U8800-51 Black screen, no boot! PLEASE HELP - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

I have a Huawei u8800-51 that I tried to install the official 2.2.2 ROM from Huawei, File name "U8800V100R001C00B138SP04CUSTESTC205D001 (Estonia Elisa)". I double checked that it wasn't the pro file.
It went through both steps fine, and said upgrade complete Rebooting. When it "Reboot", it vibrated slightly, but went no further, only a black screen. I left it alone for about 10 minutes, in case it was part of the upgrade process, but it never powered back on. I tried to reboot manually, with the same results, just a short vibration, and black screen. I have searched high and low, to no avail. I have tried putting the same dload file from the file on the SD card, pull the battery and plug to computer ( one of the possible fixes that I found ), but again, same results.
Is the phone officially bricked now, or can it be recovered? ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

You installed u8800 rom to u8800-51???

From the links I followed for the 8800-51, that was the ROM to use.

I was jumping back and forth between here, rootzwiki and another site, hard to follow the trail. I did do a backup in CWM Recovery, but I couldn't get into recovery to try to restore.
Ended up taking the phone into AT&T, told them the hone wouldn't boot after an update. They replaced the phone, no charge.

Somewhere in the sticky section of this forum should be "Back the kcuf up!" with links to image backup instructions. I have started doing it routinely. I bricked my phone this morning with a mundane font manager (who'd a thunk?). An hour later it was working just fine.

Its a pinkscreen backup no? I use it rarely, more likely for Official roms such as froyo, ging.

Absolutely. I made one paperweight that CWM refused to restore from a blue screen. I have two scripts:
#!/bin/bash
dd if=/dev/sdb of=u8800.img bs=512
#!/bin/bash
dd if=u8800.img of=/dev/sdb bs=512
I'm sure that there is a WinDoze equivalent. Before installing any app that needs root, I do a complete BU.

[Q] Phone won't boot after failed restore

Greetings
My phone is failing to boot after a failed restore. The phone is rooted and has S-OFF. After flashing a custom ROM I wiped and tried to restore a backup of the stock rooted ROM. That failed while writing the partition cache with an error like this: E:Can't mount /sdcard. During the restore I connected the USB cable right before that error appeared and I suspect that was the cause. I rebooted the phone from recovery, the boot screen came up, sat there for a while and then it entered a boot loop. I pulled the battery at that point. Afterward the phone wouldn't boot into fastboot or recovery. The LED doesn't come on when I plug in USB but the PC detects QHSUSB_DLOAD as new hardware. Is there anything I can try to fix this?
Thanks,
Boz
So you can't boot into the bootloader or recovery at all?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Nope, I can't boot into the bootloader or into recovery. The phone is pretty much unresponsive except for the QHSUSB_DLOAD device detected by the PC.
Wow. Sounds toasted to me. Sorry. Just play around with it using different ways of powering it up.....like without the SD card, hold the buttons then put it the battery, and other ways like that. If it still won't do anything, it seems like your bricked.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Yeah, that's kinda what I figured. I'll play with it some more but I ain't holding my breath. Can tmobile/htc fix this? If so, how much would it cost? I've had the phone for about 10 months but I don't have warranty on it.
You could take it to a T-Mobile store and ask them. They might give you a replacement if your lucky....or maybe a discount for a new phone. Don't mention that it was rooted or that you tried to fix it though. Just tell them it stopped working.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
That's what I'll be trying after work today. Hopefully they won't give me too much crap.
Read my "if you think you're bricked" guide...

ask and answer these two questions to yourself:
1) can you enter bootloader?
2) can you enter recovery?
Note: if you can't enter either one of those, and your device doesn't show any signs of life, then don't bother reading on, you are truly bricked.

I'm taking a look at a relatives TWO Iconia A500’s both with the same issue. It sticks on Acer screen, I clear cache and user data and do the lock toggle trick, Andy shows up with magic spinning in his chest, offering a glimpse of a new beginning then KABLAM, he drops dead. I've tried loading an SD card with several different iterations of a stock rom , hoping to find the correct version for model I'm trying to save. I know this device has several charming hardware issues. Is there hope or should i move on?

In the root guide in my sig theres an update.zip for HC 3.1 put that on yr sdcard and boot up while holding the volume down button - if that doesn't work
I hope you know Linux you're gonna need it if you don't have the cpuid's for both tabs...check out eppePs thread for more info how to do that here
you could also check with your relatives whether they have ever done a backup using CWM or had their tab plugged into their PC at all....theres a couple of ways of retrieving the cpuid you might wanna check out in the first guide in my sig
Once you do get the cpuid's then it will be a matter of rolling back to HC with timmydeans v4 a link to that in both guides

not sure if anyone else is game to try - he could probably make a few bucks on here if he wanted! I think someone else tried it a year or so ago but they went thru a few more hoops as the tab would not charge either, I can't find that post though!!
tdv4 - theres two different methods for running tdv4
from HC rom follow the directions in the pdf for "upgrade process"
from ICS rom you must use the "downgrade process" - do not connect your usb cable UNTIL you see the "cannot detect your Iconia Tab" window.
It will give you instructions for manual apx mode - carry on from there....
It may still fail, as it needs usb debug enabled from your tab. You can try using lcd047's method using tdv4 and manual nvFlash commands - theres a short guide about it in my cpuid guide
I'm leaning towards hardware at this point. The tdv 4 install hangs at about 10%. The manual nvflash spits out an error at the partition 4 write. I'm probably missing something, as I have no solid programming skill set, but I've spent several hours trying to sort these pieces of **** out. I have an Acer laptop and I've decided the Iconia a500 is a bigger turd than even it is.

