Hi, I have problems with my Galaxy Y. I will try to explain with my poor english the problem:
Before the first mod, I have done a backup of the phone (with CWM). It was absolutely stock, no rooted or modded. I was having trouble with inesperated unmount of the SD card and sometimes the phone shutdowns itself.
Then I installed MIUI Cream. Everything went fine, but I didn't like the ROM so I restored to the original state. After that, I rooted the phone. Then, the problem appeared:
When I try to unlock the phone (after a couple of hours without use) the screen is absolutely white. I press the volume buttons and the phone makes the changing volume sound, it seems to still working.
If I remove the battery and try to reboot it, the white screen appears again, the Galaxy Y logo doesn´t. But if I remove the battery and wait a couple of hours, the phone starts and works normally.
So, I restored it again and cleaned data and cache. Same problem. I tried to unroot it with the "update-unroot" package from the Dummies thread, I got "Status 7" error. So I removed the superuser app with Link2SD, restored it again... Same problem.
I tried to fix the problem installing Creed's ROM. It worked fine, but a couple hours later shows the same problem.
What can I do?
:crying:
Please, someone has any idea? Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the reply! I'm downloading the same firmware that my phone came when I bought it. After flash it I will post the results.
This problem can be a undervolting problem? I started the phone and I figured that if I constantly use the phone the problem doesn't appear, but if I wait 5 seconds (for example, before it locks) the screen turns white.

I downloaded the kies version of the firmware of the froyo update and updated the firmware using odin.
After i installed froyo, i wanted to root to apply swype patch and everthing went ok but when i restarted, the phone was stuck on the i5801 loading screen for about an hour
so i flashed the firmware again.
Odin saves the data onto phone and restarts the phone and the phone opens recovery mode but now it gets stuck on a screen saying "delete app data"... "delete files please wait" and it has been stuck there for about 3 hours now and even when i try and open recovery mode, it opens but then this screen comes up
i tried flashing multiple times but nothing works, cant even factory reset now
Please help me out..
note:odin for a change shows a disabled reset time box.. it is faded out)
add http and enter "dl.dropbox.com/u/26157339/compressed.jpg"
here is a screenshot of the screen at which my phone has been stuck for about 3 hours
Also suggest if i should go to the service center coz the phone is under warranty, i really doubt theyd do it for free considering its rooted but i dont mind paying up.
And let me know if there is anyway the service center ppl will know i rooted/flashed
Try taking out the battery and then putting it back, and press the 2 volume buttons+home+power until the phone boots up in recovery mode... Try wipping the memory from there
that is the entire problem, as soon as it goes into recovery mode it starts off like shown in the screenshot
therefore it is not displaying the menu (which has options to factory reset/clear cache) instead its jumping directly to the update sequence but then getting stuck at deleting apps
Try flashing a different firmware, such as an eclair rom. Note that your phone is 5801, so look for those firmwares.

k ill try flashing an eclair rom. I did flash firmware specific to my version it self..
But the problem is that even after the flashing is done, the recovery window has to open where the update begins and thats when the "deleting apps" screen kicks in and doesnt progress
never the less ill try flashing another rom/firmware and see
Hmm, that is weird. Did you flash the bootloader?
tried flsahing a eclair firmware but no luck..
odin runs for a couple of mins, and says pass but still the phone is stuck on the delecting apps screen..'
For some odd reason, my recovery mode is hell bent on deleting some apps but is not able to and is getting stuck and therefore i cant reset/ clear cache..
Do u ppl think this could be coz of the root??
Please suggest something, i dont want to know my phone is bricked for ever considering its not even been a year since i bought it
a second flashing of eclair did it thanks man!!!
it usually works if you flash the very first rom that worked the last time you got problems.
did you flash with your sdcard in your phone?
anyways im just glad you fixed it

