, then switching to a ROM that doesn't have that (such as CM) would make it appear less powerful on the benchmarks.
