Have you guys considered to own a second nexus 7 to increase the games storage on nexus 7. My first unit has some problems but it was perfect in other departments so I didn't replace it and now I am happy with it. I love my nexus 7 so I am considering to get another one to increase the game storage. However I don't want my 2nd unit to have any of the defects so should I wait more or flawless units are already available in abundance?

Do out mean get a 16GB model?
As for the issues, I have a new batch(bought on Sunday) and the only real issue is screen flickering. But if you don't play games at low brightness then you probably won't notice that. I also have very slight lift on the left side, its only noticeable because it clicks if you press it. Its definitely us able.
So I don't think Asus have soled the problems in all the new batches, so there's a chance that if you get another, it will have problems.

I already have 16 GB model and it is already full with big games. I am asking how about getting another nexus 7 and install different set of games on that one. What's your SSN starting 3-4 digits? C60K / C70K / C80K?

No because android games aren't that good. Really strange you play all those games at once. Install a couple, delete when done.

don't accept a flickering and squishy screen. I have both of those issues and my replacement is on its way to me now. Google customer service is so quick and easy and you have a defective tablet...dont settle. what if your issues get worse?
I find it interesting that you would actually consider buying a second tablet just for games, seems a tad excessive. If gaming is that important, then buy a dedicated machine? I think it would do you better.

I would say buy it. For the price its very well worth it, if you get a bad device just send it back !
Think about it this way. People don't usually go on the internet to express how good a product is. But they usually go on the internet to express how bad there product experience is. So if everyone who owned a nexus 7 I am sure it would be a small percentage of people with defects. Just cross your fingers.

Hi guys,
I'm giving my daughter my iPad Gen.1 and grabbing a Nexus 7 but just saw a report at Anandtech showing the nexus 16 considerably date then the 8gb version...
Kind of puzzled why this would be, can anyone shine a little light on why this is?
Sent from my GSII w/ICS SHOstock2
It's mentioned right in the article. The 16gb uses a faster eMMC controller. Also, this specifically affects read/write performance, not other types of performance.

Thanks for the reply AZim,
so overall we wouldn't see or feel the difference between the two? I do understand it was mentioned in the article but I'd rather hear it from you the everyday users, especially if you had the opportunity to compare then side by side... Financially I'd rather go for the 8gb version but if there is a big advantage going for the 16 other then memory space then I'd hold off until I could swing it..
Sent from my GSII w/ICS SHOstock2
I only have the 16gb, so I can't really compare them side by side, but even though I said that it only affects read/write performance, it could in theory have a cascading effect in slowing things down. For example, if you're playing an intensive game, it could take longer to load things like textures, which might require the game to slow everything else down while texture loading catches up. In practice though, it seems unlikely that you'd really notice since it even mentions in the article that the 8gb's performance is still very good, just not as good as the 16gb.
I totally agree but sering how high ranked (#1) the 16gb is listed and if the 8gb was ranked #2 I wouldn't have asked but it drops 4-5 spots which made me wonder...

Price is low because you are buying the phone straight from Google and they are interested in you using their software rather than making money off the device like other companies. It's an amazing device on par with other flagship's.

To me, the ONLY negative is the lack of SD card slot. So you are only limited to 16gb of storage, and that's not the entire amount available to you. And coming from a device with 64gb storage it was a hard pill to swallow lol. I figured I needed a "diet" of apps and data anyways.
I absolutely love the phone and amount of love the devs have had developing for it thus far. I also still have my old Nexus one in storage .

If you want a lot of storage on hand and not in the cloud this phone is not for you. You can use thumb drives but unlike other devices you will need a power source and a y-OTG cable. As stated before the low price is simply to get you to use Google software and in my opinion the limited storage is a not so subtle push to get you to use Drive. This is my first phone with an embedded battery and it's surpassed my expectations. I get over 24 hours with minimal usage and 8 hours with what for me is heavy usage, this includes streaming music for 2 hours for my commute and my data is always on. Like the previous poster said, this is a great device. To optimize battery life, root and buy SetCPU.

Like the past repliers, low price is there because google is focused on the software, rather than making a lot of money off of their phones. It's a really great device, and I plan on using for a very long time (unless I get a N5 when it comes out, of course.) It's well worth the cost if you can get one. Even the it isn't the best phone out right now specs wise, it's still one of the best overall. It may not have the best amount of memory, but I easily overlook that with dropbox and box.

I was afraid about the low price as well but Google doesnt even want to make money on Nexus. They just want you to use their software and develop maybe!
So, just open your wallet and purchase one Nexus or two maybe! Then unlock it and flash custom ROMs and kernels!
To you lucky people who already have the new Nexus 7, does it really feel loads better than the first generation N7, and how? Here in Europe we won't be getting this for a while yet it seems, so I can't find out for myself.

Agreed, no brainer here either. Better everything, including build. And for the price, for me it's more of a why not.
Although the Note 8 is a pretty damn good tablet all around.
Having a better screen and speakers that are actually useable makes all the difference for me. The build quality seems better to me. I sold my first gen Nexus 7 on ebay months ago because I couldn't watch things on it or listen to music without headphones. Upgraded speed is also a big plus.
I would say yes.
The 4.2 update for the nexus 7 was really bad but the 4.3 update fixed alot of that. That said the new nexus 7 has a great screen and performs much better than the previous model even with the 4.3 update.
IMO, yes. Definitely worth the upgrade for me.
The speakers is what I love about the new 7!

I dropped my old N7 a couple months ago so I've been dying for another e-reader. bought a nook HD+ and quickly returned it since the build on it is crap.
So glad I ended up returning it in the return window because this tablet blows it out of the water and it isn't even a competition. It's an upgrade in every conceivable way to the older N7: physical specs including feel and build quality, software, and hardware.
This is one of those updates where literally everything is upgraded almost across the board, and considering my old N7 was having serious lag issues, it was a no-brainer upgrade for me. There isn't anything that is immediately at another level than the old N7, but when so much is upgraded and refined (screen, speakers, no lag, RAM, processor, build quality) I personally couldn't resist.
I also had the 8 GB N7, and even though I don't use much internal storage at all that was still too little, so moving up to 16 GB should help a lot.
I used my original all day every day for business and then reading at home.
This model is certainly snappier and the added resolution really helps for docs etc during a meeting.

Spent the whole day playing with it today after buying it from a local Gamestop. It's great. Enjoying it much more than the previous Nexus 7. The screen is beautiful and the dual speakers are a breath of fresh air compared to the tinny sound of the mono speaker we had previously.
