Screen Brightness - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Happy with my new N7 except for one thing, the max screen brightness is a little low for me.
Now, this same thing happens with Stock ROM on the Galaxy Nexus, but when its flashed with CM10, the max brightness went way higher.
So, my question is, anyone tried any of the Custom ROMs on here and noticed that they can increase overall brightness of the screen any?
Thanks in advance,
Kev

[Q] Brightness on CM7

Hi everyone. Before CM7 i had FroYo installed on my Wildfire, and display was fully visible on direct sunlight. After installing Cyanogenmod 7 i hardly can see whats on the display. Is there any tweak or application to increase brightness?
Have you increased the brightness in settings->display?

[Q] Way TOOO dim

I guess I should have done my research about OLED screens, but I feel that this screen is way too dim both indoors and outdoors. Is anyone else having problems with this? I know that the peak brightness is 475 on autobrightness, but I feel that the screen never reaches that. On another note, the colors seem very saturated and unreal even on movie mode...
Is there any way I can set the autobrightness to kick in at a higher lux indoors? I know it seems like I am venting, but I really like this phone but the display brightness may make me abandon for the Nexus 5...
Thank you everyone!

Root the phone and install a custom ROM. That will give you the ability to change the auto brightness levels easily.
You could also turn off auto brightness and set it manually so you fan boost it all the way up whenever you wanted.
As far as the hardware capabilities the screen is capable of being plenty bright. I could see mine if I was standing on the face of the sun.
Sent from your phone. You should be careful where you leave that thing.

I don't know much about custom TW ROMs as I run aosp exclusively. I know its easy in cm ROMs. If its not a native feature of Omega I'm sure there is a mod you can tweak it with. You would have to search though. I don't know where to direct you.

Lg g2 how to modify/make the screen brighter?

I remember on my gnex that there was a way to boost brightness above max factory settings... Does anyone know how to do this?
My g2 seems to be struggling in bright sunlight... Its just not that easy to see. I am currently on a 4.2 rom. When I recently flashed a 4.4 rom it seemed that the screen was brighter. Any ideas?

Unlock Brightness Bug?

Hello
Using ktoonsec kernen on XtreStolite ROM. Sometimes when i unlock the brightness is just extreme bright for a second and then is adjusting itself.
Any ideas whats causing this ? Some build.prop tweaks? There shouldnt be anyone. I tried with the stock kernel but got the same results.

Do other XtreStolite users have this issue too, better look/post a question in that forum for a better chance of a fix.

Yep.. It's nothing like the note 5 in sunlight
Yes please, even my old S5 is easier to see in direct sunlight.
Yeah it's not great at all in direct sunlight
Wow even if adaptive display on I do not have problems with the screen brightness in sunlight. Maybe I just don't use my phone is direct sunlight as often as I think but I never have to turn my brightness above 50%. I find 100% with adaptive brightness off to be way too bright.
I would not risk any mod to increase brightness it will probably destroy your screen.
I hope this will help ! https://m.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/3xexxo/nexus_6p_high_brightness_mode/
Hello everyone, please take a look at the Original Development thread. From the top of my head, Franco and ElementalX kernels have this capability, it works wonders in direct sunlight.

Confirming, kernels include this capability, as well as the ability to overclock or underclock other system specs (not required, but possible). Speaking for high brightness mode on Franco Kernel using Franco Kernel Updater, it's maybe 15% brighter. Noticeable, but not dramatic. With this combination (FK + FKU), you can't simply increase the maximum value of the brightness slider. Instead you can either turn it all the way on or off manually from within the app, or have it automated (you can't adjust the settings, e.g. how bright, what threshold it triggers at, and it's still all the way on or off with the automatic setting).
Can't speak for elementalx, but I hope someone delivers a more elegant solution. EDIT: having just watched a video about elementalx, turns out that kernel allows you to automate the trigger with tasker. Again, it's still either all the way on or all the way off. Judging by the video the brightness didn't appear to differ from franko kernel's high brightness mode.
It's the same on all kernels. I brought the feature to this device and also created a handy widget( check my sig). The beta version of the widget has an auto mode
