Problem with AAHK downgrade - Desire HD General

Hello all,
After trying much with AAHK and read many many posts I still unfortunalty cannot find the right answer.
I'll explain the situation.
I have a DHD from Vodafone NL (with is the UK ROM) version 3.13.161.3 and wanted to root (for ICS).
I'vew downloaded the newest AAHK and linked the phone. So far so good.
When running the AAHK it wanted to downgrade (abvious, no problem). The it downloaded the PD98IMG-GB4.zip.
Put it on my SD card and rebooted. Then I got the revocery image with the red triangle... So, choose option 2 to try something else.
Finally it booted in HBoot, it read the image and wanted to convert to that. But, mu volume + is broken, so i cannot confirm this
So, i've tried the other suggestion of downloading a stock RRU with the right version.
This want to upload the rom, but it stall is the 'sending'mode. If i look in the RUU log it 'hangs' on the command
'fastboot -s <deviceid> flash zip <pathtozip>,rom.zip. I waited for 1 hour, then killed it. On the screen of the phone you should see a progress
bar, but on my screne only the HTC logo, nothing else
I also tried replacing the rom.zip just before sending with the .zip downloaded by aahk.
Then even tried flashing myserf with HBoot in 'fastboot USB'mode, but if keeps giving 'flashing error' or something.
My radio is still S-on, so that might be a problem??
I even tried with the HTCDev method, got a RUU from there, but even that hangs on the fastboot command.
So it seems i'm stuck....
Anyone else has a export advice for a novice like me?
Thanks,
Rene

try putting the PD98IMG-GB4.zip file you have in the PD98IMG directory in aahk, when you run the aahk script it will check that directory when it prompts for a downgrade. if it finds the correct file, it will try to use that. if not, it will download.

The PD98IMG-GB4.zip in that dir was downloaded by AAHK, so it can find it and it does.
It even put it om my SD card, after which i was stuck because the volume + button doesn't work...
But thanks anyway.

Put it on my SD card and rebooted. Then I got the revocery image with the red triangle... So, choose option 2 to try something else.

What's option 2?
I guess you didn't finish this part of the aahk script properly since your volume button is broke:
echo.
echo Starting stock recovery the first time to init....
echo.
echo Steps:
echo 1. When you see the ugly red triangle, push/hold vol-UP and then push power to start stock recovery.
echo 2. When you get to the blue stock recovery menu, choose reboot and push power.
echo.

When I was messing with somebody else's DHD I did try manually flashing the PD98IMG.ZIP that aahk downloaded and i always get a bad image error or something. Only when I did as instructed by the aahk script was I able to root the DHD successfully.

I meant the menu option. But that is from your list: I got 1: The ugly red triangle.
However, i cannot try the vomule up and push power, since that button is broken
I just tried a reflash of HBoot with option S, menu entry 5, but even that will not work. Keeps hanging while flashing...

Ah,
In another trhead found the answer how to flash a RUU for command line.
Tried it, and this worked.... Now running the hack-ace command again, and it is working.
So now waiting for root.

So, it is rooted.
Tried some ROMs, but all of them have 1 problem: 'No service'.
So, i tried the stock HTC rom, but even that says 'No service'.
Therefore, i cannot dial anymore
Even tried another SIM, but 'no networks available'.
The strange thing is: I get the 'MMS' APN pushed from the Vodafone NL network, so it seems to have some sort of connection...
What could be wrong?
Edit: seems the switching works, because the ROM (virtuous infinity 1.13.0-aplha2) warned about switching SIMs.
After reselecting my Vodafone NL i now got network and can dial again. So it seems it hat to 'settle'for a few more minutes...

Bricked via HSPL?

Hey all,
Just a little background information:
- Hard SPL'd my phone to flash Dutty's cooked ROM.
- All of a sudden one day, the phone switched off. I tried to boot it up but it will freeze on the HTC loading screen where it displays the radio version, ROM version in red down the bottom - the phone would not go any further.
- My computer won't even recognise it when I plug in my USB.
Anyway, I figured I'd try to uninstall HSPL and start over again. I downloaded an official HTC ROM, tried to load into the bootloader and now I'm stuck.
The screen reads:
Upgrade ROM code error
Please try again
If I pull out the battery/SD card, it will load into this screen again.
What *I THINK* may be the issue is that I didn't use the original ROM SPECIFIC to my phone, i.e. WWE Asian ROM.
I've updated the ROM image on my SD card but I can't get into the original bootloader to start the uninstallation process again.
Help!
Ok, nice and calm, are you sure you can't get into bootloader mode?
Power off, sim and sd card out (just to be sure)
hold volume down, tap power, continue to hold volume down.

