Since it's marked stable I wonder if any of the bugs I had mentioned on RC2 were fixed. No longer have my Epic, but still curious to see where development ended up with this.

only wiped cache+dalvik .. worked well so far! i love this phone and it's devs. i wish this wasn't my wife's phone. i'm stuck with a thunderbolt
Running great for me, too soon on battery. Just for the record, streaming via 3g/4g in a moving car is not the best way to test battery life, so many variables. Battery life on the nightlies has been great for me. 20+ hours regularly, with 2h+ on screen time is great in my opinion.

I know but that is my normal use if it doesn't hold up during normal use then it doesn't work for me. On CM7 I lose about 10-12% during the same commute.
I'm running stock everything, no fancy kernels. I do have the tweaks listed in a post somewhere here in the general section, and I run Juicedefender because I have it setup to turn off data and then check every 30 minutes for email updates etc.. other then that nothing else.

I'm really interested to hear how stable this is. I just flashed the CM9 stable release for the Nexus S 4G and it's been great for a day. If all goes well I'm going to be flashing this on my mother's phone so she can finally get off the outdated stock touchwiz ROM.

None of the Gingerbread ROM's are stable yet. They still have a lot of bugs and battery life isn't where it should be.
I downloaded Atriarc last night and it seems pretty darn stable to me. I was running the Overstock kernel without issue until this morning when my flashing addiction flared up and I decided to try the Tiger Blood kernel. That ran fine for about an hour and then started soft rebooting constantly. I just flashed back to Atriarc and all is well. I have to say I've had exchange issues with email up until this rom, none now.
Atriarc isn't a gingerbread rom.
I just installed Whitehawkx's Gingerbread beta 3. So far it seems like I can use it as a daily driver. Some small issues, of course, but overall good.
White's is better than CM7 for now, better battery life and overall more stable.
Trigger, Atriarc, SweetHoney are my favs besides CM7
CM7 is amazing if you know how to customize it.
I get 14+ hours of battery life on it, not too bad, considering I get home before that and could just charge it.
It's very snappy and oh, no touchwiz, ftmfw.
Sure, GPS doesn't work, but who cares? Mapquest that ****.
Data seems to work fine.
I dun know, but for me, it's a great ROM and it's worth it.

I'm running cm7 nightly from the 12th and after messing with it i'm pretty content. I know everyone's opinion of smooth is hugely subjective but please believe me when I say that I have mine running as smooth as the seemingly accelerated Touchwiz roms. I'm one for smooth transitions and scrolling and this so far is keeping me content.

Eugene's Gingerbread clone R2 final
Hi, I'm on CM7 and it's great. It's very snapy and the web brouser is the fastest of any rom I have tested. I don't see why people say the GPS does not work. It's never worked as well as it's working now. The lock on the GPS is very fast and very good. The compas works aswell but it does not point to north. There are a fiew games that FC on CM7 but most of them do work well. I would say that it is now very close to being a daily use rom and I'm running it on an I9000m with 850mh radio working perfectly. I just added flash 10.2 and it works very fast aswell.
I think I have a CM addiction. It was on my hero, the my evo, and now that I can actually have some flavor of CM I have to use it. It surely is stable to be honest, much more stable than eg22 leak base roms. Who needs a camera and gps anyway! Not this guy! Do not judge me!

Yes, it is bad. Next question?
But seriously, If you can live without a camera, LEDs, GPS, WiMax, and Video Playback (according to their own thread), go for it.

The main things I'm waiting for are GPS and WiMAX. I'll be waiting a while for the later.
I do a decent amount of traveling for my job, and rarely to the same place twice, so GPS is pretty handy.
WiMAX sure beats 3G for tethering. Airport wifi is quite annoying. Plus my favourite coffee shop has a funky router that the following devices of mine have NOT worked on:
Toshiba Satellite w/ Windows 7
Apple Macbook Pro with 10.6.8
Google CR-48
Epic 4G
T-Mob G1
I've complained to no avail. I can go without 4G for a while, but I don't think CM will be a full replacement for me until it has WiMAX support.
All of that said I'm thankful for the development we have had. When I install Cyanogen on my Epic I'm reminded of how fantastic CM6 was on my G1. The things that work work perfectly, the phone zips around, the battery holds up, the Epic port has had some very solid development and we should all remember to be thankful for what we have rather than hold unreal expectations.
Ditto. Its hard to leave 4G because I have had it since launch day of this phone. Its what 5x faster? Overclocking Cyanogen with Tegrak makes it fast as can be but when downloading anything or connecting to XDA app,etc you can really feel the difference in data speed

