So is this a new kernel that is in "testing" and is not released yet? Because doing a search only brought up DiXperia ROM, so guessing DikeJ is working on a kernel, perhaps?
If this kernel is available can you be kind enough to post a link for it?
Edit - scratch that, the only thing I find is an X10 kernel... so going to venture DikeJ is working on porting it to our Xperia PLAY.. as I know he does work on teh X10 as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2345327
This says its a JB kernel, but is this a GB kernel as well?
I'm working on this kernel for DikeJ and his set of dixperia ROMs and I don't have any plans to upload it till DikeJ ask me to
edit: there will be a kernel for each android ROM DikeJ Makes this kernel is for dixperia perennial

Possibly since its based on Lupus Kernel I should be able to work something out
That's awesome but when it's ready and dike j says you can upload do you think you can make two versions work one of them having als disabled. My phone als is broken so unless Als is disabled at kernel level it won't work. Sorry if it's too much to ask but if you can do that I'll be very grateful

yeah I will you won't get 330 mb free ram though
Hail the King @extremetempz and @DiKeJ who are gonna build awesome Kernel + ROM for the R800x
But if you give the system, kernel etc. 420mbs of ram, there's only about 90mbs for the gpu/3d rendering(?) left. Wouldn't that cause lag in games?

The 90mb RAM is for the Kernel, not for GPU/3D Rendering - That is done using system RAM.
There will be 4 main Kernels from DXEngine:
-2 for X10 (GB and JB)
-2 for Play (GB and ICS/JB)
But it's not over, cause each main project will have other version with other destination - for example with some features disabled, but better in performance etc. etc. Justin (@extremetempz) is main Kernel Developer for my ROM projects so all credits goes to him - I focused on ROMs to make it best stable and settled with Kernels - trust me, it should do the job .

games should actually run smoother because I've doubled the vram 4mb vs 8m
Edit: if anyone can extract lupus v12 ramdisk because it keeps Chucking errors at me please pm me asap as I need to extract to put the WiFi modules in and change a few things
well i have extracted it its using another format for ramdisk(bot the normal gzip)
i dont have the link i used to know how to extract but if you search a bit you will find it
(i dont have the extracted ramdisk because i have deleted my compiler machine from virtualbox)

Awesome. Hey DikeJ I hope you and extremetempz dont me offering to beta test this kernel for you. I am on GB currently debloated stock on Lupus Kernel v12. Would love to test out this kernel if you wanted to have someone test it out. Either way I am excited to see this new kernel whether I beta test it or not.
Thank you both of you for your hard work and efforts to keep our little device humming along.

We are able to boot custom kernels now!
Anyway... this is the first release of the fully working custom kernel (flashable via xRecovery). I haven't had much time to work on it so it's kind of proof-of-concept. Tested for 48h without any problem (not even a reboot).
FreeKernel-alpha1:
http://www.mediafire.com/?d8v914keiqsmc3n
This is the alpha version of custom 2.6.29 kernel based on the SE sources. I do not plan to work on this release anymore - it is just for testing purpose. From today on I'll start to port SE stuff to the latest (GBread) kernel.
Changes:
- removed 32 fps cap
- implemented netfilter (Droid wall, native USB/wifi tethering etc.)
- undervolted to 0.950mV to save battery
- don't remember what else I did, I bet something nasty
- super ugly boot logo!
Requirements:
- baseband .52 + the relevant kernel
- clean 2.1 ROM, compatibile with .52 baseband (e.g. .504)
- working xRecovery
Please note I am not responsible for any damage this software may cause to your device! Use it at your own risk!
There is absolutely no support for this alpha release!

