To you lucky people who already have the new Nexus 7, does it really feel loads better than the first generation N7, and how? Here in Europe we won't be getting this for a while yet it seems, so I can't find out for myself.

Depends on you really.
with the build quality, and more efficient CPU, more RAM, thinner, lighter, better feel in my hand. it was a no brainer for me

Agreed, no brainer here either. Better everything, including build. And for the price, for me it's more of a why not.
Although the Note 8 is a pretty damn good tablet all around.
Having a better screen and speakers that are actually useable makes all the difference for me. The build quality seems better to me. I sold my first gen Nexus 7 on ebay months ago because I couldn't watch things on it or listen to music without headphones. Upgraded speed is also a big plus.
I would say yes.
The 4.2 update for the nexus 7 was really bad but the 4.3 update fixed alot of that. That said the new nexus 7 has a great screen and performs much better than the previous model even with the 4.3 update.
IMO, yes. Definitely worth the upgrade for me.
The speakers is what I love about the new 7!

I dropped my old N7 a couple months ago so I've been dying for another e-reader. bought a nook HD+ and quickly returned it since the build on it is crap.
So glad I ended up returning it in the return window because this tablet blows it out of the water and it isn't even a competition. It's an upgrade in every conceivable way to the older N7: physical specs including feel and build quality, software, and hardware.
This is one of those updates where literally everything is upgraded almost across the board, and considering my old N7 was having serious lag issues, it was a no-brainer upgrade for me. There isn't anything that is immediately at another level than the old N7, but when so much is upgraded and refined (screen, speakers, no lag, RAM, processor, build quality) I personally couldn't resist.
I also had the 8 GB N7, and even though I don't use much internal storage at all that was still too little, so moving up to 16 GB should help a lot.
I used my original all day every day for business and then reading at home.
This model is certainly snappier and the added resolution really helps for docs etc during a meeting.

They are available in lots of stores. If they're still in stock. GameStop, Staples and Walmart... That I know of. Got mine at Best buy. For some reason, nobody is waiting for the release date that was announced.

Yes, there is no real comparison between the two. It is a full on sequel in every way.
It is that much better. Screen is amazing, and sound is amazing, so loud, camera still sucks' back camera sucks,. If you have the original nxus 7 its a decent upgrade.,, I returned mine. Will wait for nexus 7 3.
Its pretty good. Screen is nice and the speakers are much louder. Its a good bit faster as well.
I'm still on the fence about whether it is worth it tho.
Both my 7's are on 4.3 if that matters.

I didn't think it wads worth it so I returned mine, plus my old one is plenty fast and has 32 gig, got my money back

Hi guys,
I'm giving my daughter my iPad Gen.1 and grabbing a Nexus 7 but just saw a report at Anandtech showing the nexus 16 considerably date then the 8gb version...
Kind of puzzled why this would be, can anyone shine a little light on why this is?
Sent from my GSII w/ICS SHOstock2
It's mentioned right in the article. The 16gb uses a faster eMMC controller. Also, this specifically affects read/write performance, not other types of performance.

Thanks for the reply AZim,
so overall we wouldn't see or feel the difference between the two? I do understand it was mentioned in the article but I'd rather hear it from you the everyday users, especially if you had the opportunity to compare then side by side... Financially I'd rather go for the 8gb version but if there is a big advantage going for the 16 other then memory space then I'd hold off until I could swing it..
Sent from my GSII w/ICS SHOstock2
I only have the 16gb, so I can't really compare them side by side, but even though I said that it only affects read/write performance, it could in theory have a cascading effect in slowing things down. For example, if you're playing an intensive game, it could take longer to load things like textures, which might require the game to slow everything else down while texture loading catches up. In practice though, it seems unlikely that you'd really notice since it even mentions in the article that the 8gb's performance is still very good, just not as good as the 16gb.
I totally agree but sering how high ranked (#1) the 16gb is listed and if the 8gb was ranked #2 I wouldn't have asked but it drops 4-5 spots which made me wonder...

Well bids started rolling in so off to Staples I went and all Nexus 7s were sold out and they had no idea when more will be arriving. They wanted me to pre order but with Sam's next door I figured it was worth a shot and they delivered, got me a new nexus 7 16gb and having some fun, Swype was my first install lol... funny this feels like a really big Galaxy S2

Whether or not you decide to root, definitely unlock the bootloader first because if you unlock it, you'll have to wipe the device.

I recently sold my iPad as I havent used it since becoming an S3 and then a Note 2 owner. My initial plan was to get the new 32gb N7 as I liked the size of it and the specs seemed great too. Plus the fact its still a portable size and not to clumsy to handle.
Anyway, since seeing the N10 specs im in two minds as what to do. Are any N7 owners thinking of selling up and moving to N10 or is the N7 still capable of holding its own.

I'll move to the Nexus 10 once they announce one with a cellular radio. Otherwise, I'm happy staying on the N7 for the time being. Besides, once I get the N10, I'll gift this to my mom.