Again, there is no "best rom". Everyone has their own opinion, and everyone has different wants/needs in a rom. Since you are rooted, just try out a few. That's the benefit of flashing roms, just make a backup, and if you dont like a new rom, flash another or reload your backup.

I can't get AOKP to run more than a minute (literally) without a random reboot and I have flashed my share of ROMs. Plus last I checked AOKP doesn't have everything working.
Your best bet for stable fully functional ROM is MikG3.0.
I'm liking AOKP but it still has some minor issues (being ICS, it's no surprise). I expect it to be my daily once everything is ironed out.
I'm using a tweaked CM7 for daily use, but I also really like the Mik roms.

Battery life depends on many factors.
Try all the available roms for yourself. Anyone can give you an answer, but that doesn't mean it applies to your specific device and battery combination. With regard to battery life and custom roms on any device ... YMMV (your mileage may vary).

Exactly this... there are so many factors on battery life that comparing battery life from one person to another is pretty pointless... but trying the roms out on your phone is a good way to test because you will mainly use your phone the same regardless of the rom you use... so the only way to really tell what is going to have better battery life for you is to flash the roms and try them all out for a few days each....

GB Roms definitely have better battery life. Stock touchwiz fc09 rooted running shadow kernel gives a whole days worth of charge with 2 hour screen time. On cm20 you can watch the percentage drop as you use it, doing that on stock fc09 is like watching water boil lol. It also charges faster. 1 percent about every minute.
Of course, YMMV but this is my personal observation. I'm running cm10 cuz I like jb, but once they fix battery drain it'll be great. I know its possible cuz the battery lasts a lot longer on the night lies than the first unofficial and official preview builds.

My general experience is the same but on cm10. I typically get 3 hrs screen on time, 20-30 minutes of calls, 20 texts or so, usually an hour of game time...and about 18 hours total up time...and I am at around 15% at the end of the night. That was with the 1012 nightly. So it is definitely a YMMV thing! This is on a epic touch 1800 battery.

That was with the 1012 nightly. So it is definitely a YMMV thing! This is on a epic touch 1800 battery.

I haven't messed with my phone in forever. I currently have a CM7 nightly running on my Epic. Can I just flash a CM10 nightly or will I need to do something first? Like update clockwork mod or flash a different kernel <-- you can see my ignorance showing here.

I was running CM9 when I flashed CM10. I think you can just flash it but I am kind of a newbie. Just do a bit more research. And if you flash cm10, you have to odin back to stock, root, and then flash another ROM you want to flash something besides CM10.

When I jumped from CM7, I went to mounts and storage and wiped everything in there except /sdcard. Then I flashed the ROM and appropriate gapps, and all was fine

I sot there and watch the battery drain from my Epic running CM10. I want to try a GB Rom, but I don't have any ROMS. Wha about Legendary ROM?

If you want to stick with CM10, I've found that the SimplyCM10 kernel actually helped with battery life. YMMV, but I was draining 1800mAH in ~10 hours and it's >12hrs the last couple of days.

I have 1500 mAh and I go to school with 100%, come home with about 40-20% and to me, that's unacceptable. I never flashed kernels because I never thought they really did anything.

If battery life is a major concern for you, then probably avoid CM9 and CM10. But what you get in trade-off is amazing performance and features that only Jelly Bean has. I have a charger or two at home, one in the car and one at work.. plus a couple extra batteries for emergencies. So having the battery last 'all day' just doesn't mean much in my case.
I'm not too concerned with battery life, cause I have 2 stock 1500mAh batteries, and I usually carry around a usb cord in my backpack just in case.
