My Nexus 7 has some pretty major screen lift and nothing I have tried thus far has fixed it. I bought my Nexus 7 from Staples like 2 days ago. I would like to exchange it.
The question is, what did you guys say to the person to let you exchange it? Can you just walk up to them and tell them you want to exchange it because of the screen lift? Or did you just make something up (like bad battery or something).
Thanks
My friend got his Nexus 7 from Staples, and when he found out about the defect he called them up. Since he was within the 14 day return policy, he got a replacement tablet reserved in their next wave. You should be fine with just explaining the defect.

Has anyone bought a Nexus 10 from a place other than the Play store and had to RMA their device? I am curious as how Samsung's service is in terms of getting a replacement unit out to you. Getting a replacement unit from Google is pretty simple but is it as easy to get one from Samsung? Do they attempt to fix the device (for example, if you had light bleeding) or do they send you out a new unit?
Bad service.

I bought mine from walmart and thought my battery was bad. I called samsung and it was painful to say the least. They transferred me 5 times. Once they sent me to google cause they said they didn't handle nexus products. Google sent me back to them I picked the wifi only option and they told me again it was a google product I told him I just got transferred back by google. He sent me to the manager who again tried to tell me they didn't deal with nexus products. So I told them my problem and told them I felt the battery was bad. He finally just said okay I'll put in a ticket for you to send it to Texas (I believe he said, wasn't really listening as I felt I should have just got a new one). He said the process would take somewhere from 2-3 weeks. I said forget I'll just deal with the bad battery until I can buy one and replace it myself.
The shipping process with Samsung is much the same except that it takes multiple transfers on the phone to find someone that has a screen that can do an RMA ticket on the device. My problem is that in doing the work they don't really make sure they solved the problem you had. I had my screen replaced and they put a worse screen in with four corners of large light bleed and they even managed to scratch up the back of my device. I was upset to say the least and had to ship it back for them to fix their shoddy workmanship. On top of that... I sent mine back on the 16th and it didn't get opened until 2 days after arrival. As of a week ago it has been sitting on hold waiting for parts. So its been in Samsung's hands now for 2 weeks and no word on when they will get whatever parts they need in stock or ship it back. When you ship they pre pay a 2 day air ups label and send it back 2 day air as well. Hope to get it back reasonably soon as the device has been out of use now for over a month. First trip took about two weeks total. Second trip who knows.
BTW, I did buy mine from play but was tired of worse RMA replacements. Everything was perfect on mine other than a little dimming along the camera edge of the screen and a dead pixel.
Sent from my often RMA'd Nexus 4, So that I can use the one I'm using now when I get the 6th and hopefully final one.
I bought a 16gb nexus 7 on launch and like many of them I had a very small amount of screen lift on the left side. I never really cared much about it because it was minimal. Now after months of use the screen has lifted more and the case creaks when I touch on the left side of the screen. So now that it's much worse I want to exchange my nexus 7. Is this screen lift issue covered under the 1 year warranty from Google? It sounds to me that this issue is so common that they should give me a new one no problem. Is this true or am I going to have to deal with a lot of reps to get a new one?

If you bought it from Play Store you should be fine. Call during daytime business hours to get the more knowledgeable call centre. When I called to RMA my N73G on the weekend, I got some totally spaced out rep who said she'd open me a ticket and nothing happened. Finally on my third call I got someone totally on the ball, and she walked me through the whole process of a device swap.
Basically what they do is set up an RMA ticket, and then they e-mail you a special link to "order" your replacement on Play Store. It will charge a hold to your credit card. My ship date is still a week from now but at least they're honest. Upon arrival of the new device you have (14? 21?) days to send the old one back.
If they're willing to do a swap on a blown-out speaker I would think they'll do one for screen lift.

Thanks for the info. I will give them a call and see how it goes. It sounds like the screen lift issue is common enough that they know about it and will exchange it for me.

How did your RMA go? Did they exchange it and provide a new one free of charge or was a complicated process?
My N7's whole body is creaking when I hold it and there is backlight bleeding as well on its bottom left corner. So I was thinking of initiating a complaint as well..
Guys I had gotten my gf a nexus 7 for christmas. The battery icon now reports 0% battery but the tablet still works. Tried everything to fix it. Anyhow, she contacted Asus 2 weeks ago and they were suppose to send her another tablet. Two weeks later, no tablet. On the phone with them now and the guy is saying she needs to send her tablet to Asus and pay for shipping. Has anyone heard of this? This is ridiculous. Why should she have to pay for shipping for a faulty tablet on their part. In my experience, you get the new device, than send in the old one. Just curious for anyone who has dealt with Asus customer service and if this is the truth or not. thanks guys.
It's not the same as a phone company. Hell shipping should only be like $6. It's doesn't weigh much. They aren't going to send you a prepaid box and stuff is what I'm trying to say.

