Hi,
I am wondering if anybody has similar problems with wifi - 3g/data connection works perfectly, but when I am connected over wifi, after sometime the connection dies and I have to disable wifi and enable it again, in order to restore network access. I hoped that froyo would fix that, but as there is no froyo on the horizon I decided to ask.
The phone firmware is 2.1 update1
Software number 2.05.405.2

Yes I get this too. The connection is still active but many apps suddenly decide to notify me that I need a WiFi/3G connection before I can use them. Turning WiFi off and back on fixes it. This also happens on my branded Desire running 2.1, which may imply it is related to the router settings. I will have to test on other routers. My WLAN is configured to 802.11g only, WPA2-PSK only (WPA-PSK and 802.11b not allowed) on channel 13.
actually great to know that i'm not the only one. i get this all the time, and i even emailed htc about this and response was retarded. they told me how to connect to my router. i tried pretty much everything on this issue. connect and reconnect, change channel from 13 to 11 or 14, nothing seems to be working. hopefully 2.2 will change all this.

i think the htc legend has the worst wifi reception for all phones of 300 $
havent noticed a single improvement with every update
I had this problem with my first legend. The touch screen malfunctioned so I brought it back and got a replacement. The new one is much better. I am very happy with it.
For instance, in my home office I could never connect with my first legend, it would say association failed when trying to associate with the AP. On my new one it works and I've had it sitting on the desk now for about 4 hours and I picked it up and unlocked it and the wifi worked immediately.
I very occasionally had this until I switched the wifi sleep policy to never after reading somewhere that it would actually increase battery life and haven't had this problem since. Not noticed any difference with battery life though I only switch wifi on when I need it and off when I'm finished.

For what it's worth, I have the same problem and I'm sure it's related to my phone, not the routers.
I hade no problems with this before my last OTA update...

i dont want to hijack the thread but is the wifi antenna like **** for everyone or is just me?
im thinking that it might be the aluminium case that shield the antenna because reception is unbeliavable bad
im curious to know if desire/nexus mount the same wifi antenna as legend
if you put static ip it works perferct for me

I only have a problem very occasionally with wifi, maybe once per month, and I think this has more to do with my crappy router than anything else.
I have the same problem with WiFi cutting out afters while even when the phone hasn't been moved and when its situated inches from the router
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
Generally it is not good idea to have router and client too close together. That way radio noise increases and that's not good.
Thanks for the tip. but it does it downstairs too when Im watching TV the phone is well away from all electrical appliances, after toggling wifi bOFF/ON I get full signal strength.
Same here. After a few minutes normal browsing on Wifi, pages seem get so far then refuse to load. Only solution is to turn WiFi off then re-connect. The WiFi permission is set to never sleep. I'm not rooted and running stock wwe 2.3 ruu.

Same here!
Anybody have any ideas how to resolve this issue? It's really frustrating having to re-connect wifi every 5 mins. Possibly to do with debranding to stock wwe 2.3 ruu from Vodafone?

having the same issue, despite having wifi on never sleep
looking forward to getting rid of this phone once I get my htc desire z, HTC doesn't seem to care about it since the only recent OTA they released made it worse
For some reason apps on the market won't download on the download menu I get two of the same files trying to download and it says unsuccessful :s

I face the same problem?
are you with Orange?
Theres some videos out of the browser working in 3G and it seems fast, but the dificulty in obtainning 3G is something i havnt heard of yet :|
Fixed with a restart
I've been roaming outside with mine today, got a HSPDA connection constantly it was very fast on O2.
Yes, orange. I've just changed from GSM only to GSM or WCDMA and it's picked 3G up again, maybe out was as simple as that...
Another silly question. Is it not connected by usb to a pc? When it's comnected as external drive it won't show on th desire.

Today seems to have been fine... 3G and H most of the day.
Check if your wifi uses channels 12 to 14 by any chance. Those are not public domain and HTC phones won't connect to them. Change it to something between 1 and 10.
thanks VERY much you just saved me from throwing my DHD through the window, my wifi was so unstable it was impossible to use , changed to channel 8 and hey presto reliable wifi
cheers
Hi everyone.
I recently picked up an HTC Wildfire, and am quite happy with the device, but something odd I've noticed with certain versions of firmware I've tried.
The situation is that I use m.telstra.com to look at my account charges and so on. Now so far if I've used a rom which has adbd running as root, I'm unable to reach that site using the mobile browser. It just times out. (For example Cyanogen mod 6.1 and 7rc1 and other 7 nightlies.)
Though if I use say the DK sense firmware (where adbd isn't running as root) it works fine.
I'm wondering if it's just me, or something other telstra users have noticed something similar at all..
Thanks,
Ivy
I am running Cyanogen Mod v6 (something) and I can't access 0.facebook. Apparently my mobile isn't a supported network, or that my phones IP address is blocked.
i have wildpuzzle on telstra, will check when i'm around wifi and report back.
i'd do anything to avoid using there call centre

The only issue is that the m.telstra.com page is that for the data to load you have to connect via 3G. That said, it should load a page telling you this.
The odd thing, with roms that have adbd running as root, it just times out.
Thanks everyone =)

could it be an issue of the telstra wildfires, run a slightly different frequency for 3g/wcdma i think its 850/ 2100mhz( from memory) as opposed to 900/2100 and the radio that comes with cm7 is 900/2100. do you get a 3g signal at all? just a theory
that being said i haven't flashed a different radio for wildpuzzle and i get 3g ok
I've been careful not to flash the radio on the wildfire so I don't think that is the root cause.
It's just something odd that's all.