So I had a nook color as my first tablet which was 7 inches and loved it, then got an HP touchpad and put ice cream sandwich on, and I can say I rarely used my touchpad, I would a little bit here and there but it was big and bulky to carry around, however since I have gotten the nexus 7 which is almost 2 months ago now, I haven't put the thing down.
Its small enough to put in a bag, and comfy enough to type on using both hands without having to prop it up or manipulate it differently.
While its still has enough screen real estate to scale stuff right, also the UI that Google put on this kinda big phoneish in a way is awesome, this is a device meant for portrait use where as the nexus 10 feels landscape bound in nature

Most of the time I prefer 7 to 10. There are times 10 would be better (working at a desk, or doing a presentation), but if I had to pick one size it would be 7. I do wish I could have gotten 16 gig of memory for the same price though, although I'm doing fine with 8 with some care.

When the 7 was announced I decided not to buy it because I prefer a bigger tablet for reading documents and web surfing. The price was great, but so is in the 10.
Seriously... 399$ for a 10 inch super hd screen with powerful processor and 2GB RAM? It's as great as a deal as on the 7.
7 is too small for serious work. If I were going to use it only as entertainment then it would be enough.

Honestly you can't go wrong buying a Nexus 7, specially the price.
what kind of feedback are you expecting from a forum dedicated to people who love their nexus 7? this is like going to a mazda dealership and asking them if it's worth buying a mazda.
Agree with the post above mine, but the reason I bought the 7 specifically is due to the price. For $250 there isn't a better device available.

You get great specs at the best price point out there. What is it not to love, and what makes the decision so hard. For the 7 inch form factor, it has no rival nowadays. If you're looking for a bigger display, a better resolution go with the nexus 10, galaxy tab 2, galaxy note 10.1 etc.

I have an ipad2, a TF700T and two Nexus 7s. The Nexus 7's are my favorites. Right size, right price, right speed. Tad heavy. So far not the smallest glitch in either one. One is a 32gig wi-fi, the other is a 32gig wi-fi/ATT.

I would honestly suggest a soft gel/rubber case.. Hard cases ruined my hox, too much pressure to get them on, ended up breaking some ribbon on the board, so the screen won't turn on unless the housing is partially removed.. Which is how I have to use this phone until I fix it or order a nexus 4 if its not fixable for free/really cheap.
The only thing I'm losing is LTE. Which I don't use/rarely use as it is
You should if you can get it for $350 at Play Store. I'm happy with it, very good price for a good phone. If you can live with no LTE, non removable battery, no external SD card, somewhat low/tinny speaker output volume and just average camera quality you'll be happy with it.
I would buy it again. The price is unbeatable. If you can live with the lack of OTG (Which may be fixed eventually) and camera quality then you'll love it. I think the washed out colours thing is due to peoples love for very saturated screens. As I said in another thread, take a photo of something, look at it on the screen, if it's brightly covered in bloom, then it's over saturated. Just because the Nexus 4 is less saturated doesn't mean it's washed out.
All right just ordered it from Google. Can't wait! 388.00 total but that's cheap compared to the other ones I've had bought. Not to worried about the camera I have a camera for that. I'm still not sure on what case but thinking gel case something that won't scratch it n can clean up n not bulky. I don't know what plan to go with being in northern Mn there's not too many options.

i´m returning mine
I recently got it and I absolutely love it.
Things to consider though:
1. no SD CARD, got the 16GB version and im still struggling with space.
2. battery life is below average, I'm coming from a Motorola defy which had much better battery life.
Should I buy the nexus 4 to replace my one x? or should I spend double and buy the One or S4 nexus experience when they come out?
Do whatever you want. If money is not an issue then go with HTC or Samsung. Most likely users over here will tell you to get the Nexus 4. If you enjoyed the HTC experience then get the One. If you want to try something new, get the S4. Otherwise get the Nexus 4.

Not completely true, the hardware of the S4 is great and the camera, screen, speaker and screensize are better than the N4 imo. Its the crappy and bloated software by Samsung that cripples the phone atm. I had the S4 for a week and sold it because of the lags and stutters, the camera and screen are very very good.

Not the screen. No matter how high the resolution is, and how ridiculous the pixel density, nothing makes up for the unbearable oversaturation of AMOLED displays If I were to go for a new phone (although I probably won't for at least a year and a half) I'd actually go for the HTC One right now, not the S4. As for which to choose out of the three options, it ultimately comes down IMO to whether you need more than 16GB of storage. If you don't need more, then there aren't really any significant benefits of the next-gen phones over the N4. Otherwise, get the HTC One.

I found the S4 screen much less oversaturated than the S3 or Note2 and the colors in pictures looked very natural to me

Ah really? Fair enough then, I can't stand the S3's display compared to a calibrated N4.

True, the colors on the S3 we`re too `colored`for me as well,
Honestly, i'd wait for the next nexus. The one x is still a pretty good phone and should hold up till then but its your choice.

Well from graduation I got about $1800 and don't know what to spend it on. I've been wanting to buy a different phone so I'm just stuck between them all
I know they're the same size but the one screen just seems tiny compared to nexus plus that black bar for some apps is annoying as hell. Running PA with pie is awesome on nexus it gives a full screen experience

Htc is a junk. N4 is a world better. I also went from one x. Never regret it

Just buy the N4, slap a custom kernel on it for good batterylife and color control and sell the N4 in November/December for the N5. Waiting is pointless, we`re human so who can be 100% sure that he/she will still be alive tomorrow