So, if you want to test this new kernel, please keep in mind it is only compatible with stock 2.1 firmwares (.504 and above) that are compatible with baseband 52.
It is only for testing purposes, and any feedback for this alpha kernel is purely for the benefit of others, Z is not and will not be supporting this version, do not expect it to be ready for daily use!
Please post your results and how you get on with the kernel.
Video of FreeKernel
http://vimeo.com/21838810
does anyone know how to embed it?
I tested the kernel on baseband .46 on TripNMIUI 0.3.2, and the removal of the FPS cap is incredible, the phone is so much smoother and fluid it is unbelievable - it is like having a new phone. I noticed the screen feels a lot more responsive aswell!.
Obviously it is not at all compatible with the ROM, there is no radio and there are frequent reboots, but just a taster in terms of things to come
Apologies for the poor video, but I think its enough to get the general gist of the smoothness
Tried custom kernel just for kicks on trips miui 3.2...bb 54 and up super unstable no network/wifi tons of reboots....
bb 52 and bb49 no network but wifi IS working no sd card mount though
gonna test other roms aswell....
For install custom kernel to be need xrec by Z not from flashtool.
All works, clean install bb 2.0.46 and 2.0.A.0.504.
Dont problems.
I done back to my custom rom way xrec and flashed the patch bb.49, nothing problem.
cheers
this will not work on bb .46 i have tried and failed. no network at all. have tried on several roms... only eternity roms are working on this kernel on bb .52....
supposedly it is suppose to work with bb .49 have not tested on this bb so i cant say for sure.
guaranteed on .52 build 504...
results on quadrant show fps cap has been removed.
overclock is not possible but undervolting is
colors have not yet changed but should upon release of other custom kernels
Can I brick my x10 with this or only bootloop it (because bootloop is fixable with SEUS)

You can't brick it as you only flash some files to the system, and you should still be able to access xrecovery if it bootloops
THIS IS ONLY USABLE WITH STOCK 2.1 ON. 52 BASEBAND!!!
This is a test kernel not meant as anything more than a proof of concept. There is absolutely no reason to flash this unless you are personally working on making your own custom kernels. This kernel is not even an alpha release, it will never be developed or supported. If you choose to flash it just to toy around don't whine about functionality.
When custom kernels are available anything the hardware is capable of and drivers can be written for will be possible. Everyone needs to calm down and quit asking the same questions over and over.

No. Z posted it in the bootloader cracking thread. This is only meant for stock 2.1 FW on. 49-.52 BB and is not functional for daily use. This is only meant as a test if you want a stable new kernel its still going to take a little while.

It won't work with any ROM 100% - its just designed for testing, you won't be able to use it for daily use yet.
If you just want to try it out, its possible it will boot up on freex10 and you will see the effects of not having a FPS cap - but it is unlikely the majority of things will work, like radio etc. as it is meant for stock 2.1 roms.
If you do want to try it, make a backup on xrecovery first
I dont know what you have xD
What do you mean with "its not ready for dayly use" ?
I use it now since yesterday afternoon and everything works perfect!
I had no random reboots and everything is very smooth!
My Battery lost 1 % with stable 1 Ghz (playing around and testing).
So not be scared! flash it!

As in its only supported by the stock 2.1 ROM, and if you run into any problems with it, its not being supported so you won't get a fix
so for example if i install this kernel on my freex10, how can i remove it later if i have problems with it?

Hey guys I'm pretty new to android roms etc etc I have a 512 mb gen 2 european blade that much i found out but i wanted to know whether there was a complete stockish rom with the latest kernel patches? I am running GSF now and it is fast and stuff but i would really like it to go faster with the latest kernels as it was updated quite some time back so i imagine it wont have the latest patches... any ROM without any cm7 mods and all just plain and simple stripped and modded stock with latest kernel mods like gpu axi uv etc ?

