When you look in the nexus 7 guidebook, there is a small dot below the volume rocker.

If you look about 1cm below the volume button you will see that there is a slightly bigger dot that's out of place from the rest.
The guidebook doesn't say what the dot is so does anybody know?

It maybe a microphone placement - but they decided to put in on the other side only..
or
It was going to be the shutter release for the rear camera - which they scrapped..
That's the only thing I can think of
If you look at any of the teardown sites for the Nexus you will see there is a button on the device that has no port on the case.
Doing a search will turn up all the info on it...

It's a reset button for factory use.

Sorry for the camera shot I couldn't get print screen to work on windows8. Any way I think it looks pretty good
To apply scroll all the way to the bottom is in the left corner . I like it looks good
I like much better easier features

how do I get it?
Btw it's for your home pc or the web site scroll all the way down to the bottom it will be in the bottom left corner. It should say xda2010 click on that, options will come up. Press xda 2013 beta there you go
The only problem that I see with it so far is that it seems like the screen is a fixed-width screen, unlike the old theme.
Sucks on win xp using ie8 (work computer)
Wow! Definitely better looking. Thanks I would never have seen it.

As the title says. Mostly annoying as it rattles when tapping on the screen. Here's a video, you might need to turn up your volume to hear.

It also has a green tint in the top left corner most visible using the browser. To top it off also a loose top back cover. I've heard Samsung's quality control sucks but so many issues in one device. It's made in Vietnam by the way.

Maybe you just got a device that got hit by something. I don't have this on my device. It feels very sturdy and all buttons feel smooth.
Just go back to the store and tell them. No need to break down Samsung's quality department because of this. Every product has a few bad experiences...
Bought it online locally so the video was for them to see and exchange. Just thought i'd share since I'd already recorded.
Photos of the green tint they couldn't see. They claim it's not there based on these photos.

Here's another photo with just a white background i'll try.
I just wonder how such a broken device passes through quality control.
My SAM 3 is also from Vietnam....bought recent and its blue....let me test it first.
Err. So I'm toying around with my Nexus 7, and when I took off the back cover, I noticed something. There's actually four buttons on the board, and its right below the volume down button. Why is it there? The back cover only has three accessible buttons. Pressing it doesn't seem to do anything, either.

I'm guessing it was supposed to be a camera button for a rear camera but they ditched the rear camera idea.

I took a look at the ifixit tear down and you can see them in there. It looks like the buttons aren't individual buttons but part of a larger assembly. More than likely they either got a deal on using that and just had functions for three of them, or its a standardized part. Do any ASUS tablets have four buttons in a close grouping like that?
I just rooted my Nexus 7 to takes screenshots but now that it's done and when I take the screenshot it's all grey and blurry.

I don't what to tell you about the gray and blurry, but I will say you don't need root to take screenshot. Ever since ICS you can take a screenshot right out the box with volume down + power buttons on all androids.
I've taken a few screenies on my stock unrooted nexus and they look fine. Though as soon as I get my laptop running again I will be rooting this baby.

I can add that what I mean by press in, is that I can feel that the glass is getting pressed a little back..
Stop pressing it then?

Wow, what a nice answer.
I was looking to find out if my back glass had gotten damaged.
Cmon, anyone? Probably be my last bump before I let thread die
Gave mine a gentle press, and nothing. I agree with pepdavies, stop pressing it in.