I can get into the bootloader just fine.
It will display the error message and I can't do anything.
OK, so if you can get to the 3 coloured screen, you can just flash HSPL (if it isn't still installed) and flash a new rom.
Boot to bootloader(3 coloured screen), connect to computer, run HSPL.exe

My computer refuses to connect to the phone.
I'll plug in my USB cable, windows will make the connection sound but the phone won't load into Windows Explorer.
What does it say by the spl? 1.42.0000? or 1.42.HSPL?
Actually it doesnt matter, when you hear the connection sound, thats enough, Run HSPL.exe, and if its not already installed, it should install, if it is already installed it will say 'hspl requires 1.42.000' or something.
Either way, you can then go ahead and flash a new rom.

No, it doesn't work.
When I run HSPL.exe, it says it can't find my phone.
I already have HSPL installed with a custom ROM.
The phone is stuffed whereby I couldn't get past the HTC logo screen - it just freezes there.
I tried uninstalling HSPL thinking this would solve my problem with no luck.
The phone boots into the bootloader with an error message that I can't seem to get around.
Ah ok, so you get the error message on the 3 coloured screen? If that is the case, then spl itself is corrupt.
I thought you got the error message when the phone tried to boot, my mistake.
Next to try then is to find the original rom that came on your phone, and flash it from sd card, and hopefully it will overwrite the spl. It must be the correct rom for your provider and region, though.
If that doesn't work, then i'm afraid all I can do is wish you best of luck.

I think this is where I went wrong.
I tried uninstalling HSPL with a ROM that wasn't from my region which is why I'm getting these errors.
Surely there's a way around this?
If you can find your original rom, there is a good chance you will be fine, OR you can probably try the goldcard route, however i'm not 100% so i wouldnt go handing over cash (goldcard isn't free) until you are sure.
Do you know what rom you are looking for?

I'm sure my phone's original rom was the WWE Asian version from Hong Kong.
I've uploaded the ROM onto my SD card but I can't get the bootloader to load it.
As stated before, I used another ROM at first and then it crashed on me.
Everytime I start the bootloader, it won't let me load the Asian ROM from scratch.
It just displays the error with no way around it.
Hmm, ok, just a couple of last thoughts then i gotta go to bed.
1 - sd card formatted fat32
2 - some people have better luck with 2gb cards than with bigger ones.
3 - Was the phone bought direct unlocked from HTC or is there a chance its provider locked? (i.e are you REALLY SURE you have the right rom)
4 - RUU_Signed.nbh coppied to sd card and renamed leoimg.nbh
Gotta go, best of luck.
ok. u are getting error in bootloader? what exacly is the error message you are getting..
Hard Reset
I had a similar problem to this and a hard reset solved the problem. Did you try a hard reset? I think its press volume up and volume down and power simultaneously.

Even that won't work!
Confirmed hard reset but pressing "Volume Up", then the screen blacks out immediately and nothing happens.
When I press the "power on" button, all I see is an exclamation mark for a second then a black screen.
I think the solution is for you to try flashing to HSPL again.
1. Boot to bootloader mode by pressing Vol down key and click the Power button. You should get the tri colour screen, and the word "Serial" on the bottom.
2. Plug in the USB cable to your PC. The word "Serial" should then change to "USB".
3. Run hspl.exe as administrator.
I did the same as you previously when I tried to load the SEA 1.66 ROM on my Hong Kong English phone, and recovered it by using the above steps. I had to run HSPL 3 times before it worked. The first 2 times, it would seem to work as I'd get the "We Hacked it!" message, but when I rebooted the phone to the bootloader, it still wasn't HSPL. Only on the 3rd try, did it successfully load HSPL to the bootloader.
-edit-
You can download the original Hong Kong CSL ROM from a link in this thread.
got to say, if in doubt - goldcard it!!!
what is your spl version now? 1.42.0000 or 1.42.hspl '?
only bootloader is never a problem with hspl installed.
only bootloader is no problem with original spl version as long as you have a compatible stock rom.
\I wonder whether the phone would connect to computer properly.
After plenty of reading around, I've finally fixed the issue!
It was the easiest of all fixes - all I had to do was to download the original factory ROM the phone came with (.exe file) and run the executable with the phone plugged in via USB.
Thanks to all those who have tried to help.

