FXP/CyanogenMod tried to put it on CM9 without success due to incompatibilities.
But I think the Linaro project have a LOT of potential. So, my 2 questions are...
1. Does Linaro only works, or makes a difference in performance, when used on ICS/JB? It would work on a GB Rom too?
2. None of the other ICS port teams are trying to put it on their builds?

What will to a difference is linaro chaintool. On the Galaxy i9000 Semaphore Kernel is faster that Devil Kernel because he use linaro Chaintool.

Hey guys... Just rooted my Nexus 7. I did some research on kernels and found out the two most popular ones are motley kernel and trinity kernel. Can you please explain the differences among the two and which one is better? Thanks a lot..

I've tried the available kernels a few different times and I personally like Faux's kernel most of all. It's nice and smooth like the others but runs quite a bit cooler for me when gaming.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804374
When I first joined this forum I flashed whatever was the most popular. Those are not always the best.
Why don't you flash them all and see which one works the best for you? Some kernels get you a few hundred points more on a benchmark, but no real difference in every-day usage. I am currently making my rounds of the kernels, currently trying Faux's latest ES Beta build: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31508178&postcount=421. Rolling with AOKP Official.
Hi,
I tried Faux Kernel, Trinity kernel and Mothley kernel. Wich is better hmm.
- Trinity Kernel : My device is just not as smooth as the stock kernel. Disliked.
- Mothley : Much smoother then Trinity Kernel but still hard to say if it is more then the Stock.
- Faux Kernel : It is not slower then stock. It is as smooth, maybe even more ?
I know two different forks of miui v4 on the dev section - JIUI and WIUI. Since they seem to be based on cm10 only, I would request the respective rom devs to make flash-able zips or some guides to convert cm10 into miui v4, iff possible. It will have numerous benefits:
1) We will have to download smaller files.
2) The developer wouldn't have to make separate 2ndboot or linaro builds. As I see right now, Wajk hasn't implemented 2ndboot at all and JIUI doesn't seem to be linaro version. I know many people don't like linaro but there should be an option.
3) This would reduce the devs work too as he wouldn't always have to update his rom when quarx releases a new cm10.
So all in all I hope for a positive reply from Wajk and Janeindiran
It's not possible as far as I know, because both miui and jiui are not using the latest cm10 as base(heavily modified) and the custom kernel implementation seems to work for only older kernels. I don't think this will happen

Hey,
I'd like to know if the franco kernel and paranoid Rom are built using linaro and if not how can they be?
Thanks in advance
- Hyflex
franco kernel isnt. but why would you want a linaro built kernel, the google toolchain produces much better results. you can build franco kernel yourself, from franco source, using the linaro toolchain if you want.

I thought linaro is supposed to be way superior and faster?

i think that you fell into the linaro guys hype, as many people did. now its just more of a buzzword without any supporting evidence. anyways, the google toolchain absorbed the linaro benefits, and produces better results. there is also the linaro patches, what the fast roms are including now-a-days, thats different than the linaro toolchain, this applies to roms and not kernels. linaro patched rom do bring more optimations to the table.
the title says it all see if anyone can beat that screenshots below to anyone that dosent believe me rom+ kernel is

How much stuff did you delete? Because the most I've gotten while it still being a working phone with gapps and everything is 310mb.
its not the rom its the kernel

So is this a new kernel that is in "testing" and is not released yet? Because doing a search only brought up DiXperia ROM, so guessing DikeJ is working on a kernel, perhaps?
If this kernel is available can you be kind enough to post a link for it?
Edit - scratch that, the only thing I find is an X10 kernel... so going to venture DikeJ is working on porting it to our Xperia PLAY.. as I know he does work on teh X10 as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2345327
This says its a JB kernel, but is this a GB kernel as well?
I'm working on this kernel for DikeJ and his set of dixperia ROMs and I don't have any plans to upload it till DikeJ ask me to
edit: there will be a kernel for each android ROM DikeJ Makes this kernel is for dixperia perennial
Will the kernel work on r800x too?

Possibly since its based on Lupus Kernel I should be able to work something out
That's awesome but when it's ready and dike j says you can upload do you think you can make two versions work one of them having als disabled. My phone als is broken so unless Als is disabled at kernel level it won't work. Sorry if it's too much to ask but if you can do that I'll be very grateful

Could you be able to do this with ICS/JB kernels too?

yeah I will you won't get 330 mb free ram though
Hail the King @extremetempz and @DiKeJ who are gonna build awesome Kernel + ROM for the R800x
But if you give the system, kernel etc. 420mbs of ram, there's only about 90mbs for the gpu/3d rendering(?) left. Wouldn't that cause lag in games?

The 90mb RAM is for the Kernel, not for GPU/3D Rendering - That is done using system RAM.
There will be 4 main Kernels from DXEngine:
-2 for X10 (GB and JB)
-2 for Play (GB and ICS/JB)
But it's not over, cause each main project will have other version with other destination - for example with some features disabled, but better in performance etc. etc. Justin (@extremetempz) is main Kernel Developer for my ROM projects so all credits goes to him - I focused on ROMs to make it best stable and settled with Kernels - trust me, it should do the job .

games should actually run smoother because I've doubled the vram 4mb vs 8m
Edit: if anyone can extract lupus v12 ramdisk because it keeps Chucking errors at me please pm me asap as I need to extract to put the WiFi modules in and change a few things
well i have extracted it its using another format for ramdisk(bot the normal gzip)
i dont have the link i used to know how to extract but if you search a bit you will find it
(i dont have the extracted ramdisk because i have deleted my compiler machine from virtualbox)

Awesome. Hey DikeJ I hope you and extremetempz dont me offering to beta test this kernel for you. I am on GB currently debloated stock on Lupus Kernel v12. Would love to test out this kernel if you wanted to have someone test it out. Either way I am excited to see this new kernel whether I beta test it or not.
Thank you both of you for your hard work and efforts to keep our little device humming along.
It would be nice to have a kernel similar to Nameless/Emotion kernel for 910G/F CM based roms. I have been using CM12.1 since a few months and the battery life sucks. Is there any kernel available or will there be? I would be glad to hear about it. Wish Emotion R23 kernel had a CM variant. Or is the development for this device on the verge of dying.
The problem is that most kernels are not developed any more. The only one I found that possibly still is in development is the Emotion Kernel. I am not sure about this however.

I wish someone did make a kernel, bored with the touchwiz UI and NON-multi DPI crap and issues. Atleast if RR, Temasek and Bliss teams would provide exclusive kernel zips, it would have been awesome.
CMRemix is the only one I think. I'm saying that because the kernel that comes with his ROM is the only one with extra features like more governors and it also supports voltage control. Only MM AOSP I have seen that supports that.

Does the developer provide an exclusive kernel file, i couldnt find any!
Is there a way to use (extraxt and flash) the kernel from the cmremix rom in pure AOSP (CM12.1) ?