U know the answer cm with tons of performance boosts and options
to be honest if you want your phone to go faster i would go with cyanogen mod 7 latest kang + wbaws kernel with GPU overclock
So the stock based ROMS arent the ones with the best performance..?okay and by latest kang which should i try?(i really dont want to overclock and things like that as it may damage the phone no?)
Err.. Cyanogen?
In my experience, cyanogen is one of the heaviest and slowest roms I've encountered, although that might just be me . It's filled with cool stuff and options though.
So far I've been hugely impressed with Elite Blade Rom:
It also has a stock looking ui, except for a sexy lock screen. It's very fast, and battery lasts f o r e v e r. Which is very important to me atleast.
Overclocking doesn't damage your phone, because it only lets you overclock to about 800mhz, and if it doesn't like that clock, it just crashes and goes to normal. Around 730mhz always worked for me, and battery life seems not to be affected.
Stock roms are like buying a new laptop, filled with user friendliness and sponsored apps. In other words; Mighty damn slow. So custom ones are definitely the way to go.
One down, nine to go!
By stock Roms i meant stock based modded roms but i agree thats what i thought was bad about cyanogen that it was real slow when i tried it once before i dont thats why understand how the KANGS will make a difference plus i want stock similar roms as there are no bugs not even minor ones for example in elite blade in landscape mode in the status bar the peeking android looks weirdly stretched and stuff the small things..are perfect in GSF.. if the KANGS can work faster then im willing to try that but preferably i want to know if there's a way to add the latest kernel patches or the latest kernel to GSF..?
Thanks for the replies guys
(Swedish Snow was nice but for some reason GSF still feels faster )
hmm ok i will help you out a bit after trying a lot of different roms available for the blade including ones not available on these forums since they are only Chinese based (im not chinese i just like to try out there roms).
Overclocking will not damage your phone mate because if you overclock your phone to a limit which is not supported by your phone it will simply reboot and put back the normal CPU settings for your phone to work in a proper manner (Do not tick set CPU settings in boot).
GPU overclocking is nothing to worry about because the GPU will overclock when you overclock the CPU (3D games experience on the ZTE Blade has improved)
As for other saying they find cyanogen mod 7 slow i do not know what version they flashed but i prefer to use CM7 Kangs developed by BurgerZ & Kernel developed by wbaw (both extremely talented devs).
The reason others may find CM7 slow is because they use ADW Launcher (free) by default but burgerz uses stock gingerbread launcher.
if you dont want to use CM7 my second fav rom for performance would be Swedish Snow
@ruckus92
i tried the rom when it was updated last, it was not bad neither good as the libs it uses need updating nowadays.
CyanogenMod is pretty bloated, but some kangs are not as bloated.
I find that Burstlam's kangs are pretty light and fast. I guess he must have gotten used to developing for Chinese blades (they only have 256 mb of ram)
You can find his latest build here.
I have tried the stock-based roms but didn't notice any major difference between them and Burstlam's rom.
And like Kannibalism said, ADW Launcher free is slow as heck. I suggest you switch to ADW Launcher EX, or a different launcher the next time you try a cyanogenmod rom.

nope no trouble mate just restore your backup
follow these steps:
1) take out the battery to turn off the phone
2) power on the phone holding the power button + volume down button (keep holding do not let go of these two buttons till cwm boots)
3) Clockwork recovery will boot up
4) select backup & restore
5) select the backup you want to use
6) wait for it to restore your data could take a few mins
thats all mate
Ah i was scared to death hehe thanks my phone's working fine now stable fast and smooth And what about squadzone's unofficial cm7.2 rc5.6 is that the latest kang?
The long awaited, much tooted, GingerDXv023 is finally HERE! So, without much ado about nothing, let’s jump right in! Prior to flashing the new GDXv023, I was running my favorite ROM, namely miniCM7 on ADW EX, which I benchmarked on Antutu right before deleting it.
I'm running the following settings and apps on both ROM's:
CyanogenMod Performance Settings
CPU: min 320MHz, max 748MHz
COMPCACHE RAM: 26%
JIT: On
SURFACE DITHERING: On
16bit TRANSPARNECY: On
ASSET PURGING: On
VM HEAP SIZE: 48m
SWAPPER2
SWAP SIZE: 256MB
SWAPPINESS: 10The test was ran without turning off any processes or background services
minicm7 by whatwhatinthebutt2012, on Flickr After the miniCM7 benchmark, I flashed Alfs08 and GDXv023b, but, since Alfs08 was buggy on my X8 for some reason, I flashed Alfs07, which automatically solved the minor graphic performance glitches I experienced.
Then, to be fair, I quickly reinstalled from the PlayShop the same apps I had before, which included Aldiko, Ebookdroid, MXvideoPlayer, KhanAcademy, MobisleNotes, XiaaLiveRadio, and the standard pack of Google apps, including g+, Sky, and Maps.
With all the apps installed, Swapper2 running, and CyanogenMod settings at exactly the same parameters as above, I ran Antutu. Drum roll please…
gdxv023 by whatwhatinthebutt2012, on Flickr
Hmm… well, what did you expect, Samsung SII score? The benchmark tells the whole story. Or does it…
Just to be sure, I turned on XiaaRadio, signed into g+, surfed the web a bit, and then I checked my available RAM in RunningServices. Just to remind you, both miniCM7 and GingerDXv023b, were set to exactly the same parameters, and running the same exact apps and background services. To achieve this, I simply ran all my other apps at least once.
Although directly after boot I had 108MB's of available RAM, after I engaged the afore mentioned apps, I was back down to the regular 59MB of FREE RAM, which is exactly on par with miniCM7 on ADW EX, with Xiaa, browser, and g+ engaged.
So, does the new version by B.Jay and eagleeyetom live up to the hype? No, not really, but, that's what hype is for! Overall, though, Version023(b) is a very smooth and solid ROM, much smoother then most other ROMs for X8. Of course Fede's LauncherPro is a matter of taste. If you prefer ADW EX, as I do, or any other launcher, just install your baby, set it as your primary, go into Settings/RunningServices, click to select BackgroundServices, find and clear LauncherPro, and you're good to go!
The included ICS theme by AChep is very nice indeed, and I would recommend flashing the new GDX just for the theme itself!
Some of you might complain about the, now traditional, developers' names on the lock screen, but, don't fret and ask for their removal! Instead just download and use WidgetLocker.
Overall, the 23rd installment of GingerDX, now developed by B.Jay and eagleeyetom, is a hole in one...as long you're OC'ing, using a2sd, and at least Swapper2!
PLEASE POST Your COMMENTs PERTAINING TO YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH THE NEW GingerDXv023(b)! IF YOU HAD PROBLEMS or BUGS TO WHICH YOU FOUND SOLUTIONS TO, PLEASE DESCRIBE THEM HERE!
I see that,3Dscore is too low
yes

