Last night I accidentally flashed Samsung Galaxy S2 WIUI ROM on my defy. When restarted, the 2nd init recovery is not working
Unable to boot into the OS. The screen is at the Motorola M logo indefinitely. The only recovery that 'seems' to be a bit working is the stock recovery. But it has only install sdcard/update.zip option. When I give any ROM there, it says failed to verify signature. I renamed an official MIUI release (2.4.20) to update.zip and tried.
I tried to flash the sbf file. But the RSD lite tool is not showing my phone when connected to the USB.
Can someone tell me what needs to be done. Since the phone is rooted, it's not under warranty too
Please read the all in beginners guide. If it didn't work, please post here again.

Probably battery is flat, but you can`t charge it normal way if the system isn`t loaded.
Now you have two options:
1. charge it a`la McGyver
2. buy a wall charger for defy battery (6-8 quids on ebay)
Thanks everyone. Yes, the battery was dead. I had to buy a battery charger to charge up and used rsd lite to restore.. Again, thanks to all the geniuses for building tools and writing up detailed notes!!

Hi,
I've updated my Defy to the Chinese 2.21 Firmware a few days ago following this How-To http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919320 and everything worked fine for a couple of days but now I have strange problems with my battery:
--if I connect the mobile to the power supply nothing happens. The white LED sometimes goes on for a split second but then stays black.
--if i connect the mobile to the computer the white led goes on and it starts charging the battery, but after a few minutes the mobile starts booting by itsself and a few moments after i see the motorola symbol the white LED is going off and the mobile boots up to froyo but it switches itsself off very soon because the battery is low.
Any ideas how to make my mobile usable again?
Thank you
If you got the chance, try a different battery...
i read somewhere that someone had luck with that.
In a few days I will get a second defy from a friend, then i can find out and tell you if it is a problem of the battery, the usb port or the software...

Hi guys,
I`ve just had the same problem with my green lense defy.
basically when you recover using the chinese sbf you get the defy + kernel with it so it becomes a red lense/ defy+ as far as the battery charging is concerned.
So you need to install the battery fix for the red lense or defy+
there's a updated fix for the cm10
copy the zip to your sd card and flash the zip from recovery and all will be well. either via the usb if this is working and you have enough charge left or put the sd card in your card reader or adaptor on pc.
You may need to charge the battery using macguyver method (not more than half an hour and stop if battery starts getting warm or it may go bang.) or preferably 3rd party lion charger £19.99 in maplins at the moment.
just on my way out the door so haven't got time to post the links but easy to find if you search this forum.
good luck

Thanks, but I have not used Chinese sbf, regular CM7.2 for my defy ( green lens); With macguyver I got the defy charged up, it boots up and all; Only problem is that anything with the usb is not working, neither charging, nor recognizing ( by RSdLite, Motorola Media link, or Windows). I have been using CM7.2 for months without any problem; Also after charging via macguyver I tried re installing to old backed up Motodefy ROM, and also reinstalled CM7, as I said evertthing works except anything connected to USB, tried also different computers , uninstalled medialink, re-installed RSDLite all the works
will try some more; Any hints links welcome. Thanks

When the problem starter?? I have the same problem! If I connect the phone to PC the white led turns on but doesn't charge and if I put it in download mode the computer doesn't recognise the phone and give me error 43 even if I have the driver installed.

I did not touch the phone for a week I guess aftter this, now it is working; strange
I have searched through the threads and none have helped. I have a droid x wich was rooted. I tried unroot and bricked my droid. I can access bootload and have tried to flash numerous sbf files with rsdlite. I keep getting a load fail and and error code 1337 510b. is there any help or am i screwed.
Your phone has to be on in boot loader mode to attempt an SBF.
If your phone won't turn on in any form, your battery may be dead. Try charging your battery via a spliced cord, or try to get your hands on a charged Droid X battery to use.

I get it into boot load. i get the usb conected. i start rsd lite some of the sbf files i load to rsd get an error image missing. when I get one to load and I flash then phone comes back with error 1337 and 510b
Redownload the sbf and check the md5 sum along with that. Then uninstall rsd lite, reboot the computer, and reinstall the newest version. I think the version I have is above 5.0 so look for something like that. Also make sure the battery is plenty charged.
You may have to try several different versions of RSD Lite to find one that works well.

battery not recognized
Cool thanks, one more problem, the battery is not being recognized. Could that be the wrong .sbf? would flashing a rom fix this?
got somewhere
Here is where I am . I got a .sbf for droid x but couldn't get it to root. I flashed a milestone x sbf then rooted that with superoneclick, then installed my backup rom of liberty and I believe that I am back to where I started before I bricked. The only new problem is that my battery is showing a ? and will not charge. I spliced a usb cord to the battery to fool the phone into thinking it was charged so that I could get into bootloader. On another thread it was suggested that if you do that to your battery that it is possibly fried. Any thoughts?
Did you try wiping battery stats?
yes, if you mean by going through the recovery menu. Holding down the power+menu button and getting into that mode.
Did you try a new battery?
? battery
Not yet. that is my next option. Just wanted to send out some feelers and check my options. I will post outcome after I do. Maybe this will help someone else in there trouble shooting.
? for battery