Hi There thismorning I flashed my i5800 that I purchased from Carphone Warehouse with the I5800XWJPF 2.2 firmware from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063940 using ODIN.
The first time I tried it all seemed to be successful, and I then proceeded to root it with SuperOneClick and began restoring my phone using titanium. Then halfway through it crashed, and with no input from me my phone rebooted. It then got stuck on the I5800 boot screen. I finally managed to get it to work be re-flashing the JPF firmware. I Then factory reset the phone (forgot to last time). Now I have finally managed to restore to my phone to how it was.. ish.
When I reboot the phone it take forever to run the Media Scanner and no widgets other that the Google search load up. Also icons are missing. Aswell as thos issues the phone runs slower than it did, and crashes often. I have fired up angry birds and it was just a juttering mess. Based on all this I decided to revert back to 2.1.. and oh oh.. can't find my firmware.
My initial firmwares were:
PDA: I5800XXJG7
Phone: I5800XXJG3
CSC:I5800XXJG5
It was rooted using z4 root and had live wallpapers enabled.
Help!
What can i do to fix this?

Okay, it seems to have now settled down after several reboots, but it seems to loose around 30% of the home screen icons upon reboot. Is this normal? And does it happen on the JPM firmware that was suggested above?

No it is not normal. Do a factory reset, flash any 2.1 rom from www.samfirmware.com and then JPM.
Peace...

I've got XWJPF and no problems. It runs very smooth. Something else is wrong.
Try flashing it to the earliest stock version of 2.1 that works, do a factory reset, then using Samsung kies, update it to the latest version available on there. Then try and reflash your choice of 2.2 rom. I had similar trouble with mine when I first started. I would recommend flashing CWM recovery as well, the samsung recovery is crap. XXJPQ seems to be available now and is getting some good reviews, fast and stable like JPF, but more up to date. Also try using SuperOneClick to root, has the best results to my knowledge. Some roms take a while to load all the app icons on boot, depending on the amount of apps you have it can sometimes take a little bit. I've found letting the phone go idle for a minute can get rid of the loadup lag. The ram gets topped out easily on the G3 if you have lots of apps that load at startup, which will severely slow the phone down.
Hope this helps!
More Problems
Okay, Now after a few restarts and crossing my fingers the icon thing has started to work, aswell as everything else clearing up. But now the app sizes are very small according to application manager, (angry birds - 2.2mb) and many third party apps reading 0bytes. Another thing is that Bluetooth refuses to work. It vibrates once when enabled, then another 3 times in quick succession and then the force close dialog appears. After clicking force close the box disappears and the phone responds again. I then manage to pai with a device but when I went to send a file, the dialog box and the vibrates appeared again and it refused to send. Any ways to fix?

Factory reset->reflash->factory reset.
Keep back ups!
All that you say is abnormal.
About your disappearing icons:
Are you using the (stock) TouchWiz launcher? If so, that has a (known) bug on 2.2 that all links to apps which were moved to sd card disappear if you unmount the card (which includes reboot). Are the apps that disappear on the sd card?
Reflash
Okay, to start with I will try the factory reset, flash, factory reset that was suggested. And by the way the disappearing apps were not on the sd card... Strange.. If this failds i will do as suggested by flashing to the earliest version, the update via Kies. I was trying to avoid this because of internet allowance..
Thanks for all the replies by the way

Rooting and restoring.. will post results in a few minutes time!
I'm halfway through restoring my settings via Titanium, and I keep getting the single vibrate, roughly 10 second delay, than a very fast triple vibrate, exactly the same as it did just before bluetooth crashed... Is something else wrong?
Okay, I've restored rooted and reflashed it and... ... still the same..
Titanium
Is it possible that this is caused by me restoring my phone settings from 2.1 to 2.2 through titanium?
If you need the original firmware to return it to stock pm me and ill upload it somewhere for you
I have just sent a bluetooth file! After another flash and wipe.. but havent restored or rooted. Don't think I will bother really. I now have a working phone! Thank you!
You must restore only apps. Restoring system configurations and apps data will cause problems. If I'm wrong correct me.