What about the 2d score?
I find very annoying in testing GDX 023 to have the same 2d result I got in all CM7 roms, this being around 280. While some other guys posted a total diferent situation (claiming same conditions, thus having stock kernel, unlocked bootloader) and getting 400+ in 2d.
It is funny that in my stock rom, latest su and busybox I get 500+ score in the 2d testing by AnTuTu, I attach screenshots.
It is just the busybox - they had to revert it to a previos vbersion - 1.15.3 I think, while the latest is 1.19.4? or maybe just my device?
STILL , I trust that the future management by Eagleeye and B.Jay will improve this rom to what I expect. I know they are serios in taking this task, and they will do their best.
First screenshot - stock. second GDX.
Cheers

No...if your are using stock kernel ([email protected]#1) .. then you just need to flash the stock addons.zip from cwm recovery...
That contains the modules for (fake)multitouch ...
and i am not sure about the wifi tether if the addons contains it or not ...coz i am on alfs kernel ...and i got a different addon ...and almost everything is ok with Alfs v08+GDX v23 ...
BTW: stock kernel users should flash GDX v23b ... or else you might have a soft brick because of the busybox update...

Well since we are working on many JB roms for GSM/CDMA for better JB roms,i m in doubt what users think..so i m gonna keep this real simple:
do you prefer a multiboot kernel like:
lupusJB v8 480p
turbo kernel 3.1
or lupus JBv13?:cyclops:
this might give an idea to @wedgess or @DiKeJ when updating a new JB kernel with no 4.2.2 support.

Well since we are working on many JB roms for GSM/CDMA for better JB roms,i m in doubt what users think..so i m gonna keep this real simple:
do you prefer a multiboot kernel like:
lupusJB v8 480p
turbo kernel 3.1
or lupus JBv13?:cyclops:

in my opinion ... A no multiboot kernel would be better ..
would ensure more compatibility .. and less complicated for users notavos .. (Would save a lot of silly questions to answer) jejej ..
light a future release of a 4.2 kernel ... not so charged (without many Governors and other things) would be great ..
By the way @ smokerman .. going to be possible in a future kernel to 4.3?? and reach some stable rom? sorry if this is a dumb question on my part ..
Honestly I'd rather use a multiboot kernel like lupus v8 or turbo kernel. It's easier for testing Roms and seeing what you want to use and if you want different themed Roms much easier. The only reason I'm on lupus v13 is because I'm stuck on it lol

