This happens every day. I leave the tablet off and when I try to switch it on, it won't turn on. At this point the tablet feels warm to the touch.
The only thing I can do is hold down the power button until it resets. After this the battery shows that it has been using power. Like for instance, this morning I had not used it, picked it up after about 3 hours and it was warm. Would not turn on, rebooted and the battery was now showing 80% left. Then this afternoon, same again and now 46%.
I have not used it more than 10 mins in total this morning and today.
It looks like something is keeping it alive but I can't work out what it is yet. Any ideas appreciated?
Dave...
Try take out sim card or sd card. Get better battery stats n take a look.

Thanks. I'll give it a try without the SIM first. The MicroSD card has all my stuff on it.

Since I have got it (2 weeks ago) i have picked up my phone make a call, and on about 7-8 occasions, have noticed that the phone is turned off, and I can't get it to turn on. The only solution is to take out the battery and put it back in. Has anyone else experienced this. I have updated to JH2 firmware, but it still happens. I even got a new battery for the phone (Bell employee let me swap with another phone that was going back to samsung for gps issues), but the problem still happens once in awhile (like every 2 days, sometimes more sometimes less). Anyone have any ideas? thanks
UPDATE: Someone mentioned for me to call my phone the next time this happens to see if it rings. They said it might stuck in sleep mode? Not sure, i just pullthe battery and then it works
I've had this happen, but only when the GPS was on. If it's happening with the GPS off, I'm guessing you've got a lemon.
So far I've not needed to take the battery out, though. I've always been able to reboot by holding the power button down for 5-10 seconds instead.
Yes I have been experiencing the same problem. From what I can see, it seems like the phone is over heating then it locks up. My only fix was to install a battery temperature monitor and also kill any tasks that are not needed by the phone. My phone hasn't locked like that since I've been doing that.

I have not had this problem. Been on a call for about 1-2 hours one time and the phone was fine. I was able to switch it to speaker, bluetooth, open other apps, and etc without any problems. I don't run task managers. I do have one, but I rarely use it.
Interesting...I experienced this for the first time today. Picked up my phone from teh night stand after having it plugged in all night and it was off. Had to pull the battery to get it to come on. The battery was about 85% charged when it came back on. It worked ok since but the battery drained kinda quick. I am using an aftermarket battery, got the 2 batts and charger on ebay. So I put the other battery in and havn't had any issues. I wonder if it over heated while charging? What apps are you guys running? The one I am running that would be most suspect would be weatherbug elite, and I just installed it a day or 2 before this happened.
I think it is a GPS issue. I got this phone on the first day of release. I’ve never had this problem until just days ago. I hadn't used the GPS extensively before last Thursday and Friday. During my business trip I had the GPS on for almost two days straight and during these two days I experienced the blank screen, shut down twice. I had to cycle the battery to get it to boot.
I had this happen to me while using Set CPU. Check out this thread. http :// forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=727006
take out spaces and what not.
I had this problem on my g1 but it started to get worst an I soon need too keep my mobile always connected to a charger so out turned into a landline phone lol but it was because I somehow broke a middle cell in my battery and need replacing but I don't know what to say about yours cause you tried a different battery :S

Experienced a freeze just a few hours ago while running the navigate application.
Trying to show my wife how uber cool it was and all. Switched on GPS, launched maps, chose directions, method / navigate. GPS locked and had my location pinned down until I reached the corner and suddenly the GPS kicked me to a location about 5 blocks away then froze the phone, requiring a battery pull and reboot.

Hey all,
I'd like to know if there will soon be a better battery available for the HTC HD mini. I looked for it, but as 1200mAh is the default battery, I haven't found a better one... Someone has ideas?
Thanks in advance
MadMatt
Hi all, Monday i got my hd mini finally. It appeared that a micro sd card was not included. To bad. First thing i did was to configure the device and installed my necessary apps. Even tomtom was working well. In the meanwhile i had fully loaded the battery. Afterwards i was testing the device if everything worked well. This was the case alright. In the evening i went to sleep and i noticed the battery was 70% full. I went to sleep and turned off the device. The alarm i had preconfigured so i would wake up. Now the strange thing happened. The device woke me up as planned. But afterwards the device went off. Switching the device on only leaded to a screen with the green letters HTC for a few seconds and immediatly the device went off. I have tryed to switch on the device several times and all the times the device went off immediatly. Now i have searched the manual and maybe the battery was already empty. LOL. Impossible i thought. I put the device on the loader and the light was continuous orange. After a few seconds it blinked for a while and then it was continuous orange again. So maybe it could be a battery problem here. Impossible cause the battery was 70% when i went to sleep and the very next morning it would be empty? Anyway, now i will load the device for some hours and then try to put it on again. Lets see what will happen for ****sake.
hello,
don't be too bothered on this, it will take a couple of days to get decent usage from standard battery. Mine took 3-4 cycles now is holding about 2.5 - 3 days - first cycle was not more that one day.
as for better battey, check this out, maybe is worthy for you, i ordered one but will come to my place in three weeks time.. anyway i hope for the best as it should be a 40% improvement.. hopefully.

