I ordered a device from Currys UK last week however it had the screen raise issue so I got a refund on it.
Decided to order with Tesco for collection @ store tomorrow. I'm just wondering has anyone had one from Tesco and the device has been totally perfect?
Cheers
1 dead pixel but that's it. And I can't notice it unless I run the dead pixel test app. My wife called me sad for even testing it
Very happy with it. Got £10 off, quidco and double club card points. Cash back.

You have no screen separation at all?
I received my nexus from Tesco on Saturday morning and can say mine is perfect. Checked all the "common" issues and my device shows no signs of them! I hope yours is the same!
The only issue I had was the cancellation of my first order due to stock running out...glad I ordered again the day after, I love it
I got mine last friday. I have one dead pixel I noticed today. I did notice a slight screen seperation too but that wasn't a big deal.
The dead pixel however, is annoying. I may return it for a new one.
I ordered from Tesco and have screen separation (screen lifted on the left side and make clicking noise). Which for some strange reason seems to have sorted itself since I pushed it back down after watching a movie. But i still rang, they have a replacement coming for me tomorrow and I simply give the courier my old device.
Mine is perfect from tesco, screen OK, display ok. rooted and running tablet mode without changing the dpi.

Request a new device dude, you didn't pay for one dead pixel. More could follow down the road, you never know.

I think i will be ordering from Tesco instead of PC World/currys if the standard of their units seems to be good. I will be ordering from Tesco Direct though, too lazy to go and get it
Just received my replacement and it has screen lift straight out the box. Also the courier said he didn't have to paper work to take my old device back . So now I have 2 devices both with manufacturing errors, time to ring up Tesco again
Picked up my 7 yesterday. One very happy owner.
No dead pixels whatsoever.
No screen lift, but if I press really hard on left side,a very slight creak is heard.
I didn't even notice it until I tried to press on the left side.
Don't think it will be a problem but,if it gets worse,I'll use my 12 month guarantee.
Two issues...
-Faint ghosting, not as bad as some people have had though.
-Screen lift, but it's a tiny amount.
In both cases I can cope with how it is right now, but am concerned one or the other will get worse. Obviously returns are easier in the first 28 days due to the no quibble returns policy.
Maybe I should just be happy that everything else appears to work.
Hello guys, I am located in NJ until the 20th of Aug. and would really like to purchase a N7 in order to take back with me to the Caribbean. I would like to know when and where should I buy my N7 in order to receive a Perfect non defective unit knowing how picky I am about my devices and since I will be out of the country I won't have the privileges of returning it back in case it fails later on.
Please school me on this!

I'd suggest ordering from the Play Store, it seems like the newest batch of devices is shipping from there with few to no problems.
Head over to a brick and mortar store and buy it at the store - inspect it while you're there to ensure it's in perfect condition. Problem solved.
Hopefully that suffices
Lol, serious advice please!

While there's no guarantee you'll receive "a perfect device," you should be able to get a very good one either way. I picked up a 16 GB N7 at Office Depot on Wednesday, and there's a very, and I mean a VERY small amount of screen separation on the left side (you have to look at it under a magnifying glass in bright light to see it), but nothing else. Absolutely no light bleed, no issues with the touch-screen, and no creaking. It's every bit as solid as my iPad in build quality.
You can try the Play Store, but I prefer a brick-and-mortar store where I can quickly return it if need be.
I got my 16 GB second wave from the play store, no problems

It's hard to go wrong, something like Staples or Office Depot. Open it right after you purchase it and you can tell if the screen separation is there at least, have one pass inspection on the exterior is a start.
Take it home, inspect it, check it out immediately, and exchange it right then if there's problems.
My 3rd unit I waited until new stock arrived at local MacMall retail store by checking their web site's live stock status. Asked the sales guy to help grab me the highest SSN from new stock. Unfortunately, 1st SSN C70KBC168XX had screen flicker. I asked him to fetch me a 2nd from different batch and SSN C70KBC163XX was perfect except for fingerprints but that wiped off easily. Bring your hotspot so you can activate on the spot and don't forget to do a factory reset on the imperfect unit. Only bad thing about MacMall is they charge a $6 Erecycling fee which Staples, B&H and others don't charge but it's a small price to pay for the perk of being able to swap out for a perfect unit on the spot.
Thanks fir the help guys, I will try staples and see if they received a new batch. If it comes in faulty I will return it and order from the play store.

Had a chat with google and now I'm getting my 2nd replacement device sent over to me(third N4 overall). Everything was great, phone didn't get too hot, battery was fine, no yellow screen, touch sensitivity just how I like it, but...the phone emits this high pitched ringing sound through earpiece while on a call(almost like ringing in the ears). This reminds me too much of my experience that I had a few years back with the MT4G. Just as that took two tries before I got a phone, I hope this does too.
Anyways, those of you who have had to replace your phone, how many times did you end up replacing your N4 before you got a good device?

My screen has bleeding aswell.. I bought it from carphonewarehouse on the 25th and went on holiday on the 28th for two weeks.
Im still away at the moment and I'm not sure if I want to risk getting another one that is even worse.
I'm not even sure if I can get a replacement.. I don't know their policy

Meh that sucks. Im going to take the risk and ask google a RMA. The bleeding comes from 3 sides of the screen and its noticable with autobright when watching videos on dark rooms.
Hope you can change it, it should be included.