Maybe that's just what I'm use to. I just figured like the first guy she had spoken to, said they were going to send out a new tablet. Then ship the old one back in the box the new one came in.
That is standard shipping procedure for RMAs.
If the tablet was purchased around Christmas time, and you guys called in 2 weeks ago, I'm not sure they would offer a straight replacement like that. We can only do a replacement if the issue was reported within 30 days of the original purchase - much like a store's return policy. Anything after 30 days will have to be serviced only. There are special exceptions, though, and this might be one of them for all I know.
When an RMA is made, its creator (the phone rep) is supposed to e-mail the customer RMA instructions. Inside the e-mail will be an address where to ship the defective unit to as well as other instructions. If you have not received this e-mail yet, let me know and I'll see if I can get it sent out to you.
Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] if you have any questions.
I sadly broke my Nexus 7's(2013) screen and digitizer in less then 5 days. Shameful I know, but anyways I contacted Asus since there wasn't anything else I could do. Their customer service set me up with a representative within 5 minutes. I explained my problem and he told me that they can fix it but it may cost me. There wasn't another option so I said okay. So they sent me an email with a form and told me to ship my Nexus to a Asus repair facility. I did and within in a week they sent me it back and fixed the screen and digitizer for FREE! Yes free well unless you count the shipping which was a small price to pay for fixing the device that wasn't their fault in the first place. Anyways if any of you have problems contact Asus I'm pretty sure they can help you. I'm so happy thought I lost my Nexus.
Someone if eager to save their reputation

That great to hear ASUS did that... +1 for Asus
Walmart sold me a 2 year accidental glass break/water damage warranty coverage for $28 it was a heck of a lot cheaper than Best Buys 2 year warranty at $70 so I got it. Hopefully if anything happens to the device its easily covered and ill get a new one instead of something fixed.
Off Topic - Does anyone have any experience with Walmart warranties they can share?
Asus was nice and pleasant to deal with.
I had to RMA one of my TF101s three times. It was the contracted repair shop (in Texas) who didn't fix the issue the 1st/2nd time.
They just re-flashed the stock image and sent back to me saying no-problem-found (I carefully documented the issue and suggested
they replace the mainboard due to faulty flash-storage). The 3rd time, I talked to Asus/San Jose directly and they asked the shop to
replace the board. It works beautifully since.
On the 1st RMA, somehow I unexpectedly got a new charger in the mail, from Asus (the issue was the unit didnot power on
even when plugged in). The 1st time I sent it out, it had a customROM onboard .. haha.
I've also only had good experiences with asus technical service. When my pc motherboard failed after a year, new one free!
Good to hear you had such a good experience with Asus.

Good to hear.
The way things are looking right now they're going to get very busy very soon..
I had a terrible experience with my N7 (2012) and Asus. Sent it in for a bad screen, and took 2-3 weeks to get it back. Glad to hear they're getting better

Hi all,
Received my 6p this morning and it is a wonderful device. When setting up the phone I immediately noticed that the bottom left of the screen is slightly cut off with a blue outline. See attached image. If you zoom into the bottom left youll see the defect. This is really only noticeable in full screen mode as otherwise the navigation bar hides it.
Not sure if I should return it or not.
That's a manufacturing defect. Return it.
Return it.
Feel so gutted after waiting a month! Will email Google. Only problem is that i don't want to wait another few weeks for another phone.

The few people Ive seen mention getting RMA replacements were getting them within a couple days, not weeks.
I would return it without a doubt.
Like everyone said-return it! It is a defect and Google will overnight you a new one
Will they send me a new phone and then ask me to return the defective one. Or will I have to send the defective one first.

Not sure how quick it is here in the UK. There were already having production issues from day one

It seems like people with problems are given priority over others. Most things I've seen said they overnight a new one to you then you return the defective one. They will put a hold on your credit card for the cost of the phone. It will never be charged unless you don't return the bad one. The money they hold won't be available to you though, until they get it back.

You will receive your replacement within two days. I've received 3 rma's
I'm rma-ing one right now. My screen has a very noticeable yellow tint compared to my friends 6P. My credit card has a hold on it. They will send out a new phone before I have to return this one so I won't be without a phone. As for shipping, the replacement was processed same day and you select what shipping options you want. To overnight it was about $20. I just did the ground 3-5 days for free. They send u a rma form and shipping label to return the old phone.
OP, yes you should. This is a legitimate manufacturing defect, one of the few I've seen posted...
I'll definitely be returning it and will try getting free next day delivery as this defect is quite bad. For something this obvious to pass quality control is beyond me.
Just had a chat with google rep and sent over the same photo. She said she cant see the defect!
She's blind. I'd RMA it.
I've sent over some more photos. Let's see what happens!
