Android loosing data - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi all, I seem to have a bit of a problem, this is not to a perticular rom but all that I have tried
The problem is, when the battery goes flat and the phone goes off all data, apps and some system files disappear, if I power off and restart/ remove battery( not tried for long) system starts OK
Have I missed something when installing?
Using clk to install
Partition size is at 5/200/5 recommended by rom
Device is EU HD2
Many thanks
Gary

in cLK did you enable the ExtROM option? enabling this causes data loss on reboot.
otherwise try using Power off then start phone instead of doing a Reboot from Android, sometime ago I had issues and rebooting caused data loss.

I had the same problem as yours, this is happening due to bad blocks on your nand.
My solution:
Installed clk black edition by kokkotas (you can find the latest version here http://www.mediafire.com/?nhyausx0p5whu#tzg7whl9wwaih )
from within clk menu formated all partitions which also marked bad blocks as not used.
Try that and let me know.
btw 8 bad blocks = 1 MB so make sure you leave more space for the partitions

garymeg, if you have been on XDA since 2006, surely you know the difference between this section and the Android Q & A section?

[Q] Booting

When I try to load a custom build of Android, it proceeds like it has already booted before, eg just a few lines of text, vs a bunch of text like the first time I booted Android (The stock desire build) Is this normal?
It depends of the build you are using. Most of them only show a few lines and then an Android logo til installation is done...
Screen turn into black
Hi,
first i copy the andorid to my SD Card. If i strat the "runapplication" @ the andriod folder, the system is booting but after 2 sec. the screen fades into black. After that there is no reaction.
Can help someone? Please
Im using a normal (OEM) HTC HD2 with only CHT.
Thanks!!
I'm having the same problem (using CoreDroid).
I've flashed my HD2 but I did run the CustomRUU.exe because I don't want to lose my pre-installed stuff.
When I try to run Android it won't go any further than the black screen saying "Jumping to Linux kernel.."

If you used the tool in my sig you would've known that you must change your radio (read the guide in my sig to know how to change it)

Thanks for your response.
Before running this update ROM it gives you the warning it will delete all your personal installed files/data. A friend of mine still had all his pre-installed applications and such, can you give me more information on this?

If you flash just a radio then you will not lose anything on your device. If you flash a ROM (either on its own or with a radio) then it has the same effect as a factory reset - you lose all apps and data.
Look for just a suitable radio if you don't want to flash a ROM.
This is about the CustomRUU.exe file running through active sync..
Hi,
I'm back I have fixed the problem.
@ my hd2 is the spl version 3.00 installed also I can't install the hspl and i can't update the radio (my oem radio is 2.18).
I have only uploaded the android files to the card an run it. After 9 minutes the device restarted and now is froyo with sense running on my phone.
Special thanks to all (the xda app is great)

Move from one ROM to another

Hi Guys,
I want to move from this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915159
to this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060
My question is do I have to do task29 and do the whole process again or should I just install CWR in the new ROM?
Cos as you can see the partition is different on the new one.
Did I miss anything else?
Thanks guys
Good choice of Rom
Just follow the instructions in the new Rom,
Yes you do need a smaller partition layout.
Personally I run a task29 everytime I change then re do magldr and install the appropriate size cwm
But people tell me all the time there is no need, but people always run into problems I never do
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
i never do task 29 and also never had problems. i think it's enough if you install the new cwm partition and flash your rom. maybe format your sd. this is causing more problems than not doing a task 29 and installing all again.
imo
I ran the nexus rom for a few weeks and was not impressed. Dorimanx High End with swap by far outperforms it, but thats just my opinion. Everyone has their own rom preference.
hi..
....
....
Dont mind
You know I don't do a task 29 & I don't repartition my phone if its a smaller size either. I do make sure I wipe everything & do a back up each time though but I like to go back and forth between ROMs on the go when I'm not by a computer. I haven't ran into any problems (cross my fingers) yet & I been doing this for months. I think if a ROM calls for let's say 300 but you already partitioned it to 450 it will be fine & you won't need to do it again. I'm not trying to say you really shouldn't follow all the steps it says to take because you really should, but this works for me and I'm jus lazy.

It will run fine unless your partition is to small, but if you run a Rom that needs a partition of 200 and you put it on a partition of 400 your wasting 200mb of valuable internal space

Thanks guys. What I found out was its always better to do task29 every time I change the rom. Better performance and apps will run smoothly.

Hi 2 All ! Can't post in thread with the build so i post here.
I got problem with this build:

I've run it from MAGLDR 1.13 Boot from SD, everything works except Market, won't download after selecting the app, and after 1st restart it won't boot stuck on HTC logo. Tried a few times with different SD cards, reformatted. One is 2Gb another is 4Gb same problem after reboot it's stucks.
Also tried
NexusHD2-Gingerbread_V3.1a_SD_(Android-2.3.6)

Won't boot, stuck on HTC logo. Tried different dataimg_1gb.7z. No luck.
HTC HD2 [T-Mobile] Leo (HSPL 2.08) | WPH7.1 | MAGLDR 1.13 |
Tried many SD builds, these ones: Jaguaralani Gamer's Edition
JaguarMIUI - work after restart, but have some bugs with Market or with Calling, a question are there any difference beetween SD or NAND builds ? And how do I see the version of the radio and which on is the the best ?