Ok I found the issue.
I'd not checked the apn details. With cyanogenmod 7 the handset had defaulted to the telstra.wap apn not the telstra.internet apn.
When using the telstra.internet apn I'm able to get to the m.telstra.com page.

hello everyone!
i'm having issues in the 3G HSDPA network conection...
i mean slow internet conectivity and dissconection...
i have talked to my Cell Operator the say that thier network is fine at my area and i think they are right cause i get full signal and the HSDPA uplink icon
but while using the conection i'm having these issues.
my question is:
can it be ROM/Kernal related? i'm using HyperDroid CM7 2.1.0 r10
if so what can i do?
will the internet will be more stabe on WM6.5?
cause idc what OS i'm using i know how to use them all and all of them are quite comftable to me the reason i use Android is for Whatsapp only since it's not available to WM6.5/WP7...
thanks in advance,
Barak S.

just to inform you that, they said that to me. the signal is good in my house, even looked up online 3g coverage for my area and says excellent, but i only get mobile internet in my house, but when am out and about or even at work i get constant HSDPA (Starts from when i take 2 steps away from front door), which it doesn't bother me considering i use wifi at home, so that might be the same issue your having, IGNORE what your operator says all they can really do is give you apn settings and hope for the best then it goes down the your handset, the only thing that can really stop you also is the radio you have and going by your signature you have latest one, so go the shop or somthing and test it to see if it improves...
I had the same issues for ages signal dropping out all the time and slow speeds I tried all the different radios and roms and everything, I can't confirm because I'm no dev but I think it was down to the kernal I only use the tytung r10 latest with 2.15 radio

is there a 3g survey on the market for your area? because apparently its meant to be very accurate the one i use is UK 3g Survey and tells you precisely how much 3g connection your getting say like 3g 30% 2g 70% / 3g 80% 2g 20% you get me point anyways... look it up

+1.... if still a no go then theirs nothing xda or your network provider can do...
@whynot66 & @LaneyEFC
i've tried Lady MIUI Typhoon CM7 and some sense builds
all the same...
but if it's kernal related then we will never know cause they all use the same kernal version....
BTW can it be Bootloader related? i mean cLK/MAGDLR?

Do you have a MVNO?
(en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_virtual_network_operator)
Do you see the roamming icon (R) in the coverage bars?
Check your apn settings in mobile networks. Google the values but the only thing you should change is the mms port and proxy to 8080 and 216.155.165.50 respectively

Hi !
First off, thanks to devs, that is a Great work you are doing!
I had the same issue.
European HTC HD 2 Leo T8585 running Hyperdroid CM 7 v 2.1.0 MAGLDR.
Location Finland, hsdpa and hsupa 2100 mhz and 900 mhz networks, perfect signal. Network provider have a transmitter 400m on a rooftop signal -70 dbi, constant.
Hyperdroid CM 7 v 2.1.0 MAGLDR;
Download speed 0,5 and upload 0,6 mbts. ping 169 ms
Something was wrong and I changed to:
Hyperdroid GBX v12 cLK.
Down speed 3 - 5 mbit, upload 1,25 -1,5 mbit, ping 130 ms
Sorry, i did not make bug log, but i guess there is a one.
I tried out both ROMs today (cm-10.1-20130714-Albinoman887-glacier and cm-10.2-20130824-Albinoman887-glacier). They look awesome, but my MyTouch 4G could no longer see 5GHz wifi APs afterwards. I reverted back to Gingerbread, and I could see 5GHz APs again.
Can anyone else corroborate this? If it's not just my phone, I'll patiently wait & see if that gets picked up in a future update.
Big thanks to Albinoman887 and everyone else for working on this in the first place.

are you changing the Advanced wireless settings under wifi to auto, 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz and seeing if that makes a difference?

Hm... it won't accept a 5GHz setting. If I set it to 5Ghz, hit "back," and then return to Advanced settings, it reverts to whatever it was previously set to (auto or 2.4GHz). Auto and 2.4GHz 'stick' just fine.
I think its a problem in 4.3 they are complaining of similar issues in n4 forum but some have it some don't
But since u say in both I don't know

Gotcha, thanks for the info. I'll poke around in that forum.
it looks like the Albinoman887 roms are missing the fw_bcm4329_5GHz.bin in the /system/vendor/firmware/ directory.
its got fw_bcmdhd_apsta.bin
fw_bcmdhd.bin
and bcm4329.hcd (which should go in /system/etc/firmware/)
I think that might have changed in 4.3, since the guy also said he couldn`t see it in his 4.2.2 rom either. Maybe that file is in the system/vendor/ section now?

I can confirm the same behavior on my MT4G. I'm using 4.3, the August 23rd build.
Still auto reverting to 2.4ghz on latest carbon rom