Does not boot (Only on Download mode)

Hellow guys
Here's my background, I rooted my Tab by using z4root which works fine. I flash zImage using Odin with 20% battery (I think this cause the problem D:
After it says "PASS" I immediately pull it from the pc and boot em up. In the first "Galaxy Tab" logo it has Funky rainbow lines, and on the second logo which is "Samsung'' it stops there and vibrates then it repeats all over again. When I try to boot it on recovery mode rainbow lines appear then go back to First logo screen. Download mode works fine but Odin wont recognize it .
After one week of searching on the internet, I cant find my situation. So, I was thinking to post it here on forums. Thanks in advance!
Weird. I recall reported funky rainbow lines when people who have GB bootloader, which doesn't need to be patched, but people go ahead and patch them.
But you flash zImage, not bootloader.
But since it appears in place of the logo, I would still say your bootloader is the one damaged.

Umm, Yea I saw that in forums too. That's why I couldn't find my exact situation, I don't know what exactly I would do
Btw I flash it with my galaxy tab in 10-20% battery,Did it cost the problem? I also immediately pulled it from the usb cable even if not boot up completely, but the odin says PASS. What do you think?
Please give me exact detail what would I do. I appreciate your fast response,Thank you!
I assume you were on froyo?
After z4root, you should immediately check if you have a protected boot loader. And patch it if so.
Now in this state, it is unsure if you have a protected bootloader.
What were you trying to achieve by flashing a zImage?
Actually I can't think of why except to root, but you have already done that?
Anyway, best you can do is charge fully, go to download mode and flash a stock rom.
If on the off chance your bootloader is not protected, you can use overcome method which can be found at my signature.

What do you mean? Is there no chance of getting it fix?
Do I need to fully charge my device? I charge it maybe only 80-90% battery.
Do I need to wait 20 minutes till Odin will detect it? Please answer :crying:
Btw How do I know if my boot loader is protected or not?
Might be a solution

Hey connect your tab for about 10 minutes or more 25 minutes max it will detect and then load odin with the stock rom files and flash! after it says pass your tab is ready. Make sure your tab has 70- 100% charge :good::good:
please help me, even i tried to update from froyo using odin and now i see rainbow lines.. when i start downloading mode, odin recognizes the tab, what to do?
rainbow lines? I thought that happens to people who upgrade to GB, then tried to patch the bootloader (unnecessarily)?
Is that what you did?

Can't upgrade from 2.2

Help, I downgraded from 2.3 to 2.2 for various reasons, but now when I try to upgrade again I just get the pink screen ,if I try using the option from settings/storage,it says key data couldn't be backed up , the installation will stop. Hi there!
I think when you upgrade from software menu there is an option for data back-up.
Uncheck this option and the error should go away.
Also what do you mean with this: "Also if I boot into the system it runs fine for about a minute then locks up" ?
What do you mean it locks up? Touchscreen is not responsive for example?
My suggestions:
1) Do a factory reset and then check if you can upgrade
2) Try re-installing your recovery(use cwm 5.0.27 by geno for best compatibility) or even replace the whole image folder with the froyo one from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2146856
Your phone is not beyond repair that's for sure. Since it boots fine.

I haven't noticed an option for data backup, will check again later on. And yes when it locks up touch screen becomes unresponsive and none of the buttons respond either. Also when I try to enter recovery ,both custom and stock, it displays the kernel logo then vibrates with a black screen for a second then back to kernel logo and continues to boot.

Back to the stock, but then it sticks.
I went back and re-read your answer. Am I wrong ? Is this just for if you are
Using an SD card to run your ROM with? You see I accidentally , some how removed
The emmc off of my internal drive... I think? When I put my SD card in to Change ROMs, it has a system , data, cache, sd card, sd-ext, but no emmc?
It acts like its installing the ROMs but you take the so card out and power on, and it
Sticks at Read Forever? I think I've really goofed this time!

"emmc" section on a NC is just where you store media files. It has nothing to do with storing a rom. Did you try to reinstall your stock rom? Look at my NC Tips thread linked in my signature for how to do that. Look at item A15.

"emtomc" section on a NC is just where you store mediafiles. It has nothing to do with storing a rom. Did you try to reinstall your stock rom? Look at my NC Tips thread linked in my signature for how to do that. Look at item A15.
And I'm not sure what you mean by installing my 3 codes.

Yes, I did try to reinstall the stock and it does nothing. It brings up the words " Read Forever" and and stays there. It won't do anything . As for the 3 codes/files. You told me to t o go to your singnature and download the 3 files in your signature which I did .
I'm still stuck.

I tried once ,ore doing what you told me and now my Nook won't even turn on... C
It is possible that your NC internal memory has become read only. I have seen this happen rarely before. It acts like you are writing to it but nothing sticks. Successfully flashing the repair 14567 zip should have caused it to boot to cwm when you remove the SD. I am afraid your unit is toast.

I finally got my NC to come back on by plugging into a computer. SO I can at least get it back on.
Is it still toast?

Just because it fires up does not mean it will stop being read only, if it is. Unless you can get it to accept my repair zips or a rom, it is toast.

Rhonda61, I just reread your posts again and I am not sure that you flashed my repair zips correctly. Did you go to my repair thread linked in my signature and install (flash) the zips there? If you did, what were the results? When you took the SD out after flashing them, how did the device act?

I finally got everything to work. I was going to throw the NC away, and decided I would try one more time, and it worked. The results were after I flashed the partition 1,etc... and it would not do anything, until I flashed the partition 2, and still nothing, until I flashed the NC stock update.
BUT.... I just posted a new question, about it will only go to Stock 1.2. It will not let me
put 1.4 NC update on it, nor any of the custom Rom's ? Is there anything more I can do?