To see your radio version, go into bootloader (hold vol- key while booting phone)
Your radio version will be next to the letter R
I think it shows in Android settings/About Phone as baseband, pretty sure but not 100%
Best radio version is a matter of trial and error, the one in my sig works very well for me.
Just if you're using a T-Mobile US HD2, DON'T flash a X.XX.51.XX radio, TMOUS use X.XX.50.XX ONLY or brick!!
NAND builds are more long-run reliable, as the ROM's files are not all in one or two .img files as an SD build has it. So on an SD build, if you get some file corruption, you can have anything from force closes, to buggy apps, to unbootable system.
You should definitely be able to boot up, reboot, and install from Market on any SD build that you just recently installed though.
Alot of the SD builds however were originally designed to be run from WinMo using HaRET, and take some messing with in order to run from MAGLDR, but on these newer builds you shouldn't have problems. Running from NAND almost invariably provides a more stable Android experience.
Try going into Settings/Applications/Manage Applications, and clear the Market app's data. This sometimes helps with the downloading from Market issue. As far as not being able to boot more than one time, tbh i dunno. You should be able to boot and reboot many times, especially on a fresh install.
Thanks for reply man. Gonna try more builds i guess. I got a hardware problem with Volume Up and Down and it is a pain in the ass to use them in MAGLDR, and to enter in boot loader mode, pressing the Volume Down also works as Enter it's a miracle how installed MAGLDR and WPH7 on it It's a long story, i got my phone from a friend he changed the screen after he broke it and it's a little bit bigger than original one so there is problem with Volume Up and Down flex.

That sounds like a kernel problem to me, you could pretty easily change kernels and see if the problem persists.
Just download a new SD kernel from the Android SD forum, unzip, put the zImage file in the main folder of your Android build, and then if there is a 'root' folder in the .zip, place that in the same folder. If there's not a root folder, then make a folder in your Android folder on your sd, name it root, and place the other folders from your kernel.zip into that root folder.
There's no guarantee that a new kernel will fix the black screen after calls, but it's a shot. It's a pretty common problem from what I've seen, so a forum search might be a good idea before switching kernels
At last I've installed ClockWork and flashed NexusHD2-Gingerbread_V3.1 (Android-2.3.6). Everything works great but still got black screen after calls.
SOLVED!
Used the free app ProximityScreenOff. Its in the market.
Make sure you select the Proximity sensor instead of the Light sensor in settings.

[Q]How to create RUU android rom installer?

Anyone tried to made an RUU bassed rom installer for hd2 using an android.img? I know it is hard for example for it I need to have installed hspl + radio compatible for that rom. So question is:
if is possible to pack to nbh:
- magldr part
- misc part
- recovery part
- boot part
- system part
- cache part
- userdata part (maybe is hard becouse use all space, and maybe ruu will be ~500M?)
Anyone have experience?
I know you can flash clk without a computer by changing the name to leoimg.nbh .. you put it on the root of the SD card and hold volume down + end.
Isn't the problem with flashing a rom like this the boot scripts?

Ok thanks, I know that allready but not tried to create full pack for hd2 including magldr and android part. I think magldr is allso instalable trought LEOIMG.nbh?
Idk probably. I think its possible that your onto something. I'm not a developer but seems like you could back up your entire system to a nbh file maybe and flash it .. that's the way you return to stock and uninstall hspl.. if windows can boot like that theirs a good chance android can to.
Maybe its to much effort?
I do think their is a bigger chance of bricking your device using this method.

[Q] My Android OS is not fucntioning.

I am running on MIUI Android 2.3.9 and it is a mess, it kept popping up error messages "Google framework" and i dont have any google services, such as Play Store, Gmail, and i cant receive SMS, and my bluetooth also not functioning, and cannot delete anything from the SD card from the phone, i have to take out the SD card and plug it in into a computer just to delete music, video and pictures.
Was hoping to change for a new OS, but the problem is my usb port is also not functioning. I even have to charge my battery using a third party charger.
Is there anyway i could change my OS with using the usb port. Can i use the SD card instead to do all the works.
And if can, what OS should i get and how.
Dear good Sir, PLEASE HELP, im a complete NOOB. I know nothing about phones and how to mod it. The one who helped my change my phone from Windows to Android is a phone shop, that now doesnt do it anymore.
Search for clk 1.5 This can be installed from the sdcard and will also Install a version of recovery. From the clk menu you can partition your nand to the required size for your chosen ROM. Read carefully and you will be fine.

If you mean change ROM, then you can do what Shanman posted. If you mean actually change OS from android to Windows Mobile 6.5 (a stock ROM), you'll have to flash a LEOIMG.nbh in the boot loader (Google how to do this). If you want to flash Windows Phone then I'm afraid I don't think there's any way to do that.
