Hi guys! I was playing with my transformer today, trying to get the new JB update and I came across a hidden app called "Firmware Update Utility" accessible by tapping several times the "Pad EC version" or "MobileDock version" entries in "About tablet". Here is what it looks like:

So, basically, you take the file from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840397. You put it on your SD card and remember the location. You direct the firmware updater app to that location, and you press update. Easy.

I think the two 7z files are the single file from the OP. They're just split up. You open 7z001 (or whatever the file is) and extract it with 7zip, and 7zip should unzip both files and reassemble them into the single file from the OP.

have anyone tried this method to downgrade from JB to ICS?
you can download the ICS .30 firmware here: http://www.asus.com/Tablet/Transformer_Pad/ASUS_Transformer_Pad_TF300T/#download
(choose Android, scroll down and find .30, make sure to download the right SKU/country (US, WW,...)
maybe we can use this to downgrade without unlocking or rooting our tablet, basically we can downgrade "legally" lol

A - What does this have to do with this thread?
B - It won't work anyway, as after applying the .30 firmware you'll still have 4.1.1 installed, as the new kernel won't allow itself to be overwritten.
C - rewatch

Just dl the ww30 and will try in a minute. Would be fantastic.
Maybe this app has some rights to overwrite the Loader? Dont know. We will see.
No luck. Wont find anything. had the original zip, unpacket zip, blob, and the dlpkgfile on the internal space.
But when the error message comes it say something like External dir, so maybe say have to be on an external sd. Don´t have one, so someone else has to try that out.

Has anyone with root received the update? I can't even find the option to check for updates anymore. Running Prime! 1.2 kernel....
I'm 100% stock and the check for updates shows nothing thus far. Hoping to get this soon enough, because my dock disconnects every 5 min sometimes.

I just talked to my colleague who received it. He's stock too but talked to an ASUS rep and provided his MAC address. To my understanding it's kind of a beta right now but I might be wrong.

If someone gets it, pull it from the cache folder before updating. It could be used by man. I'd like to be able to take advantage of such for sure.
For those that have received it, does it make a difference if you apply the update with the keyboard docked or not docked? Has anyone had success with either?

You're right. It is beta right now. The Asus dev contacted the people in the thread about dock disconnect issues and asked for the Mac address so we can push the update. He did say that you could brick your device if you were rooted before so suggests going back to stock before applying the update. Last night I got the notification there was a fw update and this am got a notification saying there was a dock firmware update. The Asus tech did say it would be released publicly soon

Yeah its not that difficult. Just download the latest update from the Asus website. Unzip it, you will see a blob file in the zip. Follow the root instructions for flashing the blob but instead of using CWM_BLOB use the one you extracted from the zip. You should go back to stock recovery and stock non root after its done

This update bricked my dock, so be careful. I have PM'd the dev, waiting for an answer.
I was not rooted, and I have since rolled back to 20110423 with no love. The dock is not recognized, and the charging light does not come on at all when plugged in to the wall. Obviously the dock has its own firmware...I sure would like to know how to update it (if it is even possible now) to bring it back to life.
Is there a way to download and apply it manually? Or someone can point me on how to contact Asus dev on the forum for an update? I would like to try it as well. Thanks
The firmware is a 13mb zip with 9mb blob, patch folders and a new firmware for the keyboard - TF101-EC-0208.rom. I am rooted so I have not installed it yet, but, was able to download it by enabling the dmclient.apk (You mac had to be submitted for it to be available). The file makes patches to odexed files so you definitely could not install it over a root deodexed rom.
For the dock that is not responding, the dock update is done by an app called fu. You can try connecting to adb and checking dmesg after inserting the dock to see if it is being recognized. If it does it will tell you fire firmware version. If it does show up and is the older firmware you can try manually running that update.
Thanks, Superdave. I will try that. I am reverted to the 20110423 firmware, however. Do I need to get my hands on the 20110509 firmware?
Not to check if the dock is connecting and flash it. The fu utility is ASUCEC Firmware Update Tool version 2.07. If the dock is recognized when connecting (shown in dmesg) you should be able to relfash it. When you run fu it will list the options you'll need to pass the cfg file and the rom name.
Hey guys I got a tweak from wolfs Rom working on my x10 that increases the signal greatly. Watch the how to video here. Works in all roms. (if you have Wolfs Rom this isnt necessary. He already has it)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jy0r-o1Bh9Q&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I now have over a 10000 kbps connection just like his in the video. Pretty cool.
First step unzip the file in your sd card then open the file via root explorer
Next go into system/etc/init.d and copy the modules script using root explorer.
Next go to your system on the actual phone (not the sd card) then go.to etc then find the folder called init.d. (if you dont have it flash this via recovery) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236446
Then place modules in the init folder.
Next go back to your sd card where the 4.0.4 thing is and go into system*etc and copy the entire. Install sh recovery folder then go back to the actual phone and go to.system/etc and just paste it there and select yes if it asks u to overwrite something.
Finally find the install recovery thing
you just copied and click it once and press execute.
Then your done.
How to test if it worked. Before u do the tweak download speed test from the market and test your current wifi speed. After tweak test it again. Note it may require a reboot.
Get it here. http://www.datafilehost.com/get.php?file=a18d42a6