Hi all,
I think I got a sourious Problem with my defy (green Lens).
I was aktually running on CM7.2 Stable as out of a sudden the call was aborted and the defy dead. But the Battery was at perhapse 20%.
At home I pluged it in and was schowing to charge.... (showing the flash in the Battery symbol at 5% and red LED)
Next day still at 5%. so nothing charged. So I changed the battery with my second defy (running on CM10) 100% loaded. But the Phone shows me still 5%.
Wenn phone is pluged in I can boot and work with it, I also can go into the Custom recovery and into the bootloader. But only when I pluged the phone and not when connected to the computer. Also bootloader shows battery low, even with a 100% loaded battery, so I can't Flash anything with RSD.
I tried everything I know, installing new roms (at the moment its at cm10)
Wiping everything... also Battery. Tried battery recalibration apps. and even some battery fixes for Defy+ but nothing changed something.
My only suggestion ist that it must be a hardware defekt..... anybody some other Ideas, what I could try?
Any Ideas how much it will cost to repair? Warrenty surely lost?
Thanks in advance. Andy
Nobody any Ideas?
maybe you should try to reflash with your stock SBF file you had b4 installing CM7 and see what happens... if the battery doesn't show right even then, I'm afraid it might be smth with your hardware...

Problem ist, that i can install any custom roms using custom recovery. But I can't flash something over RSDLite, because Handy doesn't start without beeing plugged in (plugged into pc isn't enough) and even then it shows battery at 5% even if battery ist 100% Full (Witch I can test, because I got a second defy) So I wouldn't be able to Flash because Bootloder says, not enough battery.
I don't know how I should flash.....
Did you test to restore nandroid ? If you didn't make nandroid backup when all was good, it's an error...
If there is a PC on Linux near you, you can test sbf_flash (which works very well for me on my Salix OS), eventually with the -f (force) option.
Hi,
no I don't have a nandroid backup, from this phone.... Is ist possible to use a nandroid backup of another phone? As I said, I got a second defy, so I could take one from this.
just wipe data n reflash.
connect the phone to your pc/laptop tru the cable.. for a night.. then boot. wipe data and reflash, else there is a methid where u cut open the usb cable and give the red and black to the battery.
By now I own an HTC ONE S .... so it's not so important, but I would like to repair it anyway....

Hello everyone !
This is my first ever post in this forum ,though i have learned alot from this forum .
Few days back i successfully rooted my phone and after that flashed custom rom without having back up of factory Rom but during this process my mobile stuck .
RSD was unable to detect my phone neither i was able to completely charge my battery.
Last day i came across the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892026
and set up everything as it is shown there.
Successfully flashed ROM UK Retail 2.2.2 Service sbf (Build number: JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_177-003)
http://and-developers.com/sbf:defy
Phone was up but with warning message battery is invalid ,can't charged the battery.
I reflashed the ROm in hope that it will solve my problem but all was in vain .
When battery is fully drained ,i connect my mobile via usb .It boots up successfully but fails to recognize my battery showing a question mark on battery meter.
I can charge my battery via external USB .
Help me please !

Sorry for being late .
I have flashed every patch but still have the same problem.
Right now i have CM9 kernel 2.6.32.9 .One of the interesting thing i noted is that custom boot loader shows the right battery status but android battery says "unknown 100%" .At first i thought i had green lense but later via defylense app i came to know that i have red lens(it may be erroneous because i have already patched red lens batt fix files) .Few days back i tried dual boot Cm9 and Cm7 but none of them recognized my battery.
Please help me ......

Motorola Defy MB525 battery unknown
Same problem here. My Defy was working fine until I installed 0404 Quarx build. Then after a few hours installing and setting up my apps back I did a reboot and the got stuck in the Motorola logo until my battery drained off. USB won't recognize the device but I managed to use an universal charger to get the battery running again but again stuck at Motorola logo so I flashed a new rom using RSD. That got my device booting up again but the "Unknown battery" message started showing up whenever I tried to charge. I spent the whole weekend trying new sbf and battery fixes but none fixes the problem. I even got back the previous Quarx build I was using and still nothing. Is there something else I might have missed?
So I kept trying with different SBFs but none of them work and yesterday I changed back to Epsylon's last rom, which was the first I ever installed in my phone and now Android recognizes when the phone is connected or not, and it shows the "charging" icon but the battery full. In battery status still shows 100% and Unknown. Strangely enough when I go to the bootmenu it starts charging, but only if I keep touching the screen and moving around the menus.
i had rooted the defy+ & installed cm7(i think because it had been a long time ago) for my friend
my friend did a reset on the phone since it was slowing down...
i think it has bricked...
because it doesn't turn on also
he got it checked at the service center, they said they have to change its motherboard
i doubt that....
i think the battery is dead too
will it charge even if the phone is bricked???
now how do i restore the phone back to stock????
any kind of suggestions will be appreciated

it's turn off (take the battery out if it's getting stuck at boot to make sure) then hold down power and vol UP to get to the boot loader
If you get no response with factory cable, your device may be hard bricked

is it possible that the bootloader could be deleted???
because i was goin through some threads
twrp erased the internal storage along with the bootloader
thats what he claims...
just curious...
is dat possible?
btw i left the phone overnight connected(not the original moto cable, used sony cable) to my macbook pro(running win 8.1)
still the same

The McGyver method is very dangerous I would have sugested you not to use it because in my case I will never have the possibility of charging my phone via usb cable but with an universal charger and it can't be reverted so you are warned now,
Are you sure your battery is now charged to enter bootloader? It can't be erased, if not, then charge your battery with an universal charger then try to enter bootloader
