Is it legal? I want to try it before I spend my 40 in October..... Mainly because, since I am young...THAT'S ALL THE MONEY I HAVE!

Obviously not. If you download software using torrents et. al. make a good guess on whether this would be legal.

It's a 30 trial without a key, after 30 days it'll take to to the windows store and tell you to buy it (changed the vm date for shots and giggles to check). So I would say its pretty damn legal (aslong as the activation isn't hacked)

I have PRO installed and fully activated with my VLSC key. I am having grief mind with the AMD Catalyst drivers installing and for some reaosn i cant add more email aco****s like i could in the preview. That said though the pro leak at least seems ok.

At CES 2012, Microsoft officially announced that next version of Windows to be called Windows 8. Yesterday Microsoft officially Microsoft Unveiled Windows 8 Logo Windows 8 logo. Here in this article we will cover detailed post on Windows 8 release date which will be constantly updated.

waiting windows 8
lookes like Windows Phone 7
Windows 7 is still a strong OS, a few improvements here and there would be nice, but Windows 8 isn't needed yet, especially since it's aimed at touch input machines which still aren't cheap enough the average household.
If it ain't broke, Don't fix it Micro$oft!
Polish that hideous abortion you call MetroUI for another 12 months otherwise it's going to be another Windows *gulp* Vista.....(swallows vomit)

Announcing the Windows 8 Editions

Thank God. Only two editions to chose for x86/64 devices and one for ARM devices.
Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro are for x86/64, while WindowsRT will be for gizmos running on ARM.

Hey... I thought there would be two versions Windows 8 M (Metro UI) Edition and Windows 8 N (Normal-Human-User Friendly) Edition... ROTFL
Actually there are 3 editions, that link is misleading.
Read through, and you'll see there's regular, pro, AND enterprise. But only those two will be available to consumers. Just like vista and 7, enterprise will only be available in volume licensing.

Clearly you have not been following the Win 8 much.
I was really happy to see this, with one exception: That Media Center will only be available to Pro. What the **** were they thinking? Make the goddamn thing available to either version, even if you charge a fee for it. Jesus Christ.
Other than that, I'm happy to see Windows 8 consolidating editions and simplifying choices. I'll be preordering licenses as soon as they announce an early adopter deal

as a matter of fact i have not... i tried early leaked released and was pretty much fine with developer preview... but i hate metroui and would definitely not upgrade in case they decide to keep the start menu removed as they did in consumer preview... its simply not for non-touch screen devices..

Golden opportunity for Intel and AMD!

And maybe for people who want Windows 8 tablets.
I've been thinking about this one. Windows 8 RC1 (or whatever the new name is supposed to be) is supposed to be out the first week of June.
A smart x86 chip manufacturer could begin shipping tablet computers at that point. They can't ship Windows 8, but according to reports from Paul Thurott and others the Windows 8 upgrade is cheap. Something like $15. http://www.winsupersite.com/blog/supersite-blog-39/windows8/windows-8-pro-pc-upgrade-cost-15-143077Windows 8 Pro PC Upgrade Cost is Just $15.
Eventually Microsoft will announce a free upgrade date as they always do. "Any purchase of Windows 7 after xx/xx/xxx will qualify for a free upgrade."
The big opportunity here is for x86 tablet makers to be able to bring their product to market 4+ months ahead of the ARM versions.
Buy a Win 7 tablet the first week of June, install the Win 8 RC1 for free and upgrade later for at most $15.
The ARM has to ship with the OS installed and has to wait until October.
If I was a vendor of x86 machines I'd be salivating at the opportunity to get ahead of the market. Nothing illegal going on. Still just selling a device that Microsoft says will be compatible (a Windows 7 PC will be compatible with the Windows 8 OS). Microsoft is making the OS available to the public in June, why wait to make the hardware available? The consumer preview was over 1,000,000 downloads on a quick search. People obviously aren't afraid to install the OS themselves.
Just a thought. Would you buy a x86 based Windows 7 tablet in June if the features were right and the price was right?
I don't want windows 8, personally, I think this would be great. A nice thin, light ivy bridge windows 7 tablet would be awesome for me.
Or maybe the lava xolo could run windows 7. I'm keeping an eye on the forums to see if any enterprising devs try this hehe.

