Err. So I'm toying around with my Nexus 7, and when I took off the back cover, I noticed something. There's actually four buttons on the board, and its right below the volume down button. Why is it there? The back cover only has three accessible buttons. Pressing it doesn't seem to do anything, either.

I'm guessing it was supposed to be a camera button for a rear camera but they ditched the rear camera idea.

I took a look at the ifixit tear down and you can see them in there. It looks like the buttons aren't individual buttons but part of a larger assembly. More than likely they either got a deal on using that and just had functions for three of them, or its a standardized part. Do any ASUS tablets have four buttons in a close grouping like that?

Sorry for the camera shot I couldn't get print screen to work on windows8. Any way I think it looks pretty good
To apply scroll all the way to the bottom is in the left corner . I like it looks good
I like much better easier features

how do I get it?
Btw it's for your home pc or the web site scroll all the way down to the bottom it will be in the bottom left corner. It should say xda2010 click on that, options will come up. Press xda 2013 beta there you go
The only problem that I see with it so far is that it seems like the screen is a fixed-width screen, unlike the old theme.
Sucks on win xp using ie8 (work computer)
Wow! Definitely better looking. Thanks I would never have seen it.

Just got my N7 today and noticed two tiny black dots on the bottom of the screen, they seem to be inside the actual screen. Sucks but idk if I should look for a replacement or just wait a few days to see if they ho away. I got mine from The Play Store. Anyone else have something similar?

Questions go in the Q&A section
I think my screen has a serious problem.
When I made it to display 50% gray, there are these weird uneven lines.
Do you think I will get a screen replacement?
It has been driving me nuts.
Can you take a picture of it with a camera, so we see what you mean?

how did you make it gray?

As you can see, the two long ovals, there is this weird lines. It actually looks worse in real life cause I don't have another good camera as a source.
Then the right side, the colour of the grey is different. A little yellowish patch compared to the left side.
And I used LCD Test.
Seems its a defective amoled panel, so if you don't feel good about it sent to warranty.
Anyway if this just happen in a solid gray picture then is not a big deal.

When you look in the nexus 7 guidebook, there is a small dot below the volume rocker.

If you look about 1cm below the volume button you will see that there is a slightly bigger dot that's out of place from the rest.
The guidebook doesn't say what the dot is so does anybody know?

It maybe a microphone placement - but they decided to put in on the other side only..
or
It was going to be the shutter release for the rear camera - which they scrapped..
That's the only thing I can think of
If you look at any of the teardown sites for the Nexus you will see there is a button on the device that has no port on the case.
Doing a search will turn up all the info on it...

It's a reset button for factory use.

Have terrible light bleed on my Nexus 7 that is approx 2 months old, been getting worse and worse, just filed for a RMA but Asus says they do not cross ship for tablets so I would be without it for 3-4 weeks.
Is there any fix I could try? Is this a similar issue to the screen lift problem everyone seems to be having? If I warp the tablet in my hand I can get the bleeding to be more or less or different places which leads me to think the screen isnt on straight.
Here is screenshot off it on a pure black background

I've gotten some lightbleed on my Nexus 7 (minor, not noticeable unless brightness is turned up) and the "ripple" when I press on the screen. I do assume this has something to do with how the screen is mounted, but I'm not sure how to fix it.
Ouch. Does it creak a lot to?
Sent from my SPH-M830 using xda app-developers app
The only real way to fix this is with a screen/digitizer assembly replacement.