So.. went out today and got a replacement.. checked it before I got it replaced... once i went outside i forgot i didnt put it to full brightness and it was even worse than the one i just had. That shop only had one available so i went to another one.
Asked a guy that worked there if he had any in stock. He said yes. He then asked me is it an upgrade etc, i said no.. its a replacement. He then started running around and started making "oh" sounds and after a bit he said its been placed on hold for another customer.. BS of course. I couldnt really do nothing after that.. i tried.
He said he can check the other stores.. he did and he found one that had it.. only 10mins away.
Got to that store and the phone was 98% perfect. It just had a little screen bleeding. I knew by now all of them will have it so i exchanged it again.
After getting in the car i looked at it more and was very happy.. then my eye caught something. It looked like a dead/stuck pixel, chip on the inner side of the glass or something else. It could only be seen if you tilt the phone around but... im the kind of guy that wants it to be perfect and once i see something it cant be unseen. fortuning that store closed as i left it. So it was off to another one lol.
Got to that one.. they didnt have anything in stock.. and the guy said to me because they didnt explain the return policy (they did) we can refund you the full amount. So i got my moniesss and left.
Then checked in the o2 store and they showed me two of them.. both had imperfections on the silver bezel and they were a no go.
Sooooo.. gonna wait for the play store to have them back in stock... which by that time CES or MWC will show an even better phone lol. Although i want the nexus sooooo bad
I love Android and was so excited to get my N10. Mine had creaks, a little light bleed and one reboot and about 5 freezes since I've had it in the past week and it was laggy in some apps. All forgivable, but tonight it started flashing white with black on the entire screen between transitions (I was able to reproduce this by tabbing the home and apps drawer back and forth). Screen flashing and artifacts are a deal breaker.
So, is anyone successful with their RMAs? Do these issues get resolved or more like a few of the horror stories I've seen with 5-6 returns to Google.
If you RMA with Google, it's somewhat random luck (it seems) as to what kind of device you'll get next. If you RMA with Samsung, it might take a bit longer to get you device back, but it "should" be fixed (unless the problem is software-related anyway)

if you purchased from google play and its the 15 day window then call up google. They should send you a new device. If after 15 day then Samsung is the one to contact and I heard some bad stuff about that process.

Ive had my nexus 10 since Christmas and last week the volume button suddenly died on me. I called up Google and had a free RMA heading my way within 20 minutes of being on the phone. I was blown away by how awesome Google's customer service was and how nice they were.
Anyways, the RMA I received was better than the original one I had bought off of Google Play. The hardware buttons were no longer loose and are now rock solid. And my screen uniformity is 100x better than my original. I may have gotten lucky, but I'm extremely satisfied.

technically it is free
free means you dont have to pay, and you dont
they authorize the full amount, which drops off after a few days
of course its not free and you have to pay if and only if you fail to return the broken one
a "hold" is simply not the same as actually paying for the tablet
I had extremely painless (pleasant, even) experiences with RMAs through Google. However, it did take a couple tries for my issues to be resolved. My first replacement was worse than the one I was sending back, but they got it right with my second replacement. And in both cases the $499 hold on my account was released before the tablet I sent them had even been received. I'm thinking that as soon as the tracking info was updated showing the tablet was sent it was released (just speculation, but both times the holds were released within 24 hours of UPS updating the tracking info). And my phone calls were easy - less than 20 minutes each time. There have been some horror stories on here about RMAs, but not all have been bad.
My nexus 10 arrived with one speaker dead. If I pushed down on the corner the speaker was in, it would work again while I held it down. I got an rma replacement from google play and everything was working.
If your device is rooted, and you have custom recovery installed do you have to return it to stock before you can RMA it? My camera doesn't seem to work, but I haven't gotten around to RMA'ing it because I've been too busy.

I went to 100% stock before sending mine back. Just to be safe I wanted to make sure Google/Samsung didn't try to pin the issue on it having been rooted.
Ok guys, My Nexus 7 (8GB) had that issue where it dies, and will not come back on. So I called Google, and got the ball rolling on getting a replacement yesterday. I've sent mine back today, and I was reading on these, and other forums that people usually got there Tracking number same day as they ordered the replacement. I have only received a receipt, and the replacement tablet has not shipped yet.
So I'm wondering since the 8GB version isnt available for sale anymore according to Google Play will I have to wait longer. Am I panicking prematurely? Also when it does ship, is it just standard ground shipping or 2 day air?
Thanks guys, I'm going crazy without my N7. lol

It's going to be 2 days air. After you use the RMA link to make the pending purchased, you will just need to wait it to be shipped. It's gonna arrive your house in two days "only" when the device is shipped from their warehouse. You just need to be patience. As long as you order the replacement, it will come to you.

Ok so I can expect it to take longer because they no longer sell the 8GB version, right? I placed my order on the 13th, and the receipt email says its going to be a new 8GB. I wonder how they will get an 8GB if all they make now is 16GB and 32GB? lol
Also I shipped my defective tablet off, and it has already reached its destination. Will this perhaps speed things up?
I really need my tablet asap. ;-(
Still hasnt shipped. I ordered on the 13th, and today is the 15th. Should I call?
You'll probably get a refurbished 8gb model. I'm sure they have a stockpile of those.