watch for the two XX in the header, can not post the external link, as is..
Ok. This is extremely wierd.
So unplug my phone off the charger in the morning use it a bit. 1hr later I feel it burning a hole in my pocket. Its extremely hot, I take it out and try turning it on but the screen wont turn on. Battery pull and its fine.
Go to battery history and the battery life vertical dropped 15% in that time.
Happens 1 to 2 times a day. Any idea whats wrong?
Thanks
Sighhhhhhh ...... the case:
- Playing Haning with Friends (Zynga) with phone plugged into charger
- Fell asleep, left game on screen
- woke up next morning, phone was hot enough to burn
- turned off, removed battery etc, allowed phone to cool.
- turned back on, so far (it's been about 4 hours since I woke up) phone randomly goes off
- doesn't seem to be linked to any particular activity or time frame - within 5 - 15mins it goes off, sometimes on a call it goes off
Is it a lost cause? :crying: Or something that I can do to fix it? Or something that will correct itself with time? Change the battery perhaps (though all the battery monitors say battery is fine hrmph!)
Opinions will be really appreciated.
Cheers,
Mex.

I'd try to change battery. You should find cheap ones online easily.
What about taking pictures with flash? My phone dies from time to time because of its (supposed) dead battery when taking pictures or when ringing.
Surprisingly enough, there are A LOT of battery threads in these days.. it's obviously a conspiracy
Maybe ur battery is completely dead?
Battery juice might have all burnt out.
My laptop dies 5 minutes after I unplug the charger.

Does the phone turns itself off even when pluged in?
If yes, then maybe its a hardware problem
If not, its definetely a battery's problem. In this case, try running complete discharging and charging cyrcles (2%->100%) and leave it pluged in for 8-12 hours, even if it says fully charged.
Any signs of swelling on the battery?
And when your phone goes off randomly.. What is its temperature like? I mean does it get hot and then turn off?
Thanx for all the feedback.
I discovered a couple of hours later that it is indeed the battery.
Doesn't go off when plugged in.
Battery monitors say the battery is fine but it can hop, step skip from 30% to 9% in a short whatsapp chat.
No bulging or heating, just goes off
On the up side I guess its a blessing that its not a hardware issue.
New battery it is then... What are the chances of successfully suing Zynga for the replacement lol, the game should come with a warning!!!
Tnx.
Mex.
Yesterday I returned my N7 device because it won't turn on despite having around 80% on the battery the night before. I woke up in the morning to find that it won't boot anymore. I tried all methods like holding the sleep and volume down button for 30+ seconds, plugging it to the wall, and connecting to my laptop. I went back to the store to have it looked at, and since it has only been 10 days since I purchased it, they agreed to replace it with an available unit in their stock.
Now, with my new device, everything is well except that the battery gives inaccurate reading on the up time. The battery status/graph shows how long your device has been on battery, but fails to reset after charging. Suppose I have been using it for 22 hours, if you go to the battery details, it will show 22 hours of use, however, I believe that if you charge it, it will be set back to zero. In this case though, it continues from where it left off. Same with the screen time, it should be reset back to 0 after prolonged period of idle time, however, it continues from previous use.
Is there any way to fix this so I may get an accurate data on my battery activity? Thank you.

One way is to download an app called ROM toolbox and then go to ROM management>Management tab>Wipe options>Wipe battery stats.
I'm not sure if it requires root.
Thank you. I'm sure to try this out. Do you have any idea why it's acting up?

Well I can't really say since I haven't faced such a bug till now. But I think doing a hard reset fixes the issue because it's software related.(if the first method didn't work)

It depends on your charging behavior. If you unplug it at 85%, for instance, then it should not be reset. Same with screen time.

Ah yes, exactly. I charged it again to full all the way and it did reset the status monitoring. Thank you!