you do realize that overwriting install-recovery.sh will overwrite any other init.d scripts the person might have and also any tweaks put in there by the dev (if you are using it on any other rom than wolfbreaks)?
You shouldn't be advising people to do stuff like this without at least warning them about what they're doing.

I even tried to select the option to use Drive to download it, and it wanted to use Archive Viewer, and it downloaded, and then I couldn't save it as a zip.

a md5 would be useful for such a big download, just saying...
EDIT: also, is there a reason for two system folders in the zip? (/system and /system/system) cause that is where the big file size is coming from ...
Managed to get this up and running. Had some problems with FC's but those seemed to have worked themselves out.
Need to play with it some more and download again to rule out those pesky FC's.

I downloaded this ROM and it seemed pretty good but I am experiencing a lot of force closes as well. Gapps is force closing, Google.acore, the launcher was also another thing that force closed. Is there fix to these? I see someone else said they seemed to work themselves out but mine has not so far after 2 reboots. One other thing that is force closing that is BIG for me was Facebook.
Fresh install wiped everything before and after install. I also tried fixing permissions.
Edit:
I'm also having issues with downloading content from the playstore. For example I've downloaded XDA but its not showing in my app drawer. I have to open the playstore and then click open to access the app. Most apps will not even download. I get an error stating I Dont have efficient space which is not true at all.
Will downloading new gaps fix this issue and if so where can I obtain the latest gapps file?

Put in the OP that you have to format all partitions in ext3. Also you may need to change the updater script in your zip to format in ext3.

I'm having no issues downloading this so far. It's not done yet but it's downloading none the less. And this file size is small compared to some of the Sense roms I've installed

Hi All!
Just out of boredom yesterday I put together a "Toolkit" for this bootloader unlock situation that seems to be extremely confusing throughout the interwebs.... I included the stock image 2.18.40.12 zip for the Z00A-WW (ML551) to start fresh with provided by ASUS themselves via their support site, the 2.19.40.18 OTA update provided by ASUS, the ZenFoneRootKit provided by user Shakalaca, the CWM bootstrapper provided by user 29y6145 and social-design-concepts, with SuperSU.zip, and Full instructions for every step along the way (Instructions.txt Provided by me) I also included drivers and one click adb installer to make things as smooth as possible for this process. Again, I'm not the creator of any of the programs provided in this toolkit, just the particular organizer who saw the need to make this process easier for others who want to get the most out of their phone and get more development capable devices ready for our eager hands to play with. I put a lot of particulars in the Instructions so be sure to read them verbatim and everything should work well.

Too large, since it contains everything from start to finish. about 1.2gb packed
Instead of one large file, why not split it using 256 MB rar files and upload them here?

Let me get this straight, this toolkit is only for the ZE551ML and not for the ZE550ML
Sent from my ZE550ML
The stock img and ota included are not for the 550, however can be easily acquired from the ASUS support site. The other files and programs included work for all version of the zf2.
Edit: no OTA yet for the 550

And I don't believe there's an OTA available for that model yet, apologies.

Access it from your computer and it will show the correct files.
You cannot access Mega on Android without installing the app...
You have to use a computer for the link to work properly...