Yes I tried MANY MANY times using the PC. But it still gets stuck. And now its stuck at "SOFTWARE UPDATE FAILED"
How do I force install from MicroSD?
1. go here to get the latest official ROM:
http://dl.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobileUS/DeviceDownloads.aspx?pid=leo
2. Unzip the download and find the .nbh file. Rename it LEOIMG.nbh.
Put this file on the root of the storage card (the stock 16gb that came with the phone won't work). I recommend buying a 10 dollar sandisk 2gb for flashing.
3. Put the phone into bootloader mode. Easiest way to get into bootloader: press the reset button under the back cover followed by immediately holding the vol down rocker. Bootloader is the funny looking tricolored screen. It should stop on the screen for a couple of seconds, then jump to a grey screen that asks if you want to perform the update. Press the red end call button (power) to start or vol down to cancel.
That should do it. It should start installing. If not, I'm not sure what else can be done. This method will also "relock" the phone so you can't install any custom ROMs unless you hspl unlock again.
Good Luck

I tried an old Nokia 2GB card, it just goes to the screen where it says Serial. It's not recognizing a rom on the card. It also says "Update ROM code error. Please try again" it happened after I installed the last ROM on this list: http://www.vbnfiles.com/xda/xmoo/Leo/TMOUS/ since it had the most downloads.

Are you getting that error when trying to flash from the card or from a computer via usb?
IF you get a ROM code error that means it is trying to flash it. I would go to the website I listed. It has you enter the S/N for the phone so you know it is the right Stock ROM.
p.s. Is it a tmobile branded hd2?

yeah its a T-Mo HD2, and yes that's where I got the ROM after entering my IMEI #, it gives some other error on PC, and gets stuck at 8%. Also, while flashing that ROM it wasn't connected to Device Center, since the PC wouldn't recognize it.
I called T-MO and they are sending me a brand new one, anything I can do in the meantime?

if you have to send this one back to them, it needs to be stock or bricked.
Once you get the new hd2, I would try to flash a .51 radio onto the one you need to send in. That will brick it so they can't see that is not stock.

same way you flash a ROM, either through usb or from SD card:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
Download a .51 radio and extract the .nbh file, rename it LEOIMG.nbh and put it on the storage card, enter bootloader, if it will flash, voila; instant brick!
I would only do this if they want the old one sent in and you can't get a stock ROM on it.

[HELP] HTC HD2 cant boot after hard reset or hard reset failed

hi guys..
please help me .. i flash my HTC HD2 with a MAGDLR111 and after it doesnt continue to boot and only stock in boot image. i try to use Hard Reset (holding down the up and down botton and tapping the power button), it response very quick but it says the "restore completed and press up botton to reboot" and so i did but still, it still stock up in boot image forever.. please help me, what should i do..thanks
Possibly a radio problem. Boot pressing volume down button to get into bootloader and flash a radio WITHOUT .51. in its name....
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
thanks, already did... and it works.. )))
hey i have that same problem now can you help me get a radio so i can download it or can even help me through the steps to get back my phone to normal plzzz.? thank you
Any new user most definitely has a lot of questions...
Here is a thread you should carefully check - it explains some basic stuff, and it offers links to many other specific threads, incl. Radio ROM.
To return to "normal" ROM, please just check the standard flashing process. You can flash via USB or SD card, whatever ROM you like, stock or custom.
Hey man thanks for all that but i really don't want just any rom, i wanna know if anyone can get me the rom that comes with the phone for windows mobile 6.5, you know with the orange load screen etc, i really dummy in this thing and i should not of even played fast to go try flashing my HTC HD2 with a MAGDLR111.
so i've tried various roms and everyone of them was going great unitl step 2 in the upgrade process, it kept saying error filr open, check update rom utility. where do i go from here?
It is quite difficult to help if there is so little basic information available.
The error you mention can have a simple reason. Usually, the ROM image file name is simply not correct.
To flash via USB:
There are 2 options:
First, you can take an original RUU of your network operator (in case you have a branded phone) or HTC, put the phone into boot loader mode (see below), start the RUU.exe on your PC.
Second, you can extract the original RUU.exe with WinRar or a similar program, take the .nbh file and rename it to leoimg.nbh.
Once you take an image of the ROM, you have to put it into the very same folder where your ROM update software is (LeoCustomRUU, SSPL, whatever). One more time, please check the suffix, it should be .nbh, as in "leoimg.nbh".
Keep in mind: Do start the RUU software as "Admin" - whichever you choose.
Instead of the original ROM, you can flash custom ROMs, too - since your device must have HSPL installed when you used WP7 or Android before.
If you´ve got issues (because of Win 7 on your PC or such), please try to put your device into bootloader mode before connectint it to the PC (turn off the device, push vol. down and power at the same time, the multi color bootscreen should appear, only now connect it to the PC).
To flash via SD card:
Re-format your SD card FAT32. Don´t put anything else on it. Copy the ROM image file with the exact naming as above on the SD card.
To start the flash process, do the same as above, go into bootloader mode, the flash process will start - just follow the on-screen instructions.
i have this same problem only it happened without me flashing anything or something like that. i dont have custom rom or hspl. everything is stock. what should i do?
bump ^^