Hey i've had my S4 since the day it came out and its worked perfectly I used to run a custom rom but ive decided to go back to stock rom. I did and apparently that was a terrible decision because now the wifi wont turn on. When i click the wifi button it goes light green for a split second then instantly back to black and it pops up with a message in the notification bar saying "The device has detected an application attempting unpermitted actions and has stopped loading. To protect your device, it is recommended you reboot." I have rebooted several times, taken the battery out for 2 minutes, factory reset, cleared cache and dalvik, deleted all the files in data/misc/wifi and still no luck. I am rooted but this occurred before me rooting the phone. If you could help me out that would be great! Thanks.

Search for 'nag fix', as this was discussed at length when the phone was released and rooted.
Dear all,
I had a note 3 n9005 white which worked fine in the first 5 days. After that, it starting shutting down randomly. The next day, when i start the phone, the screen freezes after 2-3 touches and it shuts down after 5 secs. If you plug the charger, it keep rebooting but does not work past few touches. If I boot the phone in download mode or recovery, it work flawlessly for as much time as you want. Sometimes you cannot start the phone without removing and reinserting the battery. I tried safe mode, hard reset, cache clears etc etc but no avail
I even flashed leaked polish kitkat rom just to see what happens but the issue is the same. Is it a hardware issue or a software/kernel issue ? Please HELP
If it's doing it after a clean flash of new firmware then I'd say it is a hardware issue and you may want to return it and/or get it replaced.

try to flash compatible firmware of ur phone
download it from sammobile.com/firmwares.
flashing leak firmwares are not helping cause they seems to be beta and have lots of bug.
anyway there s some threads about random restarting note3 but ur situations is worse.
almost of them as i know take their phone for replacement and if u can do it as well.
if not, search for more stable firmware of course JB 4.3
:good:
If this is true:
"boot the phone in download mode or recovery, it work flawlessly for as much time as you want"
maybe I would lean towards software, but since you loaded leaked KK, you can't go back to factory and probably tripped Knox?, you don't have many options left, especially that you tried just about everything.
IMO loading leaked software on a broken phone was not a good idea, in your case I would try to go stock as much as possible, instead.
Me too, i had this problem several times with 4.3 and after wiping my telephone to install the new kit kat 4.4.2 (polish), i Also had freeze, black screen and non responding screen forcing me to reboot my phone.
I also have lines sometimes when i use my camera!
meanwhile, i have again flashed complete polish 4.4.2 with BL , AP, CSC , Modem and PIT File . IT flashed successfully but the problem still persists. No use . any more suggestion. I think now i cannot downgrade and should i try custom recovery with custom firmwares.
I case of hardware issue, i have no choice as N9005 is not officially launched in Pakistan. So no choice .
@joexda75, my screen also dithers and shows different colors some times on portions and some times it is flawless. So you and i have the same problem but my phone is not powering up and freezing after not more than 6 sec. Recovery and download mode works perfectly as i flashed the Polish ROM again via download mode and it worked flawlessly
Did you make an complete wipe of your Phone? Otherwise you have to contact Samsung.

it can be fixed using Mirek190's method just check your IMEI CERTI says pass when you type *#0011# into the keypad if it comes up with PASS then follow mirek190's method without flashing block 12 or block 13 here at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2567133
Careful using mireks method. It bricked berrgs note which is currently not working.

Or at least i think its powering off - i punch in my encryption passcode, it goes to android splash screen, then zip...
I have been looking at other threads and searching (this forum is huge!) but not yet found an answer, certainly not one where i dont factory wipe.
The phone was on the official optus 4.3 firmware
What i did was I used Odin 1.85, and the appropriate CF auto-root from here (cant link yet, not enough posts)
Powered off the thing, took battery out for over an hour, twice, still the same
Just trying to re-root the phone so i can back it up again, it had been a while since using Titanium
Follow the typical instructions, seemed to go fine, it just gives me the green android screen for about two seconds after encryption key is put in and always goes off
I wiped the cache too, and i flashed the current firmware again using odin (Aus OPTUS 4.3 official) - still the same.
Anyone got any ideas for me>?

If your phone keep's turning it off by it self then try to use a spare battery.maybe the problem is the battery and check your battery as well if the serial number starts with BD and that should need to be change soon.

I would think it coincidental both would prove faulty right after i tried to root!