there is a fundamental flaw in your suggestion
you are wanting manufactures to ship Win 8 hardware now with win 7 on it to allow an upgrade at a later date?
ok but what you have forgotten is that right now, every OEM out there is scrambling to shift as much dead stock of older Win 7 generation as they can before it is completely devalued.
The only OEMs that would do as your suggesting is new starts without Win7 hardware, or OEMs that have already sold out, the latter is extremely unlikely.
But even then you need to take in to account devices already in the supply chain, Mega PC shop who still has 1000s of units wont want to push newer ones if the older ones will get left to gather dust, they have already paid for these devices and sure as hell wont want to waste that money.
So its a nice idea, but its a bit ideological.

which is the latest and most complete version or windows 8 released?

there've been a lot of windows 8 versions before it's official release, which is the most similar to the official release to download in my notebook?
If you have access to tech net or dreamspark premium then you can get the rtm in its various flavors (I think my school only offers professional) already. This is the final build and is what you get if you buy (or "buy") it on release day.

Windows 8 RTM..but you can get it only if you have technet subscription.....otherwise you can not activate RTM..all the KMS servers are down right now...hence you can try win8 release preview ver8400...rtm is 9200.
You can also get it by VLC. Also you can get a 90 day free trial but you then have to uninstall and build again with a proper copy after the 90 days, but this is a good way to try it and almost all settings etc get uploaded to your live account.
One of the kms, well not Microsoft is online. Just activated.

If you youtube around you can find keys for Pro and ProWMC that work with the phone activation, I am fully activated, no 180 days, fully activated, on Windows 8 ProWMC with a key i found on youtube
So if I get the version off of dreamspark this is the same as buying retail?

Windows 8.1 New Version or Big Update?

Hi,
is there something know if Windows Blue will be a new Version you need to buy, or if Microsoft brings Christmas forward and all Win 8 users get the new Update??
For PC it doesn't matter for me, i'll get the new 8.1 but for Surface??
Also it would be nice to know if a complete reinstalle is necessary.
Would be great if someone has some Information about this

Almost surely it won't require a complete reinstall. The are going to bring back the Start Menu in a limited form. It will just be a link to the desktop and not include the full Start Menu. This follows a planned move: a boot to desktop option. Microsoft will add an option to allow users to boot directly to the traditional desktop.

That sounds great. I'm really looking forward to the 50:50 dock
8.1 is interesting. Per MS' new "devices & services" direction, it would've been a paid update in normal circumstances--as also denoted by the "8.1" designation, since only "service packs" were free updates under the old regime. But I agree with others that it'll be a free update, as circumstances are definitely not normal. Win8's foothold is tenuous at best, and the antipathy it has engendered would be nothing compared to the sh!tstorm that would occur if MS decides to charge for this one. I doubt even MS is that oblivious.
As for the "menu or button" thing, it's not cast in stone. We'll see what happens. It may seem a little amusing that such a trivial change is even debated over, but that is how delicately Metro's fate hangs in the balance.
I like the turmoil. Turbulence is good, as it rouses the monopolist and forces it to compete on other than sheer inertia (which there still is plenty of). That usually means a better widget or a better price, and either way the consumer wins.
It's safe to guess that Wintel toys will be cheaper come this holiday season. That would not happen if Win8 was a breakout hit. Thank Apple for its trailblazing, Android for its lowballing, and MS for its usual ineptness. Tomorrow is another fun day.

Not just Pro. Also RT.. But if you upgrade to 8.1 on your RT device you will lose your legacy apps meaning you would have to wait for another jailbreak for it.
Thanx

The update is greater than 9mb, the 9mb file from the store is just the installer, the installer then downloads something like a gb or so on top of that.