[Q] Returning to original firmware (HTC Magic)

Hi,
I have a HTC Magic (32A)(Rogers) with some custom Hero firmware. Since I bought the phone used with it I don't exactly know what firmware this is, but it's 1.5 Android.
As there is an official 2.1 firmware for the Rogers HTC Magic I would like to that one rather than another custom firmware.
I have installed HTC Sync and the official firmware .exe install. It recognizes the phone to be correct (even though it has a Hero rom on it) and wants to reboot the phone for the install. However that pops up the fastloader with "RUU USB" in orange. None of the buttons allow me to select that or do anything else and after a while the installer just times out.
Do you guys know how I can get around that fastloader issue?
Many thanks in advance!
Assuming you have the right CID, you can run the RUU without connecting the phone and, before clicking any button inside the RUU, look in your Temp folder for a file called rom.zip. Copy this file to your phone's SD card and rename it to sappimg.zip. Power off your phone and boot it by holding down back and power. It should recognize the image and ask if you want to update.
See this post http://lukasz.szmit.eu/2010/04/extracting-rom-files-from-htc-android.html for details.

I was trying to install blackSTONEhengeHyPerSlim_4_1 on my blackstone. I installed olinex and after that stored the nbh and exe file on the sd card and then through task 29 flashed it. The rom got successfully installed but now the phone is stuck at the bootup. It says
Checking Radio...

Checking Rom..
But now won't get to the next screen.Because of this i can't get to active sync. Please help..Pleaaaasseee
Did u follow the instructions completely, cause it worked fine for me and others... Do you have radio 1.14 or above installed? Did u try to reflash?
ok, no need to worry. Boot into bootloader. What is your SPL?
Yes i did follow the instructions. Now the phone won't bootup. I tried it with the volume down and power up method. Rom does get installed but then again it won't bootup..
Did you try Vol UP + Vol Down + Power ?
Yes i did try that after my phone got screwed up with test29 method but it shows nothing at all after successfully installing rom..:-s
no need to worry
always read read read and must read before flashing. I think your phone is quite ok. You does task29 to it. what is task 29 means. it means task29 will clean our device completely only splash screen displyaed, phone always stucked on this screen. it is very normal, it means you completyely cleaned your device. now you are ready to flash your device. do the following procedure--
1. remove the battery and reinsert it.
2. now turn on the phone while pushing volume down key.
then bootloader (tricolor screen) mode will be displayed. many times it will not come into bootloader and device normally starts and stuck on splash screen. the reason is simple, you didnt press volume down key properly, it happend many times to me also.
Now remove battery cover, remove battery and reinsert it, dont cover the battery, now take slylus & press volume down strip with the stylus. ( volume up & down keys are installed in battery cover, so when you push volume down key in flap open condition, it should be done by stylus.)
ok
push volume down by stylus & hold it and start the device, it will come in tricolor screen means bootloader mode, on the bottom screen it will show serial.
Now conect the device to the pc & bottom line on the screen will become serial to USB.
Now perform task28= means flash normal rom, do not perform task 29 again.
task29 will take 1 minute to flash while normal RUU will take about 7-8 minute.
try it and give feedback/

Have you flashsed a differnet radio ?
What you did is just Task29 your phone. Task29 needs something to flash in order to do its thing. Usually we flash radios (good ones obviously) because they are smaller than full roms. If you flash a full rom with Flash29, it will get erased after completion.
What you need to do now (since your phone now has no ROM installed) is boot it while pressing volume down to get to the bootloader, plug via USB and flash a rom using a "non-task29" flasher, like the standard BlackStoneCustomRUU.exe file that comes with basically every rom.
Hello thanks for replying my internet wasn't working but i did manage to boot my phone but now the touch stops working after. I know this as i press the volume button and the phone responds to that hence telling me it's not really freezed up. This is all what i did.

Now i flashed again with (blackSTONEhengeHyPerSlim_4_1)
After installing it completely the touch stops responding.

Yes that one is fine. Once T29 is complete take out battery and then re-insert it. Now put phone into bootloader (hold vol down and press power on while still holding vol down. BOOTLOADER IS A TRI-COLOUR SCREEN).
Now flash your rom
i also flashed blackstonhenge hyperslim 4.6 and now touchscreen stopped working....any solution...
