Hi Folks, my seem like overkill but i was listening to music on my nexus 7 this morning so had it in my coat pocket.. my galaxy nexus was in my shirt pocket so was able to access very easily... had a thought about how cool it would be if i could use the phone to control the music palyer on my nexus 7 to select music to play skip tracks/change volume etc without touching the nexus 7... is there any equivalent to 'remote desktop' on pcs that i could use to browse the 7 from the phone?
Cheers,
Mick

How do I use s beam on the nexus 7 and galaxy nexus I can't get it to work
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Well s beam is on the Galaxy SIII, but you can use android beam by making sure that you have NFC is turned on in the settings and android beam is also. Then you can tap the back of your phone against the upper part of the back of the Nexus 7

On both devices, GO TO SETTINGS > WIRELESS & NETWORKS > MORE > Check NFC
Hold the back of the Gnex up to the TOP RIGHT CORNER of the BACK of the Nexus 7.
You should hear a sound and prompt to 'beam' whatever it is. I tested with a webpage, works great.
Hope this helps. :good:
Weird isn't working maybe its the ROM I'm using jelly belly

I got it to work, also. It's very cool. Hold your two NFC devices together, back to back (make sure your phone is lined up with the top edge of the tablet). When they chime, look at the one you want to transmit from and touch the screen. Your information should transmit.

Has S-Beam been ported to the GNex? I think that's the root of the question. S Beam can transfer large files quickly while android beam is slow and only allows small files.
Purchased new Nexus 7 32gb with mobile data, frankly I considered it the best tablet I own (I own 5 including an iPad 2 and a 16gb Nexus 7). Suddenly today while listening to some music the audio became super static-ey , like a busted stereo speaker. My replacement is on the way but I wondered if any else has had this experience.

So maybe we just got defective units, because my first N7 was a 16gb and its still working great. I just upgraded for more storage and mobile data which made it almost perfect. They will probably break down and give it an SD card slot and a rear camera and it will reign supreme in the tablet world.

My speaker started sounding like crap fairly randomly....rattling like broken.
Actually I believe the speakers are just coming loose in the housing.
I have seen this happen with phones before.
Not a big deal though...replaced with new with no issues.

Yeah! Got replacement Nexus 7 32gb in hand, hope it is as sound as my original 16gb. I think this is my favorite tablet, OK, I love this device, OK ... I said it. I wonder how many others got slightly defective units, and if they got a solid replacement. I don't care if I have to send for 5 of these until I get one that's right.

Then, after removing the file in system, the audio sounds HORRIBLE. Base is distorted as hell! Someone help! I tried to use equalizer but it says something wrong with my framework!!!

Hi All, I have a brand new Nexus 4 (O\S 4.2.2) , I do a lot of sports and am using my Philips Bluetooth earphones, through them I used to be able to control my music (forward and backward between the different songs), that was all good and working with my iPhone 3GS. When I am using the very same pair of headset with my Nexus something strange happens, I can control my songs via the earphones up to 2-3 minutes from the time I powered them on, I start walking and then I can't move the songs anymore. Music keeps coming through and I hear it loud and clear , I can answer to incoming calls and control the music volume, but it looks like the BT service is dead or "hidden" in the backgroud and went to sleep and I can't move songs back and forth, when I unlock the phone I get back my controls , again for a period of 2-3 minutes. I turned off the WiFi and the GPS , nothing helps. Day-dream is off. I tried using many music players , all are the same so it must be something on the phone. Very annoying as I need to take my iPhone to my sports when all I want is to use my brand new Nexus. Any suggestion will be highly appreciated. Thank you all.
Way too wordy. Lol
I'm using a Bluetooth headset on my phone and I can answer calls and to music as well. It works fine.

I have a LG HBS 700 headset. Forward songs? My headset can last 10+ hours just listening to music.

I have a Nexus 4 and a Nexus 7. I have been trying NFC beaming between both. The issue I am facing is that I can beam things like images, links etc. from the Nexus 7 to the Nexus 4, but this transfer doesn't go the other way ie. from the 4 to the 7.
If I have a beam-able item open on the 4 and I am on the home screen of the 7, then I do hear the devices recognize each other (the little sound and buzzing) but the Nexus 4 does not give the "touch to beam" option.
If the shareable item is on the N7 then I get the "touch to bean" as usual.
Has anyone faced this issue and / or has a solution for it.
No responses here. Anyone?
That's more than I can do. I never much can beam anything even pics. I just use Bluetooth share or for large files Wifi-Direct which offers 30mbps file transfers between devices

I've successfully beamed a few pics, its a little tedious though, the NFC spot on the N7 seems to be on the upper right side of the back, or at least that's were it seems to ding for me, but it's hard to hold them both and then click the beam button, then hold them still enough to make the transfer, I usually use a WiFi file transfer

I can beam without a problem from the N7 to the N4, but not the other way round. I am always looking to transfer pictures and wallpapers from the N4 to the N7 but without the NFC it's just additional steps to do this.
Oh well...
It seems that it was user error. I hadn't turned on android beam on the N4! Doh!
Sorry to bother you guys...