Honestly I prefer to have multiboot capability like turbo 3.1 jb ICS (cm9) ICS (stock) and GB its great. and easy to swap out Roms while on the move and you can't always flash a kernel just MHO

For testing it is really useful to have multiboot (even if we need a good sdcard to use it, with a class 4 sd it is unasable for example), but to keep the things simple IMHO is better to not have it

@smokerman, on second thought, it would be better if multiboot kernel. But that is compatible with GB / ICS / JB (as Turbo kernel) .. or just GB / JB if possible .. then you could use (GB) rom gaming, and (JB) and cell rom .. hehe
In my case I prefer a non-multiboot kernel, because I think that the compatibility would be better and I also would like to be able to record in 720p. I can also understand people who wants a multiboot kernel, because is a useful thing, but as I don't use it to much I prefer it not to be multiboot

i find hard to have a fully 4.2.2 rom/kernel working for play (touchpads/gamepads included)..we simply dont have that many devs working here..they move on to other new xperia 2013 series..so we gonna be at 4.1.2 and its good as we have many roms with all features for our phone..(touchpads still lag on JB ,but i use 99%gamepads so for me its fine JB roms).
a dedicated kernel its always better for hard gamers..performance is the main reason..on JB i prefer multiboot..different partitions, other roms (GB,ICS,CM9) we have the top of the kernels..altough is highly recommended you have a class10 sd card..or else you gonna be hurting performance.:good:

if you have a core reason .. multiboot is much better. would be great if someone could solve even the touchpad error in GB (for turbo kernel 3.1) as usage in GB (PsPocket) and the gaming performance is much better .. but hey up to you developers that happen ..
Thanks for all your work for Xperia Play, and keep him alive a while longer ..
I have not seen a similar thread knocking around so anyone who is interested please post your benchmark scores for all to see.
Here is my Antutu score
Stock ROM
ElementalX Kernel
Decrypted stock 5.0.1
Stock Android 5.0.1, decrypted
[ROM][5.0.2] LiquidSmooth 4.0
[Kernel] FIRE-ICE
ROM AICP
decrypted
Kernel: you know
This is completely stock unrooted and must say not bad compared to rooted devices.

Again very impressive. Antutu app was updated to support 64bit test for 64bit android so probably helped the score.
Will be interesting to see if it improves on 5.1.

What is your window manager res and density
Here is my best with my own unpublished ROM and Elemental X...
And that was without really working two hard to get it.
I will try your kernel tonight.
Here is just the beta stage of my ROM, not tweaked hard yet, stock kernel.

Oh snap! Will do!
Got first run going through now... will remove it after that.
I am clocking using Elemental X App like your recommendation in the OP.
And what gov will give best results? Any prefs?
I dont know what it is... But I cant get a good run with your kernel. Day to day use its nice... But as far as benchmarks I cant get the results that I "feel" from your kernel.
Could also be "my" ROM tweaks just dont like your kernel, **** happens

True
I find it so funny that I can't seem to git past the 61-2k mark on
elementalX. I wonder why? But who knows
But in the end of the day
The one that's the most smooth wins

Both kernels are smooth. Good job to both of you! :good:
But like any device you have CPU Bins... My bin may be the same as Flar2's and your bin may be different...
Case in point... I cannot O/C my Nexus 6 with Flar2's kernel but it runs smooth. Agitates my I cant O/C but its smooth so I cant really complain.
Benchmarks are just for bragging rights anyways! How the every day usage feels is the important part. I think the two kerenls (yours and his) are equal for daily usage!
I would recommend either. They are both great!
Wish I had Kernel skills like that! Im just a ROM guy
I have stock nexus 9 decrypted, elemental x kernel OC to 2499 an GPU of to 984, deadline scheduler... Can't ever seem to get more than 58k....
So weird that the USB host guy says "stock ROM with elemental kernel" and Gert's like a 67k out the gate.
I cant even Check the CPU BIN because this is an Nvidia chip and that info isn't stored in the same place in android as it is ith Qualcomm chipsets.
